None of this makes any sense. There are two great food trucks tucked away in an industrial park off Empire home to Van Henion Brewery. Neither food trucks are visible from the street. Manzanita Grill's road flag is the only indication that there's delicious food around the corner. And trust me when I say the food at Manzanita is delicious because it was. Anchored by the Van Henion bar/tap room, Manzanita Grill offers Mexican fusion at reasonable prices. I got a breakfast burrito and my wife got a specialty burrito. We shared a stuff popper appetizer which was a meal on its own. The poppers come with a dipping sauce that was rich and flavorful. The lady helping us was very patient while we were deciding and brought the food to our table. Definitely worth a return trip. read more

Note: Food truck has relocated to new location at Van Henion Brewing in Bend. Tried out this food truck when it was located at the Humm Kombucuha tasting room. Humm is in the process of relocating to downtown Bend and Manzanita Grill has since moved to a new location at Van Henion Brewing. The food truck was parked right outside the tasting room and you could buy food here to eat inside. I decided to order the Spicy Texas Fried Chicken Sando which came with a side of fries and garlic aioli. You get a beeper which will let you know when your food is ready. The sandwich was very large and similar to a Nashville chicken sandwich. It made for a satisfying hearty meal that was washed down by the probiotic-laden kombucha at Humm. I think this is one of the best food trucks in Bend and is worth a try. read more

This food truck is at Ballers and Brews. Have wanted try this place for a while since it has received great reviews in the past. My wife had the burrito bowl which she really liked. Said the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. I had the brisket sandwich and fries. While the brisket was tender, it didn't have a lot of flavor and the bun couldn't hold up to it. It pretty much disintegrated soon after I received the meal. The fries were seasoned well but are still precut frozen. The service provided was very friendly and timely. Not sure if this is a second truck or if it moved from Van Henion to Ballers and Brews. The menu appears different from what I noticed in previous photos on Yelp. You can eat indoors at the "tap house." I won't be in a hurry to come back especially given the lousy parking situation. read more

Wow just wow. If I could give this place one word it would be "the most prominent, mind boggling, jaw dropping, tongue tickling breaded piece of luxury in existence." Fried chicken with bread as its vessel, and that sauce as its harbinger. It's the opposite of a headache. While that wait was long, that enjoyment was longer. What I could say about the ambiance is ethereal, out of this world. A hole in a wall some could say. It's like we just landed on the moon. And we have a 45 minute walk to luxury. Hot dang! This food was AMAZING! They definitely know how to make some fried chicken! So grateful I did a search for best places to eat for lunch in Bend because I would have never found this place otherwise. We had the Spicy Texas fried chicken sando, bbq pulled pork slider, Nashville chicken slider, fries, and Cole slaw. The Cole slaw has a spice added to the top that just takes the slaw to a whole new level: delicious. The fries are also spiced, but not battered fried. The Spicy Texas chicken sando takes a large mouth to take bites. The price is perfect for what you get in terms of serving size and the choice of side. The location is a food truck right next to a kombucha place where you can buy kombucha from tap or in a can. I'll tell you what, it will be REALLY hard to pass on going to the place and going somewhere else instead because it is really great food. read more

I was delightfully surprised when they accommodated my request to add shredded cabbage as food trucks have limited storage for "extras" ... Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection although the beans were slightly sweet (I may be one of few people on the planet who doesn't like sweet baked beans). Came here based on the reviews and they didn't disappoint. The portions were large and tasty. We tried a little of everything. The torta and Cuban sandwiches were packed with meat and flavor. The tacos were huge and come with two tortillas which was great as we split them in half so my husband and his could try the few we ordered. Reasonable prices for what you get. 2 sandwiches and 3 tacos was just over $40 and we got 3 filling meals out of it. The cucumber pico and the chipotle aioli were addicting. The staff was nice and they make everything fresh, even so it didn't take long to get our food which was appreciated. Will definitely go back! read more

Not a bad little gem! If you can brave the gauntlet of 2nd street (better at time of writing this 3/23/22 than it's been lately, but still can be rough) you'll be rewarded with this lil' hole in the wall. It's in the Humm kombucha taproom parking lot m, to be specific. The tacos were huge and delicious, with one of the biggest roasted jalapeños I've ever seen on the plate. They had an interesting green pico de gallo, fantastic. Also of note was the Philly cheesesteak, damn good and appropriately messy, like all good cheesesteaks. It had a chipotle cheese sauce that was killer. I'm told the burritos are good here as well, this place seems like it hits all the right notes. read more

Great environment, good drinks, and consistently good food. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Bend.

The past week I have visited twice, since their outdoor remodel is completing, and they have new food trucks becoming part of the team. I am so excited for the changes that have been made and the new food trucks joining the absolutely fabulous El Sancho truck. As for the brews, Crux always has a selection of great IPAs, they also have some innovative brews, such as Bochi Bochi, a rice lager, and (though not often) make truly spectacular ambers and browns. Serves food and also may have a food truck open. Our last visit we enjoyed the bowl of chili and Caesar salad was all A-OK. The staff was helpful even when busy. Interesting to note, it's like all the beer drinker mt bike folks that used to all come here years ago just happened to grow up and have kids at once, so now it definitely has a very kids playground scene, but I still think it's cool here. (Just go inside to avoid the mayhem. lol!) It's sweet that they create a fun environment outside there. A suggestion maybe would be create a small section outside. that's a no kid table for sunshine and drinking too. ;) it looks like they're making good use of their space. I noticed many changes since the last visit. Looks like they have a party room you could rent, lots of fun well designed swag for purchase, ect. Crux will be always be on my brewery list for Bend, I will perhaps just avoid peak weekend hours. Cheers!

Food Cart Pods are not a thing where I'm from, so whenever I see one, it's pretty exciting. First of all, do all Cart Pods have names? I love this one; "The Podski", HA! Ok but beyond that, this place had so many delicious and unique options. We had Italian arancinis twice, a sampler of Pierogis, delicious oyster shooters and shrimp tacos. One thing we didn't get but looked awesome: I don't know if we missed out on some gem, but so many people were getting the burgers/fries from one truck. Also, so many other people were getting stuff from the Thai truck. And to top it off... the beer/cider station had an awesome deal. For about the same price you'd pay for a typical pint, they pour about 20 ounces of happy beverage into a taller than I expected glass. The picnic tables are colorful, there's a covered tent if you're feeling cold, people are friendly... it's just overall a great place to chill, drink, & eat.

The Lair is a rebranding of the former operation: White Water Taphouse. Or at least that's what I…read morewas led to expect. It's not quite that. Same arrangement - booths and tables arrayed inside with a pandemic-spawned sidewalk seating area outside. Order at the small bar at the back and choose your table. $6 pints and they have larger mugs. The primary - and significant - difference between The Lair and White Water was the latter offered up a wide array of beers from several breweries while The Lair now strictly pours their own (unless I missed seeing an off-brand tap). I consider Kobold beer to be middle of the (local) pack in terms of quaffability, so the new selection is a bit of a downgrade. Other changes include making the space darker and less sterile (more like a lair, I guess). New decorations are up and the electronic beer board is gone. They now offer a small sandwich menu. White Water sometimes hosted a popup poke-sushi operation. Not sure if that will happen at The Lair. Overall, A-OK but I will miss White Water.
