I am extremely disappointed with the concrete work done in front of my home. Almost immediately after the job was completed, the surface began to chip and deteriorate, which is completely unacceptable for what should be a durable, long-lasting installation. This raises serious concerns about the quality of materials used and the workmanship overall. Concrete should not start breaking down right after installation--it's clear that corners were cut somewhere in the process. They used extremely cheap material which is unacceptable. Even more frustrating is that despite bringing this issue to their attention, nothing has been done to rectify the situation. There has been no effort to repair, replace, or take responsibility for the poor quality of work. I expected professional results and instead ended up with a product that already looks damaged and worn, along with a complete lack of accountability. My neighbor and I both had concrete work done by Mezzacappa and it flaked soon after. They wanted us to pay to redo it. My neighbor had them redo it for a fee and theirs flaked again. I did not have them redo it and both look equally terrible. I am now in search of a new company that will stand behind their work. read more

Mezzacappa worked on my driveway two times and they've been great. (Picture 2) In July of 2019, they did my driveway from the apron to the yard and it looked beautiful. (Picture 1) They came today to install a zipper drain (channel drain) to the end of my driveway and it was done in a couple of hours. They drilled and broke up the concrete, installed the drain, and poured the concrete. Both times the work was done within the day. That's just fantastic. Looks good so far and I look forward to seeing the drain in action. I'll post another picture when it's dried. The owner Tony was helpful and understanding, his brothers were very friendly and explained things further, and his workers worked extremely hard and answered questions that I had. Recently newly installed concrete walkway and stoop. Sadly the stoop has developed pitted concrete surface, have called and have received no response from contractor. City inspector claims this is an obvious sign of a deficient concrete mixture. obviously not built like a rock. read more

Waited 2 months on agreed price only to tell me that the price is now 3x the original agreed quote. This is after I ask them to come for a quote on another job 2 weeks before work is to start on the first job . Sloppy work, the block is covers in dirt and debris. I went outside to find mud blown all over the side of my car. When confronting the worker took no ownership . The noise is endless from early morning to late night. If one house gets done the whole neighborhood will suffer . I heard you were a bit pricey but after seeing your work compared to those horrible cement co that does retarded work n call themselves a company!?? They are the worst concrete people there is on Staten Island I am so sorry that I hired them first of all I had drainage all over my backyard surroundings I had told them I wanted the concrete the same way it was he didn't do it that way he left half my backyard not done and water now goes into my neighbor's yard which I never had that problem before because I had a dream system there which they did not put back second thing I had told him that his men had broken my lamp post Tony the owner his answer to me was what you think my men would doing planting flowers a good businessman would have said I apologize I'll pay for the damages my concrete is not even a year old and it already has a hairline crack running all the way from the side of my house into my backyard I call him and he tells me that he could do it over for an extra $4,000 first of all I wouldn't hire this man to fix anything or hire this man to do another job the only reason that concrete cracked cuz there is no way he put Expansion Joints in between he gave me two large of slabs and that's why you're cracked he took away all my drainage that I had along the whole perimeter of my yard he's arrogant he's rude he doesn't even he's not even on the job all that Tony does is come by and his big red truck to pick up the money he doesn't even over see he does nothing he's in it for the money he doesn't care what kind of quality work he does or his workers do read more

After meeting with 4 masons Tony was the only one who gave a written estimate. So I figured this was a good start. Plus my neighbor had their work done by Mezzacappa 12 years ago, and not a crack. I needed back patio redone...old pavers removed, patio leveled out, cemented, and new pavers installed. I also needed front walk and steps be redone due to sinking concrete. First impression of Tony: true professional. Immediately provided me with business card, listened to what I wanted done and gave me a written proposal (no other "professional" I contacted did that). My only complaint was that I had a six week wait, but that was my fault for calling so late in the season (after another contractor stood me up). The day of the job, Tony came with his crew. Work began immediately and both jobs were completed in one day. Tony's workers were fantastic; polite, very neat, and conscientious ...they left the work area immaculate. An issue occurred two days later (air conditioner leaked oil on new pavers while being re-installed) and Tony responded immediately to my many panicked calls. He came out, inspected the damage, and sent his men out the following week to remove the damaged pavers and install new ones...all at his cost! As he says, he takes pride in his work and I can attest to it personally!
