This place is great if you're looking for the same kind of dining experience one would have in Cancun DURING the worst part of Spring Break week. This is NOT fine dining by any means. Quantity over quality with a capital Q. The drinks were large and strong, I had a great buzz for the 45 minutes we waited in line outside, but when we came in and were seated under the speaker and the volume in the place was already a 12 of 10, and it became apparent that the restaurant is ALWAYS that loud, not just for happy hour or something that quickly turned into more of a cheep tequila hangover before we even got to take a look at the menu which had way too many options and everything we ordered was sub par Latin food (we watched them dump stale chips from what looked like a trash can into the warmer opposite the main bar.) Nothing was "great" it was all just as "loud." They are so overwhelmingly busy, loud, and did I mention LOUD. We could barely talk or order. The bathrooms were fowl, several people had vomited in the urinals in the men's room, but again, with the focus on "liters of Margaritas" on tap at the table. We left after 2 rather large 20 oz (small, they go to 40+ ounces) drinks, some apps and some Fajitas which were priced fairly Okay, and we were left sitting for 30 minutes without wraps, rice, cheese etc. for our dinner. We were NOT staying for desert, not that we were offered the menu. Bottom line, you're your getting that true spring break experience (which if you're in collage or whatever that may be your thing) if you want to get $hitcanned on tequila, in a loud nightclub environment, after waiting an hour for a table for sub par food, you may live for this place. It's new! It's hot! As a Durhamite, who knows how good the food in our town CAN be, this is NOT it. Don't waste your time if you want an ounce of ambience. This is not a date restaurant either (unless again, you both want to get TANKED and that's the ultimate goal of your evening.) We will not be eating there again unless they make some changes. read more

Been really disappointed with, Mexican food in the Triangle.... North Carolina. So recently since this is close to my house, I decided to try it. First off, it is small. It is inside of a run of the mill shopping plaza. My expectations of this place were somewhere between 0-0.5 but, I had a craving, and this was easy and quick. I have to say again.. this place is small. Not good for large parties, but service was nice and quick, food was out in short order and the meal... I have lived in, Texas and California. I am not saying it is at those levels of holiness, but it has been, hands sown, the best, Mexican food, I have had in, North Carolina. Went back a week later and.... it was a repeat performance. Went back a few days later and still, good all the way around. They got 5 stars, not because it is the best, Mexican food, I have ever had but it is the best, I have had in, North Carolina and the experience ALL three times have been spot on. The servers are good, food is brought out quickly and hot. Its location has thrown me off for a long time. I unfortunately had a poor experience here this Saturday 6/17. The waitstaff were great, but I got terrible food poisoning that resulted in my going to the ER due to my physical symptoms (vomit/diarrhea/body aches/fever/chills). My friend contacted the restaurant on my behalf but told me their manager Omar was quite rude and downplayed the fault of their food. I tried getting in contact with Omar to answer any questions they had as he gave my friend the number to contact him, but he just stopped answering and showed little care for what occurred. As medical professional that just didn't sit right so I decided to leave a review to warn those about this establishment. I'll be sure to tell my fellow colleagues in the area about this experience as well. read more

I've been twice now, once for dinner with several friends and once for lunch with one other person. Both times were wonderful dining experiences. The wait service was friendly and prompt and the food was fantastic. Complimentary salsa and chips to start were great. Definitely a few notches above your typical Mexican restaurant. They have a great drink menu with some amazing margarita options. I would highly recommend it for a fun gathering of friends or an intimate meal. Lot's of seating options and nicely decorated. After their system counted my time down I went back in to check the lady said it would be an additional 30 minutes I asked did the timer they sent mean anything she said not really. We left, after leaving not long we received a notification that our table was ready. The lack of communication from your staff is just unacceptable. I ordered chicken fajita. before I comment on my lunch....I'll say the restaurant was beautiful !! The service was great !! the chicken was very thin and dry ! not good. the peppers and onions were soggy. typically aldente (crisp) thicker pepper/onion is 100% better. the rice was tasteless. the quacamole was bland with big chunks of onion. the refried beans old tasting and there were 4 tiny strips of cheese on it. not sure how the shredded lettuce /crema went with fajitas. I very much look forward to trying a different dish. I would not get chicken fajita again. Here's what I would love to see on their fajita plate. juicy chicken!! Larger strips of peppers and onion still with a little crunch. Not a pile of sloshy ones. some cheddar cheese/sour cream. bigger tortillas. and a fajita seasoning sauce . someone from mezcalito come to my house and I will serve you chicken fajitas to taste test. the margarita was yummy as well as the chips and salsa. read more

I had never been to this restaurant before, but found out they had opened in downtown Durham so a colleague and I checked it out for lunch. We were both impressed! Service was fast and friendly, the portions were large (even though we ordered from the lunch menu) and the restaurant was very clean. The only thing we didn't care for was the really loud music. The server requested twice for it to be turned down, but it's so open inside, it's hard to really accommodate when the restaurant isn't full. read more

Used to frequent this place regularly. Unfortunately this past Saturday afternoon I was here and my friend got food poising. While this was unfortunate enough on its own, the shocking part of this experience was how management dealt with us informing them of what had happened. Omar the manager tried to blame it on my friend having "too many margaritas." Unlikely given that we had one single margarita on our tab for a party of 6. Rather than apologizing and making some effort to look into the situation further, we were told there was nothing that could be done and "it probably wasn't the food anyways." I worked in the service industry for years and have never seen management handle a situation so poorly. No one from our party will ever step foot in this establishment again and I advise you don't either unless you want to spend 24 hours in the bathroom and be told it's your own fault. My husband and I came here for lunch. We each ordered an alcoholic beverage. He ordered the Ultimate Micheelada that he said wasn't very good. I must admit that I ordered a Tequila Sunrise that was "nasty". I told the waitress I liked sweet drinks and she recommended the Tequila Sunrise; there was nothing sweet about this drink! In the picture, the various ingredients looked layered with the top portion appearing slightly orange from the orange juice. My drink was one color -pink and was probably the nastiest tasting alcoholic beverage I have ever tasted. When the bill came, I told my husband to check and see if we were charged for the drink that I only took a small drink from ($10.99). My husband's response was that the menu says "all alcohol sales are final". Yes, after only taking a sip from this drink and telling the restaurant manager that the drink tasted "nasty" and he could take it back to the bar, we were still charged for this drink. No attempt was even made to remake the drink to appear similar to the picture... Be cautious when ordering an alcohol beverage from this restaurant. You may end up paying a good sum of money without the enjoyment of a tasty drink. read more

I must say the food here was wonderful, but the service was awful. It started from the moment we were seated by the bar. We were a party of three and one of us has had been there several times before always seated in the main dining area, which is supposed to be amazingly beautiful, which was my expectation, both food, menus and drink. Menus are in Normas and would take more than a second to look through, but yet the waitress arrived immediately wanting to know what we were getting. I told her that I would be ordering one of the margarita bowl like drinks and then I will give me to meet you to pick it out asked her if she could come back she was back within a minute I asked for the piña jalapeño with Petrone. Also, we ordered an appetizer for the three of us to share, she asked what we would be eating for dinner so we put in our dinner orders. I chose chicken fajitas. Within a minute or two the appetizer arrived, and she put it in the center of the table and walked away. We have made it known we would be sharing, but she gave us no plates. after a couple of minutes I was able to get her attention. She came over asked her if she could. Please bring plates and napkins and it took several minutes for her to come back. Within two minutes our dinner had arrived. Looked absolutely awesome but my fajitas did not have a plate nor did she bring the napkins this time. I had a much harder time getting anybody's attention. So several minutes into having our dinners the drinks arrived. The table had not been cleared from the appetizers. There was no where to put the drinks, and she seemed very surprised that I was asking for a plate. It took her several minutes to come back with a plate at the point that she did. She asked if we wanted stuff to package up our food. I told her I have just begun to eat and I just got my drink. She walked away. She was back in seven minutes, asking the same question at which point we took three containers. She asked if we wanted to check if we wanted to have dessert and we told her we would have dessert, if she could bring us a menu, she said there was no menu that night. They only had two desserts churro's, or Tres leches cake. I asked if the churros had a dipping sauce, and then she began to tell me what a churro was. I told her I knew what a churro was but I was inquiring whether they came with dipping sauces. She said she would have to go and ask the cook. She came back and she said we could either have chocolate or caramel so we ordered two churros, one with caramel one with chocolate sauce for the table. I asked her if she could please wait at least five minutes before putting in the order for I was still having my drink, those churros were on the table within two minutes flat they come in glass on a small plate, the churros were covered in chocolate sauce in the glass, and the dipping sauce was caramel which made me laugh a little bit, but not upsetting at all. She said it down, and she walked away again no plates no napkins she got about a step at a Region. I said excuse me very loudly, which she can look very surprised and I said, can you please bring plates we are sharing these desserts, she did so almost immediately. I did notice that the area we were sitting in had been down, but the main dining area sounded like they were having much fun. The food was absolutely awesome. The service was absolutely horrible and the drink didn't even give me a buzz. read more
