Excellent restaurant with exceptional service. Since we are not from this area, I called in to make sure there was outdoor seating because we are travelling with our 2 dogs. They did not have a patio area BUT they were able to bring a table out in order to accommodate us. I was excited to try this restaurant since the parking lot always looks busy, plus it was highly recommended by some friends. We decided to wake up early on a Saturday to avoid a crowd, which we did. We got a great customer service from our waitress but we waited more than 45 minutes for our food. My husband ordered menudo which was okay. I ordered red chilaquiles with eggs and I did not like them at all--the sauce was heavily spiced with spices. I understand that they must be short staffed due to the pandemic but as a business it should be sad to see that all other their tables are waiting to get their food served. Fantastic little restaurant right across from where we live. New to EP and decided to try it out as it's right by our little ones school. The inside has a wonderful feel, it felt really homey and we were welcomed very warmly as soon as we arrived. Staff was amazing and incredibly friendly. Now on to the food. The chips and salsa were outstanding, served with two different types of salsa which both had such good flavor and the red had a really good kick to it. Perfect. My wife's coffee cup was never empty, again, this staff is very good. She had the chilaquiles, eggs were perfectly cooked and everything was seasoned very well. The rice and beans that came with each of our plates were also very very delicious, especially the beans. Perfect texture and consistency. I had the gorditas which were outstanding. This review is for breakfast only, and for only two menu items. I made the cross town trip here based in the rave reviews. My conclusion is that if I'm in the area I'll stop in again but no more 30 mile round trips. Since this was our first visit we chose food items we could compare to our favorite places. I had the menudo while my wife had machaca. She would have ordered enchiladas Montada but it is not listed on the breakfast menu. We learned later that it is available. To start with, service was very good. We were barely in our seats when chips and salsa (not great, but above average) were on the table. Coffee came quickly and it was delicious. I got my menudo a few minutes ahead of my wife's plate. I generally prefer to have all food served at the same time but the gap here was not enough to whine about. My menudo was pretty good, but not great. The bowl was full of meat and posole but the broth wasn't all that flavorful. I place it on par with several other places around town but it doesn't crack my top three list (Good Luck Cafe, La Malinche, Jaliscos). Now bear in mind, this is El Paso and there are 749,998 ways to prepare and serve menudo. I have my favorites and everyone else has theirs. My wife said the same thing about the machaca. I had a couple bites but not enough to form an opinion. The machaca came with a bowl of Chile con queso giving you the option to add it or not. (We both prefer ours with the cheese sauce added). As with the menudo, the machaca was pretty good, but not great. It didn't stack up to our favorite places (KiKis, La Malinche, Lucys, and El Rincon de Cortez). But again, everybody has their favorite and while we won't make the 30 mile trip for these breakfast items we wouldn't shun them if we're nearby. So give them a try, especially if you're in the neighborhood. *** read more

The service was awesome and coffee was good. Staff was very tentative and friendly. Food portions were just enough. I wish I would have taken pics of our food but it was really good and a pic was the last thing on my mind. We had chilaquiles in green salsa and also bacon and eggs with rice and beans. First let me give a shout out to my neighbors and friends who have been here and haven't told me about. We're no longer friends. I came for a typical "comida corrida" a Mexican plate that comes with caldo (chicken or beef soup) and a dish. The beef caldo was delicious and fresh. The vegetables were not soggy a little hardness to them but perfectly cooked. I got my Chile relleno plate and was happy to see they gave it to me with fideo and beans instead of the ol boring rice and beans. The whole plate tasted homemade. It's incredible that we drive by here all the time, and we hadn't noticed this hidden gem. Strong potential for a great place to gather and dine, and perhaps enjoy a beer or glass of wine in this area that sorely needs it. We like that it's locally, family owned. We visited for the first time today, a Saturday in late March, just before 5pm. On the positive side: the food is very, very good. The gorditas were freshly made and frankly the best I've ever had, though my partner didn't quite agree - he just thought they were very good. However, he really enjoyed his bistec tacos. The churros at the end of our meal were ALSO freshly made, and they were delicious. The owner is very friendly and approachable. On the somewhat negative side, though we had a good server and the owner was within a few feet of us the entire time, it was evident to us that some of the young staff's food service and hospitality skills are still being developed. I look forward to seeing their progress! There is a private area that seats almost 20 with a smart television for presentations. Wireless connectivity to the monitor should be possible, though we didn't check that feature out. Groups are encouraged to reserve the room a few days in advance. Fresh flowers at every table were a nice touch! We will definitely be back, perhaps to try their breakfast. read more

Just like your mom used to make. But then we tried a second time and what a surprise ! The food was horrible. Couldn't get a parking spot which was a good sign. I walked in and it was quiet with low volume music playing. This is also a plus for me I hate places with really loud music. Our waiter was friendly and quick. My breakfast (chilaquiles rojos) was DELICIOUS! The portions are perfect! The salsa for the chips was phenomenal! I even took some to go! They have a kids coloring menu. I had a good time overall! I will definitely be going back because the lunch menu looks super appetizing!
