With family in town, my boyfriend and I wanted to make sure that their jet ski experience was the best it could be to cap off their trip in Miami. I could write 5 pages of my thoughts about this company, but here are the highlights: - several employees were very rude. The most so being Melvin. We did have a complication with our order, but he was dismissive, short tempered and severely unprofessional. With so many competitors on the beach, i would expect someone to be more respectful and customer service oriented. 2 couples walked away because he was ignoring them. -Andy was extremely helpful in resolving our situation and spoke to us like people. I really appreciated this and give him 5 stars. You can't beat their location and the ambiance at mid-beach. I called around all of Miami Beach looking for jet ski rentals for the New Year's Day 2012. Almost no one was open and if they were open they did not call or text me back. I called these guys and they texted me back immediately that they were open and they answered all my questions via text message. They have two brown huts on the beach and accept credit card. There is street parking and a private parking lot parking across from the Days Inn, which is right by where these guys are. There is no deposit for the jet skis and you just pay and ride on a first come first serve basis. I had a blast and it was great that there was only a few other jet skiers or yachts to avoid. Fyi, I think holding on to the jet ski will actually gave me the added benefit of a little bit of a workout! I had a ton of fun on the water and highly recommend this place. read more

I would recommend if you know for a fact that you want to go jet skiing DO THE ONLINE BOAT TEST AT LEAST 1hr or more before you head up to the place. It's on their website, it's about 25 questions must get a 76% to passed. One question at a time and you can not go back to old questions. Extremely fun and total recommend Miami BeachSports (also check Groupon days in advance) If you buy a Groupon it takes long than 2 hours like it says. I have been to Miami beach before and for anyone else that's familiar, you'll know that the company "Boucher Brothers" is lined up all along south beach. (Boucher Brother rates for jet skis: $85/half an hour and $170/hour). I've paid their $170 before and wasn't looking forward to paying it again! After searching and searching, I found a groupon for Miami Beach Sports for $109/hour on jet skis plus 2 lounge chairs! I saved so much money!! Upon entering their premises they took my bags and shoes and offered to place it in their booth for me while my boyfriend and I went on the jet skis. This was a big plus for me because last time (at Boucher brothers) someone stole my shoes because I wasn't allowed to hold my belongings in their booth. Regarding the bad review below me; if you call and it goes to voicemail, don't hang up and listen to it. They offer a different number to call. It was a wonderful jet ski experience for two. I saw the offer on Groupon and couldn't resist when it was $80 for a 1-hour rental, which is an amazing deal! The deal does not include the boating exam, but you can find the exam on boat-ed.com for $10. The exam is 25 questions, and you are unable to go back to previous questions. The certificate is needed to ride the jet skis. You will see other Groupon offers for $5-$20 but in the fine print, it states taxes, gas, and exam are not included, which totals more than $90. So in the end, those are not worth the price. Be sure to check out the Groupon offer; however, it is first come first serve. We arrived at 4 pm, the last ride out is at 5 pm, and we still had to complete the boating exam. So a heads up, you should complete the exam prior to your arrival. We were able to complete the exam and get into the water before the final ride call, but you don't want to risk it, just in case others show up. I highly recommend it!! read more

Me and my cousin came here during our vacation! The guys that work in the hut are sarcastic, funny, but know what they are talking about. Some people expect people to kiss ass but they don't they tell you how it is and I can respect that. I was scared to ride since I can't swim good and I heard the storm was coming through. One of the guys offered to drive me around since I was too scared and it was fun! Got to go fast and he did a couple of donuts. If your going to drive make sure you pass the test you only get one try. They have a deal online for $20 off if you go to their website. They are ok. It wasn't my first time on jet ski. It was $155 an hour. They let you go out by yourself. It's easy to find I just walked down the beach and looked for the tan hut. The thing that pissed me off is they told me that we had to stay between 2 buildings so basically I would just zip down and then turn around. I want a bigger area where I'm not confined between 2 buildings. Also even with sunglasses you might get saltwater in your eye. If you bring a bag, you can leave it in the hut. read more

I truly wish I could say I had a great experience, just as everyone that has previously reviewed has claimed. Nope, here's how it all went down. My husband and I went to another jet ski place where we were told no skis were available for another 2 hours. So we looked to yelp for another alternative and found these guys. Good reviews. Only 5 miles away. Ok. No problem. BEFORE we left we called. As soon as I heard it go to voicemail I hung up. I start driving towards their way. A few minutes later called again. Again, no answer. At this point I pulled over and thought, they must be busy, they won't have any skis available. So we pull out the iPad, look for other places when all of a sudden I get a text. "Hi. Jet skis are open." Alright! I respond, "ok, on our way. 2 ppl". I got the gps on, and I'm rolling. Two miles to go down Collins wasn't easy. I maneuvered my way around slow taxis, people jumping in front trying to cross the street. Ok so we get there. Confused because all we see is hotels. We text back and ask for parking recommendations. Their response is to be on the lookout for the parking garage across the street from the holiday inn. Ok cool. So we finally find it. We have a huge SUV and didn't find parking until the very last floor. I put on my bathing suit. We walk across the street, and navigate our way around to the beach. At this time we receive a message saying their next opening is at 6pm. What? We keep walking and We see this hut looking thing, there is no sign and we assume it's them because we see some jet skis coming up near them. They are slam packed. People are surrounding them. I'm confused. Did we really go through all of this and have to wait for three hours? I call the number that's been texting me to see who inside the hut will either answer or text back. My call goes unanswered and I couldn't tell who has been communicating with me. We are pissed. Beyond pissed. What was the point of calling in advance, and communicating with this guy the whole way saying "jet skis are open" for us to get there and this not be true? I thought there is no way they are going to do this to us. My husband is pissed and he says, "let's just go" and a few other things. This is the censored version. I text back furious and have them a piece of my mind. We head back to the car. Whoever I had been texting NOW decides to call and talk to me. I was undecided whether or not I should answer. My husband told me not to. But I answered hoping he'd try to make things up and get us on the skis. Nope, that's not what happened. He tries to apologize saying he can't help people showing up... Bla bla bla. Ok fine. So I ask, "let me ask you something. What could I have done differently to ensure this wouldn't have happened? I called BEFORE hand, no answer. You text us and basically say we're good to go. We say we're on our way. We even ask you about parking. We get here and you want us to wait three hours?" He literally tried to turn it around on me and say "I couldn't have done anything differently either." And it gets better. This guy has the nerve to mock me and undermine me. I tell him that I own my own business and basically laughs. Saying oh really? And questioning me. Let me tell you something @sshole: I have ten years of customer service experience, a bachelors degree, an international business major, and owned my own business for two years. I can't make everyone happy, I would lie if I said that, but 99% of my customers are satisfied and when they are not I bend over backwards to make it up to them. Because I wouldn't be where I am,nor would I have what I have without them. You guys take that for grant it now. You're customers may nearly all be tourists and that's the only thing keeping you in business. If you relied on customer loyalty and locals, you'd be in some serious trouble. And maybe that's what it would take for you to get your sh*t together. Here's some additional notes: the reason we called is to find out what kind of skis they had, what their rates were, etc. we couldn't get this information because no one answered. And clearly, because of the text messages, they obviously had time to respond which means they could have just as easily spoken to us for a minute to answer these questions. We still don't know what their rates are. And for the record, they had much older, out of date jet skis. The other place we went to had newer, much nicer ones. I can assure you I have no agenda. We do not know you and we live in and different state. I can assure you I have more important things to do then to lie on yelp. And with your negative response instead of seeing what your customers see only says one thing. Keep arguing and you will only hurt your business. I called in advance to see what their availability was and no one answered. I received a text message back saying the jet skis we're open. I arrived approximately twenty minutes after that and their little shack was completely full. I'm pretty sure they were stacking customers. Edited here: I was posting reviews on a couple of rental places and another company's review got pasted here. Miami BeachSports prices seem to be as advertised. However we never paid anything because we never got to ride. Regardless the point I am trying to make is that I was communicating with them and they knew damn well I was on my way. I get there and its hours of wait time. They wasted valuable time. I could have taken my business elsewhere. Now with that said I would like to add some more of my personal experience with jet skis to this review. I typically would not rent jet skis because I've always owned jet skis for the last 15 years. However 2 years ago I sold the last pair I owned. I have been riding jet skis for 15 years so I know what to expect. It had been a couple of years and I just felt like I wanted to go ride for an hour for a little fun. This particular place is located Oceanside and not on the bay such as the other Jet Ski rental places. The reason I am mentioning this is because if you really want to enjoy Jet Ski riding you should stick to the Bayside. There are many reasons for this. One reason is that many people especially people that are renting jet skis and have never owned them before would not know that when you're riding on the Oceanside it is too choppy and a half of the time the intake pump is not sucking in the water in order to get you up to any speed. You're basically driving around getting beat to death because this ski is constantly bobbing in and out of the water. Most of the time when you're riding on the Bayside you can take the ski to its full potential and ride very relaxed and cruise. Some people may say well I want to jump waves well that's fine but in most cases the Oceanside will just be choppy. On the other hand if the waves are too large most inexperienced riders will not even be able to make it past the break and they probably would not be renting skis that day anyway. The bottom line is if you want to enjoy jet skis and have a nice smooth ride and be able to cut up a little bit then you do better renting from a place on the Bayside. They are pretty large boats that pass through the bay and if you want to jump a wave or a wake then you simply haul ass behind one of these guys and you will fly about 5 or 6 feet out of the water. The last thing I will add is pay attention to the type of ski that you're renting. If you are going to pay the same price at all places then choose the one with the newest skis. This place seemed to have outdated skis from what I could see. I noticed another place on the bayside had new skis and they advertised as having new skis. It makes a difference on your ridding pleasure. Guys if you are going to have a business that is listed on yelp you better get it together. You High ratings as of now is only because you have no reviews. Yelpers know this so don't think you will get business from us until you prove yourselves. I think it is because tourist are your main business so when you are screwing up it doesn't hurt you. Beware. .Yelp can make or break you. Be sure that we will be posting reviews on your competitors too as they also need much improvement. This is from one business owner to another. I hope you learn something from this because at the end of the day that's really what this is about. To help the owners of business see what's wrong before it's too late. read more

This was so much fun! It's even better than horse back riding! The water was warm and the staff is beyond friendly. I went with a group of 4 and the view from the ocean making laps is something you should see once in your life! The staff made us feel super comfortable and even took pictures of us to post on Instagram!! It's hard to find customer service on the beach but these guys are knowledgable and are the perfect examples of good customer service. Ask for Andy, Diego, Melvin or even Manny! I had a fantastic experience with the guys at Miami BeachSports! My boyfriend and I were in town for a few days and we were looking for jetski rentals on the beach (thanks to Yelp, we found Miami BeachSports) and immediately found the Groupon link from their website. Upon arrival, it was clear that they take safety seriously and provided us with very clear instructions and expectations, I had some small talks with the guys while my boyfriend studied for the boating safety exam to be done on site, they patiently answered all my questions about the area. Once we got on the jet ski, we thoroughly enjoyed our hour on the waters! Lastly, being the tourists we are, we asked one of the guys to take some photos for us before we got off and he happily obliged, went above and beyond and snapped a dozen for us! A+ for great customer service! Will be returning next time I visit Miami for sure! Tip for anyone staying on South Beach, this location is an affordable cab ride away (or one bus ride away) in a quieter resort area with less crowds and more quality beach time. At first I was psyched about this. It's local, easy to find and there's a groupon for a great deal. I actually got four friends to join me here. After we started jet skiing we realized that one of my friends had a damaged jet ski, so we went back to the dock to get it changed for a different one. We got to the dock thirty minutes into our hour and instead of giving us a new jet ski the owner refused to allow any of us to return to the water saying that my hour was up (it wasn't) and that my friends had driven to close to each other (he had asked him for help regarding the jet ski and had stayed 50 feet away). When we tried explaining this to him, he got verbally aggressive, started threatening and cursing at us and eventually ended with "gimme your number and I'll swing by later and kill you". All in all not the sort of friendly place that you want to spend your vacations at. Groupon refunded my friends money and hopefully will refund mine as well.
