Extremely disappointing experience. I waited over two hours past my scheduled appointment time, only to feel like I was being pressured into unnecessary services -- more like dealing with a pushy salesperson than a veterinary professional. If I could give this place a -5 star review, I would. thisis the Worst animal hospital to deal with an overall just the worst company I would never bring another pet of mine to Banfield in general. Especially the Bellingham Hospital and Dr. Rosewood has absolutely no bedside manners no class. My dog went in for his annual physical. He is anemic right off the bat she said I should consider the quality of life for him I should be in his shoes for 48 and think if he would want to be alive. his kidneys could be failing he could have cancer. So I brought him to another animal Hospital. I had asked to get a senior panel blood test done which Banfield apparently already performed, but was willing to sell me one anyways because I had asked to have one done, they didn't inform me because of his age that they had already done one. The only way I found out was from Charles River animal Hospital. Upon bringing him to Charles River animal Hospital, he is healthy. He is still anemic, but barely and Banfield had me under feeding my dog only 2 cups a day when the food he is on calls for 5 cups a day for his size. Overall, if you bring your pet to Banfield in Bellingham and see Dr. Rosewood, please change for your own good and for your pets good. Bellingham Ma site is awful..... Treats your pet as a cash cow. That's it. You get no sense of compassion at all. They over charge for simple services. I bring my pet back for a booster shot and get charged full price $125 for an office visit after I already paid $350 for an initial visit. Wouldn't have minded so bad, but I didn't even talk to the vet. They hand you the receipt and send you on your way. I won't be back. Don't go there. Worst vet ever been to, stay away!! A staff member of PetSmart injured our dog and the vet at Banfield covered it up for them. Our 20lb dog went in for grooming, same as many times previously. A new inexperienced groomer tried to pull our dog by her front leg from the kennel room and injured her leg! Then the groomer tries to tell us the dog is aggressive which it has never been ever! This dog actually likes getting a bath and grooming, just doesn't like being abused! read more

I am incredibly upset and disappointed with my experience at Banfield. My dog had a broken dew claw and I asked my father to bring him in to have it trimmed back. It was what I thought would be a simple visit for a nail trim. This visit ended up costing $500! For some reason this visit included more than a nail trim but two costly blood panels. All this was completely unnecessary but I figured they trimmed his crooked nail and it wouldn't irritate him. Only, they didn't! Coming home from work I looked at the nail and it was untrimmed, broken and clearly uncomfortable. After calling to confirm, they said that they didn't trim it because they didn't want to make it worse. My dog was obsessively licking at his paw for the past week, once it was trimmed, he has not acknowledged it once. I would say leaving it alone "made it worse". They did not do the one thing that was needed and caused my dog to be in discomfort for a week until we brought him to another vet. But I am mostly disgusted with how they made my father feel. My father took our dog to the vet as a favor to me. He signed off on these procedures because he knows how much my dog means to me and was told these were necessary. My dad is an older man and has never taken a pet to the vet before. This office is no better than a mechanic taking advantage of a young girl coming in for an oil change and being upselling ridiculous add-ons. He couldn't tell that he was being taken advantage and no one should be made to feel that way. read more

Do not take your animal here for any kind of medical care. I was appalled at their treatment and neglect of my 2 year old dog. Dr. Fisher did not offer any kind of compassion in my dogs wellness. Doctor Rose was awful, we ended up walking out mid visit and scheduled at another Banfield. Our dog was 1.5yrs old and was nervous to be there. We used the phrase "it's ok puppy" and some other baby talk as comfort. The rude doctor very insultingly started criticising and talking down to us for referring to and talking to our dog that way. Our dog was not a threat but Dr. Rose then began treating her as if she was. She muzzled our dog and basically became very upset due to personal issues. The vet aids were all wonderful but Rose was a real disappointment. Request a different vet. My dog has since passed from lymphoma and I hope this woman can sleep at night. read more

Stay away!!!! Brought my kitty in this morning due to a little coughing. Was told I had to drop him off, and that it would cost $415 for an x-ray of his chest, approx. $150 for blood work, and don't forget the cost for an exam. Seriously, I have questioned the prices here before, and the fact that they gouge you on prescriptions when you can get them online for over half of what they charge. Do yourself a favor and avoid this overpriced business at all cost (they need to get over themselves and stop charging outrageous costs to support their lifestyles). I am so thankful for this hospital and all the care they have provided to my fur babies. The staff is honest and direct- they are advocating for the pets, and what is in the pets best interest. The plans are more than affordable- I could easily spend $500 in one visit anywhere else. The staff has a good sense of humor and they work extremely hard. This place is just an absolute nightmare. The staff is incredibly unfriendly and lazy, and this location is pure chaos. One tech had me weigh my dog and shout the weight to her as she sat by the desk - she didn't even both getting up to check his weight; I could've said anything and she would've taken it. My dog needed a script for Trazodone because they refuse to see him without it (really messed up if you ask me) and I called 2 weeks prior to his appointment for it. I was told they will fill it and call me so I can pick it up - to no one's surprise, I never received a call. I followed up multiple times via phone and they've been closed because of staffing. Jill, the tech I spoke to on the phone, completely lied and pinned it on me, saying they've been trying to reach me the days leading up to my dog's appointment (they weren't even working so how were they reaching out to me leading up to his appointment??). I am glued to my phone for work and never miss a phone call. If I do miss a call, it's responded to almost immediately. She then said because I couldn't pick up the script LAST MINUTE that they need to cancel the appointment I made over 2 months ago. This place doesn't value their patients and doesn't even attempt to create a safe and calming environment for pets that are anxious about vet visits. I dread coming here for appointments because of how chaotic it always is and how poorly they treat nervous pets. After being lied to, I finally decided I need to cut ties with this awful place and am moving to a different vet. It's unbelievable how this place continues to stay afloat with how it's currently operating. Something needs to be done with this place because it is truly hell on earth. read more

We have been using the Johnston Banfield location for almost 5 years now. We have seen a lot of staff come and go which can be concerning considering you want to see the same faces who know and love your pet. The plan is great for those who want to keep up with vaccines and can wait about a month for a walk in visit. (sometimes sooner if you're on the call out list and someone actually cancels their visit time which you can make...) The plan covers dental cleanings, walk in visits, vaccines, and all other check in procedures (fecal testing, de-worm meds, etc) for I think it's like $40 a dog. We pay like $500 a year for all of this and I know a visit alone can cost $80 just to walk in at most places, let alone all this includes and a cleaning alone is almost $350. So yes, this deal is amazing! We see Dr. Carlson who has been there I think like 2.5 years of the 5 which is nice to always see her face but I am nervous if (and almost when) she leaves. She's great with my pups and at this point, knows them and has their history. BUT, with that said, it is a revolving door. New faces at the front every visit. New doctors often as well. And as mentioned, if you need a walk in TODAY, don't plan on it. I do have a back-up vet I see for emergencies and on occasion so she can maintain a relationship with my dog. But factor that in and it's about another $100 without emergency visits. (which thankfully only happened once). Most of the time you do wait about 20 minutes for a room and now with COVID it's about the same but you don't go in the room with them, they just take your dog in the back and then come back with him/her and notes from the visit. It's hard but understandable. So I guess my overall review on this place is if I could be seen at the drop of a hat if something was wrong and didn't see faces come and go, I would give a much higher rating because what we do get from them, is amazing! :) read more

They have no business calling themselves a Pet Hospital.....The vet is incapable and hostile, staff moronic.. and frankly, had we came back for the second week followup that was recommended by Banfield, our pet would have died (the new vet we have now took the blood tests that should have been taken on our visit at Banfield, and found a problem). Additionally, Banfield came back after the initial treatment, after we had discussed pricing, and decided to charge us more. When we naturally questioned this, they became very hostile. Everyone here is fairly nice, including Dr. Rose. My dog was in rough shape - we had pretty much given up on her ever having fur on her back after several horrible years at another vet. It took a while (we're talking 2 months) to get an appointment, and I was turned away more than once for urgent matters, but I'm glad we finally stuck it out and got in. The only thing I don't like about this vet is the pricing. Not for the services - good vets warrant charging more for their time - but the markup on medications and other products is just astronomical. They don't give you the option to buy medications, supplements, etc. from them or from somewhere else so it's just a surprise at the end when you're paying $75 for a bottle of antibiotics for an ear infection that cost $38 online. My recommendation for anyone going here is to just ask for a prescription for medications or supplements and then to go order them from 1-800-PetMeds. Banfield charges exactly twice the 1-800-PetMeds price. That's more than likely a corporate decision, so I can't blame the people there at all, just something to be aware of. read more

I will never use this vet again!!! After my cat had surgery in November, (which was thank god at a different clinic or my cat might have not survived) he needs regular check ups. I had to drop him off for the majority of the day. When I called 6 hours later because nobody got in contact with me they said he was ready to go but I can't pick him up yet because "they just went on lunch break and I have to wait for another hour". My cat is terrified of staying at a vet since his surgery and I didn't want to leave him there any longer than necessary. When I got there they were unable to clasp his harness. They refused to let me see him before I purchased a carrier even though I told them he always responds to me when he is scared. We had to go to other vets over 20 times in the past 6 years because he has health problems and EVERY SINGLE TIME when the vet couldn't handle him because he was scared they'd call me to come and hold him. After they insisted that I couldn't see my cat I went to get a carrier. I heard him scream in the back when they put him in. They insisted that I should not take him out of the carrier for 2 hours after I got home in 95 degree weather. He was hungry and thirsty. Of course I didn't do such a thing and the second I was in the car with him I took him out. He was shaking and immediately curled up on my lap terrified. That's when I noticed that several of his claws were broken off and one of them was bleeding. They shoved him in the carrier with all their might, after not wanting to give him to me on the leash. Needless to say I was shaking and furious. When we called to complain we were hung up on. I went there to get things sorted out and Dr. Rose was very rude and blamed it on the cat. I am sorry but you are supposed to be trained for that. Cats can react out of fear and you as a vet need to be able to deal with that and not give him back to me injured and with a bill for $300. Which was twice the amount I was quoted. And for future reference please don't call me "honey" when I am trying to explain to you how utterly ridiculous it is that I am taking my cat to a vet and getting him back injured and in pain!!! They also never told me he was hurt by them. They are rude, talk down to you and refuse to hand over your animal. read more

Love this place! Everyone is so, so friendly and knowledgeable, from the people behind the desk to the doctors, and they remember our puppy every time we bring him in. It's easy to stay on track with all of the vaccinations and check-ups that he needs as he grows up. What has really been great for us is the ability to drop our dog off in the morning for a check-up when he's not feeling well and pick him up after work--this makes it possible for us to make sure everything's okay even though both my husband and I work full-time. I totally recommend signing up for their plan, it's been great for us so far and makes us feel like we're taken care of if something terrible were to happen. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about the service I receive at this Banfield location. I have 5 dogs and I have had a lifetime of experience with veterinarians; I have found that the hallmark of a lazy/burnout vet is one that will just throw antibiotics at every problem, whether it requires it or not. I am impressed that as many times that I have had to visit them I have only left the office once with antibiotics (and the situation definitely warranted them). They were so accommodating when my 13 year old mastiff was diagnosed with bone cancer, and they were very compassionate when she had passed. I don't know what we would do if Dr. Flessas ever left, she and the other staff are beyond wonderful. read more

I started my puppy here because they offer the wellness package where you pay monthly (which is great, not sure if I got my moneys worth but it was still great at the time). I give them only 1 star because I got my dog spayed here and while she was getting spayed they were supposed to microchip her. Well about a month after her procedure, I get a voice mail saying that something went wrong and they found the microchip on the ground and she needs to come back in so they can give her a new one. When I called back they said the micro chip was still in the needle. It all seemed very fishy to me. Since I already paid for it I went in to get it re-done by them and never went back. If you're going to tell me it's on the ground a month later, are you telling me you don't clean your floors? If you're going to tell me you found it in the needle, you're saying you still have the needle lying around? I think not. My opinion, you forgot to do it and didn't want to admit that you just forgot. I do not and will never recommend this veterinary facility. read more

We have been bringing our animals here for 8 years and never once had a bad experience. The vet techs seem like the genuinely care about the animals, and take the time to ask questions and interact with your pet. When our animals have had any medical problems, the vet has called to discuss treatment options, and always follow up to see how they are doing afterwards. I would highly recommend this vet. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but I'm willing to pay for quality pet care. read more

We bought the care package to avoid the 'nickle and diming' that other folks complained about and can't be happier - in fact, the free regular visits that I wouldn't have been doing without the care package caught an illness that could have become serious. I would chose this place only if you are looking for the following: Having your pet physically scarred Having your pet "traumatized" Seeing your Pet in incredible pain Having your Pet lose the ability to walk Having the medical staff go directly against your wishes Being treated like your pet is a burden The manager stands by her position that she is "not medical staff" and has no accountability for any malpractice. The response to any concern is to hang up on you when you call. If this is how the leadership in the building treats its patients and customers no wonder the staff is so unpleasant. If you are thinking about trying this place for your pets, please consider giving them up for adoption first. That may be a safer route for the puppy. read more

Dr. Fisher treats our pets like they were her own. Offered to help make our pets more comfortable in the office, by allowing us to stay in the room while they took blood and gave shots. She speaks to us and her staff kindly and really listens to our questions and concerns. I drive over 30 minutes to visit Banfield in Bellingham and will continue to do so as long as Dr. Fisher and her staff are at this location! read more

DO NOT SEE DOCTOR ROSE. First experience she told my sisters who had a shy and scared dog that my sister is giving her dog a "terrible life". Then when I got my own dog shortly after she proceeded to tell me that I can't carry my 3 month old dog that I have had for 3 days prier to the visit. She told me she was "a brat" and a "drama queen" and we need to fix that. My dog is a Shepard mix and she was basically shitting on Shepard's. My dog was 3 months old at the time and we have had her for less then a week. She was scared and didn't know any better nor learned anything yet. The way she speaks to her clients is very unprofessional and sickening how she can say she cares for animals. The thing that really set me off is that I went and saw another doctor at the Banfield in Bellingham. We were going to do a DNA blood sample for our dog, the doctor told us our puppy was freaking out and they couldn't get it done for us. The next time we went we unknowingly had doctor Rose and she came back and told us that she got the blood sample and I said "omg you did, how? the other doctor said she couldn't get it cause our puppy was freaking out too much" She then proceeded to say and I quote "She had no choice". Thinking about what she did to her in that room makes me sick. Again do not see doctor Rose. read more

We have have been going to Banfield for quite a while. I find their paperwork missleading. Their system prints out all sorts of exam results as checked as a default. When you talk to them, you find out that the 30 pages of your bill are mostly BS. This is a corporation, not a medical establishment. read more

Let me first start out by saying that I never ever leave reviews good or bad for anything but this warrants it. My shih Tzu Jagger is 14 & had been going to Bellingham vet w/ Dr Rose. Dr Rose left to go to Banfield so of course I left too even though I heard from several people that since it was taking over by corporate it was horrible but my dog loves Dr Rose. First time was great, second time they messed up & were going to have my dog see a tech (he has to have his anal expressed) & I'm not having anyone do it but his Dr. Third time they cancel on me, which was fine because Dr Rose had worked 7 days stratight (she is the only dr there at this point). Then my dog has had some very loose stools & had been waking me up every 2 hours to go out side. He has no fever, has been drinking water & eating & running around like he always does but there has to be something wrong. I called to get an apt & she can't squeeze me in so I said then can she prescribe what she did the last time he had this problem & then when she is available she can check him out. They said no she has to see him which before she would have just prescribe something for him. She can't see me until next week sometime so what if something is really wrong with my dog. I called Acorn in Franklin because my friend & Jaggers groomer recommend them & they are fitting me in today & I have never been there. I guess everyone was right & this place is cooperate now & they donlt care about animals like they use too. read more

I have been going to Banfield- Bellingham since 2014 with my Dog. I have seen Dr. Fleece and Dr. Murphy in the past. They were wonderful vets and I never had any issues. Last Friday my dog was taken in for an appointment to check for Lyme disease. (He has had it multiple times in the past) The process has always been for two blood tests to be completed. One test (c6) takes several days to come back. The process in the past has been the Vet prescribes a few days of Doxycycline (an antibiotic) to start giving my dog and if the results from the C6 came back positive they would prescribe the remainder of the 28 day supply. Today we saw Dr Rose. I have never been so upset or disappointed in a vet service as I was today. The initial process was the same. The two blood tests were completed (which I later found out from a different provider were not necessary and do not give you a definite answer or diagnosis) one of which will take several days for the results, only this time Dr. Rose refused to prescribe the 5 day supply of the antibiotic. When I told her that was the process we had followed in the past with this hospital and the other Vets, she told me that was not true and she had read through my dog's file. According to her no where in the file did it state the process I had described. I had a print out of the records done at the office and started going through them. At this point Dr. Rose decided she was done talking to me and vanished into the back. When I found the section of the file that confirmed what I had been saying and asked the Tech to show Dr. Rose, the tech came back and said that Dr. Rose said that is not how she treats animals. I have two issues with this. 1. My dog should receive the same level of care and compassion regardless of what vet sees them and 2. The fact that Dr Rose didn't even have the decency to come out from the back and acknowledge that my dog in fact did received the care I described previously and all she said was "That isn't my process." is insulting, rude and unprofessional. So I left with a sick dog at home who isn't interested in eating and sleeps all day not feeling well as I wait for this test to come back. I also called another vet that I use to deal with and they confirmed giving my dog Doxycycline for 5 days would not be harmful to him. The test came back on Monday and showed elevated levels which "could" be caused by Lyme. Dr. Rose prescribed 600 mg of Doxycycline, 200 mg more of medication that he has ever been prescribed in the past and he is 10lbs lighter than he has ever been. (Currently 91 lbs) When I questioned the difference again I was told that is what she recommends and will not fill a lower dose. I did research and again called another Vet and the recommended dosage was between 2-5mg per pound which would be a max of 500 mg daily. Because Dr. Rose refused to treat my dog with a dosage I felt comfortable with, I was forced to go to another vet in my area to get treatment for my dog where I felt confident in the capabilities of the Vets as well as the treatment of my animal. By far the worst experience ever. I should not be tears when trying to get my dog treatment. The Banfield organization should be embarrassed. I brought my dog to another vet for a second opinion and sure enough he was only given a dose of 400 mg based on his weight and not the 600 mg Dr Rose refused to lower. My dog was treated and sent home with everything he needed in a matter of an hour at my new vet. Something I have been trying to accomplish for 5 days at Banfield. Beware of the Bellingham location. Dr Rose does not have your animals well being as a top priority. Her priority is her ego while your animal suffers. read more

This is review is in response to the latest pet visit. Although I have to give kudo's to the vet tech's, the Dr. is the one who is being reviewed here. It is NOT Dr. Flessas, let's be clear about that. If she had been there that day none of this would have happened. We brought our pet in in heart failure, knowing she was coming. the Dr. refused to treat her immediately and still made her suffer and wait over 2 hours to be seen/ She just had them stick her in a stuffy room only to have her lungs fill up with fluid, defecate and pee all over herself, still no one did anything. Who does that? They are supposed to triage pets like people. What ever happened to what's on the sign in the lobby, "if any sick or injured pet comes in it will be seen first". We begged to have someone see her. That sure as hell didn't happen. I will never take another pet back to any Banfield again. We cancelled all our plans. read more

I had my cat on the so called "wellness Plan" for 7 years. After a so called comprehensive well being check my beautiful cat had a stroke! They never checked his blood pressure during this comprehensive exam?? Then when I brought him in they kept me waiting over an hour with my cat and me sitting there crying. $2000 at another pet hospital that save my cats life. Now banfield is attempting to extort an additional 170 dollars out of me for the unused portion of the plan. Buyer beware. this so called hospital is for animals in best of health and if a health issue arises don't count on BANFIELD to be there for you. Worst experience I have ever had with a Pet Hospital!! Find out beforehand the Vets credentials and where they are trained. Absolutely disgusted with the way the new doctor described my dog as "biter and scratcher". They even put a note on his crate that stated "biter/scratcher". My dog did neither of these. He was anxious to have his paws checked. He has been biting his paws and they are clearly bothering him. But since the vet could not get a hold of his paws (neither have I and I am his owner what dog wants his only form of defense touched and poked?) he labeled him as aggressive. And now we are not able to drop him off for a check up. So, now if something is wrong with my pup, I cannot drop him off due to the vet not being able to do his/her job? Sounds like someone needs to re-evaluate their career choice. This never happens with the precious vet at this location. Ever since the change in vets at this location I have never wanted to take my dog back. I HIGHLY recommend not going to this vet if you are looking for one.
