I 'm a snowbird and live in Arizona for the winter /spring and live in Redmond for the summer/ fall. I have been back a couple of weeks and go to Planet Fitness down the street . I'm glad that Burrito Hooch is close by . After a good workout before noon I can swing by and get the best Mexican style burrito in Bend. This visit I had a Mexican breakfast burrito. It comes with scrambled eggs, pinto beans, cheese, hash potatoes, and guacamole and your choice of sauce. I add carnitas. By far this was the biggest and best breakfast burrito I have ever eaten. The carnitas are tender and they give you a large portion of it. I'm looking forward to trying more varieties of the " Hooches" burritos. read more

When you find a more incredible breakfast burrito, let me know. I love what they're doing here, and my belly is full and warm with goodness. Today I went with the original and added chorizo. They do a great job and the chorizo isn't overwhelming, but does remind you that it's there which is a good pick me up in the morning. The green salsa that they provide is really well done with a nice taste. Fantastic tortilla, and well prepared... All with a big heart of love and appreciation for visiting their restaurant. Ordered a jalapeno burrito with Chicken Tinga. I was excited by the description that starts with "Fried Jalapenos...". I was thinking of breaded and fried jalapenos that would add a crispy texture but found the jalapenos to feel as if they were sautéed. A little disappointing, but not a big deal. The Chicken Tinga had a good flavor and made up a good proportion of the burrito (you can see in the cross-section photo). I really enjoyed the size of this burrito. With many burritos in town, I am stuffed if I eat the entire burrito. With this burrito, I was satisfied but didn't feel like I overate. That's the good news. The bad news? That smaller portion size is not reflected in the price. In fact, their burritos are more expensive than a number of places in town. I'll be back to try something else at some point, but with so many burrito choices in town, this one isn't at the top of my list. read more

This place has only been open for 7months and idk how there isn't a line out the door. You have small joint service with big time food. There's a bar, coffee, and smothered burritos, football was on. The burrito tasted great, but the portion size was far too small for the price. At nearly $20, I expected a much more substantial meal. Many local food trucks and Mexican restaurants, such as Taco Pihuamo and El Machine, offer larger burritos for less. The flavor was good, but the portion size simply didn't justify the cost. I went in at 4:30 pm and bellied up. There was one other woman, Veronica from Alaska, at the bar. I knew I wanted the burrito grande but didn't know which protein. Chris, the bartender and owner, recommended the carnitas with salsa verde. I had to try the habanero, too, so I got half with that. Chris said that this would be the best burrito I've ever had. We weren't even sure Burrito Hooch was open when we arrived. The lights were off and there was one to-go customer at the bar when I peeked in. We came in and sat ourselves at a table and were the only customers there our entire dinner. The server was friendly and took our order. The menu was a bit confusing at first. Basically, you buy a basic burrito and pay for the protein choice. I got a carne asada jalapeño burrito which I thought lacked flavor even with the sauces they include. My wife and I ordered empanadas appetizers which were on the small side for the price. Overall, it was a 3-star meal which means I probably won't be back. read more

The first time we had dinner here it was an enjoyable experience. Food and drinks were done well. Unfortunately, on subsequent visits the experience was less than consistent. Drinks on the same visit were made differently. Too much alcohol followed by too sweet. Food was not as good either. When the menu list a grilled veggie burrito ; step one should be to actually grill the veggies. Sauce over the burritos had an off flavor unlike the first time where the sauce was a highlight. Friendly staff, good layout. Went on a Sunday afternoon and only a few people eating. Staff had their two young kids in, so that livened it a bit. I kept it simple with a Fried Jalepeño w/ Carnitas burrito. I chose the Habanero enchilada sauce which was divine. Definitely was a dense, meat and rice innards. Felt like it could have had a bit more zeat or life inside the burrito, like a creamy baja sauce to bring flavor, or a light scattering of cilantro or other greens. The tortilla chips were great. We are from California so we aren't short of great Mexican restaurant choices especially in the greater Bay Area. We were visiting and staying at Sunriver for a few days and were in Bend checking it out. We wanted to grab some lunch. This place looked cool and had a trendy type vibe. What we appreciated about it was that the folks who worked here were really nice. On top of that the food was good. We ordered the shrimp burritos and a couple of tacos and did splitsies with the kids. The food came out pretty fast and it tasted great. We liked the sauces you could add to make it a wet burrito and it was pretty filling. It's a newer place as they have been open for a few months but we are glad we stopped in. read more

Just tried Burrito Hooch and we are very excited to have an excellent burrito (and soon more!) restaurant in town. The food was wonderfully fresh, drinks are great, terrific Mexican beer on tap and Chris and Jeff were super friendly and clearly excited about their new place. We had the Jalapeño Burrito with carnitas and salsa verde and the guacamole app. Guacamole was not only delicious but really fun as it came with a bunch of sides (onions/cilantro, jalapeños, limes, salt, pico, etc.) so you can customize it yourself. Carnitas burrito was wonderful - carnitas was nice and juicy, fried jalapeños were smoky hot (but not too hot) and the salsa verde was fantastic. Overall great experience - will definitely return and looking forward to their expanded menu! read more

I was excited to try this place however it failed in every way. I got a grande carnitas burrito for $15. The tortilla seems steamed and not grilled in anyway, it was pretty small with a minimal amount of carnitas. Overall, it was terrible, I do not understand where 4- and 5-star reviews are coming from. Weird place with below average Mexican food. Table service with no actual service. It's like they want a tip for bringing you your plate when it could be an order at the counter type of place. They give you a little bit of really hot(temperature not actually spicy) sauce and never come back to see if you need anything. Bad service that I don't want. Make it an order at the counter place.
