There are many excellent Mexican restaurants in San Rafael. Mi Pueblo is just okay. I have not had anything here that I would rave about or be excited to order again. That said, I haven't had anything that was really bad and would avoid. If you are looking for a bar, Mi Pueblo has fun drinks. It also has a nice covered outdoor patio area. There is ample parking at Northgate mall. The staff is generally pretty nice. Overall, I would come for the atmosphere (once things open again), but not for the food. It's a bit too pricey for the quality, especially when there are many better options. I say this as a person of Mexican descent. read more

I am a serial eater not only because it makes tracking my nutrition easier, I tend to like the comfort of familiarity. The burritos here are large, beautifully abundant. I like to share mine. Wonderfully tender rice, thoughtfully cooked meats (that Carne Asada needs the fat parts cut off though) and the super offers the fat you always want - sour cream and guacamole. Delivery needs to consistently include salsa as there is nothing sadder than a bag of greasy freshly fried tortilla chips with nothing to dip it in other than your burrito. I love this small business. I am so happy they are able to weather the COVID-19 storm. Their home cooked style food makes the community great! I am very angry their affiliation with Yelp Eats and Grubhub is fraudulent. This is always listed under delivery BUT IT ISNT FREE VIA YELP UNLESS YOU DOWNLOAD THE APP WHICH ISNT NOTED ANYWHERE SO HOW TF DO WE KNOW? If you choose free delivery restaurants on Yelp Eats Delivery via Grubhub just know that delivery through Yelp wasn't free. Check your invoices - it will enrage you. Grubhub "customer service" online is horrifically terrible'. If there is one thing I do not accept, it is terrible customer service. I am going to phone again on the weekday and contact Yelp directly. I do not like false advertising. I do not like being cheated. It IS the principle. I choose to give my money to businesses that operate with integrity. This great small business almost lost me - a repeat customer, with that Grubhub Yelp delivery fake free delivery nonsense. I went out of my way to order through DoorDash knowing - CONSENTING to the modest delivery fee. I want to support this small business but I will not be manipulated while doing it. Read the small print and when there isn't any to read - contact the business. This is bs especially during pandemic when so many small businesses are closing. I ordered a carne asada burrito to go 11am, on Wednesday the 6th November and although they thought I did not understand spanish, I do and I was appalled. The manager on duty said in spanish charge her 2 dollars more. They burrito was aweful full of fatty meat and very unpleasant. This joint consistently makes solid 4-star food; their carnitas is particularly delicious. The fifth star is for service and integrity. On a recent DoorDash order the delivery driver neglected to give us at least one bag containing a couple of people's order. I called the restaurant and they confirmed they had prepared and handed off the entire order but that if I would come get it they'd remake the missing food. I was prepared to purchase the replacement food because I don't like the fact that DoorDash et al get to just screw participating restaurants (even more than they already do, I mean) - their margins are thin enough as it is - however when I proffered my credit card the gentleman at Mi Pueblo wouldn't hear of it, and had even thrown in an extra treat in the bag. We went for just a small lunch to split. we split a chicken burrito it came as a wet burrito.... Was a little unsure but it was a delicious. We also had an ice cold beer and guacamole. The guacamole wasn't my favorite the texture was too smooth no tomatoes or seasoning that we could taste but the server replaced it with fresh avocado and we were happy. Big 5 stars The food is amazing and best fajitas I have ever had including Mexico. Normally the dish is bland and I douse the meat with sour cream and guacamole but their fajitas are incredibly tasty with whatever secret sauce they use. Just to die for really ! I love the inside so cozy great location and nice people . You really should extend your hours until 10pm there is a big demand for a restaurant in the mall that is excellent! I frequently end up at the Northgate mall for various reasons and I was excited when I saw them start building this place. Went for the first time a few evenings ago and I loved it! Ended up seated at the bar since there were no tables available and it was cool. I ordered a burrito, and my date ordered tacos. The tacos were apparently really good, and my burrito was excellent (and huge). The grilled chicken in my burrito was done perfectly, which I've noticed is not easy for some Mexican restaurants to do - but these folks know what they're doing! You get a lot of good food for not a lot of money at Mi Pueblo and I'll be back. I saw that other reviews were complaining about slow service but even though it was completely full I'd say the food came out faster than I expected it would. read more

I challenge you to find a taqueria that actually delivers on crispy bits of El Pastor or Carnitlas like this location does! Without a Trompo it just doesn't happen. And there are bits of piña in the pastor!. The salsas are amazing, the ceviche is rocking, I talked to this guy who ordered the caldo de pollo and said he can't order anything else because it's so good. Their chile relleno gives me wet dreams! (No lie - or, no cap!). Everyone here is so cool, I love the people that work here because they're so friendly and so accommodating. Decided to give this place a try after I had a $5 coupon I needed to use on Grubhub. I ordered through the app and got a Chicken burrito. I honestly never heard of this place before and only ordered it because it exactly met the $10 minimum I needed to use. 1. Chicken Burrito: DAMN their burritos are sooo good. The chicken had the perfect charbroiled taste and was perfectly cooked. The burrito was huge for the price even though I ate the entire thing. The only bad thing was they put all of the sour cream on one side of the burrito and guac on the other so it wasn't evenly distributed. One side literally was all white from so much sour cream and the other side was dryer because of it. Still delicious though. Overall, my order was made on time and fresh. The restaurant has outside dining but looks clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly. Definitely recommend trying this place! Chips were ok, but the salsa is definitely canned. The fish tacos were not fresh and they tasted and smelled so fishy. Yuck. I accidentally ordered from the wrong location.so I called the Northgate location to ask to cancel my order. My plan was to reorder from the San Anselmo location. But the manager got on the phone sounding irritated. I explained that I must have accidentally ordered from the wrong location, cause I went to the website and thought I selected the San Anselmo location but didn't notice it was the Northgate location until I had already paid, because I got a Notification after I submitted my order. He said, "that's impossible because I am the one who set up the website!" Ok lol. I was trying to say it was my fault. But now I'm not going to reorder. I would have loved it if our food was great from Mi Pueblo since it's nearby but it wasn't. While the restaurant itself looks nice, clean interior, nicely decorated and they have decent outdoor space. Their food however is something entirely different. We went into the restaurant to place our order after reviewing their menu outside of the restaurant. They listed a tofuritto (not sure if I've spelled that correctly or not) on their exterior menu, just outside of their restaurant. That's what brought us in. We thought great, they have a vegan option on the menu, no hassles. Unfortunately, that didn't turn out to be the case. When we started to place the order, the menu inside didn't have that item listed and the man behind the counter didn't have a clue as to what I was trying to order (it's also not listed on their website). So we ended up ordering the "Super Burrito" with tofu. I asked several times if it was vegan. The guy said it was, multiple times. We placed our order and as I started to walk away, by chance I happen to think to ask if the rice had chicken stock. He said, yes, the rice has chicken stock. That started a whole renewed conversation about the burrito being vegan or not. He didn't seem to care one bit if the burrito we ordered was vegan or not. He was very arrogant about the situation and seemed to be annoyed. I wanted to leave right there and ask for my money back but instead I thought we'd give them a second chance. I asked if they could just remove the rice and add a few more beans and make sure it's vegan. He made some notes and the order went in. Skip to eating the burrito when we got home. First off, it smelled funny, like beef or some type of meat. I assume because tortilla was heated on the same grill as meat or something to that effect but somewhere along the line, our burritos become contaminated. This was extremely off-putting. They put no effort into accommodating our request. I can't recommend dining here, especially if you're a vegan or have any dietary concerns. Mi Pueblo serves solid Mexican food worth checking out when you are at Northgate. Probably the one saving grace for Northgate is probably their fast casual dining options all clumped in a convenient location. Mi Pueblo is one of their newest dining options providing fast casual Mexican food located not too far from competitor Chipotle. Some things that make Mi Pueblo stand out over Chipotle is a more extensive menu, alcoholic beverages, salsa bar, and wait service. I had ordered the burrito bowl with the pollo asado which was similar to a Chipotle burrito bowl except less greens. Filled with plenty of rice and chicken, I could not even finish the whole bowl. With the salsa bar to dress it up as much as you feel was a definite plus. And for all customers, a bowl of chips and salsa is provided. In the end, I felt like the two were of comparable value even if you include the tip. Was the food amazing? No, but it was not bad as some of the review suggest. In terms of parking, there is plenty of parking at Northgate available though it can get busy at times. Service was pretty fast. Overall, Mi Pueblo may not seem as cheap as their neighbor Chipotle, but with all of their other perks, it definitely makes it worth a visit if you want to try something different. read more

I began to go to Mi Pueblo in High School. That was back in 2007. Now in 2023 I say the service and taste of food is still consistent. Me and my friends in High School used to meet and go to the Petaluma and Novato locations consistently. There was a location in San Anselmo back then too. Great friendly service from Orlando at the bar. Camarones a la Diabla is my favorite dish, usually for dinner and at Celia's (San Rafael and in the city). But I decided to try here for lunch. It's a lot of food but Friday afternoon food coma is ok. I been to the Novato location several times, usually the tacos or a super burrito. It was a funny surprise, a la diabla tasted like kung Pao Chinese flavor, looked like stir fry with sambal oelek. It was fine but not what I expected and wasn't saucy. The shrimp didn't have the tail which is good but it was a bit over cooked. Orlando assured me next time to order it saucy and add habanero sauce and taco sauce. Arroz y frijoles refritos y tortillas were on par. I'll be back to see Orlando and try it again. This time for dinner and margaritas! read more

We decided to give Mi Pueblo another try after our last visit and I'm glad we did. The service was really good this time, the one and only issue we had before. The staff had things down, service was quick. I noticed that there was a Chipotle and a Mi Pueblo on the same block of the mall; I found that interesting. So of course, I walk into Chipotle since I knew all their food was cooked and ready to wrap. I did not find the place very appealing and there was no social distancing in the lines. So I walked over to Mi Pueblo and ordered a chicken burrito; it was ready in less than 5 minutes! It was very large and I could only finish half of it. We hosted an event for 50 people and ordered the catered taco bar for 40. The food was delicious and plentiful. We have leftovers for weeks. We had gone to the San Anselmo location for years, both in person and then more recently for takeout, because it is closer to where we live... until one night, I got confused by the online ordering system and accidentally ordered from the Northgate location. We ordered the same items we order from San Anselmo (California burrito, sope, nachos), but we found a pretty big difference in how they turned out. We couldn't figure out if the food had been made differently, if we had asked for different ingredients, or something else. The California burrito was way creamier and juicier, and the sope was more substantial. We have since been going back to the Northgate location for our orders. It's good Mexican food overall, and it's one of the few places that has California burritos. read more

It was better than 3 stars, but not 4 stars. I had 2 tacos a la carte (carne asada and pastor). I was very excited to see that they had pastor (barbecued pork), which isn't often found in Mexican restaurants in Marin. The best pastor is at Taqueria San Jose. This place was one of the better versions of pastor that I've had. The carne asada wasn't very exciting, but got a passing grade because of the taco accompaniments. My dining partners had a less joyful experience than I did. PROS: Pastor soft taco / the tacos The chicken that they use for the burritos The service (not outstanding, but decent) Margaritas - I didn't try them, but I was happy to see them on the menu Beer - all bottled beers were Mexican, but the draft beer selection had a slightly above average selection. CONS: The taco salad - I didn't try it but was told that Panchitos version is better. Burrito - the cheese wasn't melted inside the burrito and it comes out as a wet burrito - my dining partner didn't read the menu closely enough :) I will be back to try to some other things on the menu. For me, it is the best Mexican food in Terra Linda. I don't think that is saying much since there isn't much competition for that title in Terra Linda. read more
