My puppy started going here for his first visit through his 1 yr birthday. During most of that time it was during the pandemic and I hadn't met office staff or the vets. However, the first in-person visit led me to worry about the treatment he might've received while I wasn't there with him. Dr. Aartz was definitely condescending, aggressive, rude (as other reviews have referenced). His mannerisms, his tone and energy made me worry 'if this is how he is with puppy owner in the room as witness....' Maybe other vets there have better "bedside manner" with pet and their humans, but I won't be returning. Office staff gets mixed review. Vet tech was very nice. read more

Since I have lived in Milford, we have been taking our animals to Metrowest Veterinary Associates. My family and I have fostered as well as owned a few dogs in the 20 plus years that we have been in town. In 2016 we got a red nose pitbull, who is the sweetest most genuine dog that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting let alone being lucky enough to have her as my own. A little over a year ago she began favoring her back right leg. We took her to Metrowest to have her seen. Where I had Dr. Artz, someone who has seen our past pets many times in the past, look at her for five minutes and tell me that she's overweight and that it is nothing more than arthritis thats causing her to limp. From then to now she has been favoring it more and more, where I have brought her in to be seen more times than one. Being asked why I keep bringing her in and that, "she isn't favoring it right now, so whats the problem?" Being brushed off and made felt like I was in the wrong for wanting my pet to be healthy. I will say shame on me for continuing to bring her back there multiple times thinking that this man actually cared about her well being. As she continued to favor her leg, I took her to a different vet after being scrutinized for caring about my dog. Within 10 minutes of being seen by this other vet, he informed us that my dog has a torn ACL, and that it had most likely been torn for sometime. To think about the amount of time that she has been in pain breaks my heart. Other than him I found the staff to be relatively friendly. Do NOT bring your pets to this vet. Unless you wish to feel like you're the problem for caring about their health and well being. This man should not have a job. read more

We've taken a few of our cats here over the past 10 years and have always had the best experience! The office is accommodating and always works to get you seen quickly if needed. The vet techs are helpful and kind when our kitties don't want to cooperate with nail trimmings and everyone has been so pleasant to work with. When our kitty had some breathing issues, Dr. Allegretto was AMAZING! She was thorough and listened to our concerns and offered helpful advice to ease our worries. She even went as far to email us some links and tips for future care and fortunately we solved the issue without further treatment. Even now that we live in Worcester, we still drive the 30 minutes for this wonderful care and always know we'll be satisfied with the services at Metrowest Vet! read more

Let me just say, if I could give zero stars...I would. Read entire review. My wife and I have been bringing our 5 year old male black lab to MWVA since he was 8 weeks old. Maria-who works the front desk is amazing. This is where the good stops. My lab has been limping, so my wife and I decided to put him on a glucosamine supplement for the joint benefits. Today when the supplement came in my wife had to run out to the store. When she arrived home about 25 minutes later she found our dog ate the entire container for 60 500mg tablets. He was uncomfortable and couldn't really move. My wife called MWVA and they advised her to contact poison control, who directed us back to MWVA for assistance. MWVA then told her to provide him with peroxide to induce vomiting. We tried that, and unfortunately no luck! We called back and they said try it with peanut butter. Still no luck. Around 5 of 6:00 my wife called again and was told try another 1/4 tablespoon on peroxide (which was more than they told us to do the first two times). We asked if we could immediately bring him down to the vet, even though they close. The woman on the phone told us no, try the peroxide and to take him for a walk. She also said she was going to call us back and follow up with us shortly. We NEVER received a call back, and were forced to seek additional help. Clearly the woman on the phone (who represents MWVA) cares are lot more about punching out at 6:00 on the dot and couldn't care at all about her job-which is caring for animals in need. Pretty sad considering we moved over 25 minutes away and have many other closer choices for vets, but continued to bring our beloved dog to MWVA for 2 years because they were the professionals we trusted. If this is how they treat a customer on the phone, just imagine how they treat your pets when you're not around. Take it from me, NEVER go to MWVA. They don't deserve a penny of business from anyone. Adam Arzt of Metrowest Vet's has displayed the most rude and unprofessional behavior I have ever encountered in any business dealings. I have been a client with them for many years with my cats and dogs. Recently, I have had some difficulties, and called to ask for some help with a wounded cat. I was hoping he could work out a payment plan, or advice me of where I might go for further help. Not only did he refuse to help on both, but he was very cruel to me in speaking, and "anonymously" contacted the MSPCA saying the I was refusing to treat an injured animal that same day, just because I would not take the cat to him. Clearly, I was taking steps to obtain help. He didn't even have the professional courtesy to tell me he was calling them. He never even called me back to follow up on if I was making an appointment, or how my pet was doing. He really did not care. Glad to say that after my bad experience with Arzt, I was pleasantly surprised at how kind and helpful others have been to me. There truly are people out there in this business that really care. This is a very bad place for your vet needs. In light of this situation, I have learned that many others also had bad experiences here, left for another vet, and been so happy they did. Please consider any alternative veterinarian for your pets needs. Not only do they deserve the best care, but you are their only advocate. So it is important that you have a vet that communicates well with you and in a professional matter. Neither of which you will find here. read more

I HIGHLY recommend taking your pet to Dr. Papanicholas. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient and kind. Her true compassion and regard for animals is abundantly clear on every visit. She will literally be on the floor just loving on your animal. She has provided excellent care for our precious pup for many years. She's very easy to get a hold of - which is extremely important to me since we have encountered our fair share of Emergency situations. I'll first start off by saying the office staff and medical assistants were very friendly and engaging. My review is based solely on my experience with the actual veterinarian that assisted me on Saturday 10/7/17. I have been taking my two cats here for the last 11 years. I recently acquired a new cat who I had spayed, chipped and vaccinated at another clinic. I brought her here Saturday for an exam. I didn't have her updated vaccine records and I told the office when I arrived. I had moved recently and couldn't locate the paperwork in time for the appointment which was literally made the day before (on Friday). The receptionist said this wasn't a problem because they called the clinics to verify my info. Once in the exam room the veterinarian asked me the same questions. She was annoyed that I didn't have documentation and talked over me when I explained my cat's medical history. She wasn't very friendly either and kept questioning my information in a berating manner. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or if she was annoyed that I didn't have my cat's paperwork. She barely examined my cat. I won't be returning in the future. I will take my cats to Tufts Veterinarian Clinic in Grafton, which is out of my way but where I've received better service. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have used this vet since 2007. They took great care of my 2 chihuahuas who lived to be 17. However, that is only because I would request specific vets...Dr. Marci and Dr. Flounoy to be exact. I refused to have them see Dr. Arzt. Unfortunately my new puppy had an emergency so I could only have her see whoever was available. They let me on such a waiting game. Long story short...I ended up bringing my puppy to Tufts Veterinary in Grafton Thursday night because Dr. A did absolutely nothing to help. Even called to cancel her ultrasound and was going to make us wait a week. If I waited, I would no longer have my puppy. No compassion and rude especially to women!! My puppy is now 3 days in Tufts receiving treatment that could have been started sooner had they actually done something about things. I wasted $500 there!! I will never go back there again!!!!!!! read more

Nothing but good things to say about Dr. Arzt and his staff. We moved from Boston, where we had been with Angell as well as a smaller practice in Belmont. Excellent doctors and vet techs, very gentle with our pets, excellent communication with us. From a minor urinary issue with our cat - solved by switching to wet cat food, to diagnosing a torn ACL in our large lab mix, explaining the various options clearly and patiently, and referring us to a great surgeon to perform the procedure and then a wonderful rehab vet for after care, we feel that our pets are very, very well cared for here. We had been taking our Shepherd there for 4 years and had nothing but good experiences with the women vets on staff. The last time we visited before moving out of state, we took an appt with Dr. A., the only male vet on staff. He was arrogant and rude, and seemed to have no idea how to approach animals. Our dog did not like being unceremoniously jabbed with the stethoscope and wouldn't let the doctor near him after that. If we had not moved, we would never had accepted an appointment with him again. I have since heard that two other friends have moved their business elsewhere for the same reason. So go ahead and see the women veterinarians, but stay away from Dr. A. read more

Dr. Artz is incredibly disrespectful and condescending. I have had a few dealings with him regarding our pets and only have gone here out of necessity. Each time he has been arrogant and friends that have gone there all have had similar experiences. Read the other reviews that mention him specifically. I brought my 3 1/2 lb Chihuahua/Yorkie to Metro West. DR. Arts pulled FIFTEEN teeth from my 3 1/2 lb dog, when I went to pick my dog up he was basically dead. But no, Dr. Arts put my baby's limp body in a box, onto my 15 year old daughter's lap in the car and sent me to the hospital in Walpole. My poor dog died on the way there, on my daughters lap ,10 mintues down the highway after being pulled off of Dr. Arts equipment. Upon entering the hospital I had him resucitated ,only to find out you can't make a animal live just because something is filling air into its lungs. I was infomed that it shouldn't have happened. Dr. Papanicholas is a very gentle, intelligent, caring person who truly cares about my dog. She always returns my calls, answers all my questions in a very professional manner. I had been going to this vet for a number of years. I liked many of the vets there, but one, Dr A was insulting and insensitive. I had a number of negative experiences with this guy. On one occasion I brought a stool sample in to be tested as I had been encouraged to do by one of the other vets during my dogs annual exam. Even though I explained what was going on he had a condescending tone stating that he couldn't offer any assistance without examining my dog. I again explained that we were there recently and I was told to bring a sample in. He acted annoyed and was of no help. On another occasion I brought my 20 year old cat in who was vomiting frequently. Dr A (a-hole) treated me like I was abusing the cat that I loved. He basically said that because she was losing weight at some point in the future she should be euthanized to relieve her suffering. Suffering? Huh? My cat, now 2 years later, is active and happy. She purrs frequently and enjoys going outside and hanging out by the fish pond. I continued to go to Metrowest but only would be seen by Roxanne, a caring and engaging professional. When I recently called to make an appointment I learned that she had left the practice. I got on the website to look at the bios of the other vets there. It was them that I learned that Dr A owned Metrowest. No way was I going to give this uncaring a hole my business anymore. We found a new vet who is caring and wonderful. Looking back I can now see that his motives were financially based and not compassionate. read more

Having awoke this morning to an unresponsive French poodle and looking at MVA's website to see their hours of operation (open 8 am); I walked 2 miles carrying my dying baby in my arms to their office. I am visually impaired and am unable to drive and left before they opened so I just hurried to get there. Upon arrival I realized I was there a bit early so sat and waited. There was a handy man about 10 meters from where I was sitting on the front step. He kept looking over at me and talking to someone behind the fence. When I noticed that it was already 20 minutes after 8 I asked the man if he knew why they were not open yet and he in an derisive manner told me that they were closed for fourth of July weekend and I should have called before I came there. He let me sit there in the heat of the morning all that time and said nothing to me. I asked him if there was anyone there and he told me no. I then told him that I had walked 2 miles with a dying dog. The handy man yelled at me his voice going up several octaves, "its not my fault so don't yell at me". This is the American mentality and motto...I didn't do it so I'm not going to do anything about it to fix it. No compassion just cold and uncompassionate. I told him I wasn't yelling at him that I was just upset he then went on to verbally attack me about needing to call first and this wouldn't have happened. I again asked him if there was anyone there and then said anyone at all at which he again replied no. As I begin to go I apologized for any tone I may have had but that I was just upset for my dying dog. He told me he has animals too but that didn't give me a right to be a bitch. I then told him (sarcastically) that I was so sorry and as I passed him I said under my breath deuce. The gate swung open and the woman from their office came out screaming at me using my full name. She was there the whole time and said she listened to the whole conversation. The handy man had lied to me and did not tell me, she didn't make her presence known to offer water or the use of a phone to call someone. As I walked back toward the rode I doubled back to go to CVS to make a call and get water for my dog and I could hear her telling the man about my animals and my visits and personal information. The website had nothing about being closed for July fourth or not accepting emergency walk-ins. I have been going to MVA for 8 years because it is the closest one to me within walking distance. I have spent thousands of dollars there and endured Dr Arsts rude and condescending manner from day one. I have had enough I will not be returning. I will however be calling my attorney. read more
