I was blown away by how delicious the food was here. The birria was insane. The rice was perfectly cooked and lightly flavoured. The shrimp tacos were great too. I've never like Guac; My god it was delicious!!! Chips and salsa pre food? NICE. salsa was a bit runny, but it was free and delicious anyway. Our server was a young man with great manners. This place is down past McDougal and while walking it doesn't seem like a good area but keep walking a bit further away from Ouellette street. Pupusas with bean, cheese and chicharron, would have liked some other meat or veggie options. We were desperate to find a place open and that popped up for us on Yelp as the internet wasn't working well over the border on Yelp. We both ended up ordering shredded chicken tacos, my husband wanted grilled chicken tacos but it wasn't available. The tacos were okay, filled with lots of shredded chicken. The rice is super plain and bland, but the refried beans are not bad at all. The bartender was our waitress, friendly person. Wasn't busy so she was doing it all. The salsa is fresh and tasty. The chips aren't bad but extreme crunchy, almost too much that it feels rock hard. The only hot sauce on the table is the Tapatio hot sauce. The bill total was C$35.04. They accept USD but it's on par, they won't charge based on the exchange rate which is C$1.31 for every $1USD today. They only accept cash or debit here! read more

worst experience ever, I ordered a Carne Asada I told them well done, and the meat was raw the chips I ordered looked like they'ved had them there for more than a week and I was over charged. Also the waiter was not nice at all. It was a waist of money. I regret ever stepping there. This place popped up while I was looking for a Mexican restaurant in Windsor. Had some good reviews and the food looked familiar to what I'm used to in the States, so I checked it out. The waitress brought out complimentary chips and salsa (they're called nachos here) and water. The chips were really crunchy...to the point where you can barely bite into them, but the salsa was pretty good. I ordered a quesadilla appetizer and cheese enchiladas.The quesadillas here are not your traditional quesadillas....they are more like empanadas. The description was given on the menu, so I wasn't surprised when they came out. The quesadilla came with meat, but she the waitress informed me that I could get them no meat. They were just okay. The peppers inside tasted raw and they were a little on the dry side. The cheese enchiladas looked good, but the sauce on them were just okay as well. I'm used to enchiladas being served in corn tortillas, but these appeared to be wrapped in flour tortillas that were really doughy. They almost tasted soggy. I may be a little biased because I'm used to Mexican restaurants in the States, but I think the food that I had from here was just lacking in flavor. read more

Wow. Was so looking forward to a nice pupusa to take the edge of a muggy afternoon. In short, I never got the chance because the dude working here felt his phone call was more important than the customer in front of him. I politely waited, then walked to the front door and checked the opening hours to confirm and respectfully asked if he was closed. He paused his conversation to say "just a minute" ... Huh?? I did give him the benefit of the doubt, though I didn't hear anything on his end of the call that warranted making a customer wait. I waited a while longer then left. What an utter disappointment. These guys have a Groupon right now and I was the designated taster for my group of friends to see if it was worth buying. Now we'll never know. Sad. read more

Came here on taco Tuesday to try out their tacos. The chips and salsa were ok but the salsa wasn't my favorite. I like mine a bit spicier. The decor inside is cute and the place wasn't super busy around lunch. Probably a good thing since only one waitress was working. I had the chicken and pork tacos. They're pretty small in size so I was glad I had 3 of them. Loved the shells they came in and they're topped with cilantro and red onions. I opted for mine without onions. The chicken was nice and flavorful with the right amount of spice. By far my favorite of the two flavors. The pork seemed pretty flavorless. Didn't seem like their were many spices in it. Overall they were pretty tasty for the price and I'd return on a taco Tuesday where they're discounted and get the chicken tacos again. read more

I came here for lunch! I was planning to come here during Eat Your City week but it fell through so here I am! Customer service was very friendly and prompt. I was not rushed. Water was given and after my order, my waitress came back with a basket of nachos and salsa. Nachos are generic in taste and I personally don't like their salsa. It's pretty watery, I'd say like 80%. There's not much flavour. I was the only customer so food was prompt which was nice! I had three individual tacos each with different meats. I had the carnitas (pulled pork), spicy chicken, and barbacoa (pulled beef). It's served with salsa, salsa verde (my preference), and a lime! A great thing about their tacos is that it's served on warm, doubled soft corn tortillas and topped with red onions and cilantro. No unnecessary cheese! (I don't like cheese) I'd rank them from eh to good as follows: pork, chicken, beef. The carnitas was very dry for me so I poured on salsa verde. The chicken did a little better but it still needed salsa verde. The barbacoa was delicious! Flavourful and did not need any sauces! I am pleased that this meal had me full! I'd definitely come back to try their barbacoa tacos again! I loooove their doubled soft corn tortillas! read more

The menu is solid, but a little limited. Jesse had the beef taco dinner. They looked delicious - shredded beef not ground & it was juicy, but he thought greasy. I tasted it and it was good. He filled up on chips & salsa. The chips were ok but the salsa was great & seemed fresh and made Inhouse. I had the pupusas which you have to order individually. I got two & they come with a coleslaw & tomato sauce. They were great - they're crispy on the outside and the filling is flavoured, soft and chewy! I had sides of beans & rice & they're decent as rice & beans can be. Service was great for us, friendly waiter asked about refills and quite quick with the food. They've taken effort to decorate now, tables with matching chairs. Quite open space & everything was neatened up and clean. Bathroom was redone & fresher & clean. I will preface this review by stating that we in Windsor are spoiled to live across from Mexican town in Detroit. We have all grown up eating over there, and it is always cheap, fast, and delicious! Stopped in later on one evening, and the place was quite packed, with two big groups. We got our complimentary nachos, and margaritas quite quickly (again, spoiled in Detroit as they come out piping hot and crispy). The nachos were ok, authentic salsa, ordered guac which was standard. Margaritas were so "limey" couldn't quite tell if there was any tequila in them... To be fair, our waitress was cashing out a large group, but she didn't check with us or take our order for ages. She asked if we were going to order anything else? I should've taken that as our cue to leave! Another waitress could have easily offered to help, but cleaned instead. We ordered two more margaritas, the combo platter (taco, quesadilla, flautas w/ chicken), and since it seemed to be El Salvadorian, we tried one papusa as well. When the food, and our second margarita finally arrived, I was now full, and less than impressed. The combo platter was meh really, pretty doughy quesadilla, and oddly they use feta cheese as topping, would much prefer fresh Mexican cheese as the food was already salty. The pupusa was ok, a bit greasy and hard. Again having been spoiled before at an El Salvadorian church papusa cookout, I had high hopes! I would honestly give the food a 3/5, but 4 margaritas cost like 28 bucks which is nuts. Bill came to $50. Could have crossed bridge, ordered more margaritas, got enough food to eat well and feed Detroit homeless for that money. Lesson learned! read more

This is me and my boyfriends favorite spot ! We go at least once every couple months and have tried a variety of things and have not had one problem yet. Very laid back atmosphere. Perfect for drinking, on weekends they have events, or good for a date night even. The portions are huge, has lots of flavor, and at an awesome price! My favourite is the burrito platter as it has tons of flavor. They specialize in pupusas, and the flaming cheese dish was good as an appetizer as well. Sometimes the margaritas are a hit and miss dependent on who makes them. Overall, great food, atmosphere, and prices. The only thing I would suggest working on is the enthusiasm in the restaurant owner. We are regulars and hardly ever get greeted. Besides that awesome homemade meal place :) read more

Ordered the Chile Relleno for dinner. Waitress warned me that it is hard for the chef to control the spiciness of the pepper. It had some heat to it, but each table has its own bottle of hot sauce to make things right. Planting could use some work. Pepper + pull pork + cheese + rice has a great texture. Fried beans were a bit salty. The portion was huge. Overall, it was delicious. Salsa & chips are authentic. The spice was just right. Waitress was friendly. Atmosphere was pleasant. This restaurant is beautifully decorated, has a great atmosphere, and it has wifi. It is within walking distance from the Tunnel. The food was so delicious with great variety and portion size. My daughter said the nachos were about the best she had ever had which is saying a lot because she lived in Mexican neighborhoods in Chicago and the food was spectacular there. My son said he was really impressed with the quality of the food we ordered and we enjoyed everything we ordered and said he hadn't had such a good meal in a long time. The beans were delicious having a special homey flavor like your grandmother would make with love, yum! We had tacos, flautas, enchiladas, chips and salsa, guacamole, and plantains. The plantains were scrumptious! They were sliced long either baked or broiled (not deep fried) and they came with a sauce on the side. The waitress was friendly and attentive and we felt relaxed. Coming from California where the Mexican food is much different I did enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The waiter was very pleasant and their margarita was one of the best I ever have had. though kind of pricy. The food was good however I would never order their version of an enchilada again as it had no sauce and had been browned under a broiler. Asked for hot sauce and the waitress never came back with it, (our meal was finished before she even remembered) she never even came to ask how our meal was. I don't know where I stand with this place. As a bigger set fella, I enjoy a lot of different foods. This menu looks amazing but realistically only consists of the same three types of meat, and they top ever plate with tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream. Pretty simple and straight up place. The waitress who helped us wasn't very welcoming or helpful. It took us 45 mins to get even the appetizers, and then an additional 10 mins for our mains. Overall, I wouldn't suggest it.
