Mi Pueblo has a fun vibe with vibrant decor. There are also some cultural pieces on display and even a photo op in the corner so you can commemorate your experience there. Don't know what to order? We stopped here because we were staying overnight in Chamberlain on our way to the Black Hills and the kids wanted tacos. Pretty standard fajitas, and 3 tacos for 6.99. My only complaint was the margarita, it was heavy on the mix and came with an orange. Very strange margarita on the rocks. read more

June 26, 2025 There were 10 of us here for dinner. They put us in a back room at a large table. There were many choices for food, typical of most Mexican restaurants. I ordered a margarita but it was more mix than anything else. It was big but delute. The chips and salsa were really good. The food mediocre. BUT prices were very good. We had 10 people and we only paid $110.00 plus tip. Everyone ate a regular size meal. And we all left happy. read more

Literally trash! If you call this a Mexican restaurant, you'd be mistaken. The chips seemed stale and when we ordered, we had to get his attention from being on his cell phone at the bar. We got one of our dishes out 5 mins before the rest and at that point we had to get his attention to go get the rest of the food too. No other drinks were offered. Food: I've had molcajete one other time, but this one was better than the one I had in Ensenada. Good Mexican food in South Dakota...? Who would've thunk! I was told an authentic molcajete had seafood, but I would rather have the beef and pineapple from this place. Salsa was good, tortillas seemed fresh, everything was very good. It's not like there are a lot of options for Mexican food in the Chamberlain area, so I am glad this place was good! Atmosphere: It's pretty open inside. The decorations are not too over the top. One thing I am taking note of recently is the volume of a place. It was not loud inside and the acoustics seemed good (we could barely hear the table next to us). I think the worst thing that can happen in a Mexican joint is blasting mariachi music... not that I don't mind the ambiance, but make sure the music isn't TOO loud that you cannot hear the person at the table with you. So... this place was spot on! Price: Decently priced, a little on the cheaper side but I'm used to California prices. I was happy to see such a large portion be reasonable in price. Still, you'd expect to spend about 15$ a person or so. Service: Great, no complaints. Our server and the guy at the check stand were both nice and didn't rush us or anything. One of my biggest things is, don't come up to me 1 minute after giving me my food to ask "how is it?" Bro... I haven't even unwrapped my silverware yet! So yeah, they were not in our faces the whole time, that's a plus! Overall: My parents said this place was pretty good but I am sold. This place was the bomb. Gave me a taste of home. Ground beef comes out soaked in water and not seasoned. Your plate will look sloppy. You could tip it up and water will run down your plate. Tried this place 3x. Thought it would get better but it's still ranked the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Is recommend taco John's next door before this place....seriously. read more

We enjoyed a nice meal here. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the taquitos, but when we received the order it was over cooked. Our waiter promptly returned them without question and brought a complete new plate of food. The Carnitas burrito was excellent with meat, meat and nothing but meat on the inside. Authentic Mexican food in the middle of South Dakota - why yes! It helps if you can speak a little Spanish. Complementary chips and salsa is always a plus. The shrimp and meat chimichanga was excellent so was my sons shrimp fundidos. My wife's and daughter dish the chicken salad and fajita Jalisco was just OK, the portions of the chicken/meat was generous. read more

Ask for a detailed receipt before paying. The food was great, and the margaritas were large. The only negative, which caused me to knock off a star, is that they did not give us our detailed receipt when they brought us the bill. We ended up paying a nice tip on top of the tip they had already added. We only realized this because before we left, we asked for the detailed receipt so we could split the bill between our party. I stopped here driving across South Dakota on I-90. What a treat! The first thing you'll notice is that the service is quick, which is kinda important because you're driving somewhere. The second thing you'll notice is how nice and clean the restaurant is. It looks like it was just built, and there are all kinds of pictures of Poncho Villa on the walls. I mean, the place is nice. And then you'll notice the menus, all leather bound and sophisticated. I gotta be honest, I wasn't expecting anything fancy out of this joint in the middle of rural SD. But you ain't seen nothing yet. The food is awesome. So fresh and tasty. Everything from the California Burrito I had to the kids meals my son and daughter had ~ all were top notch. The only complaint I have is that you have to somehow know that they're not going to bring you the check. You've got to approach the register in order to pay and get out. But I'm letting that one go. In the end, I had the best California Burrito in the middle of nowhere, super rural, zero cell phone service South Dakota at a Mexican owned and operated restaurant filled with Lakota Sioux customers realizing at that point how unique and wonderful America is. We have had the opportunity to eat at some of the best Mexican and Tex-Mex places in Texas so we come with high expectations. Chips and salsa are not their strongest opener but what we were served is about what you would get at a small family owned Mexican restaurant in many parts of Texas. Food came a little slow but we were there at 7:30 pm at night and they were packed with a constant flow of customers. We needed a little taste of home after 7 days of traveling and this little oasis filled the need. We were traveling through and thought we'd give it a try. Big place, nicely decorated and very busy. Hubby had the special, a small steak with rice and beans, he thought everything was good which is why I'm giving 3 stars. I had a combo platter with a taco and 2 ground beef enchiladas. None of it was bad, just blah. Taco Bell would have been better, in fact, there was a Taco John's nearby and I wish we'd gone there. Love this place! It's the only restaurant that never shut down. They have limited staff and sometimes the orders are a little mixed cause they're so busy, but the food has ALWAYS been so good. TERRIBLE customer service. Food is average at best. I stopped here during the Covid-19 pandemic and not a single employee was wearing a mask. I walked up to the bar and all 4 employees where sitting at a table in the corner, I guess they were all on break.
