Quick service and good value for money. I ordered a combination fajita plate that came with steak, chicken and shrimp. It was well portioned and well seasoned. I will accept some responsibility here because I did not inspect the order before I left the restaurant. Very good Mexican-American food. I had an enchilada and chile rellenos combo (#30) and it was pretty good. You order by the number (over 80 items on the menu) instead of the name, which was a little bizarre to me, but whatever floats your boat, right? After dinner, I had to have the flan. The flavor was great, and the texture was good. They have a full bar, but we didn't try the alcohol. Go for the big combination fajitas with chorizo...so much flavor and enough to share with someone and still have leftovers! Used to be my favorite for food quality and price but the service has slipped. A lot. The man at the door seems annoyed to have to deal with customers. There are currently three waiters standing at the bar watching TV with their backs to the dining room. No one has checked on me. We went out to eat and decided to get a taco salad and this "thing" was terrible. This so called taco salad had no taste there was no sauce except the stuff we had on the table, about a tablespoon of lettuce the meat was cold, no seasoning, and no taste. My wife and I went to Mi Hacienda hoping to experience some tasty Tex-Mex cuisine. Unfortunately, it was not to be. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was friendly and attentive; however the food lacked authenticity. The food itself was cleanly prepared -- the Mexican fried rice and refried beans were about what you'd expect anywhere, and the chips and salsa were on par with some of the better Mexican restaurants I've eaten at in DC. However, the only difference between the enchilada and burrito we were served was that one had a slightly different sauce (otherwise identical flour tortillas). Similarly, my nachos supreme had iceberg lettuce on top and, and the shredded chicken had the consistency of canned tuna. The flavor reminded me a bit like tuna salad, as well. The quesadilla that we ordered for our kids was okay, too, but it was as good as anything we could have thrown together ourselves at home. I will note that the ingredients were fresh; the vegetables were crisp and near perfect, even if the preparation could have been better. We didn't order drinks or desserts, so I can't assess the quality of those items. The bar appeared to be reasonably well-stocked, however. To summarize, the food here isn't great, but it's inexpensive and the atmosphere is clean. The service is friendly and attentive. Really, all this place needs is a stronger chef/cooking staff and it could be spectacular. read more

My family and I loved this restaurant!! The portions were huge and very reasonably priced! My mom ordered the chimichangas. They were great and the salad was very fresh! My sister ordered a combination dinner with a huge steak quesadilla, chicken chimichanga, and rice and beans for only $7.25!! Our waiter was very efficient but also kind! Super service, but the huevos rancheros were disappointing. The salsa was just plain strange -- spicy, and didn't taste fresh at all, which is strange since the salsa they serve with chips as you're waiting for the meal is much better. My fiancé and I eat here all the time. A couple of times a week isn't out of the ordinary for us. We always get good treatment from the wait staff and the food comes out fast. They have unlimited chips and salsa and great drink specials on beer and margaritas most nights a week. I LOVE the food here, but the service is lacking. We started off with the choriqueso dip, and it was perfect. I ordered two carne asada tacos, a la carte, but 9 years later, when the food finally arrived, there were four. Apparently there is a 4-taco entree, and the waiter got confused. I told him I only ordered two, and the waiter told me that's not possible, you have to get 4. I am a regular customer and typically enjoy all aspects of Mi Ha. Today, I was sorely disappointed. Communication issues led to wrong order twice. Received a pricey dish instead of a plate of simple chopped steak w/cheese dip on top. Finally, right order was received, but we were charged for the pricey dish. Asked for a price adjustment, and it seemed an imposition. Got $3 discount. Left feeling like I was a bother and not appreciated as a customer. Think I will take a break from Mi Hacienda for a while.
