a basket of chips and salsa

There's no wait for a table. It's Taco Tuesday and it's Valentine's Day. It was too long of a wait at our usual Mi Pueblo down the road. We were seated about 5 minutes after arrival. Nice to see they have my flautas, MP doesn't have them anymore. We asked for spicy salsa, since the mild is what comes out for starters with the chips. The spicy salsa doesn't have a lot of flavor, mostly heat. We mixed the mild and spicy and it has a bit more flavor. The corn chips aren't too bad, basket is a decently sized, but they don't fill it much. We didn't any more chips and only our meal. I am watching and trying to get the attention of the hai test bringing corn chips to many other tables but ours. :/ Music is good, just a tad loud is all. An oldie I used to listen to back a while ago was playing, Labios Compartido by Mana. Took a little while for our waitress to come out our table to take our order. Ordered grilled chicken dinner tacos, all beans, no cheese, guacamole and chicken flautas with beans only. Not pleased with the lack luster service so far. I feel like we have been forgotten. It's been over 10 minutes and we don't have more chips and have no guacamole in front of us. This place is not good. The service beginning to end is slow and bad. The place is unbelievably loud. We waited for over 15 minutes for more chips or guacamole, nothing. We left, hungry. Forget this place. Unreal.

I love this place. The food and service were fantastic. Our waitress was the sweetest lady and checked on us often. The food came out SO fast. The chips to start were authentic and yummy salsa. The green sauce that came with the tacos was amazing. The vibe inside is nice and authentic feeling. It is reasonably priced but not quiet as inexpensive as some other spots in Mexicantown, especially the drinks.

A great spot for a break from traditional American breakfast. The food is great, the environment is warm and friendly. If it's warm outside there is outside seating. The parking is gated and safe. This is definitely an awesome spot for the family. There are plenty of menu options to keep everyone in the family Happy! We got the huevos rancheros and the chillaquilles. I can't say anything bad about either dish they were both great. The charro beans are great, I got an horchata that was tasty. If you go for dinner make sure to try one of their signature drinks! Again, you can't go wrong eating here weather it is breakfast, lunch or dinner! Small parties or big it doesn't matter you will be accommodated and the wait time has never been too long!

When I walked in I asked to sit by a plug and they accommodated to that need. Instantly got chips and salsa once we sat down, and we also ordered guacamole with lime and radishes. Add a little salt to the guacamole and it's sooo good . They have a HUGE variety of Mexican dishes and cuisines to get but I was craving tacos. I ordered the taco dinner with birria, chicken and chorizo taco. It also came with consomé, rice and beans, lettuce and tomatoes. I enjoyed the tacos and the corn tortillas were pretty good they weren't too flimsy or too like tough. Each taco was very flavorful and so was the consome. My cousins didn't enjoy her chicken tacos and she tried to take them back. The manager did not allow her to take it back. And she wouldn't let her order something new to replace the food. It was either order something new AND still pay for the chicken tacos or throw them away and don't order anything. We also ordered a peach and a mango margarita which was pretty good, wish it was a little bit stronger.

Visited this restaurant for the first time with my husband and daughter. We went on a Friday evening and it wasn't crowded but as we get ready to leave to started to pick up. We were seated quickly and our server came so fast we didn't have time to look over the menu but it was ok. We ordered some drinks and they us chips and salsa...the salsa was super cold! I know some people like it cold but I like mines either room temperature or with a little warmth to it. After reviewing the very large menu(which is primarily in Spanish with a few English words and little pictures) we all finally decided on what we wanted. We got some queso flamedo and fresh quac and they both were good. My husband got the fajitas, my daughter got steak and shrimp tacos and I got a variety of items because I wanted to try them. I got a beef burrito, a chicken enchilada and shrimp tacos. Everything was good except my enchilada and burrito, they were both bland in taste. The tacos were delicious!! I also had to ask for an additional shot of tequila for mt margarita because it taste like nothing but juice. I would go back because for the tacos and the service was good and quick.

Stopped in for tacos at lunch and the service was great! Tacos were loaded with lots of meat and the homemade complementary salsa was very fresh. My only complaint was about the creamy green salsa, it's normally my favorite at Mexican restaurants but here it tasted like mayonnaise.

Was downtown for the day and decided to try out this restaurant for some quick tacos. We ordered 6 tacos to go and when we got home we realized they forgot to give us 2 tacos. We called to see if we could get our money back for the tacos. They replied with "we can put your name down for 2 free ones when you come back?" We won't be back. They also offered us to take it off our card but we would have to drive back there. We live far from the restaurant, so that's not worth my time. Not only did they forget the two tacos, the tacos we received look like this.

Super delicious from the guacamole to even the crispy French fries. Best Mexican in the D!

    Shrimp and chicken fajitas

Wanted Mexican and I was downtown and this was one of the few restaurants open late down in SW Detroit. I ordered the chicken and shrimp fajitas and the order was big and tasty! Had enough leftovers for another meal or so. Their salsas and chips were really good too. (Ate more chips than I should've). Service could have been a bit better, but it was the end of the night so I'm not going to ding them for that. Was here about 2 years ago and had their tacos and I remembered that they were pretty good.

Make sure you make reservations, you're gonna need them. The vibes inside are beautiful, it's dark with some great earthy decor as their ambience. They have a gorgeous bar that you can glance at, and get very excited because their drinks are divine. The weight staff is super friendly, very efficient and very attentive. We started with the Agua Chile - kind of a funner take on your standard ceviche with some gorgeous shrimp and that sauce is drinkable. Esquites were extra fun with asparagus and corn, so it gave some extra dimension to the vegetable bites and different textures as we kind of bid into it and as you can see in the picture just covered in cheese extremely good. I have to say the Tetela was one of my favorite bites, just the attention to detail on the brazing of the carrot with the lovely tortilla/masa combination, truly worth it. We also got the fish with the two different salsas and that was such a divine bite and it made it more exciting that you were essentially getting a two and one. The fish was extremely flaky, but with a stunning grilled to it. Overall amazing. The deserts were both delicious but I would go back for the Pan De Elote everytime... I mean this is how corn should be spotlighted and celebrated. It was a gorgeous meal, with flavors that make my tastebuds dance with every bite. Vecino is here to stay!

The food here is amazing. The birria tacos were packed with flavor, and at $2.50 each, they're an unbeatable deal. But the real star for me was the burrito--this thing had to weigh at least a pound!
