So I'm back for my birthday celebration today, with some friends who bright me out and asked where I wanted to go and I chose the diner. I had the pot roast with salad, and had bread pudding for dessert. My dining partners had a chili bowl with corn muffin, a Denver omelette with hash browns and corned beef hash with potatoes, scrambled eggs and added a waffle, because WAFFLES!! Oh and they split a chocolate cream pie. So my salad was amazing, forgot to take a pic. The ranch dressing here is really good. Ripe to and crisp romaine. And nice cucumbers. My pot roast was so tender it was simply falling apart, the veggies under were nice. The gravy was yummy, I had to ask for some extra. The green beans were simply amazing here. And they had corn on the cob!!! Bi-colored, sweet, tender-crisp when you took a bite! SO GOOD. My dining partners liked their food, the Denver omelette was a picture to look at and huge. The only real complaint there was the has was just too dry. It was just shredded corned beef and small cubed potatoes. It needed something to bring it all together, she said. She didn't finish it. The 3 of them split a chocolate cream pie. It looked very nice but when cutting into it, to share slices, that was impossible, it was not set inside, it was very runny. Perhaps the waiter grabbed one that had just been made and not one that had chilled long enough, but they ate it with spoons and loved the flavor. My bread pudding was spectacular. I love Bread Pudding anyway, but this was very very good but the third bite in, it was cold, not just refrigerator cold but super cold. So I called the waiter back over and asked him to please reheat it because it was like near frozen in the middle. Which he happily did and also added some fresh whipped cream for me. So a couple of miscues with the desserts but all in all a nice birthday celebration. MAGGIE, I know you wanted me to email you, on my previous review, HOWEVER, your email address you gave bounced back as undeliverable or not an email address on several email options I have. Just to let you know, I tried. I was going to just come talk to you in person, but today was not the day to do that sort of thing. Could you check and see if your email address is correct? Thank you! Love the BBD! Will be back again.

My kids were so happy about their free dessert with dinner!

Came here on a Tuesday evening with my family of 7 for a birthday dinner. We all have different palettes so this spot had something for everyone. I called ahead of time because this new location has been so busy lately and the last time (on a Saturday night) the wait was over an hour that we decided to dine elsewhere. Tonight was the night! There was no wait and the staff was stellar from start to finish. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it did not disappoint. So happy to have found a decent burger in El Paso. Who knew Black Bear would be one of the few spots! My daughter had a burger too and she said it was good. Shoot. I forgot to take a picture. That's how good it was! My kiddos ordered fish and chips, chicken tenders, and Mac and cheese meals. My little mac n cheese eater was not crazy about his. To be fair, the menu did not deceive and literally said it was Kraft Mac n cheese. I think he still expected gourmet. My hubby went with breakfast for dinner. The blueberry pancakes looked great but ended up having too many blueberries within, so he'll skip that next time. The fries were bussin' and hot. I'm looking forward to trying their patty melt next time. I can see us returning more often. My daughter says she may want to choose Black Bear for her birthday dinner as well.

We were visiting from out of state and stopped by for a breakfast. We were seated rather quickly. Our server Natalie was outstanding. The food was great! I must say all of the staff from the host to our server were extremely hospitable! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

I wanted to love this place. But the food was just OK. We waited a long time for a table and my sandwich ended up being pretty greasy and hard to eat. Cute decor, though.

This place hasn't been opened long and I'm sure its still trying to get the kinks worked out. But for my visit we had a good waitress. The restaurant has cute decor. I had the bread pudding French toast. It was perfect. I loved every bite. I cant wait to go back for more. My sisters biscuit and gravy was needed more gravy. She asked for more but it still wasn't enough. That was the only issue but nothing major. Also there was a toddler screaming and crying and one of the workers wearing a green shirt went over and got the toddler to stop crying. I really appreciated that he cared enough to help a mother out to comfort her child.

First of all the service is top notch. From entering to leaving the entire front of the house staff is extremely attentive. The portions are huge. The taste of the food is amazing. The restaurant itself has a cozy, home feel to it. This place is a must try!.

We came at breakfast time during the week. We tried to come in on a weekend but there was a two hour wait. The food was good. Good portions and tasty. Our waiter Paul was very cheerful & efficient. The place is decorated with Black Bears. Gives off a cabin in the woods type atmosphere. Fun place !

Thank You Javier!! I recently brought my bike in to have it checked over, swap handlebars from another bike, and replace the tires. The team took the time to inspect everything carefully and answered all of my questions with patience and knowledge. I never felt rushed, and I learned so much in the process.‍ A special thank you to Javier, Juan and Ricardo, who helped with my bike. Ricardo, who is about to celebrate his 19th birthday, has such a genuine passion for cycling, and it shows in the pride he takes in his work. It's wonderful to see young people who truly enjoy helping others. I also want to give a heartfelt thank you to the owner and the entire team for creating such a welcoming place. Their prices are very fair, their workmanship is excellent, and most importantly, they make you feel like family. You leave with confidence knowing your bike has been thoroughly checked and is ready for the road.‍ If you're looking for honest, knowledgeable, and friendly service, I highly recommend La Wheela. Our server Alex will receive 5/5 stars for his kindness, attentiveness and attention to not only our table but his very full and frequently sat section. However, when reaching out to other staff members for assistance in his absence, there were some things that fell through the cracks. Missing silverware, condiments not being present, and at times things going forgotten or unnoticed when requested. The appetizer (pictured) Philly Egg-rolls, were the best food option we received for brunch that afternoon. It was shareable between 3 adults and filling before the entrees arrived. I wouldn't order the Monte Cristo Sandwhich again, very large, dry and just didn't pair well with the potatoes and the jam offered (pictured). We did have to switch out drinks due to her taste and upkeep up the beverages. The sweet tea originally ordered did not taste well but received new drinks upon request: Mango and Strawberry lemonade. This is a family friendly place, busy, but I would give it another chance.

As we were seated our waiter took 10 min to great us and then another 12 min to bring our drinks. I didn't think anything of it yet it was a precursor to the rest of our dinner. After he took our order our kids food came out in a very timely fashion but our two orders of salmon and one steak sandwich took 40 min to arrive at the table. What a ridiculous waste of my time because my sandwich was missing the fries ordered and our waiter thought nothing of it till I brought it up then he took another 10 min to bring my fries. All this while simultaneously forgetting the sauce for the salmon which also took another 10 min to bring out. The salmon was so dry it was tacky and stuck to your teeth. If you know the feeling you know it's bad. The rice that came underneath the salmon was crunchy and way undercooked. All while the waiter was like oh I can bring you free deserts for your wait all while I could only think about how I just wanted to leave. I was internally livid and exhausted but kept it to my self after seeing the owner or manager who we the guy with the white hair over at the bar enjoying a few alcoholic beverages meanwhile his restaurants service and waitstaff to the worst possible job they can. I saw the people who got the most attention and good service were all regulars sitting at the bar laughing it up with the manager/owner older guy. Why not make sure your restaurant is running smoothly and food is being delivered and prepared properly and stop trying to impress the regulars who most likely will show up either way. Any restaurant that is this unorganized and unmotivated is due to crappy management. All this and the waiter is like I'll comp you for the steak sandwich with a discount for the bad service and salmon which was a whopping $5. I don't want a discount I don't want free day old desserts I want good service and decent food. Discounts and free desserts will never fix the problem because it will always be a crutch for trashy customer service. How about stop drinking with the guests and whoop that staff into semi decent shape buy some high chairs and make sure your expo does a once over quality check on the food and time it takes to get to the table EVEN if that means stepping in and doing it yourself. The restaurant is dark the tables are sticky the whole place is very compact . Perfect and quite attractive after 5-6 wines for sure. I'm sure the food is outstanding after a few drinks as well . They gave us a $25 dollar gift card to return which if I could I'd give to the owner so he could experience the same horrible food and service we did. I wouldn't even give the gift card to someone I hated. This was one of the first times in a long time I didn't just let it slide because I understand all restaurants and people have bad days but this was exceptionally bad. If you are thinking it can't be that bad think again it absolutely can. The whole "I'm sorry we usually have awesome service and everyone loves our food it's probably just me and my family " is laughable . This isn't my first time here while visiting El Paso. The food is getting worse.

I got a root beer, a small combo with brisket and of course some honey glazed spare ribs, green beans and corn on the cob. Though I haven been here In several months I could have swore it used to be a whole ear of corn in the past, not a cobette. I also wanted an appetizer to start of some of their fried mushrooms with gravy instead of ranch. My drink came right away, it was ice cold and the Root Beer right on point. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. Wondering after about 10 minutes now or so where my mushrooms were.... Waited a little more ... and out came my entree. With apologies, some mix up in the kitchen and mushrooms ??? So I said to cancel them, because I wanted them as an appetizer, to eat beforehand. So now that my food had arrived, I no longer needed them. So my waiter said he would. So I'm buttering my corn. Salt and peppering it, trying my green beans (so good, but needed some salt and pepper too), opening this tiny maybe 2oz thimble full of bbq sauce for all that meat on my plate, taking a bite out of my first spare rib and another gentleman shows up with a basket of mushrooms and ranch. Apologizing that mine actually got sent to another table so they had to make mine again. I chew the rib chunk in my mouth and tell him that I had cancelled them already because they were to be an appetizer. And I already had my food. He again apologized and asked could he just give them to me, after all they were already made, I told him i didn't want him to have to do that but he insisted. So I agreed. I didn't know how many I might eat now, I was already out of the notion. But it was nice of him to comp them and leave them. So my food. Ribs were amazing. As always. My brisket was either the first cut or last cut on the board. It was more like burnt ends. I had no nice slices of brisket. Everything was black tough char. Some small outer slices, some outer chunks. All crusted and black. I just kept telling myself, this must be what burnt ends are like! And used sauce to try and moisten it... but on most of it, that was impossible. It was hard, tough, hard to chew. Very flavorful for what it was and I have pretty good teeth. But I got no nice softer moist slices. I didn't complain, I just soldiered on and ate it all. My ribs were so good, this day I wish I'd just gotten them. The corn was very nice and kernels popped when you bit into them but they were cold? The cobette would not melt butter. I've never had that issue before. The mushrooms were piping hot so I could tell they were fresh made. But I only ate about 5. I was all about my plate by the time it came. So this wasn't 5 star visit this time. I will be back, they still have my favorite bbq sauce in town, it tastes like Central Texas Bbq Sauce. So the brisket and corn missed the mark this visit, normally they are both on point. And the Gentleman in the Red shirt went out of his way to correct a kitchen or other waitpersons mistake on my appetizer in a friendly quick manner and I greatly appreciate that. And I'll tell others. I think I'd say, don't serve customers all black first cuts or last cuts on brisket unless they ask for that, most of us are looking for some nice lean to moist tender slices when it comes to brisket, thank you.!

And they just recently added a Mexican skillet that was excellent. EXCEPT for the fact that the cooks at this restaurant do NOT know how to make an over medium egg. The skillets are all topped by eggs, and you can get them any way you want them cooked. I don't like over hard eggs, I like a soft yoke. But I also do not like a runny yoke, which immediately drips all over rest of the meal as soon as I hit it with a fork.
