There was the perfect amount of dressing and the ratios were great! For an entree, my friends and I decided to split the Mia Margherita and the Fico pies. Lord Almighty, Daniel was the best server I've had the privilege of dining with in years! I couldn't even THINK of a drink refill before turning my head and he was there with a fresh one. He also had solid dinner recommendations and was super nice and welcoming to our family (including 2 kids under 5). Job well done. Of course, great service means nothing if the food doesn't back it up, and thankfully it did. I really enjoyed my steak pasta; my wife enjoyed her soup, and the kids ate their chicken tenders (for what that's worth). We were in town for a conference and a local recommended Mia Margherita, so we decided to give it a try. It was a Friday night and the place was packed. The host told us the wait would be about 30 to 40 minutes, but there happened to be two open seats at the bar, so we agreed to sit there instead. The restaurant is not very large inside, so I can understand why there was a wait. We sat at the end of the bar. The seats weren't originally side by side but they moved one chair so we could sit together and it worked out fine. The sign says they're a coal fired pizzeria, and their menu definitely reflects that. They offer a lot more than your standard pepperoni or sausage pizza. There were several artisan options and honestly it was hard to choose. For an appetizer we ordered the Chips & Gorgonzola. My friend asked what Gorgonzola was, and although I knew it was cheese, I completely forgot how similar it is to blue cheese, which she doesn't usually like. This ended up being a pleasant surprise because the Gorgonzola aioli had more of a tart bite than typical blue cheese, and she actually enjoyed it. When it came to the pizza, I knew I wanted something different from the usual topping combinations. I narrowed it down to three: Il Fico (the fig pizza), the Bacon, Grape & Gorgonzola. I asked the bartender what he recommended, and he suggested the Bacon, Grape & Gorgonzola. I mentioned I was torn between that and the fig pizza. He hadn't tried the fig one, so he couldn't compare, but he said he really liked the bacon and grape. I didn't even think about the fact that I'd already had Gorgonzola in my appetizer, but I went with it anyway. I have to say, it was an interesting combination in a good way. The Gorgonzola balanced out the sweetness of the grapes, and the pizza was cooked well with good flavor. It's probably not something I'd order every visit, but I'm glad I tried it once. My friend ordered the chicken parmesan and seemed happy with hers too. For dessert, we ordered the petit fours sampler. They came as little cakes set on cupcake wrappers with a raspberry glaze drizzled across the plate. Beautiful presentation. The cakes were soft and moist but incredibly sweet. We ended up dragging them through the raspberry glaze to add some tartness, which helped a lot. Without the glaze, I think they would have been too sweet to finish. Overall, we had a really good experience. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and genuinely tried to make sure we enjoyed our meal. So glad I got to this area and found these guys here. I just wish they were closer to me. The place was clean and the decor was nice. The servers were great and didn't hover or come to often. Now for what I was waiting for, the food. The pizza was wonderful. Fresh ingredients in each bite. You could taste each ingredient as they complimented each other so well. The sauce is not spicy, not sweet, it's perfect. The pepperoni is great quality along with the cheese and you can taste it. The margherita was well made. Now the meatballs, they were to die for. I've had a lot of meatballs but these beat all the others. It was tender yet had a great bite to it. They were juicy and full of flavor. The cheese in the bowl and that sauce, perfection. Stopped in for lunch on the way to the airport. Glad we did, even though we had to Wait about ten minutes. We had several dishes amongst our group. 2 spaghetti and meatballs, two steak calzones (each prepared slightly differently) and a steak panini. They started us with their "bread" it was fantastic with the table olive oil, spices and parmesan. Each of our dishes were well prepared and great tasting. We had plenty of leftovers too! We came for brunch and they do offer a limited brunch menu along with their regular meal options. It was pretty packed on this Sunday but we didn't wait long at all to be seated. We were seated outside on the patio near the door. I ordered the French Toast and some bacon. The French Toast was cooked perfectly. My issue with the food was the homemade syrup they used, they added it directly on the toast instead of allowing me to add it which made it a little soggy. I like to add my own to make sure I get enough evenly distributed as I'm eating to prevent sogginess. The fruit was fruit and added a nice tartness to the dish we well. I'm not sure I would venture back here and sit outside because the wasps were literally everywhere. The pizza looks amazing, too. However, I was in the mood for some type of pasta. The pasta dish is $18 and the focaccia is $12. There's enough food here for leftovers. Menu has quite a selection of appetizers. Calamari and stuffed peppers make an appearance, but it was the meatballs that drew my interest. I also was in the mood for wi gs, so I got three of each, the limoncello marinated, and the "hot" wings. The pizzas come in various sizes, and consist of selections divided into red or white pizzas, with a "build your own" section. Several seemed enticing, but I went with an 8 inch signature margherita pizza, the italian wedding soup, wings, meatballs, and pizza. I needed to eat this much because in the words of Chris Farley: "LAY OFF ME IM STARVING!....diet starts monday." Here are the cliffs notes I have for the items I ordered, I'm writing this in half a food coma, so this will have to do. Italian Wedding Soup. 1 cup portion. Heavy but fresh garlic flavor. Pleasant texture all around. Very meaty with shredded chicken Seasoned well One dimensional in the broth and the pastina is so minuscule in this dish one could be forgiven for mistaking it for couscous. Meatballs: Nice "cooked in the sauce" texture. Moist and pleasing. Appropriately seasoned, with well blended herbal presence. Balances nicely with the acidity of the sauce. The ricotta balls on crostini clash though. They're not bad but it's like caraway or anise made it's way into the dish. I think this detracts from the dish. I would opine that the only ornamento a plate of Italian meatballs needs is a torn piece of good bread, some shavings (or finely grated) Pecorino Romano, and generous freshly torn basil. But I get it. Wings: Oven fired, in limoncello marinade and hot varieties. Flavor wise these are on point, but they suffer from the plague of nearly all oven made wings, that flappy, flabby, is it chicken wing or elbow skin? Texture. No dipping sauce can save these. Hard pass. Pizza. Delightful thin crust, with good crust blistering and adequate char, though slightly uneven. Basil shines nicely in the pesto, and the crust has a nice and well-developed toothsome crumb to it. Thin crust holds up well to the amount of sauce, which is full of tomato flavor without the typical sharpness of an overly acidic tomato brew. The cheese is easily outshined by the other ingredients bringing this little number together. But it is not the star of the show anyways. With the crust and basil and tomato sauce this was a very pleasing margherita pizza. The bill for my meal came out to just under $40 including the tip. The service was friendly and attentive and prompt. And the restaurant was clean and presentable, indicating that they take care of the place. Overall the verdict: Would I come here again? Yes, occasionally. For the pizza. That is where the place shines. The other menu items I tried do best as being described simply as "not the pizza." So, bring a friend, ask for one of the cozy booths, and enjoy one big pizza (or two little ones) to share. read more

I was in town for a conference at the Bridgeport Convention center and needed a place within walking distance so hit up Mia for dinner. The place was busy, not overcrowded but lively and I found a hightop table by the bar. I was intrigued by the local live entertainer who played Tom Petty, some country/pop rock and the stand out song had to be Prince's Little Red Corvette. Once I'd sang a few bars along with him (silently in my head) I got down to ordering. First, this appears to be a pizza place so I probably should have gone that route but since I'd been traveling I just felt like I needed something different. Lots of pasta options, some salads and sandwiches and chicken dishes gave me plenty to choose from. I selected the garbanzo chicken pasta (minus the garbanzos) with tomatoes, peppers and mushrooms in a light creme sauce along with a house salad (tomatoes, olives, oil dressing) When I think Italian, I think seasoning and garlic, the salad and entree lacked both-at least in noticeable quantities. I generously peppered and salted the salad which helped but overall wanted more punch-perhaps an oil vinegar combo would have been better-but it was sorta bland. The chicken pasta dish arrived and looked AMAZING! I settled in for what I anticipated would be sheer creamy goodness. Again, I prefer punch and flavor-unfortunately this dish had neither. As well, the chicken was overcooked and stringy. Disappointed I added salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes from the pizza shaker-this helped a bit but still was not enough. The penne pasta was cooked right and the sauce was of good consistency-just lacked flavor. By this time, the local guitar man was out on smoke break so the dinner landed with a thud. Now, let me say again, this place appears to be known for their pizza-should have gone that route as some amazing looking pies passed by my table during what I thought was a Joe Walsh side "B" tune which filled me with a bit of ordering regret and musical intrigue. I'd give Mia another shot-but next time would order the pizza. read more

The salad was colorful and served with a delicious anchovy dressing. The kale was fresh but would be easier to eat if it was served in smaller cut up Portions.
