Pupusería Y Restaurante Salvadoreño is an affordable and authentic spot. To start, my wife and I…read moreordered a mango smoothie. I don't particularly care for anything mango flavored, but this had just the right amount of mango, and wasn't overly sweet, either. As for our food, we ordered fried plantains, 2 pork tamales, and 3 pupusas (flounder, chicken, and pork). The fried plantains came with beans and sour cream. The plantains were enjoyable. The beans were mashed so finely, I couldn't help but use them as a dip for the plantains. The pork tamales came in banana leaves, as Salvadoran tamales typically do. The tamales weren't as firm as I wound've liked, and could've used more pork, as well. All 3 of the pupusas included cheese. Of the 3, the pork was my favorite. The pork also included cilantro, which added a flavor the other 2 pupusas lacked. My second favorite was the chicken, which also included squash. Lastly, the flounder was my least favorite, but was still worth trying. In a nutshell, Pupusería Y Restaurante Salvadoreño was worth checking, and somewhere I can see myself returning to.

There may just be a language barrier between the folks who work there and answer the phones. My biggest issue was biting into the pupusa and biting down on chicken bones. It immediately killed my appetite and I won't be returning. Sadly I threw away the rest of the food cuz I just couldn't stomach it.
