    Sopapias with honey.
    Marie R.

While visiting family they suggested this restaurant. I ordered the two flautas. One chicken one beef. Well, I was served two burned beef flautas. They were incredibly dry. The waitress was unfriendly. She ignored us and we were left waiting for the check far more than it should have taken. If you've got this far I will tell you what was good. The guacamole tasted fresh, the salsa was excellent, and the honey for the Sopapias was good. Sadly it wasn't enough to make the experience pleasant. I regretted going here and wished we'd gone elsewhere especially on our last night visiting AZ.

Friendly, quick service even though the place is large and busy. You do get chips and salsa upon sitting down. Medium sized menu with a few vegetarian options, but mostly chicken and beef choices.

I was just in town for one evening and this place was recommended for dinner. I had the Sonora #10 entree and it was good. I even left the black olives on there and I typically do not eat them. The chips and salsa were good. I came mainly for the sopapillas and they were good but not outstanding as I had hoped. They were overcooked. Maybe I should have ordered a second batch. I like them plain with some honey. I like supporting local and this restaurant has been around for over 4 decades so they are doing something right. I would stop by again.

Their chips and salsa. 5/5 - the salsa is surprisingly addicting!

( This is the second of five reviews I've prepared for describing some of the food I ate while I was out in Phoenix, Arizona. ) Part of the reason I was in Phoenix to begin with was work, which also means driving out to the surrounding areas for business. Of course, when you're working, it's also very easy to build up an appetite. Due to Arizona's proximity to the Mexican border, it's easy to find a Mexican restaurant or three nearby -- this one is one that came client-recommended, hence why we came here! Mi Amigo Ricardo is one of the more popular Mexican restaurants in Casa Grande, and that much was obvious when we got there and saw a lot of packed tables. With old-school ranch decor, murals painted all over the walls, and wood beams and paneling everywhere, it gave off the feel of the Wild West -- which I suspect that the owners were going for. Anyway, on to the food itself -- I will fully disclose that as we were here for a business lunch, my review will be fairly sparse when it comes to how many dishes I was able to try. However, their menu has pretty much all the "greatest hits" you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant, like tacos, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Their chips and salsa are addicting, though -- the sals in particular packed a surprising kick that was quite addictive! I ended up getting the Mazatlan combination -- a ground beef taco and cheese enchilada with rice and beans. While I will say that it was good, I'll also admit that it was a bit underseasoned -- I could have done with more spice on my food, though I remedied it by adding some of the chip salsa to my offerings. That said, though, I played it rather safe by getting the ground beef taco ( or a "gringo taco" as some of my non-work friends would call it ) and cheese enchilada -- I suspect that if I'd tried something else, I would've been more satisfied. That said, though, the food was still pretty decent and I liked what I ate! The servers were also attentive and made sure our drinks were refilled quickly. Overall, a great experience; if you're out at Casa Grande, you can't go wrong by coming here for lunch or dinner.

I've traveled all over Mexico and because of that I'm fairly critical of Mexican restaurants in the US. Here's one worth going to and enjoying. I had the chicken burro. Pulled chicken in a wrap seasoned lightly with a delicious brown sauce. It was great! Others with me had the chili and taco salad. They both said they were great! Service was fast and friendly. We liked this place. It gets a big recommend from me!

All 3 plates of Enchiladas, rice and beans. My dad got a taco as a side.

As soon as we came in they were fast to get us seated, before we sat they got our drink orders, and right after that someone came by with chips and salsa for our table. They did quick drink, salsa and chip refills, and then our food orders were taken quick and timely manner. The waitress was polite did 2-3 check ins, and brought out our orders in less than an hour. Overall would come back again. I definitely recommend if you're hungry and want to eat in a sit in restaurant and get in and out fast. Overall a great service.

Friendly, great service ! What I ordered was the number 10 Sonoran flat enchilada and beans. Absolutely delicious ! I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant, if you're in Casa Grande this is the place to come too !

Far side - chicken fajitas, chips, 1/2 chimichanga & guacamole.

Inside is pretty fantastic, especially if you like a festive feel with lots of TVs to keep up with your sports while you dine. Our server was new, and said he couldn't make any recommendations on food because he hadn't tried anything. We chose combination plates to try different things. I'm always wary of Mexican restaurants that make you pay for chips and salsa. Yes, the salsa is made to order tableside, but to not even offer a red sauce to go with entrees!!! Oh you can buy some - made tableside. This is a big miss! Food presentation was nice, especially the small salad with radishes. You get 1 small cup of green sauce if you want sauce to go on your items. Didn't understand the meats all being done on the trompo. Usually pastor is done that way, but not asada etc .. The menu is attractive but seems disjointed - not a lot of description on dishes, and because of how it's presented, not a lot of variety. For example, a taco dorado is often a hard shell taco as opposed to soft or street taco style. Their dorado is a potato taco? Is it like a flauta? Took a while to get my beer, and my water glass was empty a very long time until I asked our server to fill it and for another green sauce. That never came until I reminded him when he brought our tab. He didn't check on us at all during our meal, but hung out in the bar area. That's right, he was new. Hope he improves because most guests won't dig his style of service.

Well, today happened to be Tuesday and outside of their door they had posted specials and one was for Taco Tuesday. Three tacos for about eleven dollars and some change. So I took advantage of that and ordered one adobada and two chicken tacos. The tacos were brought out with three bottles of salsa; one green, two reds at different spice levels. The tacos fell flat! The adobada was hard and crispy with little flavor. The meat was cut too small in my opinion, which may have resulted in its crispness. The two chicken tacos were bland, lacked flavor. I did like the fact they were cut thicker and were meaty and juicy. But it needed seasoning. The sauces also lacked flavor. None were spicy. Even the small bottled red salsa which I assumed was the spicier one wasn't spicy at all. After this experience, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon, but you'll never know! Like I said, I love Peruvian food; so maybe that's where their forte lies!

We got the taco combo plate and 3 single tacos. I chose the chicken, pork and steak and he got chicken, steak and birria ($1.25 extra). First off, these street tacos are packed with meat which was good to see. I love trying street tacos and I've tried many. For me, the flavor of the al pastor (pork) was the best of the meats. Second to that was the steak. The others didn't have a lot of noticeable flavor imo. I did slather each of them in the red and green salsas to add some moisture and added heat. As for the side of rice and beans, I liked the beans, they were cooked well and had good flavor. The rice we got was hard and seemed to have been in a warmer or something for too long since it was crispy and dry. This could have been a "one off" type situation. The interior dining area is small but that's to be expected for this type of taco shop. The staff there today seemed nice and genuinely care about their customers.
