The theater is in a great location with awesome dining spots nearby. The inside could use some updating of the concession area and additional menu items. The food prices are up there, but that's the theater. The ticket prices are normal. We were able to buy ahead of time online. They have an option to self purchase inside, or go to the box office. I felt comfortable with the cleanliness inside the theater and throughout the building. The seats weren't anything special but I was comfortable the entire movie. My fiancé wishes they had a Dolby theater for better sound quality. Overall, it made for a great Friday date night experience for us and many many other people flooding in. read more

Went to see Spider-Man in Screen 4 for the 4:15 PM showing and was unfortunately pretty disappointed with the experience. We were seated in the furthest back row, directly near the projection window, which was open during the movie. I'm not sure if that's standard, but throughout the film there was a constant noise coming from inside the projection room. It sounded like someone had a sports game or something similar playing on a speaker. Because we were sitting so close to the projection room, we could hear it throughout the movie and it was extremely distracting. It definitely took away from the experience, especially when you're paying to enjoy a movie in a theater where you expect the auditorium to be quiet aside from the film itself. I'm hoping this can be looked into so it doesn't happen during future showings. read more

I want to start by saying the staff is lovely! That is the only reason why I am giving 2 stars... I used to work here waaaay back in the day and boy, do I have stories but I will not disclose them here. I will however say, back in 2006 when I was working here, the chairs are THE SAME ((fabric and all)) and now, they are covered with filth such as soda, food... and who knows what else. I threw my clothing away after my final try with the theater unfortunately. I was hoping with what money they get, they would keep the theater clean. That was my job, I cleaned and made sure there was no trash, spills or anything that was disgusting. I wish I could write good things, like how much the DDR games brought in EVERYDAY. I remember having to empty it at least 3 times during my 7 hour shift. But they got tired of people going in to just play the games, so they got rid of them. How does that make sense?? But no, I will drive to Oxnard despite it being a long drive and costing extra money. :/ I know they could do better but sadly, they aren't and it seems like they won't change it. I went to the movies tonight with a friend and was made really uncomfortable by a woman who I believe is the manager. I was next in line to buy snacks and hadn't noticed a group of young boys in line until the manager yelled at them from BEHIND the counter asking them "and what movie do you guys think you're going to see?" We all looked up at her because she yelled at them pretty loud. They got super embarrassed and said Scream 7. She then began saying they better have someone who is 21+ with them, but they only had someone that was 18. She yelled again and said that all their ID's were going to be checked before going in to the movie. It was super uncomfortable and I felt embarrassed for the boys. They were extremely respectful to her the entire time even though she was belittling them and being a condescending smart ass in front of everyone. I totally understand that yes they should have a guardian with them but there's a way to talk to someone. Also c'mon mam it's a movie. I would rather these young boys be hanging out and watching a movie then out doing who knows what. I should have stepped in and said they were with me. read more

I would give them negative stars but I cant. I have enjoyed coming to this theatre in the past. I was exiting the showing and a team member was chatting me up and I noticed a box of posters that looked like they were being discarded and she said I could have one. I found one I wanted and continued on my way out. Once at the exit a masked manager stopped me and VERY rudely and demeaningly shamed me and said I couldnt have that poster. I called the team member over in front of the masked manager and told her what was said to me. The masked manager DEMANDED the poster from me saying it was only for team members and not 'the general public'. I said, " As a long time customer and as a M rewards member are you REALLY telling me I have to give this poster back to you?" He said that he was. And I gave it back and left. I will NEVER go to this theatre again and will cancel my rewards with Metropolitan theaters. Tickets can be purchased easily online in advance or at a kiosk upon entering. Their rewards program offers free popcorn and other goodies on occasion. The employees are polite and helpful. Movies are rarely crowded, and the theaters have "stadium seating" with comfortable chairs, moveable armrests and are nice and clean. The films shown are typically in high demand/popular. Yesterday I saw my first movie live in a theatre since the pandemic. Not too much has changed except the fact that now you choose your seats and either have to pre-purchase your movie tickets or buy them through an automated machine. We planned to show up early to buy tickets in person, however, two of the three machines were down which caused a long line. The actual theatre seemed on the smaller size and there was damage to the bottom of the screen which was visible the entire movie. The seats were decently comfortable and had drink holder armrests that could be raised up. I had to use the restroom during the three hour film and they were unfortunately not very clean. I was excited to visit the cinema after some time and support them. Usually I wait for movies to come out for home rental or purchase and given my experience, most likely I'll continue to do just that. read more

I went to this theater last night and was accused of stealing an ice cream out the refrigerator by the manager, because I'm black and had my hands in my pockets. Once this man realized that he was wrong and was racist he offered a free refill on my popcorn... I told him I want everything including my ticket paid for immediately. He apologized and looked terrified. I proceeded to watch go watch Air with my girlfriend, but couldn't scratch the feeling that I wasn't safe in that theater. The feeling that anything you do may be seen as suspicious is terrifying. Don't know this man's name, but the whole theater staff including the girl who was checking me out need to be better. Had an unpleasant experience. i went to see a movie this evening & the employee who was checking tickets (his name could be daniel i don't know for sure) was more of an older, bigger man. he called my friend a princess while checking our tickets which was very weird in itself. i then went to the bathroom later throughout the movie & as i was walking back to the theatre he was coming out of a door & fully shoulder checked me & i went flying & fell back onto the benches in the lobby. it was such an uncomfortable, weird experience that I hope I never have to endure again. i have no idea why it happened but i hope it doesn't happen to someone else. read more

Came here to see Fantastic Beasts 2 yesterday. The staff was very friendly and let us buy tickets even though we were 5 minutes late. The problem for me was that the theater itself was very small and the movie screen was very close, even though I was sitting in the middle row, so it was hard to see the movie. Overall though, the theater was tidy and the staff nice, I just would sit in the back row if I came again, unless you like sitting close to a movie screen. read more

The first of its kind in Santa Barbara. Still a great place to see a movie. When this theater was built, it was the first in the area to offer stadium seating. Let me tell you, this configuration is a real game-changer. The elevated seating positions allow for a better view of the film. Not only that, but you aren't being distracted by light each time the main doors open mid-movie. I know that other local theaters have since adopted this configuration but I remember when it was new and cool. I also enjoy how the front seats recline. I can't tell you how many times I've walked in to a nearly packed house where the only available seats are in the very front. Who wants to sit in the front? It's a lot more tolerable if you're able to tilt back. On that note, the seats are very plush and comfortable. I never have felt that I needed to adjust my seating position. Just sit back and enjoy. This theater also doubles as an arcade of sorts. The general public is allowed to walk in and utilize their games. I'm not personally a big gamer but do enjoy watching others kill it on the DDR game. It always tends to attract a crowd if someone is really in the zone. Camino Real Cinemas is located in the middle of the identically-named shopping center flanked by small eateries. There is a great amount of parking though I'd recommend parking on the other side of the center road closer to Home Goods as the spaces are more plentiful. To my knowledge, a student discount is offered one day per week. Going to the movies isn't an inexpensive activity so every dollar saved helps. That said, this is one of Santa Barbara's best theaters and a great place to watch a film. read more

I decided to take my husband to go see the new Avatar movie and when when we got to our seats we noticed all of the seats in our row were stained with something nasty. It looked like dirt and we didn't feel comfortable setting our stuff down on the chairs or the floor because the floor was also sticky and dirty with something brownish looking. Can you imagine sitting through a long movie like Avatar and not being able to sit comfortably because if you sit too much to the right you'll get your clothes stained or if you put your belongings on another chair that will get stained too. We left the movie early because the place was unsanitary and it just made it hard to sit through a long movie like Avatar. In addition, the seats are not comfortable and do not recline. You would think this theater would catch on to the way other theaters are doing things and at least offer reclined chairs. If anyone knows of any good theaters in SB that prioritize meeting health standards and keeping everything clean I would love your recommendations! read more

I'd reach for an Icee at the Arlington over Camino Real. It's closest to UCSB and Isla Vista, but the theater's rooms feel a little small. The staff here feel pretty distant and like they'd rather be anywhere else, which is understandable given that they're normally working night shifts. One of the best features of Camino Real is that they have a credit card machine for tickets that works fairly well. As part of a generation that's tended to move toward card over cash, this is immensely helpful and marginally closer to the entrance to the theater. As is with other places of its kind, the claw machines and snack bar are overpriced as all heck. It's just over $5 for a large popcorn (comes with free refill and all the butter you can pump), which is probably the best and freshest deal on there. However, it's over $5 for a large, flavorless Icee, which is absolutely wrong in my opinion. No blue raspberry should taste that much like water. Free up your Tuesdays, and you'll get to see the matinee at just under $7 a pop. Maybe then you can afford one of the exorbitantly-priced movie theater snacks (unavoidable everywhere.) However, it's clean and comfy, and plays a few of the most recent films. The selection is just really small in comparison to the marquees in bigger cities. I've been to this movie theater for a good amount of time now. It's the closest to Isla Vista and unless you want to see second grade movies in Fairview, that's where you will likely end up. It's located in the middle of the market place, great location. Outside you can either buy your tickets at the booth or on a machine. If there is too many people lining up at the booth, go for the machine it will save you a lot of time. The popcorn and other treats are heavily overpriced. Drinks ranging from $4.75 for a small drink, $5.00 for a medium and about $5.25 for a large. Pop corns are about the same price range but a dollar up. Candies from $3 to $5. The staff is often cold with you, don't be surprised. Regarding the theaters themselves, they are always cleaned up. Seats are comfy. read more

2.4 Stars I've been to this theater a few times, but tonight I took more notice of this theater and decided to write a review. This is a small theater in a shopping center. I came last night for a 6:40 pm Thanksgiving showing of Skyfall. We came at 6:00 because of the crowds. By the time it was almost 6:40, the theater was pretty much packed. Popcorn here tastes like stale bland white colored poop with butter. Not to mention, there was a nut-jobs who were laughing annoyingly at almost every scene at the movie. Seats weren't even that comfortable. The other Metro theaters here are definitely in comparison to each other. Santa Barbara could benefit more if they had a Century, Regal, or AMC here. read more

Disappointing does not begin to describe the last few experiences I've had here. The theater has become a shell of its former self. This place used to be well kept and clean, this is not the case now. I went to a movie a few weeks ago and when I book, I always try yo pick seats that will be farther away from everyone, so I pick the ones above the entrance and it was something I will forever regret. The floor was sticky (which I get that movie theaters have this) the overall smell when I walked in was BO and when I got to my seat, the corner away from everyone else, I quickly realized that someone or multiple people have used that as the makeshift restroom (I don't need to go into detail, you can use your imagination) And more recently, I went to a movie last night and it was seriously the last straw for me. The seats were mostly stained with who knows what, and I'm hoping it was the seats next to me and not the one I was sitting in, but it smelled absolutely terrible. The popcorn was an older batch with mostly small pieces and the staff was not helpful when bringing issues to their attention. The goal is not to complain to be a pain but to bring obvious issues to their attention so a change can be made. I get it that it's not realistic for the theater to be deep cleaned after every show or even every night, but once a week? Bi Monthly? Monthly?? This should be standard practice as anyone with a decent sense of smell could smell the place. I get it, it's a public place where many people frequent, but this just seems excessive. I would recommend getting rid of the cloth hard to clean seats, and switching over to vinyl or faux leather coverings that will be much easier to clean and maintain. read more

I went to see a Captain Marvel tonight at around 9pm. When I came to the Box office the mics were not in use as usual and I had to yell so they could hear what I wanted to see. After getting my ticket I proceeded in to get my ticket torn by a girl who was draped over a chair where you could almost not see her behind the podium. I then when to concession where there was actually no line and four staff members working. Well, after standing awkwardly waiting for them to stop talking to each other and drinking their sodas and ask to help me I just walked up to one of them at the register. I ordered nachos and a drink to which the supervisor asked one of her employees to get it. She took my money and I made a comment about how sticky the counter was....she smiled at me. Now at this point, at least a minute has passed and two of the staff are talking to each other, one is getting my nachos and the fourth has now started a conversation with another employee who had come out of box....all with a line forming behind me. At this point another supervisor comes out and says they need help cleaning theatre one (their biggest) so the two randomly talking head that way and one goes back to the box office. That leaves two to dell with the now about 8 people that had lined up behind me. All of that I was not shocked about....it was when I walked to my theatre...which was theatre 2, all the way down the hallway. Well, as I walked I noticed popcorn and candy all the way down the hall and every single trash can had trash piled on top of them. It was obvious they had not been emptied after the last show....or most of the day! Everything in the theatre seemed clean (except the entryway), but I didn't go very high. When I got out of the theatre I was forced to put my trash on the floor next to the trash can because of how high it was piled. As I went to use the restroom on my way out it was very clear no one had bothered taking a look as the trash was all full and there were paper towels all over the floor. As a former employee of MTC, it is really sad to see this place, once the flagship of MTC, be not cared about by employee's, including the supervisor who just smiled at me when I said the entire counter was sticky. I can tell when I have caught them at a bad time, but when there are four people talking and laughing, it's not a bad time....it's carelessness. It is pretty obvious that no one that works there cares about their work place or its presentation. If I were to see MTC on a resume I honestly might think twice about hiring them because it is clear they didn't care about their last job. read more

A convenient theater for us UCSB students. I come here about once a month on either Tuesday (for the Tuesday bargain) or Saturday. Everything is great but the seats are very very old and dirty. One time I was the only one in the theater so I took my time, turning on my iphone flashlight searching for the cleanest seat... all of them were pretty torn with holes and crumbs :( so dirty that when I got home I threw everything I wore in a washer. If there is a plan to renovate the place, please change the seats into leather as they're much easier to clean and maintain. read more

This theater is convenient if you are going to Jane or Vicentas or Costco before or after. It is located in the Goleta Marketplace. Though outwardly, this building appears large, the actual theater screens are small and the theater space smallish: not ideal for the big movies but acceptable for most others. I like to take the grand kids here (now 7, 5 years old) because the theaters are small which allows them less area in which to hide or get lost. Though oddly enough, they both have managed to do both. Evidently others agree with this because there are always a lot of kids here. So if they are showing a movie that takes any amount of concentration, it is better to maybe see it at the Hitchcock or Paseo. Tuesdays are Bargain days which really is a bargain compared to LA theaters. The staff is pretty much normal for movie theaters around the world: young, disaffected kids very few of them who care about anything except their phones. their make-up application and chatting with each other about all manner of business having nothing to do with the movie theater in which they are working: not all but most. Yes i am complaining about something and an attitude which i probably shared with these Millennials during my time in the salt mines working for minimum wage, Prices at the concessions stand are pretty much too expensive which means you cannot leave with a small popcorn and a small coke for less than 10 bucks. At least now most theaters serve Beer and Wine. And they are required to ask for ID even from oldies like myself! read more

I don't mind the beer--that just gets poured--but if you are going to add food more complicated than nachos, have the people needed to make up for the added time needed to prepare it. read more

I'm confused by negative reviews on this theater. They always have a good selection of the movies that are out. It's always clean and they even have midnight shows of the summer blockbusters. The staff is always very friendly. I've never had a problem with any of the screens or audio either. It's located next to a lot of restaurants and has lots of free parking. Ignoring the feeling of happiness and life leaving you once you enter the vicinity, you'll see that the theater is decent. the prices were very reasonable for a matinee showing ($7.50, back home some places charged $13 so I was happy). Unfortunately in return for reasonable prices, they have very little choices in terms the number of movies they screen. I believe they screen about 6, so if they don't have the movie you want you're forced to go downtown. When you look at the staff they remind you of the actors who play teenagers working at a movie, bored to death. Which gives the atmosphere a very dreary feel; hence the feeling of life leaving you. However, all of that is forgotten when you go to your seats. The one I was in had surprisingly very comfortable seats. I did not have a run in with management like the previous reviewers, so I cannot say much about that. Nor did I have an issue with the ushers asking me to clean up after myself. Overall, if you're not there for a bright, lively theater and just came for a comfortable screening of the latest movie released, at an affordable price, then this is the place to go. read more

I don't know why this is getting such bad reviews. The movie theater doesn't control ticket prices (I use to work at a movie theater). It is set by studios. Movie theaters make their money off concessions (food). Anyway they take pride in making sure the each movie is clean and runs well. I have never had any projection problems or sound difficulties. They offer 3D as well if you are looking for extra entertainment. If prices are too high for you (which they are IMO) go on tuesdays to lessen the cost. read more
