I cam eww here for a sewing clasa - Absolute Beginners. It was 2 hours and $32- sign up online. The instructor was Chris, and she was as nice aa a Summer Breeze. She was patient and you could tell that she loves her work. She is actually a sewing teacher in a high achool! The facility is brand new and they have bathroom facilitiea for clients. It was smaller than I thought the store would be, but they have a nice aasortment of fabrics. I found one that i was dying to get. I will return ro take more classes, for sure read more

Came here to see the showroom for Hunter Douglass window treatments. Not what I was expecting of a showroom, seemed underwhelming, but once I spoke with Suzette, I was able to go through the selections and options more thoroughly. Very friendly staff. While not everyone was able to help us with the HD window treatments specifically, they tried hard to answer our questions, and obviously felt bad that we were waiting around not being helped -- only because the Suzanne was occupied with another couple. Once we were helped, we got a price breakdown. There was definitely no upselling. She gave us affordable options, explained the different types of window treatments (the benefits of motorized ones to regular pull downs) and also price points of more expensive options. We left after making an appointment with the designer, who takes preliminary measurements and a more detailed price estimate. After that, Chris came for more exact measurements, then we waited until the product was made. Fast forward 8 weeks later (a large custom sized shade), Chris came back to install, and within 45 minutes of his arrival, it was all done -- we had our pull down black out shades. Very happy, blocks out a lot of light, and waking up in the morning is a lot less painful without the sun beaming straight into our eyes. Would recommend! read more

I came here for the absolute beginner's sewing class and had such a great time. I was a little worried because when i called the lady i spoke with on the phone was short and a bit rude when i asked about the class schedule. Thank goodness i still gave it a try. You can register for class online and avoid the grumpy person on the phone. The sewing instructor was knowledgeable and explained things thoroughly. I felt I got a really good value for the $30 class. I will definitely try the next level sewing class here. They classes are held in an upstairs room and each student gets their own machine. I even went home with a finished project. Had a blast at the sewing class. I would recommend the classes here! read more

I'm a fan of the FabricLand classes. The teachers are knowledgeable and friendly. I've taken 3 classes at FabricLand. The teachers are fantastic. They are helpful and love sewing - I left knowing that they want me to love sewing as well. The staff on the floor is also very helpful to a person new to sewing. I did research online and found that the staff said very much the same thing as I found online regarding tips and recommendations. Regarding fabric prices, I did some comparison shopping and their prices seem reasonable; you are going to pay more for higher quality fabrics. Beyond fabric, they offer drapes. I didn't use their drape services YET. The facility could use some updating, but otherwise a very nice experience. read more

I've been having trouble finding decent fabric stores in NJ, and was hoping that Fabricland would be my mecca. Made a Saturday morning pilgrimage there. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. About 1/2 of the square footage is devoted to ready-made curtains and shades. The other half is split between dress fabrics, upholstery fabrics, and trims. Overall, the upholstery fabric collection was really mediocre, run of the mill stuff. The selection was pretty slim, not well organized at all. The staff was not helpful at all. I will not be going back here anytime soon. read more

I write this based on my past experience with the old Fabricland. Their classes are great, but the inventory has been drastically reduced with the switch to the new location. They are now more heavily focused on their custom blind and window treatment business. They used to carry tons of gorgeous fabric and DIY off-the shelf window treatments, but all that's gone away. I browsed for a bit after I dropped off my daughter off for a class and found three fabrics I liked enough to purchase whereas in the past I would have had to limit myself. Places to buy fabric are disappearing and I can no longer consider Fabricland my first choice when shopping for fabric and sewing supplies. read more

She not only spent a great deal of time with me trying to find the fabric I needed to reupholster some sofa cushions, but she was fun, pleasant, and tenacious. I would love to encounter more customer service people like Teresa, and the business should be happy to have her. My favorite Fabric store to shop in! Love the fabrics for Home decorating as well as the fashion fabrics to make clothes! I've taken classes here, and have learned so much! Friendly, knowledgeable staff throughout the store....... from the custom department to the home furnishing department, to the dress fabric department, as well as the decorator fabric department. I really enjoyed the beginner sewing class upstairs with Carmella. I lucked out since there were only 3 students that day so it was almost like a semi-private class. She was patient and knowledgeable. Overall a great teacher. We learned not only how to operate the machine but also a few basic sewing techniques. We got to take home a project made in class as well. Very very small selection of fabrics. I drove 45 mins to get here based on their website claims and photos but store is not like that. Half the floor space is Dedicated to window treatments, cramming in the bolts of fabric to just half. Split that now to cotton, outdoor, apparel, etc there's not much of any type. I was hoping for more than Joanne's or hobby lobby but this was much worse selection. Will not return, will just go back to the big chains, very disappointed I wasted so much time traveling here. read more

Wary of past negative reviews I tried my luck on a sale day, which anyone who likes to purchase fabric knows, is never a good day for expecting exceptional customer service. I was pleasantly surprised- having been greeted and guided through the store and provided with feedback that helps me ultimately make a decision on curtains for my nursery. Classes. 5star. Selection. 4 star. Service 3 star. I sew only occasionally but have purchased fabric and notions here for many years and have found the selection adequate to my needs. They are not the most cheerful or friendly bunch but I have not found them rude, either. I think the store's greatest strength is its classes. If this review were for just cIasses, I would give them 5 stars. I recently purchased some custom window treatments and found the service less than stellar. For that I would give three stars. The website function to request an appointment does not get a response. Call or go in to the store. Although they did help me pick shades that I am very happy with, it took an extremely long time to get, they were very expensive, and they left off an obvious part which the installer did not notice and I had to wait for another appointment for. So for shades I would most likely go elsewhere in the future. read more

Great selection although I have a persistent gripe that I REALLY should tell them in person. The salespersons virtually always short the amount of yardage that they cut. You would think that they were responsible for doing the weaving on their own. If I ask for one yard of decorator fabric, I feel that I should be able to pull a thread across to get a full yard of straight fabric. The personnel tend to cut crooked so that the customer doesn't get the full amount requested - has happened to me one too many times. This store charges top dollar and you should get what you're paying for. They even do this when cutting trims. Very annoying. read more

Very disappointed in how my material was cut. I bought some material a few weekends ago and two different people cut it. I bought 2 yards of two different materials. One was actually about 70 inches long and the other is about 90 inches long. I just got around to matching them up to start my project. This really changes how I start my work as I now have to cut the larger material to match the shorter material making my final project smaller. I paid for 4 yards and the material was not cheap. I have been shopping at Fabricland for almost 30 years and have always considered it a secret treasure. The valances and curtains that they have are by far the most fashionable ones that I have seen. The employees have always been friendly and approachable. They are knowledgeable and they take the time out to explain how to hang my curtains and they put together things that always look awesome in my home. Fabric Land is a fabulous store. The staff is always helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I've purchased many ready-made curtains/draperies there, as well as fabric and notions. Their drapery selection is better in quality and quantity than other stores. They have great sales, especially if you sign up as a preferred customer. I prefer giving my business to a local personal store like this vs. a "Walmart-like" store. Seems some reviewers are lamenting the change of times (ex. Fabric Land doesn't carry yarn or towels etc. anymore). I salute Fabric Land for figuring out what their "core competency" is and sticking with that. read more

I took the absolute beginners sewing class for adults and it was excellent. We went over safety, straight and curved stitching and completed a little project! This is a great class for beginners or to familiarize yourself with how to use a sewing machine. Chris the instructor was great. She was very patient and knowledgeable. As far as the Learn Your Own Sewing Machine course they offer, the instructor is not flexible with times available! Only have appointments mon-fri before 4:30pm. What about for people who work during the week? But anyway, the beginners course was excellent! read more

Don't go here. I am a usual shopper at Joanne's fabric, Walmart in freehold, and hobby lobby and have to say I was extremely disappointed in this place. First off the selection isn't great and I couldn't find a piece of fabric for less then 10.99 per yard. I am used to paying around $4 $5 per yard at the other places and able to use coupons. This is the first time I walked out of a fabric store with nothing. Had there been one I liked I probably would have paid the high price for a yard or two. Sewing machine repair service is terrible. Customer service ranges from not helpful to very rude. I've been waiting well over three months with no communication with so called professional repair person until I had to demand to speak with him today just for him to tell me he can't get the parts. but he tried, yet I found the parts using social media and they are available for that model. He did not try too hard that's for sure. Overall I think this must be a miserable place to work based on how the majority of the staff seems disinterested in helping you at all or flat out rude. read more

I was stunned to be denied decent customer service because of "company policy." I've been sewing for 40 years and have gone to FabricLand before without much issue. The service is competent, if not very friendly. Yesterday, I needed fabric for swags I'm making for 5 large windows. I needed 27 yards of fabric and wanted it cut into the five sizes I needed. It never occurred to me that I'd be denied this service. It's a fabric store, where one buys fabric cut to size needed whether it be for a dress, pants, or curtains!! They refused to cut it for me, supposedly because of their return policy. "What if we measure wrong?" "If we do it for you, we'd have to do it for everyone." Uh, yes, because this is a FABRIC store where you buy FABRIC cut to the amount you need!! I still am baffled and disgusted. Now, I get to roll out 27 yards of fabric to cut on my own, without the benefit of the sophisticated equipment, rolling machine, slit table for scissors, etc, that they have. The only good thing? If I don't like the fabric, because it wasn't cut, I can return it within 30 days for refund. I may just do that, if only because this store does not deserve my business. What a shame! read more

Whatever you do, do NOT bring a sewing machine in there for service. I bought my Bernina in for service and they kept it hostage for almost 6 weeks. I had to call twice to find out what the hold up was. When I finally got Kathy, the sewing machine manager, on the phone she was nasty. Told me they'd left a message. Funny thing is I was out of town when they called and there was NO message on the machine. She had no answer when I asked her why, even if they had left me a message, no one followed up a week later. That's would be good customer service- When I picked it up they charged me an additional $60 (oh, and I had to pre-pay the outrageous $90 for the cleaning) for a part I didn't think was broken. When I asked to speak to the manager the dress fabric manager was there and she basically called me a liar, told me Kathy was the most thorough person and if she said she'd left a message she had. Sounds like I'm a liar right? I've been in retail on and off for years. I've never EVER been rude to a customer even when they were in my face. All I wanted was an APOLOGY. What I got was sass and a $150 bill. I wouldn't buy anything from them, nor repair anything with them now, if they were the last store on earth. read more

DON'T SHOP AT FABRICLAND!!! I had a horrible experience with them! Firstly, they are overpriced. I made the mistake of assuming that that meant that the quality and service would match the pricing. I WAS WRONG! I went in to make an appointment to have a decorator come to my house for a free consultation. I made the appointment with the sales lady who said the decorator would contact me. She never did. I had to follow up several times. The decorator finally told me that the sales lady never put the appointment on her calendar. I ordered shades for three windows. When my shades were finally delivered (three months later!) two had to be returned because they didn't fit - one was several inches too short and the other was very crooked. The installer guy had the nerve to tell me that it was because my windows were crooked! I had to explain to him that my windows were not crooked, and that even if they were, the decorator measured them so the blinds should have been made to fit them, crooked or not! The third shade? He didn't have it! He said he didn't know why but "they just didn't put it on the truck". So after three months and almost $2,000 later, I had nothing to show for it because one shade was missing and the other two were made so poorly they had to be returned. The installer told me that I would have to wait until the following Monday for any info about the missing shade because no one is around on Saturday. I called anyway and spent over an hour on the phone with different people insisting that they find my missing shade and have it installed that day. Of course they found it and I had to wait several more hours for the installer to come back and install it, which he did poorly. So of course that was my whole day down the drain! I spoke to the owner who promised me a $500 discount for all of the trouble. However, after the other two poorly made shades were finally redone (still crooked though) and installed I got several phone calls demanding the balance in full. I called the owner to remind him of the discount he promised and advise him of the issues with the two replacement shades but he never returned my call. I had to call a different company in to come in and fix the shoddy shades I got from Fabricland! Take my advice - don't shop at Fabricland! I had a terrible experience and after I talked to a few of my neighbors about it, they told me that had poor experiences too. By the way, the system won't let me give zero stars. read more
