A couple of friends and I were trying to find a last minute place to grab some food for lunch. This was one of the few places open in the area on a Monday. Didn't really have any expectations for this place. Surprisingly, they had a good number of seafood options, which I'm always thankful for. Their shrimp tacos were okay. They were more on the salty side. Rice and salad were standard. They had some drinks that they offer which were not on the menu so just ask if you're curious. There's parking right outside, seating indoors and outdoors, they can split the check, but I think that service could have been better because it was a bit dodgy at times. ok so i ordered tamales and they were bad(1st time trying them) so i told the waiter i didn't like them and they made me pay 10.76 so one bite. service was mediocre. My friend ordered enchiladas and they said they served 2 but it was 1 portion from the kids menu and it was front the main menu. Servers very defensive and showed up to work unready 2 work and like they were working but mad when a customer came. read more

So I have this place 5 stars because it's the only good Mexican food I have found after moving here about a year ago Champaign-Urban has weird Mexican food in my opinion. Not terrible really but something is always off. This place is new and Thank God somebody finally opened a good place. It has been such a long run since I had good Mexican food! I have a few requirements for gringo Mexican places: First, good chips and salsa. Great here. Second, good margarita, check. Good guacamole, yup! Some of the best I've had anywhere and very fresh tasting. Finally, don't slap mole/enchilada sauce on everything. Well, so so. I think a chimi should have queso not enchilada sauce but here's the thing, the sauce was the only one I've ever liked. It was really good. Check this place out...or don't. I'm worried I will not be able to get a table when the secret is out. read more

I had the fajita burrito it was the best burrito I ever had the salsa is excellent chips are fresh guacamole perfect I took what was left of the guacamole and put it on top of the burrito which already had queso sauce on it then I put a little bit of salsa on top of that it was unbelievably delicious. read more

My first time, and everything from the food to the service was exceptional. I truly enjoyed the salsa and chips here better than some other Mexican restaurants I have dined at because the chips were fresh and warm and the salsa was excellent. The cheese sauce was also very tasty, and again enjoyed it better than some others I have tried. I enjoyed a chimichanga meal with shredded beef and it was very tasty, the lettuce and accompaniments were also fresh and delicious. Small and clean. Food was fresh and came out quickly. Not a lot of ambiance, but very quaint. Had the fajita nachos and my wife had the mushroom quesadilla and both were pretty good. Cheese dip was a little runny, but tasted great. Service was great. read more

My 2 year old son and I came to each lunch today and disappointing is an understatement. Our cheese dip came out luke warm at best. I ordered a single beef taco with only cheese for my son, and I ordered a single chicken shredded taco with cheese and lettuce for myself. When the meal arrived I cut my sons taco in half to make it easier for him to hold. Immediately I noticed the meat was undercooked and brought it to the attention of the waitress. I showed her the taco and expressed that I didn't think it was fully cooked, she told me yes it was, that's how it's made and if I wanted, she could bring us out another one. (Because she told me that's how it is made, I decided no, we didn't want another one but my son also wouldn't be eating the one he was served. ) I gave him my chicken taco instead. After a while another server approached us and asked how everything was. I told him we will not be eating the beef taco because I didn't think it was fully cooked. He proceeded to tell me that yes it was, the meat turns pink in some pieces because they cook it with tomatoes and chili powder. (Let me point out that I LOVE to cook and when I make actual chili for a meal, a meal that has a ton of tomatoes and chili seasoning, my meat is NOT slimy pink, but apparently their cooking methods are special) I also find it surprising that their beef tacos are cooked with tomatoes and chili spices that keep the meat brown and pink, yet their shredded chicken tacos taste like boiled chicken that is shredded immediately before being placed on the tortilla. Not a speck of pink. Very disappointed in our lunch today. And more disappointed that the servers were so defensive when I pointed out a concern. We ate 1 chicken taco, had a couple sips of our drinks and ate about 6 chips with barely warm cheese sauce and spent $11.25 plus tip of $2.00. We will not be back, but will drive to the south side of town to that Mexican restaurant for our taco cravings for now on. read more

The food was good and tasty. The only thing that bothered me was that the waitress offered the choice of cheese dip when she served the chips before we even sat down and before we had the menu. You would think it is just one of the dips that they provide and perhaps it is their courtesy. It turned out the dip costs extra $3.99 and no one ever mentioned that to us until we got the check. I would appreciate a lot more if they can tell us before serving it. How can you expect people to know it without giving people the menu first or perhaps just mentioning it????? read more
