Waitres was great! Super friendly and helpful. Food was almost inedible. Chips were stale. Guacamole was way too expensive for below average store bought guacamole. Steak burritos were cold and the steak was very low quality with too much gristle. My wife ordered taquitos ... was supposed to be 2 chicken and 2 beef ... she got 3 chicken and 1 beef. Daughter's beef taco was inedible. Ground Beef was very low quality, minced greasy meat. Her vegetables were mostly broccoli stocks. Funny part ... my Burritos had broccoli and cauliflower in them which threw me for a loop ... but in their defense my wife pointed out that the menu did say mixed vegetables in the description ... I just assumed it was an onion and bell pepper mix, like fajitas. I love supporting small businesses ... but lower your expectations if dining here. Maybe it's the result of the pandemic ... I know it's been terrible for businesses ... but it just seemed like they are charging way too much for very low quality food. I'd also recommend that they decrease the items on the menu and focus on what they do well. If we're forced to go back there again ... I'll make sure to front-load the meal with appetizer margaritas ... they looked good. read more

Bad takeout option. They greatly exceed menu prices when you order takeout and they don't bother to explain that to you or try to listen to you when you call. So they charge you double menu prices and get the order wrong. read more

I was taking a Sunday drive in the country & decided to stop @ El Mezcal. Two cars were parked in front @ 6pm. I immediately liked the layout & atmosphere, & the attitude of the employees. Then people began streaming in. By 6:20, the Main Dining Room was almost filled with parties of 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 in addition to booths & tables of 4. I ordered the San Jose' Special ~ Deep-fried shredded Beef Burrito, Shredded Chicken Taquito topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese, & sour cream, Served with Rice & Beans ($8.99). It was very good. I usually really love this place, but tonight the service was horrible. The waitress dropped off our food, then never came back. We had to get up and find a to-go box. When we did, we saw her on her phone in the kitchen. This location needs to find new waiters and waitresses. read more

We have been enough times to be part of the family. The service is good 90% of the time. The food is consistent and the cost is affordable. You can get in and out as quickly as you want. read more

Mezcal is located in a little strip mall right near Three Guys Pizza. I went here with the husband and a friend for lunch last Sunday, and wasn't extremely wowed. I'm not sure why, but I don't like my Mexican food to be anything but predictable Mexican. This was not. The chips and salsa were delicious, I'll give them that. The salsa was actually pretty killer. We ordered queso fundido with chorizo which was really odd. Usually this dish comes out in a melty, cheesy mess that you scoop up and eat on warm tortilla shells. This particular one was made with a cheese whiz consistency and had hunks of chorizo floating about. It was served with chips and I really didn't care for it. I ordered chicken enchiladas- which were served up with an onion and pepper mixture inside the shell. I much prefer my enchiladas with just the meat and cheese. They were decent at best. My husband went for the tamales, by far the worst choice of the afternoon. They were filled with unseasoned ground beef, had no husks on the outside and were covered in an enchilada sauce. The outer corn portion was an odd texture and taste- and it really didn't go well with the enchilada sauce. The meal was decent- I wasn't a huge fan. I much prefer Las Delicias. Everything there is so fresh and ridiculously delicious. The service here was good- everything was served up fresh and hot and our server was very friendly. read more

The food was good but the prices have went through the roof. 2 dinners and a large cheese dip was 47.75, we will not be eating there again.

I'd give the staff of El Mezcal Arlington four stars for consistency. They rarely change a dish. What i mean is, if you found something you really love here, you're more than likely going to love it every time you order it. They make sure that they don't stray too far from the way they originally made it. I've been to other Mexican or TexMex restaurants where they have a tendency to stray in different directions on particular dishes depending on who is in the kitchen at that particular time. Not here, they almost always hit the mark. Also...their staff is always friendly and doing their best to make your experience great. The only problem I've ever encountered here wasn't even their fault. In Arlington we have what's called the "New Cordova" shift going on. It seems the very people many can't stand in Cordova have now made their way out to Arlington. Eight years ago you wouldn't have encountered the rudeness from customers that you do now, here in Arlington. The funny thing? I've even asked them (tricked them into admitting), "Reminds me of some of the places in Cordova, don't you agree?" and they come right back with, "Yes! I get so tired of how incompetent some of the places are out there." This, coming from a patron who was actually causing the problem to begin with. I feel bad when a staff for a restaurant has to deal with that. Those types want to be waited on every second and forget the other diners around them. Ah, but I'm ranting! Point in general: this place is probably one of the best of the El Mezcal locations in the Memphis metro area. From management to kitchen staff to wait staff. They're consistently great. Some of the customers out here? Well...you just have to deal with them....cause I don't think they're going anywhere. read more

This Phoenician was happy! Ordered Chicken Tortilla soup and (Off menu? I couldn't find them, but they let me order one just the same!) a chicken tostada. While waiting, chips and salsa. Chips were super thin, crispy, warm and lightly salted (perfection), salsa was fresh, on the mild side of medium and had great flavor. Soup was outstanding, they were generous with the avocado. Since there are only two Mexican restaurants in Arlington this one has to be my favorite. The food is always good every time I go, which is quite a bit. It is always consistent and I have a couple of favorite items. They have a variety of menu items from enchiladas to chimichangas to fajitas and a full bar with yummy margaritas. The service is friendly and quick. They seat you immediately and the food also comes out really quickly. It is a clean and enjoyable atmosphere. They also have a couple of TVs with sports playing. Overall I love this place and I will continue coming here and enjoying a chicken burrito with rice and beans! read more

Happy Cinco de Mayo folks! Been here once before and didn't think like it then...still don't like this place. Had the mixed fajitas today - bland and no taste, and I really like my fajitas sizzlin'. Rice and beans - bland and no taste also. The best part of the lunch today was my soda and the salt I put on everything! This is the other Mexican place in Arlington. The chips were crispy and fresh as is the medium heat salsa. I got the steak fajita nachos, substitute the chips for rice. The service was great even for a busy night. Always a good eating experience. read more

This place...is awesome. I love to come here to chill and eat good and cheap for dinner. El Mezcal is a one of a kind Mexican restaurant, with good food, quick and friendly service that compliments you a lot. I ain't never seen Mexican food taste this good either. I love their tacos, and they fill their drinks up all the way too, so s refill may not be necessary. I love to come here with some family. One of the Mezcals even knows my cousin real well, so our family has a good history with family too. Four Stars. Eat here if you want good food, and don't want a large bill for quality food. read more

We always go here ... The service was terrible tonight and they weren't even busy. The Fajitas we ordered were suppose to be beef and chicken they were only chicken and when we complained the waitress rolled her eyes. Also the kids pizza was microwaved so I had to send that back. I think she may have wrote the ticket in English bc obviously the cook didn't understand. Needless to say we won't b back ! read more
