This is a simple restaurant with a lovely outdoor seating area in the front and lots of street parking for easy access. I was in love with their food pre-Covid. During the Covid shutdown, this burrito spot was my treat. Their prices went up a lot since then. I decided to give it a go since it's been a while. I called ahead to get the order going. $17.99 for a seafood burrito is steep but the flavors are good. There's only plump shrimp in this burrito despite the name indicating a variety. Food was amazing, I had the carne azada plate and the meat was fresh, rice and beans were really good, my niece had the torta cubana and dayum it looked like a gourmet burger, very delicious, we also ordered the shrimp plate the owner recommended. First time eating here and most likely my last. I came here because my girlfriend likes their Milanesas which by the way was okay, yeah just okay! I ordered the Molcajete, since the second it got to my table i had a feeling it wasn't going to be good. And it really wasn't. I don't like to sound picky or anything but no Molcajete EVER has mushrooms in it, EVER!! so i went to the ingredients on the menu and it doesn't say it comes with mushrooms! luckily im not allergic to them like i was before but thats a No for me! Almost everywhere else i get Molcajetes from NEVER have the food chopped into pieces, it always has the big pieces of steak and chicken. I really likes the tortilla soup. It was amazingly flavorful. I used to crave it & go out of my way to have it since I don't come over here that often. But lately the tortilla soup is really bland. It was one of the few good items since nothing else on the menu is even decent. My experiences with other food at this restaurant are not good. Outside of the soup, nothing else on the menu is worth eating. So with the soup no longer viable, neither is this restaurant. I really wanted to like this place. After reading a few reviews on Yelp where people said the food was great, but the service was terrible, I gave it a try. I ordered a cheese enchilada, a crispy chicken taco and a chicken tostada with retried beens and rice. I also got chips and salsa. I got take out and took it home to eat. I decided to eat the tostada and taco and save the rest for lunch the next day. The chips were so bad tasting I ate 2 then threw them away. The salsa tasted like it came out of a can, and it quickly joined the chips in the trash. The tostada was at best editable. The taco was better than the tostada. The refried beans got hard and crunchy on top like they had been microwaved, and they also tasted like canned beans. The rice was on par with the rest of the food. The red sauce on the enchilada also tasted like it came from a can. I developed severe heartburn after eating the tostada and taco. The following day I decided to throw away the enchilada, rice and beans without even trying the enchilada. read more

Friendly, clean, authentic, great salsa variety, sweet mole, indoor seating or nice outdoor bench or table seating; tough competition around here for good Mexican food as there are quite a few options. Los Palillos by far has the salsa bars beat, there are 6 compketely different kinds and they are all good and many heat variations. The prices are on par with most of the local Taqueria's and the food is too. Probably the most similar to Mi Familia. Los Palillos seems, so far, to be an undiscovered gem of a Taqueria. So there's no long line to worry about or lack of a place to sit. I will be coming back to try more of the menu. I had the mole burrito $8 with grilled chicken, no rice and pinto beans. The serving size was large and the mole was sweet. The chicken was marinated and grilled and quite good. The mole burrito also includes guacamole and sour cream inside, fyi. YOU MUST try ALL of the salsas at the salsa bar... except maybe the habanero one... unless you know you can handle it. They are all unique and delicious! read more

It's a great place to sit down and have beers but the food is nasty. Service is bad none of the servers come to check up on you. I went today with my husband, he ordered a burrito bowl but instead got served a super burrito and wasn't told from the beginning there wasn't any burrito bowls. He said it was good. I asked for the quesadilla and it was greasy and very soggy and there was no pico de gallo for the garnish. Every place I go to the quesadilla has pico de gallo, cream, and guacamole for the garnish. 0/0 do not recommend. read more

Wow!!! I just had their enchiladas called Enchilada Suiza. One shredded chicken and one shredded beef. Not a huge fan of soggy corn tortillas so I asked them for flour. These are the BEST enchiladas I've ever had. The green sauce is perfect. I had the entire plate empty in 5 minutes. Amazing!! I saw some other reviews about the chicken tortilla soup so I asked for a small sample while I waited for my takeout. She hooked me up. Another amazing item. Everything I've had here is legit. Lovely little restaurant with a beautiful exterior (big palm trees and tables out front) and the inside is a clean, casual, taqueria type place. While I HATE to write this review because the food at this restaurant is REALLY good, I mean REALLY good (excellent red sauce and lots of meats to choose from), the service was so horrible and rude and unwelcoming, we won't be back; this marks only the third time in my almost 60 years that I left a big, fat ZERO tip and I didn't look back. My story: My husband, son and I went to eat there on a Friday night. There was 1 other table that was just finishing and another one that came in shortly after we arrived - that's it. There were 2 servers there, in total for the 2 remaining tables. The woman who served us was completely uninterested in us and was, in fact, just plain rude - like I've never experienced before. It took her almost 10 minutes to even come greet us and get our beverage order. When she did finally grace us with her presence, I made sure to let her know we had a Restaurant.com certificate because I had an experience at another restaurant where, when I gave them the cert after I received the bill, they informed m that they no longer honored these certs. She took it, walked away and mumbled something about "going to see if it was OK"...certainly nothing "cheerful", pleasant or welcoming in her demeanor so far... When she came back to take our orders, I had a couple of questions about the menu - there are about 10 different kinds of meat to choose from (YEA!) and a couple of the beef items, I'd never heard of, so I naturally asked her about them...seemed like an easy question to answer, but apparently not for her! The first time I asked, she just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders - ZERO verbal response. I asked again and got the SAME response...then finally, in a very friendly, joking tone, I asked her if she knew what the beef item in question even was (maybe she was new to the restaurant?). This time she told me it was beef - uh, I GOT that from reading the menu. In desperation, I finally asked specifically: "is is shredded beef"? "Is there a sauce on it"? and she just said "it's good". Same response for the second question re another menu item...OK. Of course, I considered that there might be a language barrier, but when she finally took our drink orders, it was clear that wasn't an issue - she just couldn't be bothered to engage us or respond in any way. Because there were only 3 of us dining, after we ordered, she informed us that if we wanted to use the Rest.com cert, we had to spend at least $50 and nothing could be "to-go", implying that we couldn't use the certificate because what we had ordered, didn't meet that criteria. Well, that's ridiculous - we were EATING our dinner IN the restaurant and ordering drinks. If I wanted to order a burrito TOGO and for lunch the next day so that I met the $50 criteria - what difference did it make to her? We argued a few minutes, then I just gave up, ordered an extra burrito, which she insisted on serving on a plate, then I asked for a TOGO box at the end of the meal....but WHY did we have to have this hassle in the first place???? When the food arrived, we asked for our sodas to be refilled, but even that was too much for her. Another family arrived, obviously friends of hers, because she went to sit with them. After waiting about 10 more minutes, I finally got up, walked over to HER table and asked if we could please get our sodas...with a big sigh, she finally brought them to us. After we finished eating, it was clear that the bill was never going to arrive, so I flagged down the other waitress, who "consulted" with OUR waitress (who was still visiting with friends), and she brought it to us. It was also plainly evident that the other waitress wasn't loving her job either because she just dropped the bill down on the table and left - No: "thanks for coming" or "I'll be happy to take that when you're ready", or any of the other customary niceties! At this point, normally I would have asked to see the manager, but it appeared that OUR waitress was probably "family" or was the manager, so I didn't bother. I waited tables for 4 years in College and I am a generous tipper, but I do expect SERVICE. The other 2 times in my life where I actually stiffed a server, I gave them the courtesy of calling them over to the table, to politely let them know why I wasn't leaving a tip. I feel like this is the honest thing to do, rather than leave a $.01 or sneaking away - in this situation, any comments I may have had would have fallen on deaf ears. The only reason i am giving this place a one star is because of service. The food its self can be 4stars as its good. My husband and I have been here a total of 8 times give or take and the first two visits everything was great. We have even recommended the place and brought large groups for lunch and dinner. Recently the service has declined there is one gal is particular who has been just terrible. Not only is she rude but when we asked her to change on of our plates as she brought over the wrong order she started to argue with one of our guest. I'm a bit baffled by the two reviews on yelp so far for this restaurant. It is close to my work, so we have tried it for both lunch and dinner about 5 times now, with the hopes that they would improve. Though Palmares had admittedly gone downhill, we seriously miss them. The good: portion size is huge if that is what you are looking for, and pricing is fine. The not so good: the food is incredibly salty regardless of what you are ordering (way more than normal for Mexican food), doesn't taste very fresh - especially the seafood, and the salsa is okay but certainly not on the level of what has been suggested in other reviews. It is a bummer as we all love Mexican food and this is so close by for us, but I cannot imagine anyone I know going back here again at this point. read more

But I went for lunch yesterday and ordered the same as usual and about an hour later I started to feel sick... Place looks clean and is pretty spacious. But the lady at the counter acted like it was an inconvenience to take my order. She was busy chatting with people she seemed to know and didn't seem like she liked the fact that I walked in to order. Then I asked a question on portion sizing of a soup and she answered unhappy and with an attitude of "you should know the answer yourself". First time coming in so I obviously don't know your portion sizes as every restaurant differs. We used to be clients of Los Palmares and decided to try this place. The staff is not as friendly, the food is not as tasty and it is incredibly GREASY. yuck. I actually saw the vegetables on the floor in the kitchen one day. The prices are not only more expensive than los palmares but have risen within the 5 months of them opening.
