Fast service & good food. Very reasonable prices. The staff is super friendly. Easy & close parking. While the food is not something you will find in a five star hotel, it's full of flavor and you just cannot beat the prices. We frequent this restaurant. I recommend it for a quick dinner, on those nights you either forgot to defrost the meat, or decided it's just too hot to fire up the grill. The service was absolutely atrocious! Let's start off at the beginning, we sat down nobody talked or offer drinks at all for 10 minutes we had to wave down a waiter. Once our waited showed up... ps: it was the manager once she came we ordered and she had an attitude the all night like she knew all and eveyone else knew nothing. Food took over 45 minutes, they brought two plate out of 8 and then took them away. Once all 8 plates came it took them 10 minutes to get tortilla, and all the sides! Food was cold, raw onion on a quesadilla, WAY too salty, and on our meals with shrimp there was only 2-3. We tried to talk with the manager and she was not receptive at all she rolled her eyes and told me to shut up and stop talking. Once that was said another group member said we are not trying to be overwhelming but there were some issues with our meals and wondering what we can do to make it better! The manager said NOTHING!! It's the classic Mexican style restaurant. Colorfully decorated walls and beautiful chairs. The menu is pretty standard for around here. What sets this place apart from other Mexican restaurants in this area is the service. We had multiple servers checking on us throughout the meal. We were surprised by the portion sizes compared to local restaurants. They were large but somehow less expensive than another restaurant a mile away. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and prices amazing. We have found our go to Mexican restaurant. Give them a try, you won't regret it! read more

The food and service is wonderful it's just pricey. However most places are now. But makes it so we eat there less often. We almost always get it to go and the order is almost always correct. Some of the best Mexican food I've had. Giant margarita special had excellent smoky mescally tequila. Chile relleno was buttery and crisp. Flour tortillas that came with pablano fajitas had an excellent smoky fire-grilled taste. Both chips and salsa were homemade and excellent. Generous portions. After living in Guadalajara Mexico for six months and in Chicago for years, plus visiting Mexico and other cities with authentic Mexican food, I have to say that this restaurant definitely impresses me with their food, drink and service. My favorite thing to order are tacos. I recommend asking them to use two corn tortillas for each taco that way you can eat one over top of the extra tortilla and end up with an extra taco from whatever drops while you're eating. I read a few reviews on Yelp. Most reviews were pretty positive so I decided to give it a shot. The interior of the restaurant is like typical Mexican restaurants. They had some cool art on the walls. The waitress was very friendly. Another server brought our chips and salsa. He was friendly too. I feel I need to stress that because I read some reviews saying otherwise. The chips and salsa were great. I got an order of queso to go with it. Quite delicious! Some places make it too runny. Very diverse menu and quick service. I ordered the vegetable fajita, and it had several types of vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, etc.), not just onions and bell peppers, however, some veggies were slightly burnt. The waitress and greeter are extremely friendly, and they were attentive (refilled water, asked if we wanted more salsa, etc.) The atmosphere is bright and there is a lot of art on the walls. We agree with what everybody else said. It's a hidden gem, I real hole in the wall, out in the middle of well, nowhere. The vegetables were very fresh, the warm chipsand freshly chopped salsa were a nice touch. They have a good size number of vegetarian options. I ordered the vegetable fajitas with my choice of tortillas, which were corn. there were three kinds of bell peppers, squash, two kinds of onions, mushrooms and more. I stay in Tuscola for work a few times a year and usually head to Monicals for dinner. I asked the gal at the hotel if there were any other places in town besides Dennys or Pizza Slut and she suggested El Patro. Nothing against Monicals but I wanted to try something new in a three or four restaurant town. The decor is small town quaint, clean and homey. They have some soccer jerseys on the wall behind the bar. The staff is friendly and attentive. The standard starter chips and salsa was good, chips were warmed up which I think is a nice touch. I got the enchiladas verdes dinner and was very happy with it. The rice wasn't dried out like most Mexican restaurants unfortunately, and the enchaladas and green sauce were very good. This restaurant serves great food. It is always packed full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. My favorite dish Is two fried steak enchiladas with cheese. It comes just like it sounds. The perfectly cooked steak is packed inside a fried tortilla and seasoned to perfection, With the best tasting cheese poured on top. I only gave Los Potros four stars because the waiter I had was difficult to understand, due to his thick accent. As well as the time it took for the food to arrive. The best Mexican food hands down I've ever had. The chips were warm. The salsa tasted like it was freshly made. The burrito I had with beef tips and red sauce was perfect. I would eat that red sauce on anything it was so wonderful. My girlfriend had fajitas and she was so thrilled also. The food was served so fast. Fantastic! A lot of places can't do tamales but the tamales tipicos are on point. Chunky salsa is good. Great place to eat.
