I hate to leave a 2 star, but I did not enjoy my lunch here. A few years ago, I stopped in and had (what I remember being) a very good burrito. I've been back a few times and ordered what I thought was the same burrito, but have been disappointed every time. Today, I ordered the Chile Colorado burrito. I ordered it "dry" because getting salsa on top is an extra $2, which isn't horrible but it's already a $15 burrito. The burrito arrived and I don't know how to explain it other than I could smell the tortilla immediately and it smelled like raw flour. I know that's ridiculous because a tortilla is a cooked flatbread essentially, but it was really off putting. The Chile Colorado also left a lot to be desired. The meat was cut into very small pieces and the "mild" sauce wasn't just mild, it didn't have any flavor. The restaurant is always clean and the service is very friendly (although a little slow). The portions seem decent for the price and I always appreciate complimentary chips and salsa. I just don't think I'll be back again. read more

I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that maybe the server (who I am under the impression that is the owner) was just not having a good day, but she was not very friendly at all and seemed annoyed when answering any question that we had - and i'll mention that It wasn't because it was busy, as she only had one other table at the time. In regards to the food itself, the chips and salsa were not bad but not necessarily good either. The salsa was pretty good but I didn't care for the chips and probably wouldn't have eaten any if i wasn't so hungry upon arrival. I had the chicken burrito with green sauce and no guac - no complaints here! My friend got the carne asada burrito with the roasted red sauce - also very good! All of that being said, I would like to give it another try, definitely will be getting the roasted sauce on my own dish next time and will probably be ordering to-go next time read more

The only thing this place has going fo for it is thst its quiet. Because theres no one going there to eat anymore. The owners are over worked, and so SOUR! Now the food - bland, tasteless, poirly prepared, using canned sauses. Awful! Then when going to pay the owner asks how much i was going to tip. I told her my cotract with her was the price on the menu and thats what ill pay. She said thats the price for the food, the tip is for the service. I call BS on this one. NO TIP EARNED! read more

We were on our way to Sunriver for vacation and were craving some Mexican food. This place did not disappoint us. Once seated, we were served tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious and fresh. I very much enjoyed the taquitos. The portion was great for $10. Each taquito was filled with an generous amount of tender chicken and fried to perfection. They were seriously the most crispy taquitos I've ever had and the side of sour cream and guacamole complimented them perfectly. The reason why I took one star off is that I personally think the chicken could use more salt and/or seasoning, as indicated by previous comments. I found myself constantly dipping the taquitos in the salsa to for flavors. With that being said, I do think the good service and freshness of the food made up for it. The owner was very helpful with our order and even local recommendation. We got fish tacos and wet burritos with both red and green sauce. The fish tacos were very simple. White sauce and some cabbage. One thing that makes the fish taco delicious is the freshness of all the ingredients. The red sauce has a toasted chili flavor. The green sauce is more tangy. Worst Mexican food ever. Asked for crispy tacos were brought pressed preformed chips and shells. Said something to the waitress owner and she told us they were fried that morning. We know the difference between pressed and real fried tortillas. Flavorless tortilla soup. If there was any resemblance to chicken broth it must have been waved over the liquid. Should have know when we walked in at lunch time and there wasn't a soul on the place. read more

The food and service were outstanding. I ordered the 3 taco plate American style. The fried shells and fresh cut toppings were excellent. My wife got the vegetarian burrito with verde sauce and it was huge. The homemade chip and salsa tasted great and had to ask for more. This is Redmond's best kept secret. read more

I didn't even know there was a Mexican restaurant in this mall area. So happy to have found this thanks to Yelp. Went in barely before lunchtime hoping for breakfast burritos. We were a little late-oops. Well, that'll work out well for future trips because we know we want to return to this place. The food has a Oaxacan flair- one of the most distinctive flavor areas of Mexico and honestly, probably my favorite. We didn't try the mole options today but I could taste the flavors of the spices I associate with Oaxaca in my food. I had abodaba tacos and the flavors were right on. The others with me had the abodaba burrito and puerco guajillo. Both extremely tasty!! The chef knows what he's doing and we asked- he's from Oaxaca. All his sauces are made in shop and they all tasted fresh. I should probably add the service was great too! The chef's wife was lovely to meet- she was our server- I believe the two of them own this restaurant. Next trips- breakfast burritos and mole. I can't wait! read more

I have to be honest, this is probably the best Mexican food I've had in the region! I've had really amazing food IN Mexico before, and my first bite made me feel like I'd gone back. We stopped in here after the equinox fest and I'm so incredibly happy that we did. The burritos are HUUUUUGE!!! and I had no idea they had burgers before getting there so I started with one of those and it was delicious!! I was only able to finish half of the burrito after the burger, which without the festival hunger I wouldn't have been able to eat that much . So glad I had the other half as leftovers because the burrito was so incredibly good. Went with the. Veggie one but next time I'll probably go with the carnitas just because I'll have to start trying everything. So thank you so so much! A very pleasant and tasty experience dining at this establishment. The food is fresh and tasty, served with a smile and a thank you. The retried beans are seriously amazing, possibly the best beans I have found at a Mexican restaurant in Oregon. The shrimp burrito was made into a chimichanga for me at my request and I was very pleased with the final product. The house made salsa is some amazing goodness as well but I must say the chips are a bit too heavy for my taste. They are not bad, just not my style but in order to get that salsa I will eat them aplenty. The owner is an engaging, friendly and sincerely sweet lady who seems to enjoy what she does as well as her customers. Will I return? I was so sad this place didn't meet my expectations. I read lots of the reviews & thought it would be great, but mine wasn't :( I went with some fellow Yelpers & they had the same thoughts. The chips & salsa were good I got a chicken quesadilla and it's did not taste good. The chicken was gross and I ended up scraping it off and just eating the shell & cheese, adding the salsa to help with the taste. The service was good & kept our drinks full. Redmond has some great options for Mexican, but they can't beat the atmosphere at Mi Cielo, once you find it. It's a bit off the beaten path in a strip mall that doesn't face the main road. As I scanned the other mall renters' signs, I had trouble finding it. But once inside, we were greeted by Alma, one of the co-owners. She was kind, chatty, and fun. We struggled a bit with the big menu, but with her help, we decided to go with the red burrito (the Colorado) and the green burrito (the Chile Verde). Both burritos are filled with beans, rice, sour cream, and guacamole. In both cases, I found the filling to be high quality. What I did not expect was their size. These burritos are massive. The Colorado comes with a mild red sauce and is filled with marinated steak. I really wanted a more piquant red. Fortunately, Alma recommended the homemade hot sauce. That hot sauce has a thick texture that provides some heat and little to no vinegar taste. I doused my Colorado, closed my eyes, and pretended I was in Albuquerque. (That dream held well until I thought of sopapillas, which somehow never taste quite like they do in New Mexico. Sorry. Tangent.) The Verde has a tangy sauce, the tang likely a product of the tomatillos and lime. That sweet and sour tangy flavor is a great addition to the pork and beans. There are two desserts on the menu, raspberry churro and deep-fried cheesecake. Both are covered in whipped cream, raspberry sauce, and chocolate sauce. The churro is super sweet, the cheesecake less so--definitely more on the cream cheese side than the cake side. I enjoyed both and would order them again, but I will definitely share one or the other next time. Just the one is definitely enough for two people. Few strip mall restaurants deal as adequately with an awkward space as Mi Cielo does. Colorful murals on the walls, bold hanging drapes, and generous spaces between tables provide a comfortable, roomy experience that is made all the more excellent by the level of friendliness and service. We're already planning our return trip. The Pollo ala Crema and Mole Oaxaqueño look tempting. read more

The owner lady was not wearing her mask. That and the food wasn't even great. I come from SoCal so my standards for Mexican food are real high. The great ratings here got me excited, thinking I finally found my go-to here in Central Oregon. We got a carne asada burrito and it was just terrible. I could've made a better one myself. I don't recommend this place mainly because they do not comply with Covid guidelines. For some people, the food might be good or decent, but not for me. read more

I wasn't aware that this Mi Cielo served breakfast until this morning. We were going to eat at Mo's next door, but when I saw they were open, I suggested that we try them for breakfast. I feel a little guilty because I love Mo's, but I also love huevos rancheros and that is what I wanted. Mo's serves huevos rancheros, but I wanted to try something more authentic. I'm glad I did because the rancheros was amazing. The beans were cooked perfectly and the rice was very good. They use soft corn tortillas (which I prefer), instead of fried tortillas. There was enough food to feed about three people, so I brought home leftovers. W can be a little boring when it comes to food, but he ordered a plate with eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. He ate every bite of his food and loved it. I wish the atmosphere was a little more inviting, but the food makes up for it. read more
