Really nice meal for a reasonable price. Jardin is the vegetarian option with sweet potato, beans, mushrooms, and other veggies. The three tacos come with beans (refried or black) and rice. The only bad part of the experience was the rice. It tasted fine, but I think it was way overcooked and mushy. We also ordered fried banana peppers as an appetizer, and they were so fun! Chips and salsa used to be $5, but now they offer it for free! Really good salsa. Our waitress was very kind and attentive, going the extra mile. I will return for vegetarian tacos! read more

I ordered the pork bowl. It was the worst ,tasteless thing I've ever paid for. No flavor at all. I added corn and ordered black beans. The beans were not on it. Maybe they should try adding something to the pork or cook it a different way. read more

For context, my partner is an amazing cook and while I don't expect the same quality as at home, I do hold high expectations of food. And for a place to rate, it has to have a decent ambience for the experience. A hole in the wall taco place is a different experience than a full service restaurant on Main St. The ambience here is ok (not great). The food here was honestly not that flavorful. A friend of ours works in Mayberry and asked us to meet at Mi Casa on Main for dinner. I'm so glad that he chose this spot. Upon arrival, I could tell the place was popular because they had a 45 minute- 1 hour wait for a table of 3. Luckily, there were seats at the bar so we sat there instead since we were hungry. The restaurant was nicely decorated inside and we enjoyed the fact that there were TVs at the bar to watch football. We started with chips, salsa, and queso. I loved how we each got the choice of our own salsa's spice level. I chose mild, my boyfriend chose hot, and his friend chose medium. I had the chance to try all of the above and they were all tasty. The queso was spot on as well. The bartender, Jacob, was so helpful and friendly. We chatted with him quite a bit after our meal. I chose the burrito bowl with steak and I added pickled jalapeños. My boyfriend ordered the special of the night which were Philly cheesesteak tacos and a chicken quesadilla. His friend ordered the vegetarian burrito bowl. We've been to Mi Casa about four times. Each time they have always claimed to have a 15 minute wait when they were open tables. We met some friends there this evening so we went in and we ordered some drinks a taco salad and some quesadillas. The quesadillas were OK., My "Stella" tasted like a "BUD" my second "Stella" tasted like another BUD., no bottles were offered... My wife's taco salad was anything but a taco salad... it looked like it came out of a bag from Food Lion! She ordered a Pinot Grigio and she got about a 6 ounce pour she paid $12 for it and then another $12 for a second pour... This is Mount Airy - not New York City! I grew up in the north and retired here in North Carolina - but with these prices... At some point, a restaurant becomes too pretentious and they lose customers - they've lost us - and we're locals. read more

Nice place with a bar in the back. The hostess greeted us and then spent 5 minutes looking around. A couple of tables were just leaving but many open tables since we were eating late. Finally a waitress came over and pointed to a table and we were seated. Started with chips and salsa verde. Salsa was good but chips were not the best. Order the traditional tacos. Three to the order so had the Tinga, chorizo, and pastor. Pastor was my favorite and chorizo was good but the Tinga had no favor. While there there was a commotion at the bar and a guest was asked to leave. Not the restaurant fault but kind of unfortunate. They have drinks specials at different times and I would recommend trying one of the specials. The restaurant is decorated in very cool and bright decor. It makes you feel good just walking in. For apps, the guacamole was better than the chorizo queso, the sopapillas surprise you with delicious carnitas inside, and the grilled corn nicely done. We split thee typed of tacos: grilled fish, grilled shrimp (which is different than the Camarones option listed on the menu), and the Cuban. First time visiting Mount Airy. Really (cool downtown area). Mexican always sounds good, so stopped in for an early dinner. Ordered the al pastor with refried beans and rice and a cerveza (actually dos cervezas). Also went with an appetizer of chips and salsa which is an extra charge (I hate that, but this is the second Mexican restaurant I've been to lately that charges for chips and salsa. What happened to complimentary ?). Food was just ok, but nothing special. Tacos were a bit dry and lacked pineapple and cilantro. No sauce either. Rice and beans were "Meh" at best. We were in mt airy on a Friday for one evening and after hitting the two local breweries we decided to stroll around the block and try this taco place. The place was a little too packed for during covid but thankfully they had a couple outside tables. Ordered the salsa, guacamole, and queso trio. My biggest complaint of the entire meal is the chips that came with the trio, I am pretty certain they came out of a bag and not fresh cooked. The queso was a little thin but had great flavor. The salad were decent as well as the guacamole. I ordered the Asian tacos and my wife got the chipotle tacos which were both delicious. The rice that came on the side was not good but the beans were tasty. I would definitely come back but would skip the chips and ask for another side in place of the rice. They had a nice little selection of craft beers and a full bar. Margaritas were tasty. read more

Went in between 4 - 5 pm on a Friday evening for a late lunch, and honestly I wasn't that impressed. I got a veggie quesadilla with black beans that came with a cup of rice and a side of pico and sour cream for $8 which for a dine-in restaurant I didn't think was bad. The quesadilla is made with mushrooms, sweet potato, zucchini, and carrots so obviously more Tex-Mex than traditional Mexican foods, but it turned out to be tasty though it could have used more seasoning. I think I got a good portion for the price honestly and if I go back it's entirely for the food. I was the only person in the restaurant for the majority of my meal, so service was obviously quick, but I did appreciate the attentiveness of the waitress. She was a bit wild for giving me the pitch for their 3 margarita flight special when I was dining alone at 4 pm, but still very professional overall. My one service complaint was being charged an extra dollar without warning for ordering onion on my quesadilla because if I had known asking for onion in a tex-mex restaurant would cost extra I would have 100% said no on principle. The atmosphere and overall management of the place was the biggest let down for me. The lighting is dim, the music is loud (and I mean above average loud) rock music, and all the staff (bar tender included) was just chilling in the back because the place was dead. They have TVs with one sports match on and also the news for some reason, and I just listened to blaring music and watched the weather on a Friday afternoon while the waitresses hung out. What really killed me though was I couldn't make this review at the restaurant because my phone service was essentially dead in there. When I asked for the wifi password because the network is visible I was told they 'don't 'give out the wifi password out for free'. Not every place does, but it absolutely didn't make me want to invite my friends to meet up with me there for drinks. I was prepared to get a drink from the bar and hang out longer but essentially no drink specials, no wifi, and the lack of atmosphere was definitely a deal breaker. Overall, I can see myself coming back to grab lunch occasionally, but I definitely recommend hitting up other bars on main and market street for a drink and to hang out. read more

Decor was a combination of modern art (great cacti on the walls) and old chandeliers. We started with a Bloody Mary - wow! Great flavor - some heat, but not too much. Husband ordered a salad with chicken- dressing on the side (thankfully). Veggies were fresh, colorful and crisp. I got 3 tacos- flavorful with chicken, beef, and chorizo. Very nice! Fresh-made corn tortillas for blackened shrimp tacos (pineapple salsa on them rocked) & tasty shredded chicken on the taco salad. Traditional lime Grand Rita for me & blackberry Grand Rita for my wife. Both made with Patron Silver & simple syrup. Three kinds of salsa- spicy, mild/medium, & verde all on the table for the nacho chips app. They (chips) were just Ok. Service was a little slow but, to be fair, it was close to a full house on a Saturday night. We'll go back to try some different dishes. read more

We ate here during their express lunch one day. It was absolutely delicious!! You do have to pay for chips and salsa ($3) which I thought was strange but the chips came out and our waiter brought out 4 different bottles of hot sauce for us to use. 1 mild, 1 medium, 1 hot and 1 verde. All 4 salsas were so good (and I'm picky about salsa). I had the $6 nachos with ground beef, refried beans, queso, pico and sour cream. One coworkers had a burrito and the other had the salad. I ordered a strawberry margarita....my friends ordered also ordered blackberry and mango. All were very tasty and buzz worthy!!!! As far as tacos go...I wanted to go the original route with cilantro and onions but decided to do something out of my element. I ordered Hawaiian chicken tacos. You get 3 tacos, rice, and beans. OMG SOO GOOD. My tacos were like bbq chicken w/ purple cabbage, and pineapples on top!!! Everyone at the table was soooo happy with their food that no one was talking! I like this place a lot. It's not your average Mexican restaurant with pushy service and a static menu. This place is different. It's small and eclectic inside with a nice bar. The menu is small and the food was awesome. It's mostly tacos and such and we found it affordable. Our bartender was awesome. The margarita's had a house made mixer and were excellent.
