My wife calls the store and asks specifically if they have drain fly pesticide. "Hold on a minute let me look". "Yes we have it". Ok thank you we are on our way! 30 minutes later I walk in front door and there's a man at front cash register and I ask for drain fly pesticide and he begins to tell me to sue baking soda and vinegar. I tell him we've tried that and it didn't work. "I don't know why it works for me" it didn't work, where is the product my wife called about. "Aisle 5 at the end and I'll have someone meet you". I walk over there and he actually shows up. He then gets in his in-house walkie talkie and asks where it is. Then this obnoxious man walks over and says that they're out of stock. I tell him my wife called and was told it's here and I drove all the way there. This is when it took a turn for the worst. He then started telling me that she didn't call this store and after going back and forth of him telling me that she called a different store and they aren't an Ace Store. He then under his breath said she was lying. I then walked towards the front of store and called her and asked for the number she called. When I read the number out loud all their faces changed demeanor instantly. He then looked on the phone call log and asked me for her number and once I said that he asked the young woman at cash register who answered call and she said she did and told my wife it was in stock. She then apologized but the one accusing my wife of lying and calling a different store turned and walked away without even as much as an apology. We will never shop there again and will make sure every employee of ours never shops there again and anyone else we can share this disgusting behavior with and how on July 4th and in the middle of a Sunday drove there to not only find it not there but be insulted at the same time. read more

Customer Service terrible. You can literally stand waiting for someone to help you for more than an hour. Not kidding- they are completely comfortable ignoring your presence. It's unfortunate because they are attached to a wonderful Ace Hardware store and I worry some people will confuse the two businesses. Ace has great customer service. Miami Home Centers I went in there to get plumbing supplies and instead end up going nuts over their xmas decorations!!!! no kidding. As you entered the store you find yourself surrounded by everything xmas, very pretty stuff, tree after tree decorated and you start to visualize that tree being in your home. Very nice ornaments and don't even get me talking about the UNDER THE SEA xmas tree I had to be pulled away it was just simply spectacular I wanted every ornament on it. I have been missing out in this store, how many times have I driven by and never stop, no more the secret is out, great seasonal items all year round. After all this you are probably wondering " well did she get her plumbing supplies" I did, they really have just about everything under the sun for every project. read more

It's small but it totally serves its purpose. I needed a specific type of lightbulb while at my cousins house and didn't want to drive to Home Depot so I figured I'd pay a little more and save some time while getting the job done. The employees are great because they really help you find exactly what it is that you need quickly. While there's not much variety, there's enough to obtain your specific specialty item when shopping for your home goods. The parking spot is small but it's accessible. There's not many places of this category in the area. Even if all you need is a key made, they can do it quickly without having to drive out of the area. Also, the plumbing accessories come in handy for certain emergencies. The staff is always helpful which is a plus. read more

I wish I would've looked at the reviews before I made my way to the store. Online it says the store closes at 6 PM. I decided to call at 4:50 to ask a question about doorhandle hardware, and the person that I spoke to told me that that specific department closed at five. My navigation told me I will get there at exactly 5. I let the gentleman know whose name was Ray, and he told me to be fast. A few minutes later, I was unsure if parking was needed so I decided to call again and spoke to the same gentleman Ray. I told him that I would be there at exactly 5 to please ask them to wait. He told me they were leaving in a few minutes and basically could not guarantee. I walked through the door at 5 PM, and was directed to the gentleman working in that department. As I spoke to him, he told me they were no longer opened, and it was 5:01 PM. The worst part of the interaction with the attitude, he turned his back on immediately immediately to answer the phone, and was not even a bit interested on what I was looking for. I sat in my car in for the store for almost 15 minutes after I walked out of the store (I walked out very upset and the employee at the front counter saw me, my car was right in front of the door), and saw him leave at that time. I'm sure he could've taken at least five minutes to see what we needed and at least tried to strike a conversation to set up a sale for the following day. Apparently the store feels like they are doing their customers a favor, not the other way around. I wasted quite a drive to get to this location. Beware of their customer service. This has got to be the ultimate downside in Ace hardware. Be forewarned. They will never accept any returns. It's too bad because it's in a great location. I Purchased an item, and had to bring it back approximately 15 minutes later. The clerk insisted that I hadn't bought it there. Even when I showed her the receipt she argued with me. This place needs serious help. They have great stuff and Benjamin Moore paint which I love (paint department guys are great as are people who help you in the aisles) but the cash register people are so untrained. First they didn't know how to do a return and issue a store credit, then it took forever to get it done at another register, then when I go to pay at the first register the woman says we don't accept those gift cards (particularly hilarious since I had just gotten it issued to me at their other register 5 minutes prior). Their credit card machine doesn't work properly either and the clerk was lamenting about it endlessly. Not sure why they don't just replace it instead of making the transaction take twice as long as it needs to. read more

You try to support the little guy, but sometimes the small(er) hardware store just doesn't have what you need. Then you go to CollegeFootballGameDaySponsoringOrangeLogoBigBoxRetailer and amble cluelessly through the aisles until you stumble upon your home-improvement quarry. I like Ace, but it simply doesn't contain the breadth of hammers, nails and screws as does the Home Creepo. If you happen to live near South Miami, or are spending some time in the area eating and shopping when all of a sudden you remembered that you had to pick up a dimmer switch and some caulk, Ace is incredibly convenient. Plus, it's next to Whisk, so throw it a couple bonus points just for its proximity to something awesome. One area that works in this store's favor is its selection of AC filters. For some reason, it stocks a pretty wide variety of sizes. If you require an oddball-sized filter that's hard to find at other stores (including the aforementioned big boxes), you might want to check this place out. read more

THIS is my local hardware store. I always had one where I lived in different areas of metro New York. Your suppose to receive the personal attention from people by visiting often. And up until today I have on many occasions. Keys made. Plungers for a clogged toilet. light bulbs. Lawn stuffbbAnd no it is the cheapest store to get these goods. But going to a place that "everyone knows your name" is worth a lot to me. I have been going here for a year. I purchased my big green egg here. And many other small things that I could have gone the opposite 2 miles to home depot and saved a bundle. Three days ago I purchased a couple tool attachments. $9 worth. When I got home I found out I got the wrong size. So I brought them back today and they informed me they do not take tools back. The tag was still attached. And the wrench was unused. The manager had to be called over and after what seemed like notvwanting to "deal " with me she approved it. I will still shop here but I will have there permission to bring a product home to make sure it is the right one. Or I will start going too home depot exclusively. read more

I love this place. This store is like a mix of hardware and home goods so you get a little bit of everything. My father owns a salon around here so I always pop in when we need something for the house. They have almost anything you can think of for the home. I've always had a good experience here. They have a lot of employees on the floor and they've always been really helpful when picking out something. They usually have a wide variety of stuff. I love coming to buy stuff here for the holidays. You'd never think it but this place makes a big deal out of holidays and always sells the cutest things. Best tip: become friends with the staff! This is a fabulous neighborhood hardware store with sooo much more than just houseware and hardware stuff. I thoroughly enjoy running in to get a key made then randomly finding an awesome candle or fun gift. The employees are friendly and abundant and will literally stop what they're doing to not only answer a question but to walk you to the exact location of whatever item you need. During the holidays, the store is a sight to behold with a multitude of thematic Xmas trees and other respective holiday decor. The best news is that I always unexpectedly have some sort of award that is applied to the balance giving me a few bucks off of my purchase. It's nice to know that stores like this exist in our neighborhood. Particularly a store that carries such a wide variety of products. It's a home center because you can come here and pick up cleaning supplies, air filters, light bulbs, etc. And that's just from the hardware portion of the store. They're also a Benjamin Moore paint store. They also have candles and nick nacks for your home. And if you need to renovate your home, they have a plumbing and hardware showroom located in front of thr store. This is a one stop shop. I also prefer to come to a small hardware store where you can actually find someone to help you. When you go to the big box stores your pretty much on your own or have to search long and hard for someone to help you. If you're ever in the South Miami/ Coral Gables area definitely check them out. read more

This is definitely a store I will not be returning to. I have never written a poor review on a business, but I could not let this one go. I come from a family of business owners and know how vital is to provide good customer service. Being a Coral Gables resident, I know it is not to easy to find a close by hardware store. I have purchased there before but it had been awhile. What I did not find was the service I would expect from a well established small business in the heart of South Miami who caters to an elite crowd. I purchased some lights which did not look good in my home so I went to return them. Given that Thanksgiving was the next day, I realized that a couple days had passed however, when you are a working parent It sometimes difficult to return right away. Unfortunately I was not aware of the store policy, so I pretty much lost my money since they could only give me store credit. The manager on duty was extremely unpleasant and barely even made an attempt provide decent eye contact. This is after waiting in a line for awhile, the manager then proceeded to tell the cashier to give me a store credit when "she could.... " Well I walked around the store in an attempt to allow the cashier to finish with her current customer, I returned when she then proceeded to assist a customer who came in after me due to the fact that the other customer seemed "bothered". It did not occur to her that I waited patiently, disregarding the rudeness of the manager and furthermore did not even provide me with a bag for my purchase since I could only get store credit. I had conundrum and was trying to make a "tab" for my luggage zippers. A young man (student) and 2 nice ladies at the back entrance helped me. They took up the challenge and helped think through options. (New luggage is expensive and it seemed nuts to replace a good suitcase due to zipper tabs! They agreed.) After we tried all options at this store, one of the ladies called and spoke to another store to see if they had a product. They did and she had them reserve a package. BEWARE of Mario, the Manager!!!! I placed a specialty order & was promised the items would arrive in 2 weeks. 3 weeks later I never received any notification (as I was promised) so I called the store. They couldn't find my order but had 1/2 my order in stock at the store. Come to find out that the other 1/2 of my order had already been sold. Instead of being honest about what had happened, Mario (the Manager) lied & said he always carried it in stock. Unfortunately, I have been placing the same specialty order at that store for 7 years and know that is not true. I ended up waiting another week (it's now been a month) for the other 1/2 of my order to arrive. When I asked for a discount or something in return for my trouble, he offered me 10% discount on a future order. I was insulted that #1, he would only offer 10% (what a joke!) and #2 that he thinks I would give that store another penny. My advice to Ace - find a new Manager! My advice to customers - no specialty orders! The truth is that you can find better prices online or at other hardware stores so he isn't worth your time & money. read more

Beautiful store it has everything anyone can ever want and need from amazing light fixtures, bathtubs, vanities, candles, gifts etc HOWEVER, having to deal with the cashier in the back I believe her name is "Mama Louise" is painful and nauseating! If you are dealing with the public for the grace of God please make sure your breath smells good. It's impactful when your 3rd in line and her breath catches you.. you can only imagine once you've reached the register. Help me Jesus! I don't write reviews very often, especially bad ones, but this was beyond the inefficient, lack luster service, which I have encountered here a number of times. It is basically downright robbery. I decided to splurge and buy myself an Archipelago Botanicals Black Forest candle and diffuser. I don't buy them often as their pretty pricy, but it's my favorite scent and we were having company, so I did. The diffuser was fine. The candle however was defective and cannot be safely used. The wick is "so" off center it is less than a 1/4 inch off the side of the black glass holder it comes in. I called the store to let them know. I spoke to the front cashier girl who then patched me on to Sherry, I believe. She preceded to tell me that they have very strict 'no return' rules on candles. I advised her that I was quite aware of that, but that this was not a "I changed my mind' or "I didn't like the scent" or "it doesn't smell" situation. It was that it cannot be used. It was defective. She asked if I had not looked at it before buying, which I replied, "no, as they come wrapped in a sort of twisted tissue paper and in their special box". It would not have been nice to do that and I had honestly never had a problem with this candle before. She advised that she could still not exchange it for me. I asked her to please leave a message for the owner to call me. I had spent a decent amount of money on a candle I was only able to use 1 hour out of the 50 hours it's suppose to be able to burn. Sherry called me back a little later and left a message that the owner confirmed that they would not do anything about it and referred me to Archipelago to fix the problem. What kind of service is that? It is disgusting uncaring service, that's what it is. This was a faulty product. I paid more than $80 for the two items and one is useable. I called less than two days after purchasing it. I like to support local businesses and I've supported this one for many years. Especially at Christmas, however, after this lack of service and care, I will not be going back. I am just one person, but I would spend quite a bit of money there throughout the year. I hope they get the message and improve their customer care. The owner should be much more caring and customer friendly. He does not deserve my business. The guys in the back hardware section have always been very nice and helpful I will say. read more

I wasn't aware that their return policy is 7 days for a refund and after that, within 30 days of your purchase you get a store credit. Service in the hardware department is good but the showroom is a DISASTER. The sales reps never pick up the phone or answer messages. Shipping takes forever, prices are exorbitant. Since no one ever picks up the phone I have had to drive to the store to check on my order and wait 20-30 mins to speak to someone at the store just to hear that my order has still not arrived (two weeks and counting). Post hurricane Irma the store was operating on generator, on a reduced schedule. I arrived shortly after "T" the manager locked the door. I needed a few parts to connect a generator to my condo so that i could enjoy some much needed AC and electric. "T" opened the door, took me to the place where I could find some parts. We had a couple challenges matching everything up. The owner Dan Hitchcock provided some additional assistance. No one made us feel like we were there after hours. I was just here this morning- the rating is actually a negative -1. My husband and i are remodeling our home and just added on a bathroom. We both work so its hard to find a place that is open on Sunday. My friend who is a kitchen designer at Lowes recommended this store for more high end bath fixtures. When we arrived no one there to help, but my husband and I walked around to find fixtures. Five minutes into it a woman at the store who did not greet us or ask if we needed anything tell us to leave the area because its closed when the designers are not there because things have "gone missing". I have to tell u she was the nastiest person I have ever encountered at a store. She did not welcome is just basically get out because you may steal something. To boot she was the manager on duty today November 22, 2015 at 11:45am. I will never, ever return and advise that you think twice before deciding to choose this place for any of your home needs. Too bad her lack of service and excellence cost them our business. We were looking to purchase 2 toilets and all of our bathroom fixtures. Never again!!! read more
