Tri-rail has a deal right now for the weekends and holidays for $5 round trip tickets. It is a no brainer to take it down to Miami, especially with the new downtown connection. When you get to the station, they have ticket machines that make it nice and easy to grab before hopping on the train. There is plenty of parking at this station, although passing through other stations I have noticed they have bigger parking lots a little further south. I have gone both on weekdays and weekends. The trains are fairly quiet, with the exception of the last train on a weekend heading northbound. That got pretty crowded, but still easy enough to find a seat. It's the best way to travel, to avoid the traffic. The trains are clean and get you to your destination, north or south, fairly quick.

You can also take the orange line to get to the airport. It also has a transfer at the Tri-Rail station where you can opt to go all the way to West Palm beach. This particular station has connecting bus routes to downtown and connects to the 595 express that takes you all the way to Sunrise in Broward County. Additionally if you are going to Marlins park and you don't want to get stuck in traffic and avoid 20+ dollar parking this is a great solution. You can park your car at any Metro-Rail station and get an all day pass and come to this station and the marlins shuttle (the 55 bus) will take you to and from the Stadium. They have shuttles running from the Stadium to the Culmer Metro-Rail station from prior to the game up to 2 hours after the last pitch. Also pointing out that riding public transportation is great for the enviroment and helps decongest highways. Great work Miami-Dade Transit!

The one way ticket is $2.25, but you can get a full day pass for $5.65, which allows for unlimited transfers between metrorail and buses for one full day...if you get a $2.25 ticket, you will have to pay another $2.25 when you transfer. The signage on approaching stations is very good and the maps and routes printed on the inside of the trains are very useful. The Metrorail offers one easy ride to get you where you need to go. Be from Downtown Miami and Brickell to Coconut Grove and South Miami as well as a quick trip to the airport. There are two distinct rail lines that depart from the Dadeland South station on US1. The Orange line ends at Miami International Airport and back. The Green line runs further up north with connections to the Tri-rail and Virgin MiamiCentral. There are stops along each route at many of Miami's top attractions such as Coconut Grove, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Brickell, the Lyric Theater, Hialeah and more. Metrorail opened in 1984 and it is Florida's only rapid transit metro system. It is composed of two lines of 23 stations on 24.4 miles of track. Metrorail serves the urban core of Miami, connecting Miami International Airport, the Health District, Downtown Miami, and Brickell with the northern developed neighborhoods of Hialeah and Medley to the northwest, and to suburban The Roads, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami, ending at urban Dadeland in Kendall. Use Uber ? The choice that you make can save you big Bucks! My wife happen to read reviews of the orange line on Miami Metro Line. You can catch the orange line right at Miami International airport. The orange line stops just a few blocks away from our hotel. And guess what ? A one way ticket is only $2.25 . There were security officers at the ticket machine to help anyone who needed help. So the two of us to get to the hotel only cost us $4.50 total. I have to say that the Metro Line wasn't new by any means, nor the fastest, but it was clean ! For the price of &4.50 for two it cant be beat! There was plenty of security at the airport as well as all along the ride to the hotel. So the next time you fly into Miami International airport, keep a open mind and consider Miami's Metro Line for your transportation needs. I'm glad we did!
