I've been going to Miller Studio's for the past 7 months or so....I get my hair done with Myra. Myra is so sweet and attentive.......she truly cares about her clients and their needs. I've colored my hair with her and have also gotten it cut. Although she listens to what you want done, she also gives you her input, which is wonderful because we don't always know what we truly need or want. I also had a Groupon for $100 toward hair services. I made the appointment in person the weekend before. They lost my reservation. I got there at 3pm, they fiddled around a bit, then decided that Mayra would be able to take care of me. The shampoo was just a shampoo--not as long as I'm used to. She put a conditioner treatment in my hair and said that it should be about 15 minutes before she could get to me. Well, next thing you know, it was 1.5 hours later. Just when I was ready to bolt with treatment still in my hair, it was my turn. I wish they would have just told me, "so sorry but it's better that we reschedule." I told her I wanted a kind of rockstar-ish cut, longish in the back shaped like a V with a lot of play around the shoulders and face. It follows what I asked for, but not in a sleek, edgy way. I got a Mom-cut. I asked her to try to make the bangs more "bitchy," but she didn't seem able to, maybe b/c they were too eff-ing short. Their prices listed on the glossy card at the counter lists hair cut prices at $65 and they go up to $95 for "Creative Designer." (On website, $75-95.) Despite the fact that Mayra's title is "New Talent," they charged me $95, said tax was included, and I would have a $5 credit to my account. What a way to milk a Groupon! What do you call it when a business uses Groupon to bring in tons of new clients and then treats those Groupon clients like second-class customers? (Not a rhetorical question--does anyone have a good name for this?) I walked out the door at 5:45pm. I smiled and said thank you, tipped well, but honestly, I was just so happy to leave. i came here b/c of a daily candy weekend special - $85 for a hair treatment and 30-min facial and 30-min massage. I had a wedding to go to so it was perfect timing. Margaret cut my hair and Sienna did my facial / massage. My hair treatment included a deep conditioning (amazing!!! scalp massage) and a cut. I have been cutting my hair with the same person for about 15 years and had only cheated once... so I was scared. Scared for nothing! I loved my cut. Margaret did exactly what I asked her to do. It was the perfect length and style, and her blow dry was perfect. Next was my facial. Sienna was late, but boy did she make up for lost time. The facial / massage were relaxing, and during the facial, she shaped my eyebrows (and did a great job). Since I was running behind in getting ready for that wedding, she offered to throw in some air brush make up (which I had never done and was REALLY scared about)... OH MY GOD. it looked SO natural. She used the perfect shade on my face - my skin was flawless and appeared to not have make up on. She also did my eyes and blush - very subtle lavender on the eyes and sun kissed cheeks.... A M A Z I N G. I left this salon a very happy camper. All I had to do when I got home was put on my dress, apply some eye liner and mascara, and get in the car. I have mixed feelings on this salon. I tried it out because I had a Groupon or Couptessa deal for $100 toward hair services. The pros: -Staff was very, very friendly and welcoming (rare to find in Miami!) -My shampoo/scalp massage was heavenly! It actually got rid of a nagging headache I had...yay!! -The shampoo area is super tranquil and relaxing....loved it! The cons: -I don't feel like the girl who did my hair really listened to what I was asking for. I wanted a piecey bob with chunky highlights, but I ended up with a blunt, blah bob with super thin highlights. The color was pretty, but not what I was going for. -They like to upsell....ugh! I got partial highlites, a glaze (which I didn't go in asking for), and a basic cut/blow dry. This came to $260 before my coupon....OUCH! Mind you I have shoulder/chin length hair-- nothing major to work with. Conclusion? While I loved the friendly staff and welcoming environment, I really can't afford the prices here, especially when I leave not getting exactly what I want. Wow this is definitely the nicest salon in Coral Gables/Miami. The atmosphere is friendly and they have the best stylists. As soon as you arrive, they are always quick to offer you a beverage, I love a glass of red wine while my hair is being done. Fantastic hair salon in the Gables. I came to this saloon through a living social ($50 for a wax treatment, cut and blow dry) and I am so glad I did! I made the appointment online and was seen the moment I walked through the door (loved the fact that I didn't have to sit in the waiting room for 20 minutes). I was greeted by my stylist Bruce, who immediately handed me a glass of wine and asked what I was looking for. Bruce was so nice and funny and you could tell that he really takes his work seriously. He took extra time with my very thick hair and made sure that all my layers were perfectly shaped and the cut was just right before letting me leave. I was a little nervous that there would be some hidden charge at the end as I have experienced before with living socials and hair salons (tax, "extra hair" charge etc) and was shocked when the cashier told me that I didn't owe them a dime. Avoid Miller and his salon at all costs! I went to this salon a total of 4 times to get color and highlights done by Miller. For the first consultation he was great. He was so nice and acted like he was really listening but with each appointment he became ruder, more moody, and less interested in doing a good job, just rushing through to finish and move on to the next person. The final straw was a few weeks ago. I went for my appointment which was supposed to be the last one of the day and he was just cutting a women's hair and another woman was waiting to get color done before me. When I asked the receptionist how long I was going to have to wait she did not want to give me an answer b/c she knew it would be long and admitted he was running very behind and went to ask Miller. He yelled at me from across the salon that I did not specify I wanted highlights and color and he didn't have time to do that & I needed come back another time if that's what I wanted. He did not even let me get a word in when I tried to explain I only wanted a few face framing highlights not a full set. Instead of apologizing for running so behind he tried to blame the customer. Since he did not have another appointment for color for weeks he then tried to pass me off to another guy in the salon (tall Scandinavian looking guy blond hair and blue eyes). Even though I was not comfortable w/this I was trying not to be difficult and trusted Miller would give me to someone that knew what they were doing. I couldn't have been more wrong. I brought several pictures of Jennifer Aniston and wanted my hair even lighter than I had been doing it. My hair came out almost as dark as my natural color which is a very dark brown and looked nothing like the photo. Not to mention the bottom half was much lighter and now my hair is 2 different colors. I told him this and he kept making excuses and saying it would get lighter as it dried and look lighter in the sun. He told me to come back the next day and he would try to fix the area on my hair line which was my natural color and looked terrible. The next day I called to the salon to speak to Miller b/c I did not want that guy touching my hair, he obviously did not know what he was doing. Of course, Miller was to busy to come to the phone and I explained my dilemma to the receptionist who said he would tell Miller. I was trying to avoid a scene and I did not want the stylist to feel bad. She assured me Miller would rectify the situation. When I got there she had not told Miller and the same guy came to me to take me to my chair. I told him my hair was too dark and I was not happy with it and he told me that what I was saying was not true and actually tried to argue w/me in front of everyone. I asked the receptionist very calmly to have Miller come downstairs and instead he sent a messenger b/c he couldn't be bothered. She informed me that she could fix my hair b/c Miller was too busy but she couldn't fix it that day either bc she was also fully booked. I wouldn't have done this either way b.c I was not letting a 3rd person touch my hair. When I asked if Miller could simply mix the color and have an assistant put it on my hair she told me they were too busy for that too. Pretty much everyone was too busy. At this point I had enough and asked for a refund b/c I was not going to accommodate to their schedule when I did not get what I asked for and it was their mistake. I was given the run around for another month until I finally got my refund. The way Miller handled the whole situation was inexcusable and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I did not get one apology and the fact that he didn't even bother to speak with me when I was there is just baffling. When you pay $180+ for their services I would expect better service than what I got. I will never go back there and my advice is to steer clear of this place. Miller is full of himself and thinks he is some diva famous hair stylist. He does not care about his clients and is above customer service seems to have forgotten he is in an industry which is geared towards customers. read more

I don't like to be mean, but I felt I had to write this review to protect fellow yelpers. By far the most TRAUMATIZING hair experience I have had in a while. I bought a online groupon deal for this place that was supposed to give me a mani/pedi and $75 of hair services. Over the three months I tried to schedule an appointment, they said there was nobody to do the nails, so they could only offer me $130 hair services. maybe a scam? not sure. So with all that money, I decided I would get highlights which are priced $90 and up. I have long hair, so I was expecting to pay more. I have never colored my hair before, so I was really nervous when I walked in. I was placed with Margaret. I had a few pictures of what I wanted and I told her I wanted to add some dimension to my flat, dark brown hair. I wanted a golden/honey brown tone. Notice I said BROWN. I also told her that I didn't want there to be too much difference in shades from my base color because I think that looks tacky. I wanted everything to blend well. She didn't seem to have much of a creative point of view as she didn't offer much input, just kinda stared and touched my hair. The entire process took about 2.5 hours (I have a lot of hair). I was a little scared because the product she had applied from the beginning had been sitting on my hair atleast 1 hour more than the product she applied towards the end. I figured this is just standard and everything will be fine. My hair was washed and she applied the tint. She ran out of product halfway through (remember I have lots of hair) so she went back to mix more. I think this may have caused the colors of the highlights to be different tones as the proportion of the colors she blended may have been different in the second batch. It was time to dry my hair. She wanted to blow it out straight (upsell), but I love my curly hair, so I said it's fine I can just diffuse it so I can see how it looks when I style it. She handed me the blow dryer and I dried my hair myself. As I was drying, I was nervous as HELL because it just kept getting lighter and lighter. One of the stylists walked by and said "you know what they say, blondes have more fun!". He was trying to be nice, but I wanted to cry because I was still supposed to be a BRUNETTE! I put my glasses on and saw the full detail of what had happened to my hair. It was lighter, but the highlights had a very brassy almost orange tone and my hair felt so damaged. There was so much contrast between the base color and the highlights. I didn't feel sexy at all and I just didn't even feel like complaining as the salon kept complimenting me on how good it looked...Maybe our aesthetic tastes are different, but I wanted to look classy not like a Miami porn star. When it came time to pay, the girl at the front told me I was getting a first time discount, so my service was only going to be $180 (thanks). When I told her I had a groupon ( I always reveal my groupon after a service as I believe you will be treated differently) she said the discount no longer applied, so the cost would be $220. I know I have long hair, but highlights went from starting price of $90 to $220..... I paid the difference that the groupon didn't cover and left no tip. Two weeks later the streaks were even more brassy and orange, so I went to walmart and bought a $9 box of L'oreal hair dye. Now I'm waiting until the color grows out and I have had to cut about 5 inches of damaged hair. I'm full of regrets and it will be a while before I try to change my hair color again. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE! I was running late and called the salon to advise I would be 5 minutes late. I was told no problem. I arrived 5 minutes late and was kindly offered a beverage and was advised my stylist, Mayra, would be with me shortly. I sat there waiting for OVER an HOUR! I was very unhappy. Mayra offered to give me a free treatment on my next visit so I was calmed down after that. Then I had my Keratin. The process of putting the Keratin treatment in my hair and styling took about 1 hour and a half. My hair is very long, wavy and thick reaching to the middle of my back. Washing and styling alone takes an hour. When I asked the stylist if she was doing the treatment properly, she assured me I would love the result. Similar to Ms. Singh's note above, I bought the couptessa for $200 Worth of Hair Services but I was still charged an additional $100 plus $20 tip for my service. I left the salon and went to get my eyebrows done at a different salon. When I mentioned to the ladies at the salon I just had a Keratin treatment 10 minutes before, they were shocked. My hair was already frizzing up and it should not have been. They recommended I immediately go back to the salon I came from and inform the stylist. I walked back to the salon within 1 hour and spoke to Mayra. She said the Keratin had to sit for a few days and she reminded me not to wash it, get it wet, etc...and to come back if there were any more issues. I left the Keratin in my hair for 3 days. My hair was super frizzy and dry. I received a call from the salon to ask how my service was. When I explained how poorly everything was, they immediately made me a new appointment. The day before my appointment, no one called to confirm. I called the salon myself to confirm and no one answered the telephone. Needless to say, the follow up appointment never happened. Since the treatment, my hair has been very unruly and bends in unusual ways. Additionally, it is limp with no body. The very front/top of my hair has broken off and sticks out. Aside from being flat ironed, I cannot wear any other hairstyle. As a result, my hair is damaged from all the heat. Overall, this was a terrible experience. It is one thing to get a bad hairstyle or haircut; you can wash it out or style it differently. My ENTIRE hair texture was changed... for the worse! I would not recommend anyone get a Keratin treatment at Miller's studio! read more

I ventured to Miller's Studio for a color pick-me-up. I was happy to be greeted by a well-though-out salon with a clean, modern look and a nicer-than-nice staff. The salon even has an outdoor lounge area while you wait for your color to set in. Jacob did my color and made it a rich, dark chocolate, just like I like it. He was also eager to show me the line of mineral makeup he created for the salon. He let me try out the mascara and the lipgloss. The gloss is amazing. I def. recommend it. This place also offers up keratin treatments for $150 for first-time visits. That's a bargain. When it was time to rinse the color out, I was taken to a serene candle-lit rinsing room. true story: about 5 years ago i was shopping in the falls and i actually stopped a woman to ask her who did her hair bc her cut was so amazing. she happily replied miller, here is his card. i carried that card in my wallet for about 3 years, and eventually tossed it out in one of my massive cleaning sprees. fast forward to the groupon deal of the day about a month ago. an awesome deal at miller hair studio. i figured this was my chance, after all miller had always been in the back of my mind. for $40 i was getting a haircut and mani/pedi. they no longer have a manicurist so they offered me the credit of 55 to apply to another treatment. i opted for a glaze tmrt - nothing too permanent, im a slight commitment phobe. i got there right on time to an ultra chic all white salon - so clean and refreshing. typical salon vibe going on. they also have an adorable outdoor patio where you can hang out and relax. and they have an upstairs area for facials and other trmts. the hair wash room is dark and quiet with nice music playing for an extra relaxing wash and scalp massage with oils. it was amazing!! miller was great at putting me at ease and telling me what he was going to do. when i told him my age he was shocked -bc i look so much younger ;) he wanted to give me a sassy yet sophisticated look. i put full trust in him, kinda hard for me, but i went with it. i felt super comfortable as the inches were just coming off, about 5 in total i think. he blew out my hair and i loved it. everyone at the salon was like whoa, your cut, style, and color are amazing (must give props to my parents for my naturally awesome color though) overall a great experience and i think i will definitely be back!! the only minor annoyance which i feel i should mention is the product pushing. its ok to mention once, but i felt like everyone here was trying to sell me something from the super sweet hair wash girl to the facialist who came over to give me a sales pitch while my hair was getting dried, even the bubbly and professional receptionist. i didnt mind so much bc everyone was so nice and i loved my new cut!! read more

I recently purchased a groupon for Miller's hair studio. I decided to used it for a hair cut and to get my nails done. When I rang there was no one available to do my nails. I decided then to get a dye and cut. the groupon was $75 for $130 worth of service. I was given one of the most average hair cuts I have ever recieved in my life, had some colour put through, that made very little difference to how my hair origanally looked and was then charged a further $155.00 so all up $255.00. While I was there there was also a lot of cross selling try to persaude me to buy even more expensive items. The only compliments I had on my hair were from Miller employees. Other yelpers are spot on - the all white decor makes you feel immediately relaxed and only enhances the professional treatments you receive. Recently, I went to Miller's to get airbrush makeup. One word: amazing! This is the only salon I've heard of that has airbrush makeup but for an affordable price. The spray feels so refreshing as the makeup artist applies it, and the results are fantastic. Long wear time, weightless feel, full coverage, and virbant colors. One of the most amazing salons I've ever been to - and I live in New York City! I decided on a whim to have a Keratin treatment on my hair, and thought the $150 deal was too good to be true. Lyndsay, the salon coordinator, was so sweet and accommodating in scheduling my last minute appointment. She even set my husband up to wait with water and shade in their pretty outdoor lounge! The salon was clean and beautiful, and everyone was very professional. Joshua performed my Keratin treatment and he was friendly and knowledgeable. At times I had multiple stylists helping out to make the process go faster and more smoothly. My hair is so shiny and silky, I'm in love! I can't wait to go back again on my next trip home.
