I heard great things about the chicken. We ordered the family special which included a whole rotisserie chicken, 3 sides, sauces and 4 canned pop for $35.99. We went with rice, black beans and fried plantains as our sides. The food was piping hot after the 15min ride home. The chicken had a great flavor, the seasoning is unique and delicious. The rice was good, the black beans were a bit on the bland side and pretty firm in texture. We liked the 2 sauces and mild and a spicy sauce. The fried plantains were good, thicker slices than I've ever had before. I would like to come back and try some other items on the menu, pupusa sounds good to me. Campestre Chicken is a fantastic restaurant known for their Peruvian rotisserie chicken. I usually place my order online and walk in for a quick pickup. I don't usually see too many customers eating in, so I assume it's mostly a takeout destination. On my last visit I got: Family Special ($31.99) - This includes a whole chicken, 3 sides, 4 drinks, and 4 of each red and green sauce. The chicken has nice roasted skin crust and the meat had great flavor. As soon as it comes out, and whenever you open the box, the fragrant scent of the spices hits your nose. I admit that the chicken was perhaps a bit on the dry side in some parts, but the flavor profile and heaping the green/red sauce on top made up for that. The green garlic and cilantro sauce is super fresh and goes great with the chicken. The red sauce is quite a bit spicier, but has a similar flavor profile. Both are delicious. For the sides, we got the black beans, rice and plantains. The black beans are pretty standard, quite al dente, and salted a bit too much - really the only disappointment in this meal. The rice is a nice side, filled with carrot, green beans, and corn. The plantains have a good fry on them and are well drained and not too oily. I've never experienced food quite like the chicken at Campestre. This is what those miserable rotisserie chickens at the grocery store wish they could be. Full of flavor, expertly roasted with skin as crispy as the meat is tender. Definitely don't sleep on this place. It's about to be a downriver staple. I have not one complaint about the quality of the food. So far we have tried the following: Chicken (duh): A+ awesome, couldn't be better Plantains: I used to hate plantains, I love these Papusas: very tasty, I could make a meal of 2-3 Quesadilla: delicious, gooey, and not overstuffed Sub: so good, but deffo a treat as it's a bit heavy Yucca: crispy, but I'm not obsessed with them Fries: standard, well prepared, basic Salad: fresh, but nothing special, take it or leave it We've had take out a few times and we've eaten in the small dining area once and each experience was fantastic. The staff are all smiles and everything tasted great. My only gripe would be related to the dining area. The staff are kept very busy behind the counter so the tables don't get attended to as quickly between diners as they could be. I am delighted that we have another Peruvian inspired restaurant in the metro Detroit area. This one is a bit unique though, as it offers also Mexican and some El Salvadorian influence as well. The star of the menu is the Peruvian chicken, which is well balanced and quite juicy. The green sauce is what you want to eat it with, so make sure you ask for extra on the side. For variety we ordered some plantains, mixed veggies, rice and cole slaw. For the sake of curiousity I ordered a bean and cheese pupusa from the appetizer menu. Everything we ordered was delicious and satisfying, although I will admit not everything was spectacular (the plantains were a little dry and the pupusa was not the best I've ever had). And a large portion at that. And the burrito... Was HUGE and delicious. My husband was intrigued by the combination of meats, and the addition of beans and rice. It was almost too big to fit in a mouth. Rice was delicious, beans were good and plenty of meat and shrimp ratio to filler. Almost a bit pricey for an Ala Carte item but worth it given the size and fillings. Second trip, We decided on the Family Meal which comes with a Whole Chicken, Salsas and two sides. We of course chose plantains and also yucca. It was a surprise that they were yucca fries, for some reason I expected boiled yucca. But it was delicious and the plantains just as delicious as before. The two salsas, green and red are garlicky and creamy and one slightly spicier than the other. For $20 it was a winner. This place is terrible! It was my first time coming here and everything was HORRIBLE. We ordered yesterday a roasted chicken and the inside was all pink and gross. But we gave it a try to try it out and omg it tasted disgusting! The owner did tell his father to calm down, but did nothing to help the situation either way, didn't even offer me credit not that I would have wanted it what it the moral of the point, they are RUDE as fuck and their chicken made me sick so obviously I didn't want the chicken again! Then they told me if I felt sick to go to the hospital?? We stopped in Saturday evening at around 7pm or so to check it out and boy we're so glad we did...what a delicious, fresh, fantastic meal we had. The young lady that took our order was very friendly & we chatted it up while I believe her father, the cook prepared our orders. We did carry out but there are tables to dine in. The aroma in the car on the way home was a sure sign we were in for a treat, it really was awesome...We had fajita something, chicken,beef,shrimp & veggies, rice & I really can't recall I was to busy inhaling the stuff...man was it good!!!
