She was smoking cigarettes on the bus. She blamed us for smoking on the bus when she was and told us we could. We went to the casino and left the bus and decided to gamble as well. She wanted tacos late at night (we were supposed to be back at 2 AM). She said not to tell her owner that we would be late and that she would cover for us. The tacos were 15 mins out of the way. We did not get back till 3 AM. Then she went and picked up her son - who proceeded to puck (as she told me the next morning, as she was our driver the next day). She returned the bus at 4 AM, which we were already home for - but we got charged an extra two hours. The next day we were out and about at bars. She sat on the bus, as most of the time this is how this process goes. We had been through things like this similarly. When we headed to dinner, we told her where we were going. She decided to come in, invite herself to dinner, did not ask, and ordered what we were eating (pre-picked fish broil). She did not offer to pay for it. She left and was gambling. When we wanted to leave, she was still playing on the video slot machine. She was the last one to leave our "group." We tipped her generously, despite all of this, on both days. Yet she had the audacity to text her boss and tell him we did not. And we had receipts to prove it. Just a disaster. On top of us getting charged for extra time and two cigarette burns - which none of our group smokes. Would not recommend it.

You can either take a guided tour (especially recommended if you're from out of town or short on time) or you can pick up a brochure at any of their OneStops and roam about on your own. But before you venture out, I recommend you study their website and also map your route. You can go to a pow wow Fourth of July weekend, or the Woodland Indian Arts Show (varies, but usually late June, early July); visit the museum to tour the permanent historical exhibit and special art exhibits. If you're a foodie you won't want to miss the Oneida Market at the corner of Packerland and Larson Rd. It looks like it's just part of the OneStop gas station but it's actually a separate store on the south side of the building. It's managed by a women's collective and they have a vast array of bulk coffee beans and teas, herbal supplements, foods produced by the Oneida cannery (pickles, jellies, etc) And their own locally, sustainably produced meat products, including beef and buffalo! Freshly processed meat comes in on Wednesday (hence it's known around here as "meat day") so Monday and Tuesday aren't the best days to shop...the refrigerated case is pretty empty by that time. In the fall, the tribe additionally operates and apple orchard with the best cider to be had anywhere.

I took the most amazing tour of the Oneida Nation Reservation over a span of 3 hours for a mere…read more$20. One of the best tours I have ever taken and it was given by the Oneida Special Events Coordinator Kirby Metoxen and he gave me the complete history, religious, political and social structure of the Oneida Nations. In the span of a few hours we visited a garage sale which I bought a wood crafted Turtle which is one of the three Oneida Nation tribes and also saw the school system, apple orchard, farm, bison farm, sweat lodge area used for Native American sweat ceremony, Salt Pig Avenue which is a small road with very old and historic wood homes that are still standing, Church of the Holy Apostles which was also very old as we went inside and Kirby played an old tape of Native American church hymns on the speakers, the Oneida Market which would remind you of a Starbucks and had local food and coffee and the Oneida Nation Museum where Kirby had the Director tell me about the history and mission of the museum. This was so fascinating to hear about the history and plight of the Oneida's and how they are building their community today. I could not have asked for a better tour of this beautiful reservation.
