Not very typical Colombian restaurant. Just recently moved from south FL and I can tell you this place was not good at all. The food was bad I didn't even finish half my plate of food. I had "pollo a la parrilla" the chicken was dry the rice bland the French fried dried up like they where made 30-45 mins before just reheated. The only thing I enjoyed was my Guanabana shake. I was also eating there with my family and half of us just stopped eating half of our lunch. My kids also did not eat and enjoy their food as well. The arepas where hard and bland as well. There where other items on the menu that the restaurant didn't offer to eat that most Colombian spots offer. Oh man this place is super cool!!! I loved all the decor on the wall. It was very unique. I think they also have karaoke or live music in the evenings because I saw a corner with some of that stuff for it. I haven't had Columbian food before so I knew I wanted to check this place out when we were in the area. I am not familiar with Columbian food so I wasn't sure what to try that was authentic to the culture. I went with empanadas and hubby got a chicken and rice dish. The empanadas were ok but not much flavor. The guac was good but didn't come with any chips to eat it with. The Horchata was good but stronger than I was used to. I didn't realize what I get is usually more watered down. Hubby's chicken and rice tasted like it would anywhere else. I wouldn't mind coming back but I'd def want to know what to try that's more authentic. The service is good but I feel bad for the waitress whose job it is to tell everyone not to park in front. We thought it was a sign like saying only customers could park there but instead it was actually the owners parking spot. Funny how now Yelp asks when you put two stars "what can be improved?" Let's start with the reserved parking spots that say you will be towed. We assumed those were for paying customers but NOPE. They're for the owners. But it doesn't even say that. Reserved parking is usually for the paying customers keeping the business afloat. We had a waitress come out, who we can tell has had to say this a lot, come ask us to move our car. I can tell she's tired of having to tell people not to park there. I've never seen a restaurant have parking reserved for the owners at the front like that. I didn't know this was a corporate headquarters. So now for the food. Walking in I would've thought it would be very authentic. Turns out a lot of the food is very Tex mex. Only a few items are Columbian even though this is a Columbian restaurant. I ordered chicken and rice and cheese dip and it tasted like any other non authentic Tex mex place. You can tell it all comes from the same food supplier. But it was more expensive than other places. The owners here include the gratuity on the bill. Usually this is done for a large table. It's also only 15% when usually it would be 18%. We verified this is done by the owners. We didn't see anywhere say this we just happened to notice when the bill was more expensive than we expected and were looking over it. Our waitress did a good job so there was no way we were only going to leave 15% so I'm glad we realized it. The waitress and the decorations are what kept this from being a 1 star. This place looks like it would be a fun hangout place especially at night and weekends. It looked like they had karaoke and a dance floor. read more

I love a restaurant that's consistent with their food and service. I always order to go, but I'm in and out within 10-15mins. My go to are the empanadas. My wife and I went with our daughter and son-in-law in March. We had various plates and everyone loved their food (I irresponsibly threw our receipt out before getting around to this review so can't adequately describe). I was having difficulty eating at that time (medical condition) so couldn't get anything spicy or more adventurous, but I do recall my plate (see picture) had a fried egg, small steak, fried pork, plantains, beans, avocado and of course rice. I didn't see oxtail but love it, heard they had it and would like to go back for it (or one of their exotic dishes like the whole fish I saw). The prices were fair. The only drawback was 'part' of the service - we expected them to check on us a little more than they did so we ended up waiting for certain items, and it was pretty hard to find someone who could give us change for a tip (mostly due to not having adequate English speakers). read more

I came here with my columbian friend to pick up food, I forgot what she ordered but it was an oxtail soup, sausage, rice, fried egg, plantains, and red beans. All of the food was full of flavor and unique. We had a margarita which was huge and also really good. All of the food was delicious so we will for sure be back. We just left Mi Tierra. We intended to have a late dinner, then stay for some dancing. Yes, we have white skin, but my husband is from Peru, speaks Spanish as his first language, and is an excellent Latin dancer. The service was absolutely abysmal! I had to go the bar to get a glass of water, then was looked at in disdain when I asked for my husband's also to be refilled. The woman delivered our drinks and other than coming to our table with the water (because the bartender told her to), she never approached our table again until it was time to present the check. The drink menu says to ask for pricing before ordering alcohol. I did, and she wasn't sure of the price. We really intended to stay to dance, but she just brought us the check after we finished eating, never asked how everything was, did we want another drink, nothing. It's a good thing gratuity was automatically added to our (rather expensive) check ( this is an absolute pet peeve of mine) or she would not have gotten a dime. The food and drinks are good. I love their pina coladas. On my first visit, my sister and I sat at a small table with 4 chairs and we were told we couldn't sit there because it was a four person table but as we looked around, there were no tables with just two chairs. Other parties of two were at 4 person tables but we were told they were waiting on people (who actually never arrived). This is a little known and very underrated Mexican restaurant near Bartlett that I tried on a whim the other day. Mostly because the exterior caught my eye. It's bright yellow with a little porch out front and nice, colorful signage. Besides, if you read my reviews, you know how much I love Mexican Food. I am always ready to try a new place. And Mi Tierra did not disappoint. The food was great!!! Very authentic and very fresh - two important keys for good Mexican food. I had chips and salsa and chicken enchiladas with rice. Everything was delicious and the prices were great - really inexpensive. My entire meal, with drink, was less than than $9. After canceling a date because the guy turned out to be a total creepy perv, I was all dressed up and hungry, so I decided to go here. They're a Columbian restaurant but have a menu of select Mexican items. I was kind of sad they didn't have any taco combos or anything...that's usually my go-to thing. I ordered chicken flautas and the description sounded good: stuffed tortillas, deep fried, and served with lettuce, sour cream, and tomato. It was basically served with lettuce if you look at the photo. Luckily I had salsa to add to it. It didn't set well with my tummy but I don't eat a lot of fried food so that may be why. When I first got there, I waited quite a while for anyone to see me. But the waitress was really friendly. I was the only person there and this place could easily seat 75+ people. The bar is cute and I like the decor, but maybe their biggest issue is location? If I didn't see it on yelp, I never would have seen it behind the Taco Bell and Sharks giant illuminated signs. read more

I have been to Mi Tierra a few times and had a good time. So far I have only been here on Friday or Saturday nights to dance and have a couple of drinks. The ambience is really chill. They play a lot of Bachata, Reggaeton, and some Norteno music. The dance floor is small and it can get crowded at times, but only on busy nights. Food wise, I have only tried their Picada Completa and it is delicious. It looks like a huge appetizer plate filled with plantains, empanadas, arepas with cheese, cassava, pork rinds, salsa, pork tenderloin, tomatoes, and short ribs. This plate is good to share with 2 to 3 people. The staff is friendly, the bathrooms are clean, and the prices aren't bad either. read more
