Food was ok, but service was awful! They sat my husband and I in back by a table next to the bar. Apparently our server was also the bartender. No one brought us chips & salsa; when our server finally did - they seemed to be the bottom of the bag all crushed bits and pieces. Our server forgot our waters, in fact she never brought us waters, we had to ask the hispanic lady bussing tables for water and salsa. She was the one who went out of her way to bring us waters and salsa and this was like half way through our meal. Our server checked on us after we were done with our meal, so we couldn't ask her or anyone around for anything else we wanted. I wanted dessert but there was no way I would wait another 20mins or flag someone down to order any. This place is amazing. We had a hard time finding a restaurant who could host a party of 25 at ONE table and they took such good care of us! They checked in on us frequently, got all of our food and drinks in a timely matter, especially for it being a busy Saturday night for them. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought us free dessert and a sombrero and took pictures of the group. They came out with a table to make the guacamole in front of us, and it was so so delicious. Truly such amazing customer service. Then they even split our checks for such a huge group. This place is huge so we got a table right away at 6:15 on a Tuesday. I ordered a non-alcoholic piña colada which came out quickly and was so tasty. We shared queso fundido- a little spicy and very cheesy and good. Good amount for 2 people. And then because I already had so much food I opted for a la carte tacos and I was excited they still came with toppings on the side. Some of things my group ordered were amazing. Some were bland and just ok. The chili relleno was probably the best. It was so good! We also like the shredded beef burritos and enchiladas. The same sauce was on the bean and cheese burrito which was also good. The salsa was so good and surprisingly spicy! And but surprise was how good the chicken nuggets and fries were. My 5 year old was very excited they served them. They are fried, which she loved. And the fries were crispy and flavorful. My chille verse burrito was just ok. Not very flavorful and sort of dry. The tamale wasn't worth finishing. I love tamales, but this was not great. The service was great, though. It was very busy, but food came out fast. They brought the kids' food first, so they didn't get bored waiting. We had many refills or drinks. Everyone was kind and helpful. They were even nice or the nosy toddler in our party. Really wanted to like this place but ended up more mid than anything. The restaurant is really spacious on the inside. Nice bar area, a few TVs with sports. Music isn't super loud. These are all plus's. FOOD The food was very mediocre. I couldn't finish the (#49) Catrina's burrito due to the excess grease from the meat. I mean, the grease was pouring out of the burrito onto the plate. I ate half and then couldn't stomach the rest. The rice was good but ended up getting spoiled by the grease from the burrito. (See pics). Chips and salsa were okay. My favorite part is the meal was the Lime (Cadillac) margarita. Finally a restaurant that actually puts tequila in my drink. Good stuff! The service was mediocre. Waitress was busy but only saw her for the order and for the payment. Maybe once somewhere in between. But she didn't offer us a receipt, and didn't offer dessert. Well I saw a lot of good reviews and tik tok recommendations. I live 5 min away so I decided to give it a try. We walked in and were asked how many I said 2 she said 2 min one moment and walks away. Then more people started coming in and she asked same thing. My first thought was wow she has a good memory. 10 min later she just makes eye contact with me and it's like I knew to follow her. I kind of chuckled to myself. And my husband said how did you know. I said maybe it's a Hispanic thing we have a connection. The decor is cute and lots of tables. It was packed not one empty table. The waitress was alright. She asked if we needed time and I said yes since it was our first time she welcomed us and walked away. We ordered margaritas and they were huge! And they were weak on the alcohol. I ordered the chicken taquitos with rice and beans My husband ordered carne asada burrito Chips and salsa was alright. Salsa was bland and chips weren't homemade. The taquitos came out and they were good nothing to rave about. Rice and beans were good. My husband was not to thrilled about his burrito. There was a pool of grease under it. The meat was ok but bummed his meal came out like that. He could only eat about half before he said I give up. We walked away saying the hype was way to big. Paying I never got a receipt she showed me the little card reader thing that showed tip it was like so fast and couldn't even say like ugh receipt and she turned around. As of Sunday, March 31. I am now a resident of Utah. My parents wanted to take me out for my 37th birthday on Wednesday, May 8. However, we celebrated on Thursday, May 9th around 4 PM. The restaurant is located in a parking lot with a handful of other businesses, so there is plenty of room for parking. So if anyone is concerned about finding a parking space, that should not be an issue. I forgot the business right next door, but the one over facing the street is a Beans & Brews Coffee House. We were greeted right away and sat down in a circular corner booth. My parent told me they had been there before and looked different. And since the remodeling, it looked a lot better. The restaurant is huge! There were a lot of tables, I did not see too many booths. I am not sure if they take reservations or not. I ordered two red chicken enchiladas, covered with melted cheese and sour cream on top. For the two sides, it came with rice and beans and melted cheese on the beans. The price was $13.99. And that is slightly cheaper compared to Los Angeles, CA prices. Most places I have been to for the same dish are from $14.99 - $19.99. For the drink, I ordered an orchata. The horchata was decent, it was not bad, but I have had better in California. They also bring out red salsa and chips. However, I did not try them. My parents liked the salsa. From the time my parents and I ordered the food, to the time it came out, it was fairly quick; perhaps 10-15 minutes. My mom and dad told me the first time they came, they did not enjoy the food, and the time they took to bring out the food, was forever. However, this experience was way better they said and they enjoyed both the food and service. Our server was very attentive and polite and checked in on us periodically. My parents really liked her service. The enchiladas were also nice and moist, which I really enjoyed. I think next time I come, I will request a little more red sauce, but that is my personal preference. That the food tastes different from Los Angeles or California. However, at Mi Ranchito Mexican Restaurant, this is not the case. My dad also said he really enjoyed the leftovers the next day. This restaurant is super busy, but from the moment that you walk in they don't greet you with irritation they greet you with a smile. We got seated immediately even though it was super busy. The restaurant can get a little loud but there are different sections that you can sit in that are a little less loud. The chips and salsa came fast and you get your own salsa which is a very very nice touch. The chips were lightly fried and tasted less heavy than other tortilla chips. The salsa was your typical Utah salsa but it had nice flavor and a decent amount of spice. My husband got the most popular combination, a beef enchilada, beef taco. I got the enchiladas suizas both recommendations from our server. The red enchilada sauce had great flavor, and the rice and beans tasted really fresh and had really great flavor. The taco however was super dry and didn't have enough flavor to it. It definitely needed salsa. The enchiladas suizas were good but nothing special there was just something missing but they were kind of typical run of the mill for Utah. I love mole and all sorts of mole but nothing was authentic and I wasn't expecting it to be but I just would have like a little more sauce a little more flavor. Overall it was a good experience but I'm not sure if we'll be back. The service was so great though everyone was really kind our waiter and the food runner were both very kind and nice. This place is cute. The decor is what you'd expect for a cute Mexican food place. But the food is lacking. I ordered cheese enchiladas covered in chili verde. The chili verde didn't have any pork in it. The refried beans were soupy. We came with a group of people and the waiter had a very difficult time keeping the orders straight and even argued with my brother-in-law demanding that he received what he ordered (he didn't!). Finally another server came out to assist and she worked hard to make it right. The salsa is watery without much substance unless you eat the hotter version. Over all, we won't be going back. One bite of the beans is all it took for me to know this was going to be a good meal. (I didn't start with a bite of the tacos because I could see just how hot they were.) I gave it a minute and then dove into my soft shell chicken taco and made noises that I usually reserve for the privacy of my home. It was that good. Portion sizes were very large-in fact, after eating enough to be "full," my plate still boasted at least one or two meals' worth of food. I'll be enjoying leftovers for days! The ambience is very authentic-from the hand painted tiles that make up the table tops to the popsicles sold in a freezer out front, this place is legit. Our server, Martha, was friendly and took good care of us. I've been seeing so many ads for Mi Ranchito's lately on social media. I've been wanting to try it for a while, so we decided to go this past weekend. I was so disappointed in this restaurant! They advertise to have these large margaritas. I'm not sure where they are on the menu because I didn't notice anything labeled differently. I ordered an Azul margarita and it was so small compared to other Mexican restaurants. Definitely not what is showed on their social media. It tasted fine, but I would probably pass on another margarita there. I ordered cheese enchiladas with green sauce. There was so much cheese on these enchiladas! The plate was so greasy when it got to the table, way overboard on this cheese. The rice & beans were the only thing decent on this plate after I scraped so much of the cheese on the side. I think the rice might have been made with a chicken broth, maybe I'm wrong. But it tasted a little different than rice I've had at other Mexican restaurants. My boyfriend ordered the beef and cheese burrito, smothered in red enchilada sauce. The enchilada sauce tasted pretty good. However his beef burrito was actually pork, not beef. He also asked for 1 Taco Al pastor taco, just a la carte. They actually gave him a carne asada taco. His whole meal was wrong, but what he did have, he didn't love so we didn't bother to let the staff know about this mistake with his whole order. He said his burrito tasted very mushy. We ended up not getting any to go boxes even though most of our food was left on our plates. Staff was okay. Everything seemed pretty clean, the bathroom seemed a little rough for a new build, which I'm pretty sure this is. I'm shocked at their high reviews online. This place is awesome . First of all, the story of the family who founded the first restaurant in Orem and now they have their third generation maintaining the family recipes is beautiful. Extremely kind staff and absolutely delicious food. I had the shrimp quesadillas and my husband had the Doña. If you're looking for some great tasting authentic Mexican food, this is the place to come to. Great atmosphere, very clean and spacious enough to accommodate large parties and date nights. We decided as a family of 4 to go here on a Sunday early afternoon. This place was fantastic. The ambiance was just right with it being adult enough but also kid friendly. We plan to come back here without kids one time to enjoy the bar area. The service was quick, happy and very attentive while providing chips and salsa and full drinks always. The enchiladas were ok, I would order them again but wish they had maybe a little more flavor in the red sauce. The thing that put this over the top good was the chips and salsa. Too often you go somewhere and there isn't enough spice and flavor in the salsa. It felt like we were in Mexico eating salsa on the beach. What more could you want. If you're going on a weekend, get there early. The first thing I noticed about this place was the prices. Holy expensive Mexican food! I'm not sure why they feel their menu deserves to charge $5+ more for typical Mexican menu items, but clearly no one else seems to care. CHICKEN FAJITAS: Delicious as always! It's hard to mess up fajitas and Mi Ranchito is no exception. The strips of chicken were pretty small and straggly compared to what I'm used to, but it didn't seem to impact the overall flavor. TACOS AL PASTOR: There is a photo of this menu item on the menu, with juicy grilled pineapple sitting atop the marinated pork. When the tacos arrived, no pineapple in sight. My friend was disappointed because that was the whole reason he ordered the tacos in the first place. The meat was pretty dry and definitely needed some form of added moisture. Fortunately, it came with some extra taco fixings, but the pineapple would have been the highlight of the dish. He ended up eating the rice and beans and leaving the tacos for when he could add pineapple at home...so sad! Overall, the food was good. But there's a part of me that wonders if Mi Ranchito is capable of making AMAZING Mexican food that we didn't get to experience due the Saturday night rush? read more

This has been my favorite and go-to Mexican restaurant since moving here over 2 years ago. The food is excellent and the most authentic I have tried in the area. My go-to menu items are the fajitas and carne asada! The service is fantastic! Super fast seating and service, the staff are always friendly and happy, and I have always been happy with my experience. Well at a glance, you will miss this place. It is hidden right off of redwood Road. As you enter this place they greet you with a smile and very politely escort you to your table. It is a relaxing atmosphere and very open with lots of room. You come in and you just feel right at home the way it should be. For the food it is amazing and mouth watering. Love this Mexican spot! One of the best in the valley besides maybe blue iguana. They are locally owned and source a lot of their food from local vendors, which I love! Always start with the chips and salsa because their salsa is amazing! Have ordered several items in the past and enjoyed all of them, including steak and chicken fajitas, chicken tacos, chicken enchilada, and several of their salads. My favorites are the steak or chicken enchiladas. Always have fresh ingredients and spiced really well! Also the portions are humongous so come and expect to bring a box home for lunch the next day. I had the camerones al mojo de ajo and a pineapple margarita. The food was really good, so was the salsa. The margarita had fresh muddled pineapple in it, no cheap mixes used here. The service was top notch. I sat at the bar, the bartender was super friendly even though he was swamped (It was a weekend night). Standard chips you'd buy at the grocery store Salsa - 4.5. The salsa with the chips was great. Excellent flavor. I could have used a bit more more heat Rice - 5. Soft and flavorful, authentic Mexican rice Beans - 4. A bit bland. Authentic refried beans aren't bursting with flavor but they are also normally swimming in oil, which makes them delicious. Guacamole- 3. Avocado didn't seem like the first ingredient. Don Manuel taco - 3.5 A bit of chorizo goes a long way, this had too much and overpowered everything else. The cheese was amazing and the carne asada (what I could taste) was good as well. Al Pastor taco - 4 Simple no fuss taco. Meat only, disappointing for the price of a single taco.
