Amazing food and we always go here when driving through Bend! We can't wait to go again!

Stopped by based on Yelp reviews but it's a miss for us. Except for the customer service. The name on our receipt is Martin. He was super helpful and kind. Randy ordered the chile rellano and a cheese enchilada. The enchilada was filled with cheddar and no white cheeses and not much of it. The chile rellano was better but the crema didn't have much flavor. The filling of the rellano lacked flavor too so he added salsas and that helped. The beans were too thick and the rice was dry. I ordered grilled chicken tacos and they weren't good. Overcooked meat and no flavor. I added some salsa and that helped a bit. I'm sure it's an us thing. We are used to so much more flavor. read more

Review - Don Gabino's Mexican Restaurant - Bend Oregon - Delivery DoorDash This review is based on a number of delivered meals from Don Gabino's. The orders have been delivered via DoorDash. This restaurant is very near my home. I mention this because the most noticeable thing in ordering delivery from there is that each time, the food has been cold. It is surprising to me that a burrito wrapped in foil would become cold so quickly. The other consistent trait with the food I've ordered from there is that the meat is consistently very salty. The food is neatly packaged. Outside of the saltiness, I've enjoyed the flavors of their food. Plus, I can take the foil off the burritos and heat them in the microwave. I've also had their carne asada plate. I was surprised that instead of sliced steak, it had small cubes of steak (the same as in their burritos). Discussing cost for Don Gabino's is a little complicated. Their costs in restaurant seem to be very reasonable. The cost via DoorDash is not. However, for my last order (today 10/01/2025), there was a discount. Carne Asada Burrito $16.25 Delivery Fee $0.00 Service Fee $0.81 Discount -$2.30 Dasher Tip $6.00 Total $20.76 This left the Carne Asada burrito at $13.95. There was a time I would have scoffed at a baseline burrito costing almost $14 but those days seem to have disappeared. The delivery from Don Gabino's is always fast. DoorDash routinely beats the estimated time of delivery when I order from there. In the end, this is an average burrito at what seems to now be the average burrito price in Bend. It will scratch the burrito itch. This is the Bend based Mexican restaurant I've ordered from the most often. read more

Stopped in for the Buenos Dias burrito and loved it! I'll take 1/2 home for my breakfast tomorrow morning!

On our way to Coeur d'Alene, we spent evening in Bend Oregon, been driving for quite awhile and wanted something quick and easy before heading to hotel , saw Don Gabino's posted in the windows were all the accolades of the " best of contest" a multi year winner ? Ok, maybe the other Mexican restaurants in Bend are mediocre and this one is good? Any way the food was decent , I come from the Central Valley of California the scope and depth of Mexican food there is pretty impressive, so it may be an unfair comparison, the service was friendly, order at counter if you are eating in, 4 small tables and some bar style seating at the window they bring you your food, I won't call it clean, but wouldn't call it dirty somewhere acceptably in between .. so we dined in.. 3 quesabirria with consume , very good, consume was delicious, but the quesadilla were extremely wet and I ended up rolling them up to eat them, most I have had in past , were usually grilled on the flattop and got a little crispy, not sure which way is more authentic, but enjoyed them either way. My wife had soft chicken taco .. she thought it was pretty bland and did not care for the preparation of the meat , texture of boiled chicken ?? Said wouldn't fly in Modesto. There was a small self serve salsa cart, as well as chips. While we were there a steady stream of people came through. As for my experience it was ok, I would not return if I came through Bend in the future , seems there are a lot of other restaurants to try in the area, as I was only passing through and am not familiar with what Bend has to offer as far as Mexican food, maybe the folks in Bend are correct and this is the best .... I wanted so badly to like this but the fish tacos were disappointing. Looked beautiful- but a lot of breading that wasn't piping hot, either. Rolled tacos were decent. Service was great- super kind and we were able to self serve salsas and chips. read more

This place is a fast food diner with a counter you can eat at and like 4 little tables inside. In all honesty, DH did a quick yelp search and it came back with this result at the top which is about as much research as he could muster. I was looking for an actual Mexican sit down restaurant with cocktails. I ordered the El Big Boy breakfast burrito without the potatoes. I don't know how one person could eat this if the potatoes were included, not sure if my taste buds are off or what but the combination of the meats was not my thing. I threw most of it away. But, huge serving for people who like that sort of thing. My husband had the steak chimichanga, it was not crispy, and the steak was so-so; this according to him. He did eat most of it; however. I had a bite because it was covered in little diced tomatoes (which I love but he does not), and definitely there was something off about the steak. Anyway, we're new to Bend from the DC area (me, I'm Mexican), so we're searching out restaurants. This is the go to for greasy hefty burritos. Love the California and Oregon burrito. Their verde sauce goes well with these. Best to when it's fresh off the grill. This is my go to on the go. Be ready for a nap afterwards. read more

The food was really good. The restaurant needs some work. I really enjoyed my burrito and it was more than I could eat for a reasonable price. The staff have a little trouble communicating in English but that might also indicate they know what they are cooking. The restaurant is small inside with a patio in the back. It needs paint and general upkeep inside. I didn't go out back. It's not that it looked dirty but splotchy paint makes things look dirty and feel a little grungy. I'm giving 4stars for the food. I would give the physical upkeep a 2 star. read more

I'm in Bend, traveling for work. I feel like Mexican can be dicey. But I had a craving and took the gamble. For the price, DoorDash-able and portion it's a solid 4 stars. 5th star goes to giving me EXACTLY what I asked in the DoorDash note. All beans, no rice and bought extra salsas. Senior Don Gambino shares a small unassuming building with a tired looking bar on the east side of 3rd St. The small storefront windows are plastered with awards for their food!...from 2021! Is that a good thing? It's 2025. Anyway, I walked into a crowded approx. 20x40 space, with half dozen small tables plus a patio with another dozen tables. I walked up to the counter and quickly studied the internally lit menu board overhead. So far it felt like a Mexican version McDonalds. It was cinco de mayo, so I felt obligated to have Mexican food and a Corona to celebrate with our southern brothers. Enchilada and chili relleno, ordered, but no Corona! No beer at all (just like McDonalds.) I sat at a still sticky table with hard metal chairs. I visited the small salsa bar and sampled the "diablo" red sauce and the milder green sauce. Both were good and tasty on my free chips . My platter was delivered to my table in good time. First thing I noticed was that I couldn't see the enchilada or the chili relleno. I like a little shredded lettuce on top, but this was a huge mound that covered nearly the whole platter!. I shoved the nonsense mound to one end of the platter under which I found my order. It was tasty, as were the beans and rice, but I think I see why, for the past 4 years, no awards had been put on the windows. The salsa bar saved the day. The food lacked much flavor, leaving that task up to the salsa bar. This no-frills trip to the NW Mexican outpost was over. Sorry, non-plused on my first, and probably last visit. I guess I didn't make the best choice for wanting a taco salad. Tortilla burned I think I paid like $8 for a quarter half a pint of guacamole that did not taste like guacamole at all I mean no avocado taste no even salt cilantro lime any kind of taste just green paste that kind of tasted like flour so I'm guessing they are using some kind of mix and stir together when people need it because it was awful. I threw away my taco salad I didn't even try it the shell was burned you know after the guacamole there's no way I would eat another thing. read more

Delicious food from a small restaurant. Small place but with big flavors. My wife found this business while we were traveling through the area. We plan on stopping by here again next time coming through. The carnitas tacos were perfection in my estimation, crispy outside, moist flavorful inside, very nicely done. Well when it comes Mexican food I'm a very special critic. I've had a better burrito in Portland,OR. Being in Bend options are limited for the local people. I would say they need to up their flavors. My bacon, egg and cheese burrito was bland. No flavor! Also the atmosphere seemed off like the workers didn't wan to be here on a Sunday. Long faces and no smiles not very inviting. My fiance and I have made it a little tradition to grab a burrito from Don Gabino's every time we are leaving or passing through Bend, OR! We are big burrito fans and love to search for the best authentic to-go burrito in every city we visit. We first stopped here on our way out of town in July 2020 when we got engaged in Bend and we loved it so much we had to stop again as we were passing through. We both ordered a burrito with everything on it with carne asada. They have a variety of salsas you can chose from so we got the mild verde salsa and the diabla - both were so delicious and the diabla was the perfect amount of heat the add to the burrito. We always get our food to-go but there is both indoor and outdoor seating. I'd definitely recommend tryin out Don Gabino's whether you are local or just passing through. read more

So we tried to get breakfast at Sparrow the day after Christmas and they weren't open. Since we had walked to Sparrow's, we looked for something in the same area and came across Don Gabino's cuz I saw they were open and had breakfast burritos! So we headed on over. They do not have outside seating. We ordered: - breakfast burritos with bacon and added guac x2 We walked across the street and ate our burritos on the curb. They were huge and delicious! Their hot sauces were tasty too! I loved the green sauce they gave. The guy at the counter was super nice too. Overall, great experience here, and I will definitely be back for more! read more

Their carne asada California burrito is crazy good, I no longer long for that hole-in-the wall place in Carlsbad, Cali. Their chimichanga, I was told was very good as well. So good even my picky eater ate all the green stuff on it. Did I mention their servings are huge!? FYI, they do charge extra for carne asada which was ok with us. I have a weakness for menudo and they have it available on weekends(Fri, Sat & Sun). Can't wait to try it! Nelly was at the register when we dropped by. Northern California caliber Mexican joint. Didn't expect this kind of quality and flavor on our brief visit to bend. I had a Carnitas torta. I actually wanted to have a veggie burrito, but it actually seemed like a really bad deal, and was kind of complicated. I digress. The pork was really delicious and everything about the sandwich was really good. They had like eight or nine salsas on their salsa bar, and both of the ones that I got were delicious. But, the torta really didn't need anything! Oh yeah, the torta came with french fries, which I did not expect at all. Factoring those in, it was a great deal... A ton of food for the money. If there is such a thing as going somewhere too much, this is my place that I go to way too often because it's really good food, fast service, friendly staff, good pricing. Extensive menu. I think that their carnitas and adobada are not to be missed. $4 each for tacos, two is plenty. Not many places these days where you can get lunch for $8. Lots of salsas, pickled carrots and peppers (self-serve). Beer, soda, Mexican cokes, horchata, etc. This is a no frills business, that said, plenty of seating - inside and in their courtyard. I've always found a parking spot right in front (on the side of the building). Frequently a line, but moves fast - the team that works the front counter are pretty amazing, I'm not sure how they manage it all between phone, counter, door dash orders, etc. read more

The place doesn't look like much, but they're packing some flavor! I order the California burrito (Carne Asada, Fries, Cheese) as well as the Conga (Carne Asada, Rice, Beans) for my kid. Burrito: You can see from my pic that, in keeping with the Bend burrito scene, they're rolling a pretty generously sized burrito! The inside was packed with steak! I love the texture of a grilled tortilla (as opposed to steamed), with its flaky exterior and slight chew. The California doesn't really have much other than the steak, fries, and cheese. You can add rice and/or beans, but it's $1 each to add! Seemed a little pricey for beans and rice. On top of that, there is a $2 surcharge for carne asada right now due to Covid related supply issues. I understand passing some unexpected ingredient costs onto the customer, but jacking the price of a burrito by 25% seems a little much. Price aside, the flavor of the burrito was great and (between the flavor and slightly longer wait time) seems to be made to order every time. It took a little less than 10 min for our food to come out. Salsas: I tried the Roja Medium salsa and the Negra Medium salsa. Both salsas had a great flavor and pleasant heat. The Roja was a more liquid, tomato based salsa, while the Negra was a typical tomatillo salsa, with a bright flavor and slightly thicker than the Roja. I used 3 salsa cups on my burrito and easily could have used a 4th they were so good. The place was clean, although sparse, and they had a small patio in the back with 4 tables. Overall, a pretty tasty burrito, although slightly more than I'd like to pay. $8 is not bad for a burrito in Bend, but a carne asada burrito with rice and beans would run you $12 right now at Gabino's! I'll probably steer clear of the carne asada for now and look forward to exploring some of the other menu options. read more

I'm not a Mexican food person. I can take it or leave it. BUT. This has a great hole-in-the-wall vibe to it. Very small dining room- seemed most people were getting To-Go. Prices were not usual Bend prices .. YAY! Most meals ( and the menu is extensive) we're under 15$ My party had chicken mini tacos ( didn't skimp on flavorful meat - or drown it in 10000 onions) Chicken torta ( meat to bun ratio was appropriate, the avocado sauce (to spreadable to be considered guacamole ) was applied with a perfect hand , as not not create a soggy mess) I ordered (5)chicken flautas with pico, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. It was more food than I imagined lol the flour tortilla was fried to flaky perfection & The chicken inside was not dry it would seem you can't screw up a flauta /taquito- but lemme tell you , I find it's more often over cooked /hard, than not.
