Catfish and grits " La fete style"

The whole experience there was so good. The food was well presented, but most of all, the taste was amazing. ! I had the fish and grits ,.. delightful! My husband had the French toast, which came with eggs , potatoes, and bacon., filling as well. Oh, and the service, very good too. We can't wait to return and bring some friends. Highly recommended...

We visited La Fete Cafe on a whim looking to try something new and near home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is a bit small, could use some cleaning, and it bit loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, their service and food were great! So much flavor. Only two recommendations or cons to the food was that (1) the skillet could have used more steak (2) the orange juice they use is not good. Other than that the food itself is extremely flavorful and we can't wait to visit again and try another dish in the future.

Oooh la la. We enjoyed the experience. I can't believe we were the only people in the restaurant but I'm not mad at it; the servers were attentive, helpful and friendly. The food was a nice change of pace from traditional El Paso foods. Soul food eggrolls: it was like a big spoonful of granny's Sunday meal without overeating. I'd never put greens, Mac n cheese, and chicken together but somehow it worked. Understandably, it wasn't seasoned like granny's to appease the masses, but the sauce on the side elevated the taste. Shrimp and grits: such a New Orleans feel to it, a much try and f you like the taste of grits. Savory and flavorful. The steak skillet was a heaping serving of deliciousness. We definitely got our money's worth and took food home. Eating here was such a pleasant experience, we can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

Chilaquiles, lemon/lime water

Upon arrival it said to seat ourselves. We waited about 10 min to get attendance. We ordered 2 waters my mom asked for hers with a lime no ice . The guy who was serving gave my mom a whole lime not even fully cut in her water cup and it was brown . I told him to swap it and his response was this is the best one we have soo. What do you want .. lemon.. my mom said yes. And he proceeded with 2 huge lemon wedges in her water .. I got the chilaquiles asked for over hard eggs ( the yolk was runny) My mom got the Monte Cristo. Looked just like a plain grilled ham and cheese with some powdered sugar in top . This was a disappointment over all horrible experience.. Will not be coming back at all .

Went back after about two years and the service was outstanding, the waiter knew what to recommend and it was spot on! The service was quick even though it was busy. The food was amazing, just like it's been before! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would say the food would be a 4.5 however the restaurant was a bit messy/dirty so that's why I put a total of 4 stars.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I understand people/kids are messy but there was a lot of crumbs on floor, behind chairs etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will def return tho, it's been a favorite for years!

Jerk Mac and cheese was life changing. Absolutely worth the drive. Entire group left with a new perspective on life.

Hubby and I decided to venture out for a Tuesday breakfast and saw that La Fete was nearby with great reviews. To our surprise they are black-owned which excited us even more! So happy to support! I ordered the shrimp and grits which was amazing. Probably the best shrimp I've ever had. Seriously!Hubby ordered the steak skillet without cheese which he said was good as well. I tasted it and agree! We also ordered a side of French toast and that was yummy too (forgot to take a pic). No complaints. Looks cute on the outside. The name was giving French but I guess it's more southern american? Whatever it is, I can dig it! The ambiance could use a little improvement indoors, but it's quaint. Service and food overall is worth returning - very good! We were the only ones dining, so that was nice. We'll likely be back. God bless this business! Give it a try! You won't be disappointed with the food.

In this tiny place? No way! La Fete Cafe is located on a strip mall a few feet away from a car wash. Don't miss your turn! As a matter of fact go to the car wash and go right. LOL Ezra, my waiter knows the menu front, backwards and up side down. La Fete is a quaint open style restaurant with enough tables to be cozy not crowded. There is a cute wall mural where you can take selfies upon entering. Now on to the food. Excuse me. I know this great food didn't come out of this tiny place! Oh My Gosh! First things first! That Lavender Lemonade is the best lemonade I've EVER had. EVER! Wish I could take it on the plane with me. Ohhhhh so sweet, crisp, refreshing and light flavored . Fish, Shrimp, Andouille Sausage and Grits - YUM! Fish - well seasoned, fried extra extra crispy in flour batter, so it didn't get soggy from the grits. Shrimp - large sautéed shrimp were a nice compliment to the grits Andouille Sausage - sautéed with peppers and onions, chopped small but not tiny Grits - very creamy and flavorful with the Andouille Sausage and shrimp mixed in with the crispy fish on top, is so delicious. I had to visit again before I left El Paso. 2nd visit, I got Chicken n Waffles with a side of Mac and Cheese Waffles with peach cobbler butter (unbig my back) Lordy! - fluffy waffles coated with powder suger, not over sweet. Really good. Now the peach butter can be its own dessert. Oh My Lord!!!! It taste like smooth ice cream and has real peaches in it. Let me stop. I think I've said too much. (First 48) Chicken - large chicken breast, fried a little to crispy and had an old grease taste to it. Thank goodness for syrup. Mac n Cheese - Sharp Cheddar is overpowering and in a cage fight match with the garlic. Cholula to the rescue. Prices are reasonable. I'll definitely return.

A local place in a small strip mall along a major thruway with limited parking. You could drive right by it and not even realize what you've missed. The restaurant itself is very small with only 10 tables total, half of them are 2 tops. But, what they are missing in space, they make up for a wonderfully colorful dining area with lots of paintings and color and they play R&B for background music. The food is incredible. Hats off to the chef for creating a very unique menu with a number of signature dishes. Today, my group ordered the Salmon Croissant, the La Fête Croissant and the La Fête French Toast. For Starters we got the Soul Food Eggrolls. The eggrolls were filled with Mac & Cheese, Chicken and collared greens and served with BBQ sauce to dip in. These are truly unique. I've never had anything quite like them and it was a really nice surprise! They were slightly sweet and the change in ingredients creates a very unique eating experience. While they are delicious plain, but, the BBQ sauce is absolutely killer. They don't have brand name sodas or regular water. If you want water you have to buy bottles. The soda they do have is really tasty. They have a citrus hibiscus soda that is also really tasty! The salmon croissant comes with a filler of salmon. I was expecting smoked salmon and was very pleasantly surprised! Excellent choice there Chef! The fillet was moist and flavorful. Not overcooked at all! The LaFête Croissant is an actual steak as well. No shaved meats here like you would find in a Philly steak sandwich. This steak was tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Topped with lots of sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms. Both sandwiches were loaded up with a fried egg to your liking. Both sandwiches were served with beautifully cooked holes fries with lots of seasoning t to make the flavor pop. I had the La Fête French Toast. They use a chala bread and it comes out nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside. The French toast is also served with 2 eggs your choice and the home fries as well. Honestly, the food alone deserves 5 stars. So, why not 5 stars overall? In a word, the service. While the service staff is pleasant, they are VERY green. She never introduced herself so I couldn't even tell you her name. She talked about being a picky eater as an excuse for not trying the food at her business. It's not. As a server you should try EVERY SINGLE ITEM before serving. Why? So you can talk professionally about what you are serving. Would you sell cars and then say you've never driven them? Of course not! So why is this practice acceptable in the restaurant business? Spoiler alert... it's not either! So... no introduction at greeting. Apparently her name is Kiara which was on the receipt. Then, after we had ordered the appetizers for the table she never got us silverware or plates. We had to ask for them, after the food arrived. The food took longer than I would expect, but, with the quality being what it was it's certainly excusable. I'm always willing to wait for exceptional food. Remember this... you aren't an order taker. What you are is a tour guide! You should know your food, be excited about serving it and it's the job of the server to lead their guests through an exceptional meal. Service is just as important as the kitchen. Never forget that. One last piece of advice. The table wasn't set properly before we were sat. There was no salt shaker. There were no napkins. There were no side plates. As a server, setting up your station is essential for smooth service. Imagine this. Each server is a store within a mall. The mall is the restaurant. So, how does a server set their store apart from everyone else's? Cleanliness. Attention to detail. Anticipating the needs of the guests. The one thing she did do correctly was to ask how our food was within just a couple of minutes. The general rule of thumb is to check the table within 3 minutes or the bites! This was the one thing she actually managed to do. Train your staff to suggest specific items. They should have in mind at least one appetizer and two entrees before addressing the table. The server should be saying things like, welcome to La Fête, my name is __________, can I start you guys off with an order of Southwest Eggrolls while you are looking through the menu? Why is this important? Because, like I've mentioned before, the server is a TOUR GUIDE, not just an order taker. And this is why food knowledge is essential. That way when the server says, can I start you with Southwest Eggrolls and it will trigger the guest to say, we aren't in the mood for that, but, what dips do you have? It's a conversation starter. Servers must know the food so they can intelligently discuss it and make smarter suggestions for your guests and increase their check. That simply means more money for EVERYONE.

Mango Mimosa
Bhanu C.

I went to have lunch with some friends and ordered a mango chile mimosa, chicken and waffles, and fried pork belly tacos. The mimosa was okay but too small. The chicken and waffles were bland and the chicken was barely cooked except for the edges. The waffle was nothing special and the strawberry butter did not help much. The fried pork belly tacos were bad and the pork smelled and tasted awful. I would not recommend this dish at all. The service was very slow for such a small place. I also tasted my friends' 5 cheese Mac n cheese and Parmesan truffle chips. The chips were tasty and flavorful. The Mac n cheese was too salty, oily, and flavorless.

Finally made it to La Fete Cafe and it did not disappoint. My husband and I came here on a Friday morning. The inside is small and does not offer a lot of seating. I can imagine it being difficult to find seating during their busy hours. I am not sure if they take reservations. Jamar was our waiter and he was lovely. Good sense of humor and kind. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband got the chicken and waffles with peach cobbler butter. The food was delicious. The wait time was not long and the food was fresh. Their prices are fair and the overall experience was great. They offer breakfast/lunch/dinner. We will definitely be supporting this business again.

Steak Skillet, 5 cheese truffle macaroni

Randomly stumbled across this place, pretty sure I've driven past it a few times without noticing. Glad we finally stopped in today. Best mac 'n' cheese I've had in a long time, a steak skillet loaded with flavor, and a lavender lemonade that hit the spot. Also had great service!

I ordered the Farfalle Bella Sera with shrimp and no chicken, lobster bisque came with it and I ordered 6 slices of their garlic toast, TO GO. Let me TELL YA, this food was piping hot when I picked it up. The garlic toast slices paired so well with the lobster bisque, I called my girlfriend and told her I fainted of a food orgasm. I obliterated the garlic toast slices and lobster bisque BEFORE I opened my pasta. Absolutely amazing. Now comes the Farfalle - the sauce was so perfectly seasoned, I can't even tell you how delicious that first bite was. The actual pasta, was so perfectly cooked, I couldn't believe it. What they don't tell you, is that they include a small loaf of bread that's sliced for dipping - you can bet your butt, those piece of bread surfed throughout my pasta engulfment. The shrimp was so tender and delicious, I couldn't stop eating. I saved 2 pieces of bread to surf the tsunami of deliciousness of the leftover sauce after the pasta poofed from container into my stomach. All in all, I am so glad I took it to go because if I had to eat there, they would've either had to put me on a dolly to roll me out, or I would've had to roll myself out. I couldn't move after I ate the entire meal. It was so unbelievably fantastic, I highly recommend you come here and tell them that BOB sent you - from YELP.

When we found out that we could order via catering I went straight for it. I let my wife know and she got excited like I was. We ordered our favorite chicken Parmesan and it came with four servings of the chicken Parmesan, a full tray of spaghetti with the sauce, a full tray of the garlic bread, a full tray of the salad, and with all the fixings in assorted to go containers, and it costs just over 60 bucks. When I brought it home it was memory Lane for our taste buds and for our stomach. And triggered off all the memories that we talked about when Cappettos used to be open on Montana. It would be great if they could reopen that building I believe it's still standing I'm not sure. Or just reopened. I was to finally be reunited with my seafood fettuccine and was counting down the days. I marked it for pickup and the prices for the amount of food was A STEAL. Make sure to order extra garlic bread because you will open up the catering pan and eat a few on your way home. They have a half tray of 24 slices of garlic bread and salad for $20. Once I got home, I started realizing that the amount of sauce for the fettuccine was more than enough. We honestly had leftover to dip bread in for the next few days. The pasta for a half tray was about $60 and fed our family. The breakdown per cost per plate is definitely max bang for your buck. Every bite was my childhood and upbringing coming back to life. I was in disbelief I was having my favorite dish in El Paso once again. My family now knows we will have A Taste of Cappetto's everytime I'm back in town. The restaurant is made up of individually themed rooms, each with its own personality, and the stories about the building's legendary hauntings only add to the charm. Our servers even shared some of the history, making the evening feel like more than just dinner. We sat in the casino room this visit and look forward to sitting in one of the other rooms next visit. The room was intimate and interesting but also allowed us to have a cozy meal with conversation. The food was outstanding. You can taste that the pasta is made to order and that the sauces are authentic and prepared with care. My friend and I shared the pasta nachos, lasagna, cheese ravioli, and chicken Parmesan, and every single dish was excellent. We somehow still found room for dessert and enjoyed the cheesecake, Mrs. B's strawberry cake w spumoni ice cream. The sauces were incredible and all was so fresh. What impressed me most, though, was the hospitality. This is a true family restaurant, and you can feel it. The service was exceptional, not just from our server, but from several members of the staff who stopped by to introduce themselves, check on us, and genuinely make us feel welcome. The pacing of the meal was perfect. We had heard about the famous singing waiter, but unfortunately was out sick. Even so, they surprised us by arranging a special serenade over the phone, despite the fact that we hadn't even ordered the pizza that usually comes with the performance of "That's Amore". It was such a thoughtful touch and perfectly reflects the heart of this restaurant. In a world where so many restaurants feel alike, this place is a rare gem in Central El Paso.
