I rarely leave bad reviews, but this place earned it. The food was bland, poorly presented, and completely forgettable. But worse still was the service--slow, inattentive, and bordering on rude. It felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by being there. For the price we paid, we expected at least a basic level of hospitality and flavor, and got neither. We just had dinner again in Jamie Oliver's in Dundrum, it was fabulous. The staff are so helpful, friendly and polite. My husband had the special of the day and I had my usual fish and chips, a glass of wine each and the most delicious lemon meringue cheese cake to follow. Compliments to all. Hard to get a burger wrong isn't it? A bun, some filling, the meat etc.... When mine arrived it looked amazing, really, top marks for presentation and served with (my choice) the corn fries. Sadly it all went a bit downhill from there. The burger was tasteless, the combination of ingredients did not come together to make a party in my mouth - it's not that they clashed, they were just boring! The fries (POLENTA CHIPS) were likewise a massive disappointment, but that was my own fault, I should have gone for the Posh or funky chips which were a lot nicer. Junior had the chicken lollies which he very much enjoyed, Wifey had a pasta dish which had masses of flavour. So, I'm probably being a bit harsh with 3 stars, but I honestly didn't enjoy my meal. We'll probably be back, I'll choose better next time. read more

To be honest it wasn't my first choice when we arrived in the Pembroke District looking for sustenance. I was out-voted and I am glad I was. I tend to shy away from bandwagons and Jamies Italian was a big bandwagon in my book. We were told there was a 30 minute wait, but we were seated in under 20 minutes. Our server Kim was very friendly and had a vast knowledge of the menu. I mean seriously knowledgeable. The management here clearly is focussed on ensuring the customer is fully informed. We started with a meat plank and some bread. While there was three of us, we order a plank for two and two bread bucket thingies. The plank for two was enough for the three of us, but there was too much bread, so one bread bucket would have been enough. The plank was delicious, as was the bread. Lovely antipasti. For mains I went for the tagliatelle bolognese and it was delicious. My sister went for the spaghetti al norma and my partner the wild rabbit taglioni. Both liked as far as I am aware. Re the pasta portion size, they have two here, small and regular. This is genius. I am a huge fan of this. Both myself and my sister went for the small portion, while my partner went for the regular portion. He regretted this and ended up leaving half of the dish. Long may the small portion live, it's a great option to have on a menu. All the while I washed my food down with a couple of Llewellyn ciders, a traditional and locally produced cider. A little bit more tart than what I am used to, but it's a simply brewed beverage with nothing added, which can't be bad. The only drawback is its expensive, 7.95 a bottle? I've seen this cider in other restaurant with a similar price, so I wasn't surprised. I don't think I will be ordering it much in the future if I am honest. It's nice, but not that nice. Finally as we had wisely opted for the small pasta portions, my sister and I shared the Tiramisu. Orange favoured, it was extremely tasty indeed. I also had a single espresso, which was divine. One the best I've had in a long long time. Smooth. For three people, the total was over 110 EUR. My partner though this was a bit expensive. Maybe it is, but the food and service was quality. I've been to Jamie's Italien in Nottingham and liked it so I finally got round to visiting the one in Dundrum recently. After a few attempts previously to get a seat to no avail, I picked a weekday this time at 12pm for lunch. Success! There were plenty of seats. The staff are clearly well trained as the service is very different to the usual restaurant - They're actually good :P So I went for the Italian burger and it was delicious and filling. First time at Jamie's Italian and was very impressed by the quality of food and service. Thomas was our waiter and he did a wonderful job, he was very attentive and knowledgeable! David the manager was great and made sure we had a nice table, he too was very attentive to everyone's needs. Our food was very tasty and was thoroughly enjoyed by my guests. We had garlic & chilli prawns and crab & avocado bruschetta for starter and both was delicious. For mains we had truffle tagliatelle small portion ( it comes in 2 sizes- small or regular) and that was probably the best truffle pasta in my life. :) For dessert we choose tiramisu pavlova and panna cotta with fruit compote and both tastes very good. With all that we drank gin&earl grey martini cocktail and aperol spritz. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and we really enjoyed our visit. We didn't need reservation for Friday lunch time which is good. We will definitely come again. read more

First time @Jamies and not at all surprised, it was delicious! Food, drinks and coffee amazing :) The place is easy going, bright and very casual, great for a midweek after work with friends. The menu is very diverse, different and not like every other Italian place, no pizza also. I like that - still enough choices for the pickiest eaters but also a lot of veggie options. Great is also, that you can pasta dishes in small size - kinda tapas style and great for sharing and trying different things. People I have spoken too said, the service is bad - well, our waitress was very nice and the other waiters seemed to have everything under control also. It can take a bit longer, but I am not a "in the rush eater" anyways. So bring your time when you go here, make it the Italian style! read more

Went here again more recently on my own for a quiet supper and I had much more of the experience I had expected. Though the staff seemed annoyingly confused by my being alone and even more so when I asked if they could take my phone to charge (how on earth would I survive dinner if I couldn't converse with someone even on my phone), the waiter that served me was really great and accommodating (maybe he felt sorry for me who knows?!). I had the crab linguini and a huge portion of tiramisu both which were beyond delicious. Ambiance was nice, darkly lit with a great buzz from the almost packed tables around me and better choice of music than last time. Really enjoyed my lone supper. read more

Well given the fact that zero forethought was given to choosing this restaurant, we were thrilled to find refuge there after a long Sunday afternoon in Dundrum. Liked the fact that they gave us cushions and blankets so we could sit outside to wait. Loved the fact that they sat us in Siberia because the adults in our party were outnumbered by children 2:3. Loved our cocktails, loved the fried squid and deep fried ravioli appetizers. Loved the kids menu (grilled chicken lollipops - thank you! Loved my aged Irish beef, loved the honeycomb ice cream and butterscotch sauce. Loved the friendly service...highly disliked the pacing - appetizers before cocktails, long wait for meals (despite not being super crowded) long wait to order dessert and coffee - dessert finished long before coffees arrived - and the wait for the check - don't even get me started on that one - our server literally disappeared - we eventually waved down a busser to help us pay so we could leave. It's ironic that a restaurant bearing the name of a chef who likes his burgers rare will refuse to serve anything less than "well done" to a customer.  Citing "the law" as the reason is untruthful and misleading. There is nothing in the law that prevents a restaurant from serving a rare burger. The law just requires that "[restaurants] serving undercooked burgers or mince (medium or rare) must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and the Environmental Health Service that they have scientifically validated control procedures in place to eliminate the risks [associated]." So perhaps Jamie's Italian does not have confidence in the safety of its own food handling processes to ensure that they would not put a customer's health at risk. Which... Considering that I had to point out a plate of forgotten, half eaten food behind the cashier desk, would not surprise me.  Avoid. read more

Love Jamie, love Jamie's Italian! With the abundance of Italian restaurants in Dublin, it takes a lot to get me back but I've been back to Jamie's several times since my first visit. You are greeted not only with very efficient staff but the wonderful smell of really good Italian food being cooked, an experience enhanced by the kitchen which is on full display. In terms of starters, the arancini are beautiful. I also liked the fact that you could get small or larger portions of the main course pasta dishes(several of which I have sampled and all have been delicious), which left room for some of the amazing desserts on offer (the brownie, pavlova and tiramisu are all to die for). The only downside is that the chairs can be a little uncomfortable depending on where you are seated and it is a little pricey for Italian, especially if you want to sample some of the yummy cocktails on offer! There is a really good lunch offer however, if you fancy sampling some of the goods without paying full whack! Bottom line... if you fancy treating yo'self dooooo it, you won't be disappointed! read more

When I went to Jamie's Italian I had the punchy prawn linguine. Packed with chilli, capers and garlic, this simple recipe doesn't scrimp on bold flavours. The combination of tomatoes, prawns and spaghetti that just works. Whats great about this dish is that it's simple but packed with flavour. For my side I had Jamie's famous polenta chips; crispy fried pieces of polenta sprinkled with parmesan and rosemary. Wickedly Moorish, I could imagine going back and asking for a stew beers and a large bowl of these just on their own on a Friday night. To me it just seems like an overpriced Italian. There are other places that are better value and the food itself is much better. The reviewer before me is correct to some degree. The food is not typically Italian. Far from it. But is the food good? Yes! Are the portions big? Yes! Is the pricing reasonable? Yes! So, does it deserve more than 1 star? Definitely. Jamie's is a huge, bustling restaurant, packed with punters and staff. If you don't have a booking, you may manage to squeeze in for lunch if it's just 2 of you. Failing that, the desk will page you when they have a table free if you don't mind waiting a while. There are two floors, a large sprawling bar and bread counter. With the visible pipes and hanging lamps, the whole place has a very constructed haphazardness, if that makes sense, a bit like Jamie's cooking. Service is attentive, friendly and quick. The waiters are very knowledgeable about the dishes and they like to prove this by launching into an essay about the day's specials once you've sat down, which I find unnecessary, since they can just be read off a chalkboard. Nevertheless, I prefer this gregarious approach to the sullen, lackadaisical attitude some staff display in other popular Dublin restaurants. I had the free range chicken with rosemary, along with polenta chips. My friend had some pasta dish with truffles and we shared a bread basket. It may not be authentic Italian food, but I can't fault the taste, it was all cooked and seasoned beautifully. The chocolate brownie I ordered afterwards was a bit too floury, as opposed to the gooey consistency I prefer, but it was alright. Coffees were decent. Our bill came to €45 after VAT and I left a tip, a courtesy I seldom feel I should indulge. So a good experience all around. My main complaint was the loud commercial pop music. Jazz or something lighter would be more appropriate. read more

I have to say I was really disappointed in this place, being a fan of Mr. Oliver's Italian travels I was SO excited when I heard we were going here for a family gathering, I shouldn't of been. The atmosphere & place is nice/well decorated but the booth tables, well lets just say you don't want to have very long legs or weigh very much if you expect 6 people to sit in them! I have to say the staff were excellent, very well trained etc. Our waiter had me in stitches, even he kept rolling his eyes at the prices for some of the stuff, or the description he was obviously made to learn off. The wait for the food was a little bit on the long side, plus we had all eaten our starters & my partner was still waiting for his...guess what his was, the bread bucket....like really?! Its bread! I was disappointed, I expected amazing things in regards to true Italian flavor & I just didn't get it here. As a lover of Italian cuisine I wouldn't go back, not a chance. I thought it was ridiculously over-priced for what all the high-fluteing words on the menu actually meant...one of our group ordered what was basically pasta in a tomato sauce with vegetables & it was I believe about 16 euros. To say that carbonara would be my last meal on earth is no joke and I had it here as it was the special - well, it will definitely be my last meal at this place. Go, make up your own mind - but if you want REAL Italian flavor, take a trip into the Italian Quarter in Dublin, half the price but twice as nice. read more

Quite liked Jamies Italian, the food was pretty nice. Very good staff and a nice restaurant. I am going to give it 4 stars rather than 5 however. The prices are just a little bit to expensive. The starters to share of meat / cheese platters are very nice. We found the small pasta dishes were plenty. My favorite item on the menu was actually a drink, the Lemonade. It is so refreshing and tasty well worth the 7 euros I thought. Dun Drum is a great place for food really and Jamies is a great addition. read more

We went here with a group of co-worker (12 of us) for an early Christmas Lunch. it was a warm welcome and the waiter seemingly loved his job. Especially explaining todays specials to us you felt he would love to have it himself. It wasn't just a list of dishes it came with explanation how it was prepared and how it tastes. Watching other waiters it seems their love for food is an essential interview criteria. Our waiter also came back several times to check everything was ok, fill up the water bottles. The food was simply delicious. I haven't had such an amazing taste explosion in a long time. For a starter I had their special. Buscetta with macarel and ricotta pate with roasted tomatoes on the vine. Especially those tomatoes had a taste I havent' experienced in ages - just like tomatoes should taste like. For a main i went for the small portion of Truffle Taglitelle. The pasta was absolutely al dente - with a bit of bite in them. and the truffle sauce was just amazing. My bill came with €18 inclusive tip. It said on the menu they charge 10% service charge for groups over 6 but it didn't look like they really did. I absolutely loved that lunch and definitely will be back. Only 4 stars just due to plates being cleard while people at the table were still eating - a pet hate of mine. read more

I've eaten here on two occasions this year - food is an interesting and tasty twist on Italian, with some really good options, one the first visit we had a Bruschetta plank which was very very good, the Veal and the Burger with polenta chips and a salad. It was all very very tasty. On the last trip we had carbonara and a game ragu. Again both where excellent as where the cocktails and desserts. One both occasions staff where warm and efficient, even on the second visit where the waiter was on his first day. They seem to run a very slick service and that's a welcome change for Dublin. Value is fair, and I'd be happy to keep returning if they are as consistent as they have been. read more

Well, pretty disappointed by an over priced restaurant offering average food. I ordered 4 "starters" courses as suggested, but portions were so small that I ended up the dinner hungrier than before! Pasta was fresh but unsalted, literally plunged in a butter and truffle sauce. The starter plank got 3 slices of mixed cured meat (prosciutto and salame), one tiny buffalo mozzarella and one slice of pecorino (insanely tiny). Truffle chips got no truffle, while the fried ravioli were good. Considered that we did not ordered wine, the bill was ridiculously high. read more

Been here twice last year and I cant wait to go back again. Its fantastic, from the decor, to the menu, to the price. It really is a fantastic place to eat. However timing is crucial if you want a table, the best time to arrive is either around 12.30 (before the lunch rush) or at aroun 15.00 (before the evening rush) when it is not as packed. Even if they are busy though they give you a beeper and you can walk around the shops and they beep you when your table is ready, great service and most certainly one of my favourite places to eat in Dublin. read more

Having been less than overwhelmed visiting one of Jamie's Italian other restaurants years ago in the UK, I never felt like rushing to the Dublin establishment. Today me and my friend went for a half day spa visit, and when we were finished, we were both absolutely ravenous, so walked into the closest restaurant, which happened to be Jamie's. The restaurant itself is spacious, yet cosy (they have very comfortable booths to sit in ) and service was extremely friendly and welcoming. This is not a cheap place, and it seems that the lunch + dinner menu are exactly the same, so lunch won't come cheap. They had a small special deal menu (15 euro for two courses), but nothing on it really did it for us, so we decided to go all out. It was my friend's birthday after all, so we deserved a treat. For starters I had the squid, very tasty and quite spicy (I think there was a whole red chilli chopped and mixed through it), and my friend had the risotto balls. Four of them. So starter size was quite generous. For main I opted for the small portion of truffle oil/ black pepper risotto. When it came out, at first I thought: wow, small!!! But it was extremely filling, and ever so delicious. We shared some seasonal green veg as well on the side, asparagus, broccoli and sugar snaps. Since it was a special occasion, we decided to order dessert as well. Tiramisu with orange mascarpone for me, and baked lemon cheesecake for her. It was lush. Bill came to 65 euro, for three courses each, one side, one bellini and one tea (plus they charge 2 euro for a large bottle of water). And it was well worth it! I would not say this is typical italian fare, but we both definitely enjoyed it. read more

I went here for a lunch recently and was blown away. The food was just delicious, really unique take on dishes like nachos. The decor is really cool and well kept. I usually judge a restaurant by its toilets and these guys get 5 stars for clean and great decoration. However I do have to drop a star overall for the lack of choice on there dessert menu. They only seemed to offer a chocolate brownie, which isn't always my cuppa tea and there drinks are pricey. read more

I'd read negative reviews from other sites before eating at Jamie's Italian but was desparate to give it a try anyhow. My luck was in when Mrs. B got a gift voucher for Jamie's for her birthday. I'll review from the start - the restaurant itself . I think it must be hard to make somewhere like a unit in a shopping centre aesthetically pleasing to the eye and in the case of Jamie's in Dundrum try to replicate the look and feel to some small degree of it's sister restaurant in Manchester which is just an amazing building - for those of you who don't know: it's located in an old bank on King Street with the vaults transformed into an amazing private dining room. While Dundrum cannot compete with this, it does make the best of the space it has. We were shown to our table and were not waiting too long for our waiter to come over. Our party consisted of three adults and one toddler. The waiter was extremely helpful and very friendly and made a real effort with the young one! He took time to explain all the specials in depth (as I am sure all the waiting staff are trained to do) but also when asked gave information on dishes on the regualr menu. For starter, we shared the Italian Breads and Pea Bruschetta. Both starters were very tasty. Two of us had the special of the day linguini which had white crab meat, cherry tomatoes and white fish sauce. It was amazing. The third person had tagliatelle bolognese which she really enjoyed and the little man had spaghetti bolognese. His portion would have been big enough for a 10 year old but by clearing the plate I reckon he was giving it his seal of approval. For the table we had a bottle of the house cabernet sauvignon and I had two pints of the Birra Moretti which is on tap. I don't drink white wine but was assured that it hit the mark...the Birra Moretti certainly did. For dessert the boy had a couple of scoops of ice-cream. A scoop of chocolate and a scoop of strawberry. I nicked a little taste of both and I must admit I was jealous that I didn't order the same. That jealousy was short lived though when my soft chocolate brownie with amaretto ice cream arrived. Good jaysus...it was the stuff of dreams. I could have had two or three of them. My overall experience was very good in Jamie's Italian in Dundrum. We felt welcome with the little fella and we will be back soon. read more

Unusual to give a place a 4 star review after having a crap main course! Well I did, the rest of family literally licked their plates! I had the mushroom risotto, which as a dish I love. Here it's basically a large portion of very bland & creamy mushroom flavoured risotto. No texture or nice flavour. I think risotto should have veg or something through it. On its own with creamy sauce it might as well be mushroom flavoured ambrosia. Had few spoons and gave back to waiter. The waiter & two managers came to my table apologise and I wasn't charged. Was offered anything else FOC, but at that stage my eye was on desert. Eat here loads. Service & food generally very tasty & good value. Service got them over the line this time!! read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place out but I have to say that afterwards I was pretty disappointed. I went here on two seperate occasions, the first time I had the ricotto which I found pretty bland and underwhelming. The second time I had the Italian Sausage which for €15 without a side was basic and lacked the so called rustic Italian taste I was promised. On a plus point the staff were friendly and the service/atmosphere was extremely good. The problem with this place is that it serves the yummy mummy Dundrum shoppers who have no problem in shelling out serious cash for underwhelming food. read more

This place was good, authentic tasting Italian food that was obviously fresh. It's in a good area, and we loved the ambience inside. The server was very nice and helpful. I recommend ordering the garlic bread appetizer. If you really like olives, the olives on ice were good too, but the garlic bread is better. Both my mom and myself ordered pastas and were pleased with the quality of the food, but the taste was different than we are used to (being from the United States). I recommend visiting, but be prepared for a different type of Italian than you will find in most places. read more

I went to visit Jamie's Italian on a Thursday evening after work. When we arrived there were plenty of seats available but by the time we were leaving people were waiting to get a table. The restaurant is obviously doing very well because it is a big restaurant to fill. The restaurant is split over two levels and is bright and welcoming. They have various vegetables and pastas stacked around the restaurant which gives it a nice feel. The wine list was very tempting but because i was driving home afterwards we didn't have any. Most tables had wine or beers and i would love to try some on our next visit. To start we shared the pasta dish of prawn linguine and we almost licked the plate clean it was so good! The prawns were quite small but the pasta and the tomato sauce were delicious. We were off to a great start. For mains I wanted something somewhat light so I had the proscuitto and pear salad. It was served with rocket and pecorino and a honey dressing. I enjoyed it and I would get it again. I tried some of the special of the day-pork chop with roast potatoes and it was very tasty. The toilets were clean and the staff friendly so I want to go back again to try more dishes! Especially the desserts-they look yum! read more

This is a really nice spot. I met a friend here for lunch recently. There was plenty on the menu but surprising that there was no pizza! I liked that you can order the pasta dishes in a smaller size. Perfect for lunch. I got the carbonara and it was very very good! My friend got another pasta dish and also gave it the thumbs up! The waiter was very attentive...almost a little too much but then suddenly disappeared when we were trying to get the bill. We were treated very well and the waiting staff were nothing but friendly and helpful with a good knowledge of the food on the menu. The place is comfortable and has a cosy feeling in it. My only fault is the price. It's not the place to go for a cheap bite to eat or drink..... You do however get what you pay for. I found some of the portions small but everything was delicious.
