It needs updating, essentially especially what they're charging for entrance and on top of that hourly parking. Yes they are adding new things, but the whole location need to update the toys, painting, some toys are missing in some of the areas. Their birthday rooms are a little rundown, again a little updating to give him some spunk back it'll be great. I know I have a friend that was thinking of doing her son's birthday there but decided not too cause of the reasons I'm giving. Yes, your assigned a person to help you which is nice and helpful but the look of the room is a downfall. It doesn't stop me for going cause it does have a good concept but it's not my top museum to go check out. read more

This place is awesome. Our 2.5 year old had an absolute blast. We came for the morning session, left for lunch and nap time, then came back for the afternoon session. Each time slot had plenty of kids with more than enough activities and stations for the little ones to run around. I don't think they allow outside food, so keep that in mind. There is a subway on site however. read more

Cute exhibits but not very educational like other children museums I've been to. I took my 2 year old on a weekday. It was really nice that it was not crowded, however, we were kicked out twice from the playground because it was being used by their school. How do you explain to a 2 year old that we need to leave because this museum offering is reserved for the school? We tried the slides at Teo different hours by the way and two different groups were using it. This was a bummer especially because the playground is advertised as part of the museum. Last Friday I was lucky enough to win tickets to an event called Somethings Brewing After Dark located at the beautiful Miami Children's Museum. Parking was a breeze and right in front with an easy scan and bag check. We arrived around 10pm right on time to begin a night of festivities. The DJ was playing alot of 80s music and people were loving it! The drinks were awesome I stayed at the Bacardi station all night drinking rum and coke. Veza Sur and Concrete Brewery were out there with a new brew for Octoberfest Clive's Restaurant had there signature patties that were so good. I loved that they had a tarot card reader and a seperate VIP room that included some couches with a full bar. DJ Khalid surprised us at the end of the event. I had so much fun can't wait to come back next year. read more

Came here for the Yelp Not So Scary Halloween bash and I am so happy that I was able to experience this!!! I got to see that they have added exhibits to the museum. They even have a sensory room which I enjoy as my son was diagnosed with Autism. There were so many activities that my son enjoyed. They had a pumpkin painting station, a donut decorating station which they also had munchkins and coffee for the parents. There was trick or treating through the museum in the first and second floor. There was a really cool haunted house that my son was not scared of at all. He's a real trooper like that! What I was most excited about was the Dr. Seuss Booksville! We love reading! There was also lunch provided by Pollo Tropical. Overall we had a blast and I am so happy that we got to experience this!!! read more

Fun place for kids, they have different departments: police station, vet clinic, supermarket, musical rooms and many more other activities. This is our to go place when it's raining in Miami. Personally, i wish they have a better option food wise.. so far its only pizza/sandwich and every time i go there all the tables look messy that I'd rather starve myself. read more

This is a very cute fun place to take your kids on a free day. There's always something to do here and the museum is almost always hosting cool events. This museum is located right before hitting south beach. It does have its own parking but many times the parking does get full especially if they are hosting a popular event. Inside the museum is meant for kids younger than 12 I would say. It is separated into different areas where kids can interact with many of the installments. The interaction part I love since that's what kids are into. If they can't touch it it's like it doesn't exist! The first floor has a completely interactive town where the kids can dress up. There is also a large boat on the first floor where the kids can pretend to fish. Upstairs the installments change. There is a place where you can battle our games with small boats. If you are not from Miami and are here with kids it's an excellent place to visit. I don't recommend a membership unless you're close by like Brickell or the beaches. I got a membership one year and honestly barely used it they do have great prices on the memberships and if you plan on going more than twice a year then do it. read more

Really nice place for children to learn and play. Clean and kept up to date, this place is a must go if you have small children and you're in Miami. The staff is friendly, some exhibits are really nice and children can get all their favorites under one roof: driving a fire truck, fishing, painting, or going in a maze. We all enjoyed it and will return often. read more

As with the Frost Museum (and sometimes PAMM), my bebe and I are weekly visitors. I know what to expect and have come to count on it. The museum is spacious with plenty of room for exploring. Over the past couple of years I feel like the quality of exhibits has improved. The traveling exhibits also appear to be exciting to most children. We've attended several of the special programs for members and enjoyed ourselves. I find staff to be friendly and helpful which goes a long way to add our experience. Nice size museum, but not too big. Enough for the kids to spread out and not be on top of each other. We got a great discount because my husband is a veteran, so don't forget your ID if it applies. Like most children's museums, they aren't ever AWESOME. It's like a few cool areas and the rest of it is some old worn out stuff kids don't care about, but parents notice. The pirate area was cool though, the kids could stamp their maps at different sites and the sand box to find the treasure with the coordinates was interactive. First time ever visiting this Museum.... parking.....It's a private lot and you pay by the meter. Entrance fee if you're a Florida resident you pay $15 per person, including adults. Museum: it's not too bad for an indoor center, they have multiple exhibits like Publix, Bank of America, a doctors office, Carnival cruise line, rock climbing & an outdoor play area that I can remember. However the problem is that I'm not sure why it's called a museum rather than a indoor play area because that's what it seems like. We've come a number of times and they have a nice set up for kids to explore. Definitely geared toward the mobile toddlers and up. We like Monday's because it's less older kids (5 and under). The readers for the story time are awesomely talented. They sing, play instruments and keep the kids engaged. Downstairs there's construction, a bank, grocery store, vet, fire truck, fishing and a climbing wall and play ground for the older kids. Up the musical stairs there's boats, music section, athletic section and art. It's well designed and plenty to do. They do charge for parking, so it's helpful to have the parking app to monitor your time. There's a subway shop to eat lunch but not much options. Across the street is jungle island, another attraction but not a whole lot of restaurants nearby. They have lots of events and you can also purchase an annual pass if you come a lot. read more

We've gone to MCM a handful of times in the past several years, and recently visited for a birthday party. Since our last time there, they've integrated and updated quite a few of the exhibits. We found the overall experience to be pretty good, with many things to do for our little one. Some highlights: 1. The fishing area is always popular with our kids. They are able to get fishing poles and essentially fish between two levels (floor and upper level of the boat). This area is often packed and at times difficult for kids to get a chance at the poles, but otherwise still fun. They've added an Everglades and "quiet area" on the sides as well, although it really wasn't very quiet. :) 2. On the upper level, they've changed one of the exhibits to now feature Fitness and Health. We thought this was a pretty neat area as there were several activities the kids could try. This included a fitness maze, biking games, treadmill, balancing games and a few other activities. 3. The most popular area this time around was the Pirate Ship and Adopt a Pet zones. Both allowed a lot of room for imagination for the kids, including seeking out buried treasure and diagnosing and grooming your "pet". 4. In addition to the exhibits, MCM also had a "slime" making event going on at specific times of the day. This was pretty neat and allowed the kids to make their own slime. Some improvements to be made: 1. Many of the exhibits and activities feature props, and removable accessories. As a result, they are often missing from their section as kids will take them and run off to other areas. We found this annoying at times as we couldn't complete some activities due to missing pieces. It would be helpful if the staff at MCM could find a way to attach or ensure the pieces stay in their areas. Or periodically have staff check in on them. 2. Due to heavy foot traffic, some of the areas were just too packed to play in. It would help if they could better organize birthday party schedules, lines/ or minimize capacity for groups. 3. Outdoor playgrounds need to be fully covered, to ensure kids aren't burned during hot days. The slides were extremely hot and with no warning, some of the kids were burned when they slid down. 4. Some of the exhibits were still the same as what they were almost 8 years ago- i.e. puppet show area, cruise line area. These need to be changed and updated at least. 5. Some of the exhibits weren't functioning properly (broken switches, missing lights, etc..) All in all, MCM is not a bad way to spend time for families with small children. You can pretty much cover everything in about 4 hours, possibly less, depending on how much imagination you put into it, and activities you actually participate in. Be aware that parking is not free. It is a self park with meter validation, so you need to pay, regardless of the day. We saw meter maids actively issuing tickets during our Sunday visit. read more

We were looking forward to visiting for weeks! We planned to go on a school day as to not run into a large crowd. Be warned- you're paying a ticket to partake in their own personal daycare! They use the grounds as activities for their preschool children to play with. It's quit overwhelming. Prepare for loud little ones, loud daycare employees wrangling children and of course lots of sick, coughing little ones. read more

It was a lot of fun weathering tropical storm Gordon at Miami Children's Museum (aka MCM). MCM is curated with many different active and visually stimulating exhibits that facilitate and foster a positive learning environment and happens to coincide with the Miami Dade County Public Schools curriculum. We spent time navigating through both stories of the MCM and it's tough to say which one had the most impact on our one year old. Her mind is like a sponge and she did take the time to take it all in. It will be interesting to see what piques her interest in the coming years as we revisit. Among the most memorable exhibits were the Health and Wellness Center where I chased my little girl in the toddler room and challenged myself to a long jump; the Music Makers Studio where we watched others play with the giant piano while we tapped on drums and tambourines; the Safety Zone where Nicole and Mayla sat on the police Harley Davidson motorcycle and wore fire helmets and fire jackets; I was impressed with all of the other rooms too which Mayla will come to appreciate when she is a little older such as the Bank. Learning about how to manage money is always a tough topic for parents to tackle. What made MCM special is allowing our child to spectate in life's theatre of other children's interaction with all of the various interdisciplinary experiences, and then follow in their footsteps or not. The choice was hers to make. For a parent it's nice to participate but it's also nice to sit back and watch them make those choices. The parking outside of MCM is not free, but there is ample parking. The admission price is not inconsequential at $15 per person for Florida residents $20 for non-residents and complimentary only if the child is less than 1 year which ought to extend to two years in my humble opinion. If your child is already 1 then the total admission is $45. There are military discounts. Purchasing a family membership for $150 would require a minimum of 4 trips during the year to break even. The museum does not have too many activities to offer. They charge $18 per person regardless of age (yes, even grandma and baby have to pay!). So, for a family of 4 you're looking at $72. In turn, you're getting very little value for your hard-earned money. It seems that they had invested some money in this place some time ago, and now are just looking to capitalize. Great place for kids. Started taking my son here when he was a little over a year old and he's always loved it. Tons to do equals tons of fun. There are different themed areas throughout the place: -Supermarket -Veterinary -Police -Firefighter -Bank -Hospital -Cruise ship -Arts -Music -Playground -Teddy bears -Theater -Story time -Dinosaurs You get the point. Hehehe I believe they were opening a Dora or Diego exhibit as well (might be already up and running as a matter of fact). Plus they do fun events, like Dr. Seuss birthday, and they are nice. This museum is perfect for young kids! I've been here a few times with my 5 year old, but most recently, I as here for the Yelp Not so Scary Halloween party. The event was wonderful! There were so many activities -- from pumpkin and donut decorating to trick or treating stations and a haunted house. There were several mascots too (Miami Heat, UM, Pollo Tropical, Dunkin' Donuts, etc) that made great photo opportunities. As for the museum, there are several different themed play areas for children to play. Carnival and Publix have their own play areas that are always a favorite. There is a Subway onsite for healthy meal options. Parking is easily accessible but it is metered. The museum faces the cruise ships arriving and departing the Port of Miami, which is always fun to watch. Kids love it here so plan to spend a few hours here to really enjoy all the museum has to offer. read more

In general. I think Miami Children's Museum is a 3.5 star place for kids. However, after visiting their limited time exhibit (it's now a different exhibit) about Vietnam I was really impressed. I heard that they had sent several employees to Vietnam to learn about the culture and take all the photos they actually use in the exhibit. The displays and information about the country were accurate and really cute. Unfortunately, some of the musical instruments were delicate and were quickly broken. The fitness exhibit was a good idea however, a couple of the exercise machines broke within a few days. I'm not a huge fan of the corporate sponsored section. While the Publix supermarket area is cute, I don't think it's very educational. The Bank of America section is probably the worst. Kids spend about 15 seconds in there and there's nothing to do. While the Carnival Cruise ship is pretty in photos, there's nothing that interesting for kids to do nor is it that informative. It's just a big advertisement for the company. The two men that often run the special entertainment programs are hilarious and very good at their jobs. It's nice that they have a couple playgrounds around the museum. Overall, I would love to see more educational displays and activities. They also need to think durability when designing exhibits and activities so they can withstand hundreds of children using them. They have special Third Fridays sponsored by Target that have free admission. Check out the Miami Dade Library Museum Pass Program, you may find free admission. read more

I had never been here prior to the Yelp Disco, but I found myself here for a children's event and I think it's quiet the interactive museum for children. My niece and nephew really enjoyed the different stations, from Publix to the dentist it covers different occupations which is neat. Children are able to use their imagination throughout the visit. There's water and some fishing to some coloring and a slide in doors! The Halloween event was a great and safe environment for kids as well! There's also a park outside, on your way out that is def. the perfect spot to make sure the the kids sleep all the way home! read more

We had our first visit here today after we won an annual family membership at a charity auction. It's very easy to get to and there's a parking lot out front with metered parking. We got there as soon as it opened at 10 am on a Thursday, but since it's summer there were multiple camps there. As long as we avoided the rooms the camps were in, it was fine. However, I would suggest during the summer to maybe try on the weekend as soon as it opens or right before closing. It just gets way too crowded and chaotic with the camps or at the busy times. The museum itself is pretty cute but definitely geared more towards the 2-5/6 age crowd. My son is 4 1/2 and enjoyed himself. They have a whole Publix supermarket setup, a carnival cruise ship area, baptist hospital area, health and wellness exhibit, construction room, and more. I like coming here. I've been twice, both times during Bank of America's "museums on us" weekend, so my ticket is free. I think it's enjoyable. The exhibits are fun for the kids and depending on what time you go, they have love shows. Last time I came was around Halloween so there was a "Monsters Under my Bed" show that was really cute! It's not the best museum I've been to or anything but not bad here at all. I just appreciate that there is a children's focused museum in Miami. But I would only come if you have a coupon. read more

Yesterday was my first time going to the Miami Children's Museum. I didn't think that I would like it because I assumed it was mostly catered towards kids. But wow! All the activities brought out the inner-kid I never knew still existed. I had tons of fun peddling bikes, drawing and scanning sea characters onto a screen, reading different facts, steering little boats, exploring different areas, and more. The bathrooms were really clean and I love how the sinks are built lower so kids can reach. Parking is metered but pretty affordable compared to actually Miami Beach parking rates. I have not been to the Miami Children's Museum since I was a kid and I'm amazed at how much it has changed. It's very modern and updated with places to play like Baptist Hospital, Publix, And Carnival Cruise. I love how the kids can play pretend in a "real life setting". It kind of gives me "Wanna do city" vibes but in a smaller setting. There's 2 outdoor parks a indoor rock climbing for $3 or $8 the whole day per child. The parking is right in front of the museum and although it's a public Miami Parking system it's only $.80 an hour if you pay by app or $1 by machines. The only thing I didn't like much about the museum is the lack of costumes/clothing. More should be available and in multiple sizes for kids but also a little more maintenance. They're kids and they're sweaty and running around so the costumes/clothing are filthy to the point where they look like they've never been washed so I was a little skeptical to let Aubrey put it on. Also, the museum isn't as big so they should be able to have an employee at every station for precaution because some of the kids are bigger and parents aren't really attentive towards them. Rather than that baby girl had a blast! Be ready to stop by and grab something to eat afterwards the kids will be tired and starving! read more

Each time I go to the Miami Children Museum I like it more and more. My kids used to love to go here and feel like doctors or fire fighters for a day, and now my nephews enjoy that too. The parking is not free and you can pay with the mobile app. The service at this museum is always great. They offer winter and summer camp and my daughter always wanted to be one of the counselors for these camps, but it is too far from my house. read more

4 stars feels like too much, but 3 stars feels like too little, so I'll be nice and go with 4. Pros: 1. It's a large facility with tons of great exhibits for young children. 2. They have a cool at studio where children and parents can sit down and make take home crafts. 3. All of their exhibits are fun and interactive, especially the physical fitness and music section. 4. The water room with the fishing activities are a huge hit with my 4 and 6 year old. 5. They have a playground outside. Cons: 1. It's super expensive. $20 per person, including kids is just way too much. I only have Port Discovery in Baltimore to compare it too. Port Discovery is way bigger and had better exhibits and ranges from $13 - $15. That's it. It was a nice place to visit, but I'm broke after going there. Lol. We'll likely return though. read more

If my daughter were allowed to Yelp, she'd probably give this place 5 stars...but with age comes wisdom and I can't really say this museum is worth it. Not very many exhibits, feels better equipped for preschoolers...kids age out of this place very quickly. Subway is the only option for food, and my kid doesn't eat subs. I'd much rather drive the extra 20 minutes to Broward and pay for the Museum of Discovery and Science or Young at Art. A more well rounded museum experience can be found elsewhere. read more
