This is the 2nd time we have tried this place since moving here. After the first time, which had lousy food, poor service, and a disrespectful waitress, we tried it again. We came with a church group so there was 12 of us. The restaurant would only take cash, (the credit machine was broken) so we had to go to the cash station. They were out of tea, sweet or plain. Out of sprite or 7up. Took forever to order, forever to get food...everyone got food but my husband and I because they gave it to the wrong person. So we waited while everyone else ate. After a while ours had finally come. We had ordered just an appetizer of a shredded chicken quesadilla. After a few bites it just didn't seem to taste right. I opened it up to find a small shrimp. Thank God I am not allergic. When we received the check there was a $2 extra charge for the shrimp. My husband went up to question this with the manager. He asked the waitress about it and she said I ordered the shrimp. Everyone at the table knew what I ordered because most of us had the same thing. He REFUSED to take off the $2. Now, we were not asking for it for free, just wanting to pay for what I ordered. Will NEVER go there again!! Neither will anyone at our table. Two others had errors on their bill. Upon arrival apparently either a kid or some one drop rice on the floor and no one pick it up Until I suppose as the manager start pointing at it to one of the employees. Second on a Mexican place have some Mexican music not back to back or endless CDs of Marc Anthony not Gilberto Santa Rosa. Doesn't get more puertorrican than that. Regarding the food is was good. Wife and I decided to try something new in the area and checked out this spot. From decor itself, it's a nice authentic looking Mexican resturant. The staff was extremely friendly and checked up on us often. We were served with complimentary chips and salsa. We both ordered fajitas, as we were told it was the most popular item there. I got chicken and my wife got steak. The food came out sizzling out and platter looked great. I would say the food wasnt exceptional, but it was good. The chicken couldve been seasoned a litttle better, but that may be a matter of personal taste preference. We both couldnt finish our meals, there was alot! The food was still good the next day for lunch. Overall, this place is a nice spot for a good Mexican meal, may be a little over priced for what i thought was average food, but the resturant itself was nice and the staff was great. read more

I have always had delicious food here, but the customer service not so much. I love their enchiladas, rice and refried beans. I see a lot of negative comments here about their salsa and also their queso but I happen to love both. The salsa is not spicy and their queso is regular white queso but so addicting. Tip: I do like to mix both. It's awesome. Wish I had one of these restaurants in Tampa. I do hope they work on training the servers more on nice customer service. read more

Wow it was good. The chips where fresh and warm. The staff is incredible and was very helpful and curious. We drink a lot at a meal and never wanted for a drink. It can be a little high in price. We were very excited to try this place. Friends that live in the area had recommended it. It was very enticing with the outdoor seating, but it was not what we had hoped it would be. There was a 40 min wait, which is totally understandable for a busy restaurant on the weekend but when you've got several tables open that's inexcusable. It was like they had one bus boy as dirty tables sat for as long as our wait was. Better management could have that place turning tables and making money; however the lack of decent food is not going to keep people coming back, so soon there will be no one to seat. I'm guessing it's so busy and have many return customers due to the lack of diversity in restaurants for that area. After several talks with the hostess regarding the available but dirty tables she finally got someone to clean one for us. Once we got to the table, our server came to take our drink order but that was after 15 mins. We were able to place our drink, appetizer and entree order all at once. When the drinks came, it was for half the table. We had to ask the manager for silverware and the rest of our drinks. He assured me "they were on the way". Then came the queso but still no drinks. I couldn't eat much because I had nothing to wash it down with. Luckily the drinks came too bad the cheese was cold and difficult to eat. The food was ok but nothing great. I could and have made better fajitas at home. The chicken for the fajitas didn't appear to be cooked at the restaurant more like reheated. They were heated as slices rather than sliced after cooking. My husband had the enchiladas and said there was nothing special about them either. When the sever came with the bill, she messed up the entire thing. We were very clear about who was on which bill at the time of her taking the order. Overall I would not recommend this place whatsoever. Do yourself a favor and just cook at home! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. Not only are they rude but unfortunately they don't have any type of ability to handle a lot of orders, Large crowds, social distancing, or any ability to be organized. I placed my order through GrubHub at 10 AM to get my order in advance to pick up after work at 6:45 PM. I arrived at 6:45 PM and the order was not ready and they had no explanation for when it would be ready and the hostess actually said to me "ma'am you can leave if you want to leave but we're busy". It's absolutely ridiculous that my order would not be ready at 6:45 PM when I ordered it at 10 in the morning. Not only that but they had everyone packed in The reception area like sardines and to be treated rudely by the hostess telling me if I wanna leave I can leave is unacceptable. Spent some family dinners of 8 to10 participants attending those dinners and also only 2to4 in a group... Service is always Excellent with excellent atmosphere... Most of family have their favorites when ordering. My favorite is the wet burrito with queso on top and no rice please extra beans either in or on the side black beans are delicious on the side plus a tall Corona it's on tap and after I finished enjoying it all it's time to go home and take a nap.... This cute restaurant in Riverview has some good carne guisada. The greater was able to seat me pretty quickly and the waitress Casey was on point. She brought me an horchata and it was not gritty and very tasty. The guisada was tender and had enough sauce to mix withe fresh side salad and Mexican rice. First, I was skeptical due to the reviews on here, but i really wanted mexican. I was also very shocked at the price, for just a chicken fajita, pick up order. I shrugged it off thinking it would be a large amount of food. I got there and waited at the bar to pick up my order, for 8 Minutes with my food in front of me ready to go, watching it get cold as the waitresses all passed by me acting like I was not there. I get back home, open the bag, and there were no tortilla's, what kind of chicken fajita comes with no tortilla's. I noticed the amount of food was very small. I asked for extra salsa, and they gave me chips and salsa, an additional $4. The chips tasted like they were at least a day old. I will NEVER be giving this place another dime. I will continue and drive 40 minutes south for real Mexican at Mi Pueblo's in Sarasota. lazy staff!!!! We had Luisa and my partner and I went in to the restaurant at about 730. Hostess was unpleasant and darn near chastised us for considering seating ourselves. We were eventually seated and about 15 mins of waiting at our seats still no contact by server. I had to signal to many that passed us for service. It was NOT BUSY! Finally a Luisa server came to us. I lived in Mexico City for 8 years and I have a deep love and appreciation for all things Mexican. That said, this is a good restaurant if you're looking for Tex-Mex (not authentic Mexican) food. I ordered the enchiladas and my wife ordered the chile relleno. Both were tasty, and if you've never had real deal Mexican food (you know...from small restaurants in Ruskin or Wimauma where a sign could read 'no Espanol, no servicio' ) you would find food similar to other Tex Mex fares in the Brandon area. In conclusion, if you're looking for food that meets the typical gringo expectations without too much of a cultural shock, visit Mi Casa. I have been here a few times with my family when I'm visiting them in Riverview - it seems to be getting busier every time I visit. There was a 45 minute wait last night for dinner - so you may want to call ahead and plan accordingly. The inside of the restaurant is colorful and is like a brighter version of Vallarta's Mexican Restaurant. The menu has a number of options from Tex-Mex and American to full-on Mexican options. I normally go with the enchiladas, which are a solid pick - but decided I was in the mood for something different last night and ordered the Steak Ranchero which is a ribeye steak with ranchero sauce and cheese, accompanied by a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, guacamole, salad, tortillas, and cheese. The steak was incredible - I have to say it was well above my expectations and filled with sabor! The rice and beans are good, but I prefer refried black beans over brown. The horchata here is pretty good, but I prefer their Jarritos Mexican Soda drinks. Our waitress, Julie, really made the experience though. Extremely attentive and helpful. My Mom was coming down with some kind of cold and the waitress was kind enough to move us inside and to bring my Mom a glass of hot water with lemons to help soothe her throat. Service was awesome. What happened since the first time I went there? The second time around they took too long when there was hardly anyone there and our waitress was like a zombie. She only said what she had to, "What do you want?", was very cold as a person. It's like she hated her job and people and damned if anyone was going to get a smile out of her. A good description would be it was like a soft taco compared to a crunchy one and the hamburger inside was somewhat bland as well. My hubbie and I lived in the Apollo Beach before there were hardly any restaurants, so when we finally got a Mexican restaurant (our fave cuisine), we were thrilled! Service: Our first experience was horrible and made us not want to return. If this was the case w/ you as well, I'd encourage you to give them another try. That being said, the Quesadillas and the Vegetarian Combo (Bean Burrito and Bean Tostada were average at best. Drinks: This is the best part, they don't have Happy Hour...they have Happy Day. Good for what it is This is your typical Tex-Mex place. First, let's get one thing straight: It's not Mexican. Mexicans don't eat this. If you go to Mexico City and order a chimichanga, they'll look at you and ask you what in the sam houston is a chimichanga. It's Tex-Mex. Yeah, they eat tacos in Mexico, but they're not like the kind you get at an American Tex-Mex joint. This is typical of American Tex-Mex places. It has the decorations, the music, the bathrooms are labeled "Caballeros" and "Damas". It has the typical Tex-Mex menu. You know it is. I don't need to tell you. The service was good. The waiter was a very friendly guy. He kept bringing us chips and salsa. When there was too much tequila in the margarita for Precious, he happily brought it back and watered it down. He was a very endearing guy. The food was above average for a Tex-Mex place. A lot of places like this cook the actual food in the morning and then leave it heating all day. The food here seemed to be a little fresher. Precious got some tilapia. It was good. I got a chimichanga with frijoles fritos and arroz. It was pretty good. My husband and I love Mexican food and this place is within a 5 minute drive so we've been wanting to check it out since we moved to the area. My husband got black beans and those were not, needed more seasoning, rather bland. As with many Mexican restaurants chips and salsa come included once you sit. Service wise, she was really nice. Didn't mind that we asked to sit outside because it wasn't crazy hot out. She came when needed and made sure we always had water. As we were getting ready to leave, my husband and I decided to ask about happy hour so that we can try the restaurant again.
