The food was really good overall. I had the rib steak cooked medium well, which was $72. It was flavorful, cooked just the way I asked, and had a nice char on the outside while staying tender inside. That said, I'd highly recommend the blackened chicken my friend ordered, it was seasoned perfectly, juicy, and honestly stole the show at our table. I did enjoy the crab legs entree, which was $50! And my keg sized Caesars were $12 a pop! Two drinks each and $60 (tax and tip) was on drinks alone!! Ridiculous! My husband had a special, which was a coffee rubbed steak and that was very good, I believe it was about $30. Bringing our bill to a whopping $140 plus tip!!!! I wont be going back to the keg for a long time. I noticed a lot of couples were sharing a bottle of wine and two appetizers, and now I understand why. My biggest problem is that this place is only open for dinner. Having little ones makes us go out for more lunches or very early meals rather than late dinners. I ordered a steak - medium - and it came out well done. Fifteen minutes later, they brought out a rare steak. They threw that same rare steak back on the grill and it was finally medium. But they charred the outside to get it that way. A long and uneventful night. So sorry to order steak from a steak house. They took it off my bill and my table got free dessert. Our server was fantastic and helped make a birthday dinner all the more special. I loved their Pecan Sirloin, but it was unfortunately removed from their menu a while back. Imagine our surprise at seeing it back on a special menu. For those not familiar with the dish, its a perfectly cooked steak topped with goat cheese and pecans, with a wine reduction served on the side. It is fantastic. 2 of our group of 4 ordered this, myself included. Another person ordered the salmon, her go to dish here as she doesn't eat red meat. It was a good size and she ate every morsel. I've always had a great meal at the Keg (pretty much all locations) but I find that their prices are really getting out of hand. First they scaled back the size of their entrées and then they raised their prices all the way around. It's getting to the point that the average person can't afford the Keg except perhaps on a very special occasion. Maybe that's the market they're targeting? The last time my wife and I went we had water and no dessert and with tip and tax and paid almost $115. The time before that we were close to $175 with dessert and a couple of drinks each....crazy! As another reviewer pointed out there are much better options out there (like Erie Street) that have comparable quality for significantly less money. We won't be back for quite some time. read more

I dine here a few times a year for the prime rib med. rare (my husband prefers their salmon or steak)s. We LOVE the garlic mashed potatoes and this is about the only restaurant that we will have dessert because of the Billy Miner Pie! The Keg is a nice restaurant with river views that serves above standard fare for very respectable prices. My girlfriend is living in the Toronto area and I live in Cincinnati so this is a good halfway point for us. We decided to give this place a try on the recommendations of the hotel staff where we were staying. Despite not having a reservation on a Friday at up, we were able to set up near the bar and the service was excellent from a lovely young lady named Angela. The gf had a cab sauv that was quite good and I had an old fashioned that was just okay, will probably get the wine instead next time. I got the 10oz filet with fries and a caesar salad, she got the prime rib, mixed greens and asparagus. Both were excellently prepared and had wonderful flavors. The filet came bacon wrapped and with bernaise sauce, sauteed mushrooms and light greens. The prime rib came with the jus and the same veggies. Overall our experience was excellent and I definitely recommend it, its not going to change your life but the quality of food and service weighed against the cost made this a wonderful experience. read more

So the Keg underwent extensive renovations, but in the transition they forgot the kitchen! I have to say that dessert was the highlight of our meals. A group of 4 of us had a pricey meal there this past week and will not be returning. I had an unremarkable trio of fillets that resembled 3 non uniform chunks of beef. The chimmichuri sauce tasted of nothing but vinegar totally lacking garlic or olive oil. The Bernaise was missing tarragon and shallots and tasted like a mix. The peppercorn sauce was sharp. The $7 wedge salad had about a tbsp of chopped tomato and a sprinkle of bacon and could have used some red onion. Pricey for half a head of iceberg lettuce. One of the biggest insults of the night was the celery stalk in the Bloody Caesar. Instead of a whole stalk, they had chopped off the stalk and carefully placed the leafy part just below the surface of the drink. Our bill was $270 for 4 and no one thought their meal was great. read more
