The food was delicious, but the drinks were what really stood out to me--they were creative, well-made, and definitely worth ordering. The service was excellent as well. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus and was able to answer all of our questions and make great recommendations. Between the views, the food, the cocktails, and the service, it made for a great experience. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Daytona.

An experience so nice, we went twice!…read more We discovered this lovely gem on a recent stay in Daytona Beach. Our first night in town, we seemed to be striking out on restaurants that offered more than one or two items gluten free. That is, until I found the menu online for mama foo foo. I can say with confidence that Mama Foo Foo knows how to do gluten free food the right way. Our first visit was for dinner, and the ambiance was on point. Perfectly lit, short wait, cool art, and great music. The waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten free options, and even offered alternatives when she discovered that they were out of gluten free crackers for the burrata and fig. My dinner, the honey glazed scallops with lobster risotto and grilled carrots, was prepared perfectly. The staff was attentive, refilling drinks and water and checking in regularly. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food. A solid five star visit. It was so good in fact that we came back a few days later for brunch to enjoy their signature wagyu smash burger. I opted for the breakfast version (fried egg, avocado and tomato relish toppings) while my husband went with the more traditional lunch version. Again, the waiter was attentive and immediately knew to advise me that the fries were dusted with flour and offered alternatives. The grapefruit dressing on the salad was delish! Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu the next time we are in town.

Drop whatever you are doing and go!…read more Zanzibar is an intimate yet unique live jazz music experience literally in the basement of a historical house. Beer and wine is served in a highly welcoming setting. Tonight, it was someone's birthday and they were handing out slices of cake to everyone there. The live performance was PHENOMENAL. Amy A. Hall, a vocalist, was performing with a back up band, which included covers of mainstream R&B songs. People were dancing and moving on the floor and in their seats. Cannot say enough good things. There is also an outdoor sports bar in the garage as well as a barber shop area and an AirBNB upstairs. Whatever you are doing... go!

Nestled in the basement below what looks like a vintage barbershop, this classy speakeasy transports you straight into an intimate live music lounge -- dim lighting, cozy seating, soulful music, and an atmosphere that feels like you've stepped back in time. What truly sets Zanzibar Blu apart is the personal touch from owner Kenneth Hunt who welcomes every guest as if you're stepping into his home. He's often there to help seat people, chat with patrons, and make you feel instantly comfortable. His vision for the space shines in every corner of the décor -- he handpicked authentic, fully functioning antiques and memorabilia (many of which he's said to have brought over from his childhood home in Philadelphia) that give the place a real story and personality. Live music is the heart of the experience here. There's always a mix of blues, talented local jazz musicians, and smooth sounds that keep the vibe lively yet relaxed. Whether you're celebrating a special night out or just craving something off the usual bar circuit of Daytona biker bars, Zanzibar Blu delivers. And if you're in town long enough, check out the Hunt House vacation rental upstairs -- Kenneth's other passion project that perfectly complements the speakeasy below. Highly recommend!!!

I noticed later in the evening, when the lobby was packed with new guests checking in, he maintained his pleasant demeanor. Definitely a gem at the front desk! I want to point out that this property does not charge for parking & has no resort fee. Parking did seem to be plentiful as we found a great spot quickly. Also, the free breakfast buffet was better than average. I was excited to see that the pool had finally been refurbished & was allegedly open, but we weren't able to access it at 9:15pm on a Friday night, though signage & Gerald at the front desk said the pool area was open until 10pm. This also meant that beach access was not available at this time from hotel grounds. As it was cold by Florida standards that night, lack of beach & pool access weren't deal-breaking but disappointing nonetheless. Our room offered a decent side-ocean-view from our balcony, and I enjoyed peeping the sunrise on Saturday morning from my bed. I was disappointed to notice that our balcony had no seating, but again, it was chilly so not a big deal. I hope patio chairs are on their reno list. And I also hope they look at replacing some of the in-room furniture. The *cozy corner* sofa has seen better decades, And the dresser below the TV was even more dated. In fact, the top drawer wouldn't stay closed (we weren't using it) and that became a running joke. As did the un-vacuumed carpeting in our room. The ice machine on our floor didn't seem to work, but I also noticed a sign noting it was only in-service certain hours (?!). I went to another floor and found a working ice machine, but was confused by that weird restriction. It was definitely within the specified operating window, but we already knew we couldn't access the pool area during the open times so I guess those are loose timeframes. The bathroom in our room was immaculate and the bedding was fresh (you know I checked the mattresses). We also had plenty of pillows, which I appreciated. Gerald at the front desk was fantastic & he didn't forget my free bottled waters as a Discoverist. That next morning, hubs woke up early as usual & caught sunrise from the sand, so he was thrilled with our stay here just for that & the buffet breakfast (which was good). We'll certainly visit again, and hope they update the room furniture & don't lock up everything too early.

I came to McCoy's Rum Room while traveling solo in Daytona beach for a weekend (and was staying at…read morethe Hilton). I REALLY enjoyed my experience here. I felt it was difficult (within walking distance from the Hilton) to find nicer bars where you could lounge, enjoy the ambiance, and also have a nicer selection of wine and spirits. So I'm glad I (literally) didn't have to walk anywhere to enjoy exactly that. This is what made my experience at McCoy's Rum Room great: - I love the decor. The plush couches. The finishes and thoughtful touches they added (like the lighting and curtains). The space comes together nicely, is airy and spacious, welcoming and posh. - I liked (not loved) the drink list. The wine selection for red was on point, bubbly was a little low class, but the cocktail list seemed fun and I enjoyed a Raspberry Collins - Which the bartender was happy to accommodate my additional asks (less sugar, extra lime) and in general, he was SO friendly, attentive and nice. - They have a short but GOOD bar food menu that included bigger items (like burgers) and a nice selection of light bites (I had the hummus plate, which was really nice, and also quite inexpensive ($8) and LARGE). Good thing I was drunk and hungry. I really enjoyed this bar. I recommend it and when I come back to Daytona and stay at the Hilton, I'll definitely be back!
