The vibe inside Mexcal was a club and resturant mixed. We went for dinner on Saturday, caught the world cup game and they had a DJ playing music. The location was packed. Plenty of parking. We were sat and helped quickly. We ordered shrimp ceviche which was good. We had a large sample of the menu and liked most things ordered. The only item I did not like was the "cheese enchilada" which was tortilla woth queso fresco inside crumbled. We will be back and will try other items on the menu. I would recommend going for a game day. The atmosphere was nice for the game but not friendly for conversation. read more

I've driven past Mexcal Cantina Pacifico countless times and have often noticed soccer matches playing throughout the restaurant, so when my husband and I wanted to watch a specific game, this seemed like the perfect place to go. Before arriving, we called ahead to confirm that the match would be shown. The employee who answered assured us that it would be playing and advised us to remind our server once we arrived. When we checked in, the host immediately recognized our call, confirmed that the game would be shown, and even stated she would notify management herself in addition to informing our waitress. Unfortunately, that's where the communication seemed to end. Once seated, we again informed our waitress, Flor, who promptly relayed the request. The game began, yet not a single television in the restaurant was showing it. Halftime came and went while the numerous screens throughout the establishment continued to display commercials and unrelated programming. Eventually, we gave up and began watching the match on our phones. What stood out most was that Flor genuinely cared. When she noticed us watching the game on our phones, she immediately stepped in, followed up yet again, and continued advocating on our behalf. She was attentive, professional, and clearly doing everything within her power to help. Had this review been based solely on her service, it would have been a completely different rating. After approximately 45 minutes, management finally changed one of the televisions. Unfortunately, they didn't verify the teams or match details and simply selected the wrong game entirely. It was clear that little attention had been paid to the actual request. What disappointed me most wasn't the fact that the game wasn't shown, it was the lack of follow-through. Multiple employees acknowledged the request, management was informed more than once, and there was ample opportunity to resolve the issue. Instead, there seemed to be very little urgency, communication, or attention to detail. With major international tournaments and the World Cup drawing closer, establishments that market themselves as destinations for soccer fans should be prepared to accommodate something as fundamental as showing the requested match, especially after confirming it beforehand. As for the food, it unfortunately did not redeem the experience. We only ordered appetizers, but they were underwhelming and forgettable. The one bright spot of the evening was Flor. She demonstrated the kind of customer service that keeps guests willing to give a place another chance. Management, however, failed to support her efforts. I genuinely wanted to enjoy this visit after passing by the restaurant so many times, but the overall experience left much to be desired. My family and I came here on a Sunday evening, I was looking forward to sit outside since the weather was beautiful however as soon as we mentioned it, the host said it may be too loud for our little one. We stepped outside anyway, sure enough the freeway was very noisy but the music was not too bad. Instead we sat inside where the ambiance was noisy but not too loud as they are a cantina so some noise is to be expected. We were immediately greeted by our waitress, she took our order and brought our drinks out quickly. We ordered the Watermelon frida and Como La Flor, they were good but strong. Now, our food took about 15-20 minutes to come out which seemed like a lot for the amount of people there. We ordered the parrillada Mezcal, the serving was more than enough to feed both my husband and daughter. We all really enjoyed the tasty food and ambiance, we will definitely be back. read more

Extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Our bill was supposed to be split, and I left cash to cover my portion, but instead of applying it correctly, they charged my brother for almost the entire tab while keeping the cash I had already paid. On top of that, the waitress added herself a $30 tip without permission or approval. Mistakes can happen, but handling customers' money like this is unacceptable. We tried to make sense of the charges and it was obvious the bill was handled incorrectly. I recommend everyone double-check their receipts and bank statements before leaving. I had a great overall experience! I liked the fact that security checks people's bags. It's a good safety precaution some places don't enforce, especially when alcohol is involved. Well, after one of our tournaments, we were looking for a place for all of us to go eat and we stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant. It's out on I 45 and it was the old Joe's Crab shack. As far as the looks of this restaurant. It is gorgeous. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. A beautiful bar. The service was very good. The waiters waitresses host, etc. they were all so very very nice. There was about 10 of us. We mainly ordered the Mexican food - the fajitas and flautas and quesadillas with the beans and rice and pico de gallo. Our beef / chicken fajitas for one was plenty for the two of us. The chicken was very flavorful. The beef was pretty tender. The charro beans were so good. They were flavored so well. The rice was good. The pico de gallo left a little to be desired but they did put a pepper that they grilled on top of the fajitas and let me tell you it was hot. There was definitely a kick behind it. One of the ladies got the salmon and she said it was excellent. I took a picture of the top of the salmon plate but not from the side so you can't see that this salmon fillet is about 2 1/2 inches thick. It was a lot and she said it was flavored so well. The flautas were good. The quesadillas, they said the beef was very tender. A Friend got the enchiladas and he really really liked them . So the amount of food you get is a lot for the price. The prices are medium. They're not super expensive. There was a lady that came around took pictures of our table, and then she came back with them in a frame and offered for us to buy them for $20 apiece. So that's why they're taking your picture. We think this place is probably more known for their seafood. They have a lot and one of our guys said he will definitely be coming back to try the octopus. He said it looked really good. So, if you're in the mood for Mexican food and you're at I 45 go ahead and go by. Just the beauty alone the Murial of Selena and Freda are done so well. The patio has a humongous TV on it. This a review based on the food only. The vibes here are cool. It's a nice hangout restaurant for drinks only. I've came about 5 times now and no matter what I get the food is always over cooked or bland. So I just give up. I'll be coming here for frozen margaritas only. I got the ceviche tostada which was probably the only good thing on the menu. The wings are okay too. I got fried octopus and it was almost too burned (fried hard) to eat. I got the fish with rice and French fries and again super crispy extra fried and it had no flavor. I won't be coming to oder food here anymore. But I'll be here for the party scene. read more

This particular cantina is very racist in their service. This is a preordered and pre- arrangment to seat a particular group at 1pm. There were no servers designated for our group upon arrival. I saw one server who could take the order because she cannot speak English. We were there from 1pm and we waited till 330pm, no food. They were busy serving their Hispanic families that come in. Discrimination was in plain sight. The managers were plainly irresponsible and that should not happen in America. Why would you pre-planned with a restaurant regarding a group, but on coming to the restaurant, there were no servers for the group. The few servers were more comfortable to go to their people to speak their language and serve them. Someone should look into this. My advise is that if you not a Mexican or Hispanic origin or if you cannot speak Spanish, do not go to this restaurant. They only serve their own otherwise what else would make them treat other people that do not look like them in this way? We ended up leaving the restaurant after 3 hrs without eating food. WoW! This place is amazing! It's beautifully decorated and their patio is beautiful! The Selena tribute is so gorgeous! Then go inside to see this huge dining area with plenty of tables to serve large or small groups. A well-stocked bar with plenty to choose from! The service is friendly and prompt! We were with a large group celebrating a birthday and the staff was on point with their service! We were waited on promptly and given great service. She brought our drinks, water, and food out fast despite us arriving late and adding our order in. Once the food came out, it was brought hot and fresh and OMG was it delicious! Those fajitas are so tasty and tender! Oh and if you visit on a Friday night, you're in for a real treat! A real BANDA comes through with all of the 25+ members playing horns, trumpets, and tubas! So, there's potential here. Not sure how much, but as dad would say, it's got "good bones." I kept driving past on 45, thinking it looks pretty cool from the outside- and that continues inside, too, with large facial artwork with accents of neon lights on the walls. There's at least two dozen TVs surrounding the main dining room, and a big screen outside on the large patio. Hubs made the comment that this place probably doubles as a dance hall with the full-wall bar on the weekends, if you just moved the tables out of the way. They certainly have the sound system for it- with only three tables occupied, the tejano music is reverberating off every hard surface. The menu is tiny. And I mean, really. Tiny. Carnitas (street taco style) for both hubby and me. Along with quac to get us started. Food was ok. The guac had a nice flavor to it (but needed a dosing of pico de gallo, tbh). The carnitas were just ok, nothing to really write home about. I wish this place the best, and maybe a random Thursday evening (with a massive rainstorm brewing outside) isn't its best, but even with as cute as it looks outside, it just doesn't have the substance inside to bring me back. This is a new spot. Me and my sister went for lunch and was disappointed with the food. The server let us know it was happy hour time that ends at 2pm. Happy hour times are usually scheduled later in the day at other restaurants, but we did get to get margaritas for a good price. I asked if the Chile's rellenos will be fried and the server said yes, it comes with spicy sauce, and I asked the server to put the sauce on the side. When my order came out it was not fried, and the sauce was on the food. I was not offered to have it redone. The rice is very plain. The manager didn't come over to see if everything was good. Any place that greets you with a larger than life image of Selena has to be great, right? Absolutely right! There's even a cocktail named after her! And, the cocktails are tasty, with many to choose from. The apps also came in many varieties, including chicharrones, tilapia, shrimp, and octopus. (I plan to try the tilapia chicharrones next time!) The food comes at a great price point and the servings are generous. The service was at the 22% level. But the winner for the experience was the live music followed by the DJ. Stopped in for lunch on Thursday with co-workers as we wanted to check out the place for a potential Happy Hour spot after work and so glad we did so before sending out the invitation to our other co-workers. First let's start off with the good- parking was plenty, for those who don't know this restaurant is where the old Joe's Crabshack used to be (next to Saltgrass). From the outside, you can see there's seating indoors and outdoors, big screen tv's can be seen, the look of the restaurant has a good vibe inside and outside. Now moving on to the not-so-great... it was only three of us for lunch, we walked in, no hostess around to greet us or seat us, so we were basically standing and looking around the whole place, reading the screens advertising upcoming daily specials that includes Sushi Fridays -this was different considering it's a Mexican restaurant. There was only one table eating so really not sure why no one was at the front nonetheless we waited and finally were seated. Once the menus were placed on the table which included drink menu specials , and let me just say, we almost got up and left right then and there. The prices were on the very high end for the drinks, the lunch menu was also on the higher pricing but we figured it must be loaded with flavors so we didn't mind paying more on food. We ordered beef fajitas, chicken fajitas, and taquitos because you can't go wrong with the classics right? Wrong--- the food was very bland---lacked flavor tasted as though the meat was thrown on the skillet right from the packaging and the waitress came to tell us they don't have flour tortillas ready it would be 5-7 minutes, so we opted to do without (but a couple minutes later they brought us flour tortillas) Again I don't mind paying for a good meal but this lunch was a disappointment for sure as you will see from my boxed to-go container. This place was OK, the food was good, the menu was OK I wasn't really impressed but I'm sure that this place has a lot of potential. I went on a very slow night, I think we were the only customers in the place and it's just one large open room, it's kind of strange, seems like there should be a stage or something for a band but no. I know this used to be the old Joe's crab shack and it's like they just gutted it and added tables covering the entire space. The bar reaches across the room so finding a seat at the bar shouldn't be a problem. We had fajitas for two, they were really good and fresh, everything was fresh. I wasn't really impressed with the salsa, it was nothing special and the chips were very hard, I like fresh crisp chips but not everyone does. The bartender was really sweet, we had talked about where she was from, she was from Columbia and I think most of the people that work there are also from Columbia. The bathrooms were clean no complaints there... The parking is a little annoying so just make sure you park in the parking lot of the actual restaurant because if you park next-door at saltgrass the security guard says he will have your car towed. Honestly I'll probably never go back but this is not really my style, so I'm not gonna say that I wouldn't recommend it I just wouldn't recommend it for myself. This place looks awesome from the inside out, it is ENORMOUS. There were maybe 5-7 other couples/family seated. But the food and service is sub par. I will note that the greeter came over to us after being seating to ask if we were served yet, we appreciated the check up. The server didn't seem to understand English. She also was very very quiet and we couldn't really hear her, this may have been because the music was too loud (the speaker was right behind us). They don't have a drink menu... like what???? Turn off, I want to see those drink specials!! And I couldn't even see the beers they had on draft from where I was seated. I did not care for this whatsoever. The food menu was also hard to follow with the fancy font. Their choices of meals were slim, I did not mind this though and is not included in my star review. My husbands carnita tacos tasted funky.. the rice was dry and seemed to come from a box and we never got the beans that were supposed to come with the meal. I ordered ceviche tostada which was just fine. I had chipped glass in my beer. Not a fan of the servers uniform. Something just seems off when you walk into a spot where they're wearing tube tops and sports bras with their stomachs out. I can understand Hooters or Twin Peaks, but this attire just doesn't seem professional. I'm giving a 2/5 for these reasons. I think this place has potential, but needs some work in the internal department. I would try this spot again if they made some changes but staying far far away for now. read more

Wow, what an absolute #hitshow. I'm very forgiving when it comes to honest mistakes, and if you completely botch our entire table's orders (like they did on our last visit), I'm more than happy to let it slide as long as you own up to your mistake. Unfortunately that's not what happened, and the obvious attempts to lie and cover up their mistakes just led to more and more mistakes until our entire dining experience became a total fiasco. My suggestion to this restaurant: If you forget to submit an entire table's order, admit what happened, apologize, and re-take everyone's orders to make sure you get it right. Don't try to just wing it and lie your way out of the situation with excuses that are unbelievable to the point of being insulting. Side note: There were no language barriers involved during our visit, since all of us who placed orders and spoke with the staff spoke fluent Spanish. read more

If there was a way to give them a zero star, I would. Tonight was the first time visiting this establishment. My husband and I wanted to try something new for our night out. Unfortunately, this place has left my husband and I feeling physically sick. We had shared the dish called mar y tierra. Which is a dish that has melted cheese on top of the fajita. Half way done with the fajita my husband tasted something minty. To our horror we found spearmint gum in the fajita. Which he did in fact eat part of. I don't think the manager understood how serious this matter is nor the employee that is responsible for this dilemma. Blood-borne pathogens can easily be transmitted in this way. We spoke to the night shift manager in which he stated he would check the cameras and that he would give us a call. We paid for our drinks, but not the food. I will say the atmosphere was great, the service was fast, and our server was attentive. However, we will not be returning to this place. We will be seeking legal council if either one of us get sick from this. read more

First let me start by saying we've been here multiple time and never had issues (even when its over the top packed we've gotten our food fast), but the way they treated us on Mother's day of all days def makes me not want to come back. We placed a large order (12 people) around 7:55pm. While waiting for our order we asked for more chips, they told us they didnt have anymore yet we saw tables around us get chips. After a while appettizer for one person came out. Others asked for their appetizers, and were told by the waitress that 3 tickets were infront of theirs which makes no sense cause we all place the food order all at once. After that my parents got their food, cold and severely overcooked. After almost 30 mins of waiting for the rest of the food, we began to ask what was the delay. The waitress at first told us the kitchen was busy. Another 10 mins go by when we inquired again and this time she said they were out of certain items and running low on inventory (idk why she would wait 40 mins to tell us that). 4 ppl at our table ordered the same menu item yet no one got their items out the same time. After 50 mins of waiting (and watching other tables who came after us eat and leave) I asked the waitress where was my food, again using the same excuse, she said there were 3 tickets infront of mines (its pretty obvious she did not placed the order all together). That's when I asked her about my husband's sushi order, and she said "oh I just found out we dont have sushi" but had I not inquired, we would have never known that ‍ After an hr of waiting we called Diego the manager over which was no help. He was argumentative and kept making excuses and didnt offered a solution. He kept saying the restaurant was packed and that the kitchen was backed up, but we had been there many times and mother's day was not nearly as packed as other days. He was really rude and when I told him other tables who came after us had gotten their orders, ate, and had already left he made a facial gesture as to say that I was lying. At the end they only discounted the plate that after an hr of waiting, the waitress took an additional 10mins to make it to go. Because we were a 12 top, they automatically included tip, but a waitress that waits 40+ minutes to tell us that items that we ordered are not available deserves no tip. This whole experince put a damp on our mother's day celebration so if you have a special event in mind I would severely reconsider reserving a table with them cause when hits the fan they'll offer no apology and till scr*w you over. read more

Probably one of the worst service we have ever gotten in a restaurant we literally live five minutes from this establishment so we enjoy it, but definitely never going there again after this night they took an hour to bring an appetizer that was cold after we all order in the same time so we can get our food together, but they couldn't even do that.
