There's no wait for a table. It's Taco Tuesday and it's Valentine's Day. It was too long of a wait at our usual Mi Pueblo down the road. We were seated about 5 minutes after arrival. Nice to see they have my flautas, MP doesn't have them anymore. We asked for spicy salsa, since the mild is what comes out for starters with the chips. The spicy salsa doesn't have a lot of flavor, mostly heat. We mixed the mild and spicy and it has a bit more flavor. The corn chips aren't too bad, basket is a decently sized, but they don't fill it much. We didn't any more chips and only our meal. I am watching and trying to get the attention of the hai test bringing corn chips to many other tables but ours. :/ Music is good, just a tad loud is all. An oldie I used to listen to back a while ago was playing, Labios Compartido by Mana. Took a little while for our waitress to come out our table to take our order. Ordered grilled chicken dinner tacos, all beans, no cheese, guacamole and chicken flautas with beans only. Not pleased with the lack luster service so far. I feel like we have been forgotten. It's been over 10 minutes and we don't have more chips and have no guacamole in front of us. This place is not good. The service beginning to end is slow and bad. The place is unbelievably loud. I love this place. The food and service were fantastic. Our waitress was the sweetest lady and checked on us often. The food came out SO fast. The chips to start were authentic and yummy salsa. The green sauce that came with the tacos was amazing. The vibe inside is nice and authentic feeling. A great spot for a break from traditional American breakfast. The food is great, the environment is warm and friendly. If it's warm outside there is outside seating. The parking is gated and safe. This is definitely an awesome spot for the family. There are plenty of menu options to keep everyone in the family Happy! We got the huevos rancheros and the chillaquilles. I can't say anything bad about either dish they were both great. The charro beans are great, I got an horchata that was tasty. If you go for dinner make sure to try one of their signature drinks! Again, you can't go wrong eating here weather it is breakfast, lunch or dinner! Small parties or big it doesn't matter you will be accommodated and the wait time has never been too long! read more

When I walked in I asked to sit by a plug and they accommodated to that need. Instantly got chips and salsa once we sat down, and we also ordered guacamole with lime and radishes. Add a little salt to the guacamole and it's sooo good . They have a HUGE variety of Mexican dishes and cuisines to get but I was craving tacos. I ordered the taco dinner with birria, chicken and chorizo taco. It also came with consomé, rice and beans, lettuce and tomatoes. I enjoyed the tacos and the corn tortillas were pretty good they weren't too flimsy or too like tough. Each taco was very flavorful and so was the consome. My cousins didn't enjoy her chicken tacos and she tried to take them back. The manager did not allow her to take it back. And she wouldn't let her order something new to replace the food. It was either order something new AND still pay for the chicken tacos or throw them away and don't order anything. My friends found this place on a whim. It looked very pretty on the inside. The menu is extensive, there are pages and pages of options. I opted for the combination plate. It was good, nothing special. The peach margarita was delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals!! Visited this restaurant for the first time with my husband and daughter. We went on a Friday evening and it wasn't crowded but as we get ready to leave to started to pick up. We were seated quickly and our server came so fast we didn't have time to look over the menu but it was ok. We ordered some drinks and they us chips and salsa...the salsa was super cold! I know some people like it cold but I like mines either room temperature or with a little warmth to it. After reviewing the very large menu(which is primarily in Spanish with a few English words and little pictures) we all finally decided on what we wanted. We got some queso flamedo and fresh quac and they both were good. My husband got the fajitas, my daughter got steak and shrimp tacos and I got a variety of items because I wanted to try them. I got a beef burrito, a chicken enchilada and shrimp tacos. Everything was good except my enchilada and burrito, they were both bland in taste. The tacos were delicious!! Searched for a Mexican restaurant on google and found this gem. The reviews were good and the menu looked like I could fine something to try. We hadn't eaten all day as we drove from Cincinnati to Detroit. Upon arrival we were seated right away and our drink order was taken. We ordered the mango and hibiscus margaritas. They were phenomenal. My boyfriend ordered the cheese enchiladas, which he devoured. They must have been delicious. My shrimp fajitas had the some of the freshest shrimp I have ever had. I ate them all. We split two fish tacos. They arrived hot and plentiful. They were piled high with onions and cilantro. They could have used some lime but that didn't stop them from being hot and fresh as if we ate them straight from the kitchen. It would have been nice to have been checked on more but he was busy and I won't let that change the amazing food. read more

I ordered fajitas trio with flour tortillas and the waitress brought me corn tortillas, I asked for cheese on my fajitas and instead of putting it on my fajitas they brought melted cheese on a plate which took awhile so now my fajitas are cold. Then I reminded her about the flour tortillas and that takes awhile so my food is colder. The waitress was very rude when speaking to me. I told them I didn't want the food after all the unpleasantness and she refused to give me new food or take it off the bill. Never will I return to this horrible restaurant. read more

Rating: 3.75/5 Even at DMV, I talk about food... While I was at the DMV, my clerk and I started talking and she suggested this new place that's more authentic than my current go-to Mexican place. After being seated, I was quickly served a basket of crispy chips and 3 different kinds of salsa w lemons. Before long, I had eaten half the basket... To my pleasant surprise, they had guisada, a stewed beef dish I had discovered and subsequently fallen in love with in San Antonio, TX. Another item that piqued my interest was this queso/chorizo/ranchero mixture served w tortilla. What always surprises me when I go to a Mexican restaurant is how much food you get for the price. For $15, I got incredulous amount of food. Enough to have leftovers for a couple days. Queso/chorizo mixture was cheesy and savory with a nice zing. It was especially delicious w the tortilla and I made myself some bomb ass tacos. Tortillas, unfortunately, tasted a bit stale and was harder than they should be. What I was most excited for was the guisada. Unfortunately, it was nothing like the one I had in San Antonio. The meat wasn't as chunky, tender, and the sauce was completely different. While my first one was almost gravy-like, their sauce was more oily and zingy. I preferred the former. Currently, I prefer Mi Pueblo. But, this restaurant has much more variety of tacos than Mi Pueblo, some combinations I've never seen anywhere. Next time I'm craving some tacos, and I will come try their goat, chorizo/egg, and pork rind tacos. read more

Omg I came here for the first time last night and I can't wait to go back! The food was amazing. I had a frozen margarita 10/10 and my boyfriend got una michelada which even I thought was good and I'm not a fan of micheladas. The tacos are $2.50 which isn't bad and they're pretty small but I got full off 4. The chips and salsa are so good. The salsa has a particular taste that I really enjoyed and the chips were fresh made. Service was good. It was very busy so a couple mistakes were made but understandable. We were also seated pretty quickly for it being that busy so I can't complain. I ordered a birria taco with cheese, a shrimp taco, and chorizo taco but I was given only the chorizo and birria taco with no cheese and they looked like they were just thrown on the plate (see picture). I had it sent back and got an extra shrimp taco with my birria taco so that was a plus! And I didn't even wait 5 minutes to receive my new plate. We ordered two more birria tacos because we had a lot of consomé left over and didn't want to waste it, but the waitress brought us ANOTHER cup of consomé so we felt really bad that we had to let it go to waste. I went here today on my way home from the airport after reading an article that stated that they have the best tacos. I agree, they were pretty good. I got the Los Altos combination platter which also came with a chicken flauta, enchilada, bean tostada, and 2 tacos. The platter is serviced with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole spread over the food on the platter so just be aware if you dont care for any of that! I didnt remember the menu saying it but I personally didnt mind. There are free refills on their coca cola products. I'm not sure about any of the other drinks. They also bring to the table chips and three types of salsa! Very tasty! Stop by here for some great Mexican food if you're in the area! read more

I still drank it but it wasn't one of my favorites. Tacos are $1.25/each for 3+ tacos, so that's a plus. - Carne asada was like any other place I've tried in Detroit - Al pastor was extra fatty, as in I might have only eaten fat - Conversely, the carnitas wasn't fatty enough. Chips were not warm. The tomato salsa was average but the roasted pepper one was tasty. We ordered a variety of tacos, Chorizo, Lengua, Carnitas, Goat, Al Pastor and Ground Beef go my less adventurous friend. All the meats were tasty but the tortillas were not warmed. Magnifico. Best menudo I've ever had in Michigan and probably the best tortilla chips. Big menu, full bar, ample parking, friendly fast service. The Botanas and the chicken fajitas were also standouts- the steel platter was so hot it left a sizzling plume of smoke and kept the food hot for an hour. Our beloved Mi Pueblo was closed so we tried this place. The guac was fantastic and I had a non alcoholic drink of grapefruit pop w chili spice that was divine. The cleanliness of the place was only meh. Behind our table where they had a cash out station they had left five chicken strips on a napkin sitting out so that was odd. They also had a mop precariously perched on a chair for all to see. Service was decidedly sucky. The waitress left our empty guac plate on the table the whole meal and barely came back to help us. Let's discuss value for a second. It is pretty rare nowadays to get a decent meal quickly and for that meal to be inexpensive. Yeah, you can get a lunch special for $7.95 and be out of the restaurant for around $10, but that's not doable everyday (at least for me it isn't). Consider for a second a place that offers high quality, delicious food with lunch specials for as low as $2.95! Well, my friends, Los Altos is that place. Yes, you read right - $2.95 lunch special that consist of 2 of the best tacos you'll ever have with perfectly cooked rice and a some of the most outrageous beans. Seriously, the rice & beans alone are worth the money. There is a choice between refried or whole beans - I opted for the whole beans, but I imagine the refried are pretty tasty, too. But wait a second, lets go back to the beginning of the experience. Immediately after being seated, a huge tray is placed in on the table (mind you, I was ALONE). This tray includes fresh, spicy pico de gallo, a creamy avocado dip, medium spice house salsa, radishes, limes, & 1 other salsa that had a smoky, roasted flavor. With these, of course, is a basket of very tasty tortilla chips. Quite honestly, I could've made a meal out of this tray with 1 or 2 tacos (which are only $1 a piece!). About the tacos, they are traditional - onion & cilantro on top of the meat on a corn tortilla (flour tortillas are available for an extra charge as is cheese, but cheese isn't necessary on these tacos). I ordered the taco dinner - 4 tacos with rice & beans. It was like a meat sampler on my plate - I tried al pastor (pork), asada (steak), cabeza (beef head), & lengua (beef tongue). All of these were delicious, especially the cabeza which has an intense beefy flavor & must be tried at least once. On each taco, I would spoon a bit of the avocado dip, some pico, add a couple slices of radish, & a squeeze of lime - it was like heaven. After devouring my plate, I wanted to order another immediately. I almost ordered more beans & rice and a tripe taco for dessert! I held back though & stuck to the more traditional Tres Leches cake for dessert. I love this cake & this was as good as the one from Mi Pueblo. Rich, luscious, sweet, dense, & cool - perfect for a warm day. I must admit that I have been craving Los Altos since I left. Ms. Lorna was right. The owner of Lupita's owns Los Altos too. The moment we walked in and saw the same gigantic light fixtures that were in Lupita's. The menu was the same style and had most of the same stuff on it. We were even served the same delicious collection of salsas -- even fresh radishes (which Lupita's stopped serving a few months ago). So this place is basically Lupita's but... they have booze, weird fresh drinks (like sugar beet juice), a few different kind of combo plates, and a nicer dining area. Lupita's after getting some Botox and a little lipo. Unfortunately, Los Altos will not replace Lupita's in my heart. Lupita's is just too easy for me to get to, and Los Altos is just well... TOO NICE. Edited to add: This place allows smoking, but since it's a lot bigger it doesn't feel like you are getting choked or disgusted when someone lights up.
