I would say that this is the best Mexican food in Wilson over by Raleigh Rd. We're not from here and have not ventured out over to the other end, past downtown. We have tried Rancherita and another( forgot the name, will update). Rancherita is too modern for us. It's expensive and not enough seats. The food was mediocre. Mi Cabaña was really good. The portions were good size and did not disappoint. As Mexicans, we're always looking for some good salsa and aguas. We have had service in the restaurant and delivered. I would say, I would prefer it to be delivered. The locations parking is a little tricky to find a spot and to get in and out of when busy. The restaurant was okay, nothing really special. It was large, well lit, and clean. The server was friendly - although he would make comments like that's alot of food or things that were like - um...you gotta an issue with what we are ordering? We had a issue where the menu listed one thing and when we told him it was correct - he was going to explain to us how it was based on what he read on the print out in the back...Sir, doesn't matter what it says in the back when your menu clearly says something different that the customer taking to be truth. This means there's a disconnect somewhere in your system that needs correction - that's all. The pricing is fine for what you get. The portions are large. The restaurant is set up very typical. We were seated right away and the chips and salsa were okay. The food overall was good. I had the birria tacos and they were pretty tasty. The main issue we had was the service. The waitress took our order and brought our food but never really came back to check on us. Good food, some unique entrees on the menu set this restaurant apart from other Mexican places in the area. Salsa was fresh and a little spicy. Service was good, and our food was served fairly quickly. I ordered a vegetarian combo that included a burrito and enchilada, rice, and beans. The beans had a nice texture and flavor, but I thought the rice was bland and overcooked. Burrito was delicious with grilled mushrooms. Portions were large and prices were very reasonable. read more

Me and my boyfriend came in to eat I ordered the chile con queso as I looked it up online it said no meat but they put meat in it as a apologized and asked for queso and told them I was a vegetarian they then bring out the chorizo queso and I sent it back telling them I didn't want an appetizer anymore. The host came to the table and got defensive as I stated I made the mistake of ordering the chile con queso without knowing the meat was in it she cut me off saying yes it came with meat and I told her yes I didn't know it was my mistake once again and she kept talking over me saying the chile con queso didn't come with meat . I then said yes I'm aware now and then my food came. I was missing my rice as I got the vegetarian San something , I Told her I was missing my rice she said it didn't come with it but said she'd give me some so I asked for the menu and pointed it out to her she still didn't apologize after I pointed out on the menu it came with rice. They then went up to the front to talk about me . The service was horrible the food is alright. I'll never come back though and my mojito has stuff in the glass which I was afraid to send back as they already tried to make it seem like a problem . read more

Stopped in today for lunch. The staff was quick and friendly. My kids got a cheeseburger and a beef taco. My wife had the enchilada rancheros and I had the enchilada poblanos. The chips and salsa were good. Each person got their own dish to dip out of which is nice. My enchilada poblanos were tasty and the sauce had just enough spice. No rice or beans came with it but I was too full to eat those anyways. My wife liked her enchilada rancheros. More of a gringo sauce on those. Not much spiciness. read more

This is about as average of a Mexican place as you can get. The food was made the right way and it was good but not great. The best part was the food was secured for delivery! Each box saran wrapped to prevent tampering and opening. The bag was also stapled shut. Great job for keeping us healthy and safe. read more

Amazing customer service the most friendly and warm experience I've had in a long time . The margaritas are amazing still waiting on the food to come but I know I won't be disappointed because the start off is amazing from walk in to sit down . I would honestly rate this place a 3.5! It was a nice atmosphere. The bathroom was clean. I had a hard time getting into the booth so we had to slide the table back and forth to get situated. The waiter was friendly even though he didn't talk much. Food was delivered in good timing. We went on a Monday night and it was dead. Only two groups besides me and my husband. So their staff was kind of laying over the front counter not paying too much mind to customers. I got the Mi Cabaña Express! It's grilled ribeye steak, chicken, rice, beans and a salad in a small taco shell. But it also came with a slice of grilled cactus! I was surprised because I didn't read it on the menu and the waiter told me it's not listed on the menu. So okay, why did no one tell me? I tried it but didn't like it. Not was on my chicken and the chicken ended up tasting like it (yuck). So I would suggest not getting the cactus.. But the rest was great! Very authentic! We also got Chimi Cheesecake and its was GOOD! Highly recommend it! So all in all, a good trip! I would return again. read more

Went there a couple of days ago, the service was horrible. Waitress never refilled my drink after I asked twice, after the second time I asked she stated that they ran out but didn't offer another drink. Food took 45 minutes to come out. Once given food, wasn't given any utensils. Had to wait 5 minutes just to get utensils. While Covid is going on, they were no spaces in between tables. People were sitting beside and behind my table. In my original review, I stated that Mi Cabana needs to figure out a way to differentiate itself from the numerous Mexican restaurants in Wilson. Since that time, the group that I lunch with has determined that Mi Cabana has found its niche: the taco. The Mi Cabana tacos are some of the best I've ever eaten. Both the chicken and the beef tacos are equally amazing, although I'd give a small preference to the beef taco. Whatever it is the restaurant does to flavor the beef and chicken is perfect. While the initial draw that brought us back to Mi Cabana was the Taco Tuesday offer (Tacos for $1 each with the purchase of a drink), I'm fine with going any day of the week to pay full price. While Wilson has numerous Mexican fare options, Mi Cabana has won me over with its simple but amazing tacos. read more

The flavor and quality of the food just wasn't good. My poor waitress did provide much humor by consulting with the manager and remaining confused. Finally got a chance to try this place out. Let me tell you guys, it was good! I ordered 3 carne asada tacos, and they came with freshly pressed corn tortillas. I think I went to Heaven briefly. My husband ordered half veggie fajtas, and there was enough food for both of us, fresh veggies and guacamole. MMmmmmMMMm The food was hot, fresh, and the service was spot on. The spicy sauce is a little bit SPICY, but in small amounts it's pretty good. I even bought a take out cup of the sauce to take home. We will be back! read more

Haven't eaten my food yet but unless it is the best Mexican ever I probably won't be back. Got a to-go order which came to $32 for 2 meals. I received a tiny bag with about 12 chips and a tbl spoon of salsa. I asked if I could have another bag and was told it would be $2. Are chips and salsa now a precious commodity? Come on guys I just spent $32 on 2 meals and you can't give up a few chips? That alone was enough to keep me going to El Tap. Update: Food definitely not worth the price. Mi Cabana is by far the best Mexican Restaurant in Wilson. After having tried all the different Mexican restaurants around Wilson, I've found this one to be the best. The food is a lot better and much cheaper than El Tapatio. The food is always consistent at Mi Cabana (which is hard to find at most restaurants) and I haven't had one bad meal yet. Any day is good to eat there, but I've found that the best days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday when they have 99 cent enchiladas, 99 cent tacos, and 99 cent quesadillas respectively on those days. I will never go back to El Tapatio again even if the food is free. read more
