I was down in Miami Beach celebrating my 50th birthday and wanted to do something different. A friend and I decided to try eFoiling, and after some searching, I found Miami Beach Paddleboard online and booked a session. We met our instructor, Maria, and her mom, who came along for the ride. Maria was awesome--happy, full of energy, and super easy to work with. Our original session was scheduled for Saturday, but when we arrived, the eFoil boards were having connectivity issues with their app. Maria apologized and said she'd check in with the shop owner to see if we could reschedule. In the meantime, she let us use paddleboards for free, so we still got to enjoy some time on the water. The next morning (Sunday), Maria texted to say everything was working again, so we headed back for a noon session--and it was an absolute blast. She even took some great videos of us out on the water. Definitely recommend booking a class with Maria! read more

Wanted to get a paddle in to knock the travel off. Easy pickup and short 5 minute walk across street to the bayside park with paddle only boat ramp. Dropped in paddled around some decrepit boats moored right near super yachts. They rent you everything you need including waterproof telephone holder $5 rent $10 you own it. Owner or manager was very helpful. Equipment is inflatable only. I have never been on an inflatable until today, only epoxy. It is much lighter to walk with, that is the only plus over epoxy. They are hard to sup if any wind or bump vs epoxy. On this day it was 92 and super humid so only paddled about an hour. Time well spent. I bookmarked for next time I am in South Beach. read more

The one drawback about this place is that you have to carry the paddleboard from where you check-in to the bay. It's doable but some people may not be used to carrying such a heavy contraption, uh, paddleboard a block long. The concierge at my hotel told me about this spot (see my Yelp review on the Goodtime hotel). She suggested I get the Groupon which was $7.00 for the hour. But to use the Groupon you have to purchase 24 hours in advance before you can redeem it. Due to my schedule I decided to go at the last minute and paid $30. After you check-in the staff provides quick instructions on how to use the paddleboard. The instructions were pretty good but didn't prepare me for the waves. Fortunately, I purchased one of their dry bags to put my phone and wallet in so when I fell into Biscayne Bay, my contents were kept dry! So my pro tip is, when the waves come paddle through them quickly and you'll be fine. read more

I went paddle-boarding on Thursday afternoon and we rented our paddle-boards from here. We had a great time! The customer service was good and we were explained the routing very well. The paddle-boards and equipment were also very good quality! It was a fun and active time. The canals you go through are great for sightseeing pretty houses. My only suggestion would be is to have someone that helps you carry the paddle-boards across the street to the marina. It's not a big deal and I would do it again anyway but it does get very tiring, especially on the way back from paddle-boarding when you get back. This is just baaically something to keep in mind as well if you're going to paddle from the Sunset Harbor Marina. If someone isn't very athletic it could be an issue for them! I would give this place a 3.5 The kayaking itself and location was beautiful and I couldn't have been more happy with the scenery. BUT calling the people and scheduling a slot was a headache itself. **Heads up** They only have ONE tandem kayak available. I called about it and was told by a guy with a heavy accent that it was already taken and they close at 7. I called again the next day and he said he couldn't reserve it. It was first come first serve. When I got there, he said it was about to be taken out in 30 minutes which made me ask him how, if he told me I couldn't reserve it. He then told me if you come in person and pay it, then it's yours. So I just asked if I could pay now and go after the other people came back. The view: You get to go on the bay, see the city skyline, there's a island in the middle which is like a party island from what I saw. Other boats docked. We went under a bridge between apartments. Just be careful because there are also a lot of jet skis out there too so they will be zooming by. Pretty much open water for you to explore. I'm use to more of a forest, trees everywhere, grassland and different river paths to take. Overall: I wish he would have told me the first time over the phone about the tandem. It would have saved me so much time trying to contact them, knowing I wanted the tandem. But he was nice to carry and explain how to get the cart with the wheels attached to the tandem and where to go. We came back a little over 1 hr, and he didn't charge us for the extra 15 minutes out there. Tip: I was told that they only take cash. You can reserve the single kayaks but not the tandem. Also if you check in, you get a discount which I didn't know until after I paid :-( read more

I cannot recommend this place at all. I booked a 90 minute sunset tour via Groupon. I had to reach out multiple times (called and texted) to see if it was still happening due to bad weather. Had I not persistently reached out, I would have not been informed in a timely manner. You can see in the texts attached with the owner. I had to reach out to see if the tour was still happening. After I reached out, the owner told me he would notify me by 3-4 pm. He did not reach out to tell me it was cancelled and I had to text him again. The owner also yelled at me in the shop, told me to leave, and was extremely rude. This business is extremely unprofessional. The tour guide was trying to provide good customer service, however the owner was so rude. Please don't provide this institution with business. read more

This little gem is always a easy and quick place to rent all your water activities (Kayaks, paddles boards, etc.) and they have a park lot lot (metered) right across from it and where you would paddle out. PROTIP: I would go early morning (9-11am and get started before noon) it tends to be quieter and less people on the doc. PROTIP: you can pack a little cooler with snacks and bevs that can fit comfortably in your single or dual kayak. The customer service is amazing and the calendaring for the rentals is easy. I have done this sunset glow paddleboarding tour three times already. The experience depends mainly on the instructor and the weather. Fortunately all three times I've gone the weather has been good even after raining all day. My biggest complaint this last time was two things... 1. The experience is supposed to begin right before sunset but the instructor was slow on getting everyone together and out and we literally hit the water as the sunset was ending. The best picture of the sunset I got was before getting on the board. And 2. The instructor didn't check that the lights under the paddleboard worked before heading into the water. So when it got dark and he began turning them on about half didn't work, including mine. I was not happy. Those two things are the main reason why the experience is worthwhile. Without that you are just paying for an overpriced tour of the bay at night. I had one tour where the tour guide was a aggressive at the beginning but got everyone out in the water quickly, was very precise with his directions as to where to meet, made sure to take pics of us individually and with our groups and made sure all of our lights turned on. For this reason I gave it 3 stars instead of two. But the fact is that not everyone is trained the same way as my last experience assured me of. They need to have more sociable tour guides with better customer service specially since this attracts tourists. If you go make sure to have the tour guide check you paddleboard light before heading out. Bring a waterproof case for your phone so you can take pictures. And buy it on Groupon. read more

If I could could give this 0 stars I would. I was given a kayak without the plug in it, spent 45 minutes in the water towing a boat that was barely floating to begin with (having taken on water). Luckily I was not alone, do not trust this business they do not know what they are doing and did nothing to help us get out of the water. I have been here twice and had a wonderful time both times. They give you a locker with a key to put your stuff, and someone can take a picture of you on your paddleboard to send over after so you don't have to bring your phone on the water. I did two hours and it gave plenty of time to explore the canals, see the beautiful houses, and just lie on the paddleboard and enjoy the calm canal waters. Decent experience for paddleboard rental, but the boards are all inflatable, not real soft-top or epoxy. I purchased a groupon for a 2 hour paddleboard rental, called and scheduled a slot for the following day and they were very accommodating. Once I got there, I signed a waiver and then was provided with a paddleboard, however it was an inflatable board which is very unusual. They don't paddle as well, and alot harder to paddle on as well as being rather unstable. None of us were given maps or directions on where to go, so we basically all just randomly paddled around, which is kind of dangerous. The person doing the paperwork was very nice. read more

A group of friends and I got a Groupon for this. It was $19 for a 2 hour rental. I got there at around 12:45 and I had to wait for my other friends because they took a while to get there (If you're doing this with a group, make sure everyone gets there on time. If not, you'll get time taken out of your rental). So we get our boards and get lifejackets (these are optional, but highly recommended). We make our way to dock and get in the water (it's more like a marina/canal. you won't be on a beach). There was a guy that put the band around our ankle and then pushed us in the water. From there you're on your own. I was freaking out. The guy even had to swim out and help me. My advice: If you're afraid of water, don't do this. If you really want to try, I suggest lessons or classes. If you can't swim, I suggest taking lessons for that too. Even though you'll be wearing a life jacket, it's still pretty risky. Other than that, this is a fun activity if you're down to get a workout and get some breathtaking views. As for me, I don't think i'll be paddle boarding for a while. read more

Not for first time paddle boarders! My husband and I went here to try SUP for the first time. The guy in the office simply took our ID, handed us paddle boards, and told showed us a map of how to cross the street and get to the pier. There were no instructions or guidance. Also, the paddle boards are a little heavy, so if you lack strength or have young kids, it will be a challenge, since the walk to the pier is about 3-5 minutes. The paddle boarding itself was fun, albeit nerve wrecking, since there was no one to show us what to do and no one at the pier to help. Also, my ankle strap was not functional. The Velcro to fasten it was completely worn out, so I had to try to tie it around my leg and hope for the best. When I came back and informed the guy about the equipment defect, he simply said "I know". I wouldn't recommend this place as there are many other places to paddle board. read more

During the summer of 2013, my friend and I were PROPERLY INSTRUCTED on the usage, HAD LIFE VESTS, were taken to the dock and ASSISTED. WE HAD A GREAT TIME. During 2013, My friend did complain that it was hard to reach the company by phone as it related to booking. She also expressed her issue regarding scheduling and her concern that her purchases were going to expire with Camilo. He was VERY UNDERSTANDING AND ACCOMMODATING. I believe they were overwhelmed with their Groupon sales and did not have the system in place for appointment scheduling. FAST FORWARD to the summer of 2014. Since I FELT COMFORTABLE I purchased multiple Living Social promotions to get my $10.00 deals. I have BEEN 100% SATISFIED with booking (you do it online) and even though I have returned on various occasions I am always given a pre-paddleboarding lesson. ALL OF THE EQUIPMENT IS TOP NOTCH & IN GREAT CONDITION (life vests- complete with whistles). Yes reaching them by phone may be challenging but they do text (786-428-4402), can be reached by email miamibeachpaddleboard@gmail.com or you can visit the location (THEY ARE NOT M-I-A). So far I find the workers (in particular Lara and Camilo) at this location VERY PROFESSIONAL, understanding and accommodating within reason. One more thing - do try their SUNSET GLOW TOURS, OMG, my friends and I had such AN UNFORGETTABLE TIME. It was awesome. PRO: Clean equipment + friendly staff CON: 1. There is NO BEACH + NO LIFEGUARD + NO PEOPLE around. 2.You have to carry your paddle + board (20lbs) at least 10 min each way to the actual marina. 3. If you fall in and you cant swim you will likely drown + no one would know, so if you feel good about that then go for it. 4. Again, it's the lack of supervision & guidance for me. It's not worth the price. 5. It's really for intermediate to advanced swimmers / paddle boarders. 6. I would NOT RECOMMEND this business to anyone. I highly suggest everyone google the location before you go to see it's exact proximity from the beach. I would highly recommend you go somewhere else that is actually on the beach with people around. Did the sunset tour with Pat at this location. It was so much fun! The boards are slightly heavy and you do have to walk to the marina area and back but honestly it was a good time anyway. It's a physical activity so if you can't handle picking up the board then why even try to do the paddle boarding itself!? Alls i can say was i had a blast learning and chatting up the 2 guides ine female and a male, was kinda of intimidating launching out into these huge body of water a Harbor facing Downtown Miami, from South beach. First thimg was that they gave me a peace of mind with a waterproof case for my phone( dropped my phone in ocean before in Mexico‍‍) then upon entering water after a quick lesson our group of 4 paddled out on our knees and butts, about 1,000 yds with lots of choppy water, but still felt safe for me as a first timer, then we rested and found smooth water in a channel, lined with multi million dollar waterfront homes, most with boats attached that cost more then the average home lol, there we gained confidence to stand and paddle and at the end of the tour we had relaxed, chilled, communcated life storys, and snapped pics, lesrned how to become decent novice paddle boarders,the guides do a great job of multi tasking on the water they provided amazing photos that can be air dropped to your group highly recommended. Water is crazy warm coming from the left coast thats not normal. Give these guys a shot so fun. read more

I had purchased a groupon for both Kayaking and Paddleboarding, online reservation was easy and shop was located close to the water. The gentleman I dealt with was great, I had already done both activities so I can't speak to their level of instruction. The SUPB was an inflateable one (high quality and great steadiness for beginners) and the kayak was an open one (not my preference, but best for most newer people). The material was all in great condition and the board was easy to transport, I only wish they would have provided further instruction on how to set the kayak on it's wheeling thing because it feel off 2-3 times as I went to return it. The are in which he sent me (through the fancy a** houses) offered calm waters, all kinds of beautiful views and i even spotted a few wildlife from crabs and lizards to a manatee that went under my board! The cost was reasonable even at full price and I was impressed at the service level I received despite coming in via groupon as a "discount" customer. Would definitely book another session of SUPB with them when I return to Miami. read more

My sister and I took an hour long tour by ourselves, they showed us how everything works in a couple of minutes and escorted us to the water. From there, we were on our own.
