Mezzo is an excellent place to enjoy fine Italian dining. My friend and I enjoyed a light lunch, and every single dish was superb. Wished I'd remembered to take pics before we started to eat, but I'm sure you can tell how wonderful it looked. The service was excellent. Sharon was very friendly and efficient. She was knowledgeable about the menu and had lots of suggestions. We decided to dine outside and because the restaurant is nestled in a neighborhood, we people-watched as we enjoyed a leisurely lunch. It was very enjoyable. Kind of an odd experience here. Definitely has an upscale feel, and the food is on the pricy side. The servers are very nice but service was sporadic. It took a long time for our food and drinks to arrive. The arancini and spinach salad we started with were both good. The salad maybe a bit overdressed. It's nice they provide bread and butter for the table. My grilled salmon was bland. I don't understand the marscapone rice it comes with -- I detected *zero*. marscapone. The daily vegetables side could have been from frozen. I needed to ask the server for salt because of the lack of flavor. I really enjoyed my mojito mocktail! Very minty and the elderflower cordial was very flavorful. Didn't miss the booze at all. I'd definitely return but might order the lobster pasta or a steak dish instead of the fish -- my friends seemed to enjoy their entrees more. read more

The waiter seated us by the corner booth, which was nice to have a booth. The food was decent depending on what you order. My husband did not particularly care for the mezzo spaghetti and meatballs, but I enjoyed my dish the fettuccini. Disregard the other reviews the food was nice and hot when served. They had a great musician who played the flute and several known songs, which created a nice romantic vibe. We've been to Mezzo's three times. I've ordered the same menu item each time (braised short ribs). The first time there was quite a bit of fat in it. The second time, the short ribs were phenomenal - almost all tender meat. This last time, I was so disappointed because my short ribs were almost all fat. There are always six of us that go and everyone thought their food and service was subpar. We had late reservations (8:15 p.m.), which I would never do again, because I was looking forward to ordering creme brulee for dessert. Due to the time, most of the servers were cleaning the tables all around us, putting down fresh linens, setting the tables, etc. We get it - they want to go home, but we didn't want to hold them up even longer, so we skipped dessert. Extremely disappointing. Our drinks were small & poorly made for the price. The Old Smoke had no smoke, however the one delivered at the table next to us looked much better. After our cold, burnt bruschetta, it was over 45 minutes until our entrees arrived, & we watched every table around us getting bread. When our entrees came, I had to ask about the bread, which was brought after, & that was the last time we saw our server. My ravioli had raw bacon & undercooked sun-dried tomatoes, which made it very chewy. My boyfriend enjoyed his fettuccini, but we ran out of water half way through our meal. Our waitress did not come to check on us at all after the meals were delivered, the guy who came to clear our plates offered to box up the chewy bacon & sun-dried tomatoes, I advised they weren't properly cooked. Also, real Parmesan matters, if you're an Italian restaurant. The manager came over at the end & apologized, & took a drink off, but it was too late, & still $118 for two pasta dishes, one drink, & bruschetta. We have dined at Mezzo's several times, however the last two times we have been there my dinner has been luke warm!!! It's interesting because the waitress brings the plate to the table warning that the plate is hot....however the meal was NOT!!! I did not send it back because I didn't feel like waiting to have it microwaved or recooked!!!! My husband's pasta meal was similar....his pasta was very hot but his meatballs were not!!!! We have decided we will NOT be eating at Mezzo's again!!!!! read more

Service was great, wonderful staff. The drinks were good. The food pretty good. But the issue, a large party of at least 30 were right next to us & several other large parties near as well. As a couple it was not enjoyable. The noise level was off the chart. If the restaurant allows large parties then reserve to one area & seat other diners near the bar. read more

I can put it down to poor ordering but when that much food doesn't get eaten, I would expect someone to ask if there was an issue but that did not occur. Although we waited extra long for the waitress when we were seated, she apologized and delivered great service. I was there with my wife and kid. We had salmon, lamb, and the veal. The lamb was undercooked - to be fair, I told my wife to take it back but she decided to begrudgingly eat it anyway, which she didn't finish - it was also surrounded by a bed of greasy rice underneath, that was weird. The salmon and veal were both ok, at best. The salmon was dry. The appetizers for two, however, were good. It was a mix of tomato with cheese on top, eggplant, bruschetta, calamari, etc. and all of it was tasty. However, for a higher-end restaurant, the presentation of the entrees was unimaginative. Again, they were overall only ok. That said, not sure what all the hype was about with the food. This was the reason we came here. It's overpriced and under-good (specifically the entrees). The people who have rated this five stars on the food clearly haven't eaten outside of Windsor. Maybe the chef was having a bad day when we were there. We had Mezzo cater dinners for our family on Dec 27th as part of an annual event. We had multiple locations for delivery and wanted to customize the menu due to some dietary requirements within our family. Filip and the Mezzo staff were amazing. They provided their standard menu as a starting point and allowed us to customize to our needs. The food was amazing, with very plentiful quantities (We enjoyed the leftovers the next day as well). Delivery was right on time and everything was handled smoothly via email and a couple of quick calls to coordinate. I couldn't recommend them more. Great food, outstanding service, excellent delivery and a very reasonable price. If you need catering for an event or take out during these tough times, Mezzo is the place to go!!! read more

Wow, what an experience! I visited with my wife and my friend and his wife. We had a blast and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Drinks were fabulous and good portions for your money. Appetizers ordered were the Salsiccia and the Primo Platto. Let me tell you; they each say they could serve two (2) but the portion sizes could serve three (3) or four (4), easily. We could not finish the Primo Platto (cheese and meats charcuterie). The Salsiccia reminded me of my days in NYC when I'd head down to the San Gennaro festival and get a Salsiccia sandwich on a nice crusty roll. Dinner was an easy review. Two (2) of us ordered the Lobster Penne and two (2) of us ordered the Baccala. Now, I am steak and potatoes kind of guy myself, and I will head to chicken if I feel like avoiding beef from time to time, but I will tell you that Baccala was a winner! I was so pleased that I decided to 'go rogue' and order that. The fish was light and flavorful, the rice (basmati) was cooked perfectly (flaky, not clumpy) and the vegetables were to die for! My wife ordered the Penne Lobster and took half of it home. The lobster tail and the shrimp were delicious and the penne done just right (just on the line between al dente and fully cooked). The blush sauce was a perfect blend of a classic red tomato sauce and a cream sauce --- not too heavy'; bursting with flavor. The sauce was of just the right consistency --- it adhered to the pasta and did not form a pool of liquid at the bottom of the dish. Everything was served hot from the kitchen; no lukewarm dishes that so often are the tell-tale signs of confusion in the kitchen and at "the pass." After dinner my wife and I shared a caramel-peanut butter cheesecake and our friends shared a huge fudge brownie (complete with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). An espresso, a cappuccino and two (2) coffees rounded out the meal. Now, there is nothing that will spoil a good meal faster than a bad cup of coffee, but this place was operating on all thrusters Saturday night. The coffee (was that a hint of chicory I detected?) was the most delicious cup of coffee I had had in ages and I kick myself for not asking for a refill. The coffee was so hot I nearly burned myself grabbing the cup. Our co-diners expressed their complete satisfaction with their espresso and cappuccino. I'm sorry we did not have a larger party -- I would have been able to "sample" a wider variety of dishes, but that is what return trips are for because I/we will be back. Kudos to Mezzo Ristorante for not just a great meal, but a great dining experience. Lastly, kudos to Lenny/Selene, our female wait staffer, who helped us with suggestions that were spot-on and provided excellent service throughout the meal. If there were a sixth star available in Yelp! ratings, Mezzo Ristorante & Lounge would get it. read more

The Caesar salad was very good too. The recommended desert (chocolate crepes) was a major disappointment. I was told the apple tart surprise was not close to this. Well it must be pretty bad. My coworker had pasta with seafood. He said it was good but not on the level of Spago's. Service was decent and friendly. Wine prices were around $9 glass. Fairly priced restaurant. read more

Love and appreciate all the support this restaurant has given to frontline workers during this pandemic! That being said, we ordered last weekend and spent $150 on food and literally not one single thing was edible. I was so upset as we have eaten here countless times in the past. On top of the food being below past standards we got (what I can only assume was) food poisoning. Attempted to contact the owners and got no response. I completely agree with Sandra B. I have been here twice. I am not the type of person to give a place 1 star because even crapholes like kelseys deserve a 2. But this place makes food like bad. 1st occasion - The 1st time I went was when I was first getting interested in food. I went because the menu looked alright and my wife wanted to try it. I don't remember what I got the first time but I remember it not being anything special. I remember my wife not enjoying the food either. 2 occasion - The second time I went was recently because someone gave me a gift card for my birthday. I went and ordered osso bucco as per the gifter's suggestion. I thought it was one the most oily, bland, disgusting things that I have ever eaten. My wife didn't enjoy her food as well. Service - The waiter I had also treated me poorly. She questioned me why it seemed like I didn't enjoy the meal and I told her that it was oily and bland. She basically questioned me as to how I can think that and treated me like a kid(I am 26 by the way) that doesn't know food. It was very disrespectful. Dessert - I generally expect Italian restaurants to make tiramisu pretty well but I was disappointed by a rather below average one here. Overall, I found the food to be un-aspiring, un-memorable and bland the two occasions that I went. If you want some nice Italian food, head on, down the street to Nico's. read more

Went to another restaurant down the street but the wait was way too long so we strolled down the street and checked out Mezzo. This was a fortunate find!!! Let me tell you we were NOT disappointed. From my first contact with Filip, to the end of the meal, everything was perfect! Filip was very accommodating with working on a menu, and even printed up special menus for each place setting. Appetizers were delicious. The three meal choices we had were all fabulous, and everyone raved about the cheesecake and tiramisu. Our waiter, Mario, was outstanding. Great lunch today. Shared grilled calamari a large portion perfectly cooked. Grilled shrimp salad with 6 tasty shrimp and goat cheese just delicious for my wife. Lemon mushroom veal, a large and equally delicious entree with salad ( a bit overwhelmed by dressing) for me. Topped off with terrific coffee. Will definitely be back again. Had lunch here with my husband. Our server, Robin, was warm and made us feel welcome. The dining room was not busy when we were there. We order mussels for appetizers. They were so delicious. I definitely recommend them. I had the veal parmesan with penna and my husband had the veal sandwich. Very delicious. I have no idea what they did to the fries that came with my husband's sandwich but they were heavenly. Perfect crispness on the outside and fluffy inside.
