Let me just say this, look at my yelp account and just by seeing how serious i am about my reviews, that should be enough to understand the way i feel about this one. So after some thought about retaliation or whatever, I thought it would be best to just give the MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE in DORAL'S GRAVEYARD SHIFT 1 star that should really be 0 stars and not really go into details but ill say it with this, there are at least 3 guys (possibly 4 or 5) whos work and life and a Fire Rescue employee should be revoked or at least suspended until they complete an Ethics course .....NOT! Ya'll should be permanently fired with no hesitation and unable to work for any other fire department or as a paramedic, there was even private paramedic there who can even serve as a witness for part of it. And yes im only referring to 3-5 specific guys who dealt with me 1 or 2 different nights and not the whole department obviously. Who knows if they were feeding off themselves to treat me the way they did, but they had no reason to, i think they were just sleepy tired and grouchy (it was around 3 or 4 am BUT wtf its their job?!? they were also hating on me like if they knew me but i didnt know ANY of them and i remember faces, believe me, but they acted like they knew all about me, smh. Completely unprofessional and downright scary to be treated that way, not what u would expect from people who are supposed to be saving lives. These guys from that night should never have even become anything close to paramedics or fire rescue and are lucky im not a lawyer or know a good one for that matter. Ima leave it at that and u guys should be happy i did and dont ever fukin treat anybody the way u treated me for god's sake... read more

It is so good to know that MDFR is just a phone call away. MDFR are probably the best trained professionals in the USA. These folks are extremely well trained, professional and compassionate. In addition, they have the best state of the art equipment. What a great feeling and relief it is to have a professional team at your house in very short order - at a difficult time. They had me stabilized and safely to Baptist very quickly. I was very relieved to be in a bed in about 3 minutes after arriving at Baptist. Thank You - MDFR - you guys are the best. read more

I know libraries are a public service and there's no financial incentive for the employees to keep this place so well-maintained, but you can tell everyone in the community cares about making this facility a friendly, pleasant space for people to enjoy.

I also don't know that they don't serve food on weekdays which would've been nice to know so I could bring food with me. Also. The cafe is cash only which is not well advertised.

It grew on me as time progressed and I always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. Then again that exemplifies my whole experience being a born and bred Hialeahan. Hialeah's motto is the "city of progress", but being born and raised here I can tell you that the city and its people can get a bad rap from the rest of the county, state and heck even sometimes the rest of the country. Sometimes to be fair to the detractors, rightly so, other times very unfairly. Its to the point that the city is mocked as the land of "agua, fango y factorias", or water, mud and factories. There have been times where I have been judged for being from Hialeah. Its a working class/poor area of Miami-Dade County, heavily minority, with a large percentage of its residents who do not speak English. Still, I was born and raised in Hialeah and it has shaped who I am and who I became. In the end, this structure shows Hialeah is more than what its detractors say it is. It is beautiful, well maintained, with a cascading fountain. As an aside, one of my fondest memories of this place was when back in September 10, 2009 some high school student spiked the fountain with soap just before rush hour. I laughed so hard right on my way to work! It's not the Arc de Triomphe but it is the monument that serves as the entrance way to Hialeah. In…read morethe 1980s and 1990s, a coral rock fountain on a grassy patch at SE Fourth Street and Okeechobee was all that stood here. In 2005 the city built the that pale yellow Mediterranean style building that features two sentry towers and a stone fountain on the ground floor at a cost of a $411,848.56. In 2011 the Miami New times listed it as "the worst public works projects in Miami-Dade, where bureaucrats and elected officials take pride in wasting millions in taxpayer dollars on crap residents have little-to-no use for." They site the lack of parking, no sidewalk, and the inability to climb up to the top although there is a staircase on the inside. On occasion pranksters will fill the fountain with soap causing the suds to spill out onto the roadway. Although the New Times may have a point that the fountain was an expensive cost to tax payer, it's final price tag came in twice as much as it's budget, I still like it. It fits nicely in with the Mediterranean Revival theme that was popular in the 1920's when Hialeah was founded. It would however be better if it was more accessible for public use like the entrance ways to Coral Gables.
