Unfortunately, you can't check in early, but I'm glad our condo had a access code instead of using a key because we didn't have to make a trip back to dropped off there keys. Look at the reviews on the Meyer Real Estate website. It appears they have doctored the reviews in order to give them a near five star rating on all of their condos. If you look closely you will find that you cannot click on any of the reviews to read them and you also cannot leave a review. Interesting, huh? This speaks volumes and I am sad I learned this information too late. I will never rent from Meyer Real Estate again! On to my review of Romar Tower 5C, which would definitely NOT have a good rating if the ratings were legit on their website. I rented the condo March 11-15, 2021. Housekeeping did their job, but it is filthy and run down in ways that were outside of general housekeeping. There is a lot of maintenance that needs to occur and furniture that needs to be replaced. The barstools, the kitchen chairs, the placemats, the couches - all filthy and stained. We hated to even sit without covering things first. The placements need to be trashed filthy, stained, and just disgusting! There is mold in the washing machine. There is mold in the smaller bathroom. The small bathroom is dark - specifically shower. There is no exhaust fan/vent in bathrooms. Everything needs a good scrubbing with a fresh coat of paint and caulk. Even the fake plants are in bad shape and one is duct taped together. The freezer leaks into the fridge and leaves water in it which gets your refrigerated items wet. The pans in the kitchen look rough in a worn out sort of way. The patio furniture is old and there are no lounge chairs at all. The pillows on the bed are all stained up and totally gross. (Be sure to see the photo of that!) The only positives are the master bed slept great and the carpet looked clean, but even then the carpet in the closets were not replaced. There is also a new recliner that is leather. It's the only thing you will be able to sit on without covering it first. Honestly, someone should be ashamed renting something in this condition. I thought Meyer was a reputable company that managed nice condos, but I was clearly mistaken. I am really troubled by my new knowledge of what I believe to be doctored reviews on their website. They will never get another penny of my money. (And no, we did not file a ticket for this dilapidated place while we were there - we were forced to make the best of it. Stayed out of the condo as much as possible and did not use the kitchen. Had we filed a ticket there was nothing they could do as there was no way they could have replaced furniture and remodeled during our four night stay.) The resort is nice but overpriced. It is quiet which is good for having kids around but the much requested basketball courts don't have one light over them so you have to run your car with the headlights on just so the kids can play when it is finally a comfortable temperature. All the empty tennis courts were very well lit though. Twice now we are sent to the condo told it is ready and clean and twice it is not and we have to eat out that first night just so that the cleaning crew can take a stab at it. We usually have to follow up and actually clean the floors, put tape on stuff that is broken, clean the balcony etc. Awful. Too bad the place has good potential. Atleast the AC worked. read more

Spent $4400 for 201 Mariner point in Orange Beach. Walked in to the non smoking condo and it reeked of smoke, carpet was nasty, furniture broken, TV not working, toaster almost catching on fire. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Paid a small fortune to stay at a fairly nice condo at Bel Sole for a week and had nothing but issues from day 1. Condo was dirty - sand all over the floors, sheets on the beds were intolerably filthy. Thats a red sheet in the washing machine and that water is black. Toilet overflowed the first night, A/C never worked and Meyers answer was to give us two fans for a 2250 sq ft condo. We asked for more and they said to call the front office and they would bring more. We did so and were told that there were no more fans available. They sent an ac repair man who replaced the thermostat which didn't work...so here we are enjoying an 80 degree condo on our vacation. Will never ever in my life rent anything from Meyer. The Bel Sole complex itself is very nice and I would definitely recommend it...we've stayed here before and had a great time. Just make sure you don't rent through Meyer. UPDATE: After hours of additional work on the A/C, the temperature will now not go below 81 degrees. It is literally hotter inside than it is outside. Also the freezer isn't working, so neither does the ice machine...and the separate ice machine doesn't work worth a flip either. Soooooo we have rented condos through Gulf Shores - Meyer Vacation Rentals for my whole life. Never, ever, have we had an experience like this, but it'll definitely be our last business to do with Meyer. We booked this condo several months ago after browsing the images online. It was NOT cheap. At all. It looked like a nice place. Well. We walked in the door only to realize we had been catfished it looked nothing as nice as the photos. Y'all, when I tell you this condo was the most disgusting place... I can't. It smelled like musty and mildewed carpet. The carpets were black with filth. Dust was thick on all of the furniture- you can see on the picture of the black lamp shade. The coffee tables and side tables still had crumbs and drink rings on them. There was still food trash on the balcony. Yet- they're supposedly doing extra cleaning for corona. Oh okay. Let's discuss the laundry closet doors. They were broken and completely unattached - if you barely touched them they fell over completely. Imagine that with babies/toddlers!! The bulbs in the lamps were burnt out and the lamp shades were broken. We arrived on Sunday and Mom called Monday and spoke to someone at Meyer. The assured us they'd be there by the next day with light bulbs and fix the laundry doors. Shocker... they never showed up! Mom emailed them on Wednesday to express her concerns and nobody replied. Very displeased with the customer service we have received from Meyer Vacation Rentals. We arrived at our condo this afternoon to discover a very strong smell of urine in the master bathroom/vanity area. Because this room is open to the master bedroom, the bedroom smells terrible also. I notified Meyer immediately. I was told someone from housekeeping would come out quickly to reclean the bathroom. Shortly, Meyer called to ask if coming out tomorrow would be acceptable. I said no. The condo stinks of urine. After waiting another hour I called again. Agent claimed traffic delay. We went out to dinner and returned. Nothing had been done. I called again. I was again told someone was coming out soon to clean and deodorize bathroom. I have rented condos in Gulf Shores for years through this company with no problem. This will be the last time. It is certainly possible for housekeeping to miss cleaning something. That is not the big problem, although not cleaning and sanitizing a toilet is pretty gross. The real issue is the company's apparent lack of concern for correcting the issue despite my repeated calls. Update: Next morning, no surprise to anyone, nothing as been done. Getting in bed on the fifth night, my wife cut her elbow on what we later figured out must have been pieces of a broken lightbulb in the bed mattress pad, that poked through the sheet. We reported it to the Meyer Rental Office and we were assured someone would call us to discuss it. We received no such call. We were sorely disappointed with their response and the fact that it happened in their property and it did not seem to perturb them in the least. NEVER will I book through Meyer. Stayed at Bluewater, 4.4 rating. Infested with roaches. Not the big ones, the little ones. Infested. I called Meyer they said it was sprayed two days ago. Told them we couldn't stay there, their response was they could put us somewhere else but all had bad reviews. Besides roaches there was a pile of Chex mix on the floor so it wasn't vacuumed. Ceiling fans with three light bulbs that were all out. A bed looked made till I threw the bed spread back and no sheets on the bed. No remote in main bedroom ceiling fan had one speed. Hello, I cannot recommend Meyer Vacation Rentals. I bought the travel insurance they recommend, Redsky Insurance, but it did not cover unexpected problems cancelling my stay. For starters, Redsky would not cover a cancellation claim, as Tropical Storm Claudette approached Perdido Key, Florida. We decided to still salvage what promised to be a rainy vacation and headed toward the condo in Florida. On the trip down from Arkansas, the alternator on our van gave out in Jackson, Mississippi making further travel impossible. We notified Meyers Vacation Rental and they said we should use our travel insurance. I therefore filed a 2nd claim, stating 'car trouble' as the cause with Redsky on Sunday, June 20th, 2021. After hearing nothing about the status of either claim by Thursday, June 24th, I called Redsky and spoke with two representatives. Redsky said the 'car claim' was a duplicate claim, even though it was not related to the original claim about TS Claudette. Redsky denied the tropical storm claim by email on Friday June 25th and has not responded in writing, concerning the car claim. Apparently, the policy states that the only car problems covered are accidents with a police report. It is my fault for not reading what the travel insurance would cover, but it is Meyer Vacation Rental's fault for recommending travel insurance with very narrow coverage. I don't recommend Redsky travel insurance unless you anticipate being called for jury duty during your vacation dates or some other unlikely event. Sincerely, Wiser Traveler read more

Had a horrible experience at check in at the Gulf Shores location. Desk attendant was rude and was not wearing a mask as was stated on the sign on the door as being required to enter. I mentioned it to her, and she quickly finished my paperwork and got me out of the office. Makes me question how committed they are to Covid-19 safety and cleaning if their own staff won't wear a mask in the presence of their guests. Favorite aspects were the view and close proximity to the beach. Upon entering home there was damage to front door entry way. There was medication/pill left on nightstand which left us wondering if the room had been sanitized. The master bedroom shower was horrific, covered in mold and I had to scrub the floor of it before we'd use it. The trash can in bathroom had not been cleaned from prior renters and it was filled with hair. I then bought disinfectant to clean the rest of all surfaces of the home to be sure it was covid free clean. The outdoor area had not been swept and there were cigarette butts in both containers outdoors. The indoor pool area was not clean, there was trash and a dirty wet t shirt left near hot tub for three days before it was picked up. It needs a good power washing as flooring is very dirty as well as doors and windows. The hot tubs were not clean nor inviting looking. For the area the condo is in and the price we were charged for the week, especially for cleaning, we expected more in regards to amenities and cleanliness. The cookware is extremely cheap and to not even have a any type of beach chairs nor simply a hair dryer in the unit was disappointing as well. I immediately called Meyer associates in regards to all this and a sympathetic woman said she'd note all and have someone contact us immediately. Even after sending photos and 3 emails we received no response. I finally reached out to a person who originally helped us locate the rental and she immediately sent a handyman over to at least clean the mold in bathroom shower. I would have at the very least expected to have received some type of reimbursement towards cleaning as I had to do so much of it myself when I arrived. If I could give a -5 star review I would. Our vacation started out Saturday with a realtor knocking on the door at noon while we were changing. The couple with her peered into the windows while my kids were changing. Later that afternoon we got a call saying the unit was being showed later that evening. It is now Tues and we have received 4-5 calls a day to show the unit and now we're called and told we needed to move to a different unit 20 miles away in Ft Morgan. Or stay and continue to be bothered multiple times a day to show the unit. The first one being 11:30 tomorrow morning. The owner and Meyer should be ashamed of themselves for ruining my vacation that I paid good money to enjoy. Let me also include the fact that if we relocated we would no longer have a pool for the kids to swim in. But they were so kind in offering to discount my total for the week 10% so that I could PAY to use a pool blocks away from where we were to have moved. Also let me add that The Landing 212 has appliances that are 20+ years old. The coffee maker didn't work. And one of the TVs (old box style) in the second BR didn't work. They did bring a new coffee maker and did pick up the junk TV but we have yet to see a TV that works. Worst. Stay. Ever. The fact is the sheets were not fresh and clean at bed time on June 20 th the day of my arrival. Housekeeping had evidently made up a SOILED bed. There was also a red spot on the spread. Let me start by saying the rental process as smooth and Meyer was very helpful...UNTIL WE ACTUALLY CHECKED IN...then all communication stopped. Upon arrival it was clear the house had not been cleaned. There were crumbs everywhere, the dishwashers were full, the dishes that had been put away had food crusted on them and the floors were filthy. The patios and pool area were also a disaster and had previous renters' belongings scattered around. 3 of our beds appeared to be made but when we went to go to bed that night they didn't even have sheets on them. We stripped our beds at the end of the trip and I really wish we hadn't as we discovered what appeared to be food stains, sweat, slobber or urine on everything. SAFETY CONCERNS...1 of the top bunks in the kids room was caving in...the main patio door didn't lock and could be pushed out at any given time (I called and emailed the rental company and no one returned my call so we spent our own time and money repairing it the best we could in order to keep our kids safe)...one of the freezers had a burning fuel smell when we had the ice maker turned on and it actually burnt a hole in the ice container (also contacted Meyer about this and was ignored so we just ran into town to buy ice every day)...3 of the patio chairs were falling apart to the point that rusty screws were hanging out...and let's not forget the random UNANNOUNCED visits from maintenance men DAILY who just let themselves in (they weren't wearing masks for COVID precautions and one even walked in one of our bedrooms without knocking while someone was changing). Furious is putting it very mildly. When i called and actually got someone on the phone with Meyer and explained my concerns it was clear she wasn't listening to a word I said because her response was...and I quote, "oh good! glad everything worked out for you!". I asked if she heard a word I said and she hung up on me. Oh and I should mention that the unannounced maintenance visits weren't even for things we called about...they came for broken lights, broken jacuzzi and broken sofa bed. One of them even said as he pulled the bed out, "wow that's disgusting!" after a bunch of food cane falling out...which was NOT ours because we weren't able to use it because it was broken and we were not informed ahead of time. So with one bunk bed and the sofa bed broken, 3 people ended up sleeping on couches. MISCELLANEOUS ISSUES...The rinse off shower under the house didn't have a handle so we had to purchase a wrench to be able to use it...and the ROACHES. When we saw a few in the kitchen we had high hopes that's the only place they were but they were also in our bedrooms which lead to everyone sleeping with lights on to hopefully keep them from coming out at night. Very disappointed with this rental with the amount of money we spent and even more disappointed with their lack of interest in addressing ANY of the issues we contacted them about. To begin with, we love the Gulf Shores area and have been vacationing there the last 5 years in a row. Our most recent trip was July 8-11, 2020. Sadly, it was bittersweet. We rented 3 houses. The main house had a broken dishwasher! Regretfully, the same issue had been turned in to Meyers at the end of June and had already received approval for replacement...yet it didn't get done! Consequently, we had to do ALL dishes by hand, for every meal. On this vacation, we had family getting together, so we ate most meals at the house... The dishwasher NEVER did get replaced. Meyers did write an apology, and that would have been fine IF ours was the first incident. Thats all I got. No compensation or other appeasement. We will be using Reed or other agency from now on.
