Three very disappointing courses for 25 euro. I would advise anyone thinking the all day dinner menu looks like a good value deal to think again. You will get served food that isn't fresh and feels like it has been taken from a nearby tesco and re heated. I went to this place with not the greatest of expectations as I had heard that you get what you pay for. I disagree completely and think the food is overpriced and actually made me feel sick afterwards. I went with a friend and got the chicken nachos which had two lumps of chicken over cheap tesco value Doritos which were crushed on the bottom and slathered in even cheaper salsa. Followed by a sloppy and weirdly shaped tex mex burger and lastly profiteroles from a packet with chocolate sauce and cream. My friend got the bruschetta followed by the salmon which he said tasted old and dry along with potatoe gratin which looked more like Mac and cheese and a store bought apple pie to follow. Honestly I will never ever return here and I would advise all you yelpers to even go to the nearest tesco and get the same 3 courses for a fraction of the price. After roaming the streets we stumbled upon a place that seemed appealing to our appetite for the night. We strolled into here and I ordered some guac and salsa which sounded very appealing because I am used to eating it all the time back home. The service was good and they were very attentive to our needs. After ordering we didn't have to wait to long to receive our food and my friends dish came out hot hot! Having a nice hot and fresh meal goes to show things are freshly made to order and delivered promptly. My friend did not like her dish so I took a bite of it, it was some rice, mixed veges, and shrimp. It was on the super sweet side. My meal on the other hand, the salsa did not taste home made but it was good. The guac was difficult to eat because I am used to green guac while this guac came in more of a brown shade. I didn't want to complain so I ate it up. If I was in Dublin again this would not be a place I would stop by, it just was not as good as a handful of other Mexican places I've eaten at but the service was very good. read more

We had the carbonara, and it was without doubt top 5 worst pastas I've ever had. It practically didn't taste anything accept a strange hint of gas. Blender was broken so we couldn't have a daiquiri and the fact that it was Good Friday and we had water to drink didn't really boost the experience in a good way.. The White chocolate raspberry cheesecake was good, but not close to how good it should have been to raise the grade to a 3/5. Service was barely ok, after we finished the food it took about 20 minutes before anyone came to our table, same thing after deserts. Would not recommend anyone to go to this place really. read more

We we're seated immediately with the staff being very attentive, perhaps too attentive. Our starters were brought out almost instantly, the salsa was very water like, dipping the tortillas merely gave them a liquid coating so became quite pointless. While finishing off our starters the empty plates were being cleared as we were still eating, quite off putting. As quick as the plates were cleared away our main arrived. The chicken burrito had an extremely tough bottom making it almost impossible to cut, it almost felt like it had been prepared earlier an re-heated to order, possibly evidenced by the speed of its preparation. The covering sauce and green garnishing's gave an element of freshness an took away some of struggle to break through the tough burrito bottom. Throughout the meal we were made to feel slightly uncomfortable by staff watching your every move. My partner paused momentarily mid-meal to remove a piece of food caught in her tooth (very subtly) as quick as a flash the waiter had provided tooth picks on the table. Mediocrity - Mexican and Italian style! This is not a place I'd go back to. It wasn't that it was so terrible, but it definitely was not great. Pre-packaged meals at Dunnes taste better and is far cheaper. Price: It's in temple bar, so naturally it's overpriced. Food: Bland. When I dine out, I expect something of better quality than Supermax. Atmosphere: It is a nice, cafe-style atmosphere. Service: The waiter was efficient. Offered to take my coat and hang it up. My lunch experience: I had a 2-course special. The first course was nachos, which consisted of some spice mince and a load of tortilla chips. There were a few peppers and a tiny (and I do mean tiny) sprinkling of cheese. I was pretty disappointed with this, as the mince was of poor quality and was quite runny. It tasted, though I'd hope it wasn't, like it came out of a chili can from Lidl. When the main course arrived, which was a burrito, it was cold. I'm not sure why this was the case, as there was only one other couple there. The only way I can figure this, is that they made the main and starter at the same time and then let the main sit. Not good. The burrito was filled with the same miserable mince and topped with a few dollops of sour cream and the tiniest sprinkle of cheese. My sugar and I ended up in Mexico to Rome on a Saturday night after finding out that where we wanted to eat was closed. (Cue sad face) We figured, like Aoife said, that we could each find something appetising on a menu of Italian and Mexican dishes. I feel compelled to mention here that 1. I was born in LA and raised in Texas, so i know my Mexican food, and 2. I am equal parts Irish and Italian, so I know my Italian too :) That said, Mexico to Rome was adequate. We were seated in the back, overlooking the quays, so the view made for a nice atmosphere. The kitchen is in the centre, between the Temple Bar side dining room at the entrance, and the river side room in back. Walking through the kitchen to be seated was a bit odd. We ordered Mexican, I had the guacamole appetiser and chicken burrito, and my BF had nachos and a beef burrito. Both were served with rice and beans, which were anything but authentic and led to a lengthy lecture of the "these are not right, wait until I cook Mexican, you'll see..." variety. As one would expect in Temple Bar, the food was overpriced, service was minimal, and the food was edible. Perhaps the Roman section of the menu is better. Or the tapas mentioned by Aoife? read more

I ended up in Mexico to Rome early one evening after wandering the cobbles of Temple Bar for a while with an undecided group, diverse in taste and nationality. Nobody was really prepared to make a decision one way or another and when we found ourselves outside Mexico to Rome, we just wandered on in. It was a good choice at the time because most people, the world over, will find either a Mexican or Italian dish to suit their tastes (or perhaps that's an outrageous generalisation by me!) We sat at the window and enjoyed Temple Bar strolling by at sunset. The service was good but it was lacking a bit in atmosphere. The food wasn't memorable but everybody found something to suit and it certainly wasn't terrible. I hear that they've introduced tapas too so it should be Mexico to Madrid to Rome now! read more

Went there for Valentines. Hadn't booked anywhere and they warm and welcoming to all. Explaining to those who hadn't booked that tables needed to be vacated for 6.30 for the people who had booked. I ate here for lunch on a Saturday, where they do a two course lunch plus a glass of wine for 9.99. Extra glasses of wine are 3 euro. My food was nice, corn nachos and a nice average salsa dip. My goats cheese burger was homemade, moist & topped with a very generous slice of goats cheese. Fries were decent too. Wine was very moreish. Service friendly and attentive. For main I had chilli con carne, which was the nicest i have had. Ther service was very fast, I think they are eager to get people in and out but it is in Templebar afterall. I am always on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant, especially since I have been living here in Europe, so when the guy I was with at the time, asked, "How about this?" I liked the idea of having Mexican for dinner, but I was a little skeptical of the fact that they did both Mexican and Italian food. It was miserable outside, so he was ready to eat anywhere, and I figured that it looked fairly busy, so it had to be decent. I did not realize that while we entered through a door in the square from Temple Bar, the restaurant also overlooks the river if you walk all the way through. The staff led us through the first dining area, through the kitchen (yes... a bit strange), and to the second dining area. The décor was just as confused as the menu. There was a set menu, but if I was going to have Mexican food, I wanted the Mixed Dips (guacamole, sour cream, and refried beans), I also figured that if we didn't eat all of the dips, I could use them for my beef burrito. My date had the Mexican Gambas and the chicken burrito. The guacamole and sour cream were nice, but the refried beans were served cold, which was not what I was expecting. The chips were very salty and I seemed to be drinking my water faster than the waiter could fill it up. The Mexican Gambas certainly looked nice when it came out and according to my date they were good (remember that he is the kind to eat anything and everything). It was a little cramped in the restaurant, we were at a table in the middle of the dining room where most of the wait staff were walking back and forth and I was just a little worried every time they walked by that something was going to get knocked off of the table. However, there was a group of about 6 or 8 on the other side, so they at least had room for groups. That being said, it really is not a setting for a romantic date... as we and other couples (which made up most of the tables) in the restaurant found out. It was really loud and difficult to hear each other if you are trying to have a conversation, in fact I probably heard more of the conversations around me. Our food came out and looked good... however, the meat inside of the burrito (both the beef and chicken) could've used more seasoning. The rice and the beans did not have much flavor either. The food was edible and while it satisfied my hunger, I wouldn't say that I enjoyed it. And I know that we were in Temple Bar, but I still found it really expensive (yes, I picked up the bill...) for the quality of food that was served. I don't know how their Italian food is, but maybe the Italian food on the menu is what they do better and maybe why the Mexican food wasn't as good? I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but maybe they just need to focus on one type of food over another. read more

As I still hunt for a good Mexican place to eat, we gave this one a try. Still not close to what we had in San Diego, but a decent place to grab a casual meal while near Template Bar. We had 7of us and the food for the group was okay and the service was fine. I had the prawn fajitas, not bad. The refried beans were a bit bland, but the Mexican rice was quite good actually. You are in temple bar so expect it to be noisy with some good people watching. read more

Well what can I say, my worst mexican food in decades. The tacos are in fact done with a bolognaise sauce and red berns instrad of beef and refrito like indicate in the menu. The tortillas are old and completely "secas"! Cuates pasen de largo! read more

Good - I was looking for a non expensive meal. I was with a friend and were just trying to find a nice place to eat and that we could chat. It was a Tuesday - so it was not busy at all. Unfortunately, the way the tables are displayed doesn't give you much chance to talk to your friend without being heard by the person sit next to you. So definitely not a good place to tell secrets! lol The menu is simple but it has options for everybody ( including vegetarians!) I ordered the garlic bread for starters but was not really thrilled about it. For main course I had chicken pasta with mushroom. It was a good size portion and it tasted really nice. My friend order the baked salmon with gratin potatoes and was also happy with the choice. As I said, it was an informal meeting so we just had beers paired with our meal. They had about 4 options of different beers and we picked Peroni (Italian beer). The service charge is included in the bill (10%) - I was not overwhelmed by the service by agreed in paying for it. If you are looking for a place for a quick meal .. it's a good option. I just did not like that they tried to fit as many tables/seat as they could so you don't feel comfort. Also, they don't have a place to hang your coats, so on top of the lack of space I had to try to accomodate my heavy winter jacket over my feet ( I know most of you will ask why she did not put on the chair? people kept squeezing through to pass to the other tables... ) read more

I hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants as I know how hard it is to run one. Although the manager was very nice, do NOT go to this place. We were lured in by the early bird special & instant seating. Our food was mediocre at best. We left the place, wishing we had gone elsewhere as we are only in Dublin for a few days. Around 11pm my son started violently throwing up. He has a severe case of food poisoning. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,fever, chills etc. We are almost certain it was from the chicken. We could also smell the bathroom from our table in the front room. I don't know who permitted this place to pass the health inspection. We had to cancel our tour today. We went to this restaurant on Saturday night with our dealrush voucher. I presented the voucher when we arrived to the waiter who appeared confused and said that he didnt know it was a voucher booking. What difference that makes anyway im not quite sure. He returned again a few minutes later to say that in future if i have a voucher i should mention it when making the booking which i had but it did not appear to have been written in the book. Again what difference that made anyway i dont know, there were no restrictions on the use of the voucher but i suspect we would not have gotten a table if they had realised. The stuffed mushrooms and chili were nice. Desert of apple pie was mush and the pastry was not baked through. The drinks were definitely watered down which i was shocked at. The toilets smelled really bad aswell. The whole attitude about the voucher surprised me as it was the restaurant who ran the deal to encourage new business, i wouldnt now return as a result. read more

Use to go quite often before enjoy their interesting meal for €9.99 which I was always choosed bruschetta, lambo di monzo (a steak with mushroom sauce). Last week I went there, dreaming with the taste of this steak when for my surprise they changed the menu. Disappointed, but because I liked the restaurant, I decided stay there. Tried a very spiced chilli con carne (that made me cry inside) and a very poor fish and chips that has more oil than anything else. Could not even eat half of my plate. Was not a bit impressed when i was paying the bill by credit card that the waitress came over to talk to the waiter taking the payment. She stood with this waiter all the time the payment was being processed and when the time came for me to put in my pin I was asked by him if I would like to leave the waitress a tip onto my credit card. It was so blatantly trying to embarrass the customer into leaving a tip whether they want to or not . Food was just ok - will never be making a return trip. read more

Charming little restaurant right in the heart of Temple Bar, that serves both Mexican and Italian food. An odd combination, but they seem to do it well. Service was friendly and laid back, the restuarant itself surprisingly peaceful given the location in one of the busiest party/tourist areas of the city. Reasonably priced for central Dublin (which is to say, not cheap, but not outrageous either). Well worth a try. read more

I liked the Carbonara but thought the shrimp apetizer was overpriced with 6 small shrimps in an oily concoction for € 9.95 Their ideas of a king prawn is a small shrimp, stay away from that. Absolutely the worst experience! We came from Germany where decent Mexican food is unheard of so our expectations were pretty low to begin with. We were led from the seating area through a busy and narrow kitchen/server station to another section. First the server told us we couldn't order an appetizer prior to the meal, we had to order all the food at once, so we ordered drinks which were mediocre at best. Then another server came by pushing us to order and we told them we were still looking. The first guy came back 2 minutes later and when we told him we weren't ready yet he huffed, rolled his eyes and walked away. At this point, we definitely knew we weren't going to eat here so we got on Yelp to find somewhere else to eat. Another different server (the 3rd one!) came by to take our order. When we told them we weren't eating, he said "we don't just serve drinks unless you order food". I said "well we aren't eating here." Then he said he'd bring the bill. It was shocking! I should have had a red flag raised anyways when I saw on the menu the Mexican place also serve Italian! Don't waste your time with this place! read more

I'm not even giving this a star it was that bad, when me and my partner went in we were greeted with disappointment because we had a pram. We were escorted upstairs and was told to make room when they get busy. I ordered the olives and bread for starters, bread was fine a bit bland, It came with a bowl of Don Carlos Olives shop brought, they were the small crap ones soaked in a horrible brine with pickled onions and pickled garlic and it was obviously stuck in the fridge for a couple of days.!! My partner ordered from the lunch special and got the soup for starters there was five tablespoons in it. I ordered veggie burger and chips for the main and my partner ordered the chicken burger and chips . The veggie burger I received looked like poo in between two buns and the taste was as bad as it looked.
