You name it, I've been there, and Muse still rates the best when it comes to color and cuts. The owners -- Mabel, Ogi and Mike -- are all excellent when it comes to any hair dilemma. All three hail from chichi Avant Garde and opened up Muse. The vibe is warm and homey, which is a breath of fresh air -- especially if you don't like a high-nose ambiance when it comes to your hair dresser. There's also tons of parking which is sadly a rare commodity nowadays. There's also something to be said of their nail techs. They are quick, meticulous and not chatty (my personal pet peeve!) Since graduating college in Atlanta, I have been in desperate search for a reasonable and talented hairdresser in Miami. I have tried everything from SuperCuts to high-end salons on Miracle Mile. For my most recent haircut, I decided to try Muse- good Yelp reviews and close to my house. I had a 4:30pm appointment on a Friday in December, so needless to say, the salon was BUSY. After waiting 15 minutes, my stylist was still not ready for me, but major points to the floor manager for recognizing the problem and offering a solution- free conditioning treatment while you wait. As I am waiting under the dryer with the conditioner, Mabel, one of the owners, comes up to me and says "I am going to cut your hair instead- sorry about the delay!" Mabel is AMAZING! Great cut, just the right amount of chat and she totally understood what I wanted- simple day-time hair (hello, high school teacher) with the ability to style it cute/sexy for the evening. I went in perfectly content with my hair length and color, just wanted a blow out as I was there with my mom and sister. The lady assigned to me immediately warmed up to me as a fellow faux-ginger (ssshhh). We spent the whole time chatting about hair care, her helping me in my endeavor to become a platinum blonde utilizing at home bleach kits (yikes!), but she admired my hutzpah! Or at least, I think she did. So many places, especially in the gables have a tendency towards making you feel inadequate or poor. This wonderful red-haired woman, I wish I could remember her name, gave me tips on how to not kill my hair, what hair styles would look best on me, and talked me out of some truly atrocious bangs. I got my hair blow dried and pedi-mani done. The good: Nice location, clean salon, very kind staff. Professional hairstylists. The bad: Only one lady does pedi-mani The ugly: I got more bleeding spot, bruises on my hand and feet during pedi-mani than ever before!! I look like I just came from war.... Ogy is my go to hairstylist :) I moved to DC about a year ago, and I miss her! I've found a couple good hairstylists in DC, but no one has compared to Ogy.She is sweet and professional, but most importantly she's personable. You can honestly talk to her like she's your best friend. I've had several haircuts and colors over the past 2 years, and I've gotten compliment after compliment when Ogy works her magic. Mabel is unbelievable - the best haircut and blow out I've ever gotten. I have been going to the same guy for almost 20 years, and he is amazing, so I was really nervous to let anyone else come near me with a pair of scissors. But now I live an hour++ away from his salon closer to this salon. She sat me down before the cut and talked to me about what I wanted. I could not be happier with the end result! I went to get my eyebrows done with Oriya after a friend recommended her. I have really sensitive skin so she recommended her and said the wax she uses might be good for me. She did a great job and gave my eyebrow an awesome shape but just as suspected my skin still got super bumpy after waxing. Not her fault but I've realized that I can't wax my eyebrows without taking Cortisone cream with me to be applied right after. While I think she's REALLY great, I think their services are way too overpriced. I found another place close by from a recommendation - just as good and half the cost. If you don't care spending $30 for eyebrows then definitely give her a try! *They don't take tip by card so make sure to bring cash on you. read more

I recently visited this establishment for the first time after receiving a gift card for use there. I didn't know anyone or anything about them. Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted by one of the owners, Mabel, whom I had the appointment with. Both she, her staff/co-workers and even the customers couldn't be nicer and welcoming! Originally I wanted a facial, but upon calling and making the appointment, I was told it was meant to only be used for haircut, blow dry, color (1) choice from the list only. So upon discussing the options with Mabel we decided to do a color & highlights combo. It was a magical experience and I felt like Cinderella getting dolled-up for the ball! This was most meaningful to me because I have recently turned 50 years old and had a full head of disgusting gray hair! MABEL IS AMAZING! I am from New York and was getting married in Miami so I had to trust my recommendations. Mabel came highly recommended to me for hair. She came on site to do mine and my bridal party's hair AND makeup. She was so fantastic (and she's a lot of fun to be around too!) We weren't overdone at all. Our hair was soft, modern and cool. Really nice staff. Came in excited for a men's haircut but left disappointed. It really wasn't worth the $40 if they can't even wash your hair after the haircut to get rid of the hair on your face and neck. My husband and his friends get their haircuts here by Ogi and Mable. Great location if you are in the Gables I went to Ogi when she was at another salon before doing her own thing (Avant Garde). And I introduced my husband to her. I have to say that their strength is w. Mens haircuts. Does stellar job w. my husband...even cuts the hairs in his ears! And his eyebrows! Love it! You see my husband is no where near being a metrosexual kinda guy and he needs someone to take care and Ogi and Mable do the job. And Mable makes for nice eye candy for the men : ) read more

I was getting hair extensions put in at this salon. The salon bought the hair from an outside company so you paid THe Muse and they bought the hair and put it in for you. When the hair I ordered was not the quality I received before I asked them to take them out and send them back. When the company refused to refund the hair so did the salon. So I was out $300 and the salon did not offer to refund the money or give me new extensions. That is bad business and disrespectful to loyal customers who have spent thousands in this salon. read more

I heard so many great things about this salon but I am very disappointed in my experience. My stylist was chatting it up with another stylist the whole time and not really paying attention to what she was doing at all. She took huge chunks out of my hair that I didn't ask for. My long hair is now a shaggy choppy mess! It is also uneven. I'm very unhappy and it will take years to grow back this mistake. I'm so upset by this. I do not recommend Ogi.
