PLEASE take a picture of your tab AFTER you fill it out and sign it, that way you have proof. I have been doing this for years now for situations like this. The food, drinks, and atmosphere were good! My ONLY complaint is that I was overcharged by $2. I know mistakes happen, and $2 is a very small amount, but it is MY money. I called on March 14 and spoke with the manager. In the first conversation, I was told he would look into it and call me back, which he did. At that time, he wanted my card info so he could refund me the money. I asked him if he could use the last 4 of my card number, he said yes. He then called me back and told me he would need my card number and expiration date. I was not willing to give him that information. He kept telling me he was trying to make it right, which I understood, but let's be honest, who gives their card information out over the phone like that?! I didn't like that he was dishonest by telling me he offered to give it to me in cash because he NEVER offered that at all. The manager also told me that the system that they have he would need my card information to refund me the money back to my card. I told him to just keep it. read more

We were a group of six having a great time together on a Thursday night, enjoying delicious food, refreshing drinks, and dancing to the DJ's music. The party was full of energy, and everyone was having a great time. People at various tables were chatting and having a great time together, soaking up the lively atmosphere. We arrived roughly an hour before the kitchen was set to close. The tasty, hot dishes arrived really quickly. We were amazed at how fast our order went from the kitchen to our table. Came by 5/19/2026, cause I was craven Mexican food. Always love the drinks here. FLIGHTS. But wanted a fish plate, but don't realky like Talipia. Seems that's all they have here FOR FISH. So got my REGULAR fajita chicken chimichanga with churro beans instead of refried. Good vibes here again. Music by DJ was hip hop mostly. The crowd was mostly Hispanics/African American. Little rachet, but anywhere with a DJ these days pass 12am is giving Club Vibes. At least no security upfront, with closing time at 2am. Sat at the bar and conversed with bar folks. Man I had such high hopes for this place after driving past it for years. My family decided to come by for a pre Mother's Day dinner and unfortunately were extremely disappointed. The drinks were ok, couple of the flavors on the margaritas flight tasted like cough medicine. The sampler was ok. Fajita nachos and chicken were the best on there in my opinion. The burger my daughter got literally tasted like butter. I mean everything, no seasoning, no flavor. Just butter. Service was ok, most of the time there were just sitting enjoying lunch as well. I enjoyed eating here. Food was fire (grilled fish and shrimp). The rice on the plate was very flavorful and the first was grilled to perfect. The tomatoes and avocados were extremely fresh and the drinks were on point. Had a margarita flight that was pretty solid. The restaurant was clean, the service was great, and the music was LOUD. Starting my calories off at El Refu's for lunch, now I went the entire last year dieting because summers are so exciting for me and the passengers I transport. As the food fatty connoisseur I am, El Refu's is the first restaurant I'm reviewing. I luvd the vibe, I could picture me and some friends watching Clarissa Shields next fight while eating fajitas and sipping on margaritas...they nailed the concept. I ordered the chimichanga mixed with beef and chicken because I couldn't decide on either or; it's a food fatty thing. The moist and tender meats was seasoned to peeerfection, I truly didn't mean to eat the entire NOT lunch portion so keep your eyes on your own plate:) I ordered an Arnold Palmer and could tell the tea was freshly made, service was great. My co worker ordered the #17 off the lunch menu, he stated he wanted to eat light. 5 star review! Here today. There tomorrow! read more

Another highly recommended place from coworkers..Upon arrival we realized parking lot is small and is shared by several other businesses. We entered the establishment and was seated promptly. Was immediately brought chips and salsa and they took our drink order. We decided on the chimiicuanga rice/neans and the chicken enchiladas they came out fairly quickly mine was good however the Mr had some spots within his chimichanga that was lukewarm..I feel like after our meal was brought the customer service went downhill (place wasn't really busy at the time however as we were finishing up the crowd started) no check back, no drink refill, we were sitting next to ladies who was upset that they automatically added gratuity (table of 2) yes the manager took it off but I would make sure to check ticket theres alot of added $$ to simple things like leaving your tab open while at the bar area..Overall this place seems like a cool vibe to come and watch the game have a few drinks and chill. read more

Our first time checking this place out. It was recommended by a couple of coworkers so we decided to give it a try. Nice little spot. Ambience is nice, we didnt order drinks but they have some good looking drinks. We were seated promptly and our waters followed soon after. Their green salsa is amazing. Once we ordered, I had the chimichonga and my wife the enchiladas Verde. Our food came quick. My wife loved hers. Mine on the other hand ‍ if you're a chimichonga lover dont order it. They normally come with rice and beans and cheese inside. This one only had the meet. So when I cut into it there's othing to hold the meet together. Chicken just fell out with every cut. So I had to mix it with my beans and rice and eat it like a salad. Had I known I would have eaten it like a burrito. It all tasted good and is the reason we would return but I won't order the chimi. Also watch your receipt. Couple of ladies next to us had an issue with them adding a 15% gratuity to their ticket for only 2 people. If you open a tab at the bar a 15% gratuity will be added also which is a little weird to me. So you have to pay for each drink as you go which causes more work for the bar tenders. wish we could rate drinks and food however we were turned away before we could. we live in the neighborhood and tried to go here an HOUR before they closed at 10:20 as you can see in my screenshots and the hostess told us they were closed and turned us away. this is the second time that we've been rushed out. the first time we were there they had security come up to inform us that they "were closed" and needed to leave AN HOUR BEFORE CLOSING TIME again. in my pictures from today you can see that they advertise being closed at 1130 and i took the screenshots at 1018 today THURSDAY 06/19/25. i work in the hospitality industry so im all about an early close, but turning ppl away an hour early is a big NO. Visiting Houston for the weekend and needless to say this restaurant was recommended and didn't fail. This was true authentic Mexican food in which tickled my tastebuds. The service was amazing and I received my food very fast and it was amazing!! The ambiance was great with a dj that came in and the preseason football game and Olympics was on the televisions. Where do I begin with this place. Shouldn't even be called "Tex-Mex". There was nothing Mex about it. Worse tasting food, from the beans to the fajitas. We had a party of 10 and every one of our hispanic family members agreed the food was horrible. So noisy we couldn't even have a conversation. Dropped in for lunch today, (Monday) and was seated by a hostess in the middle of her phone conversation, literally walked us to our table while on the phone, the multitasking was apparently in full swing. I really didn't mind, maybe she was taking a phone order and has a very good memory? The margarita was not good, I wanted it to be especially since it was dressed up so pretty with pineapple and orange. My fish tacos were pretty amazing, definitely recommend them, the quesadilla on the other hand was simply meat and cheese, no flavor. We came for my mothers birthday on a TUESDAY at 7pm and the music was so loud I had to yell for her to hear me and she was sitting RIGHT next to me. We asked several times if they can turn it down and one guy told us no they weren't going to and another lady said they would try but "it's a bar so loud music is normal" um... no. If that's the case you should definitely remove restaurant front the outside of your building. If I were to ever come back, it would have to be under brand new staffing and management. read more

I LOVE YOU REFU! Like the unconditional love a puppy has for his owner. The ambience is amazing, the service is impeccable, the drinks are chingones (great), the food is delicious to the 2nd power and the prices are even better. I ate a Torta which is a simple meal but the taste of it had me dancing a fast tempo cumbia with turns, flips & spirit fingers for some reason. The amount of meat in it was also very generous and tender and juicy like something you would probably taste in heaven because it was so perfect. I grabbed the torta so delicately like a new born baby; I was gently and careful not to drop any meat out of the mouth watering torta before I devoured it like a kid eating candy for the 1st time. First thing I noticed coming in was that there was some kind of violation, didn't have to time to read it because there was people behind me. If I wasn't invited to a birthday party I would of never gone in. Maybe they had a bad night but I ordered the strawberry Rita which I didn't taste any alcohol and the drink wasn't cold. I just want to let you all know that some of the servers will add a tip to your tab if your party is less than a party of 3 but they add 20% tip to parties of 3 or more. Be very cautious about your total. Plus an extra charge for using a debit/credit card. I had to call my waitress out for adding the tip when it was just me and my friend. That added tip was about $40 dollars my tab was right around $140 for two people. The picture was after I made her remove the tip, it was $185 the first time. I use to work in the industry so I am ver aware of the importance of tipping and I tip well, except when a server is trying to get over on me.
