I dropped off my dress for minor alterations, and admittedly, I forgot to ask for a price, mostly because I've had similar work done before and it's typically around $80. When I came to pick it up, I felt rushed by Mia to try it on and take it off. She immediately began talking about how much work it was and how many hours she'd spent on it, which gave me the sense she was trying to justify an inflated price. Sure enough, she charged me $150. When she saw my reaction, she said, "I don't like complainers, so I'll leave it to you for $130." After the fact, I checked reviews and realized I wasn't alone, others have had similar experiences. Take this as you will, but I've worked with several quality seamstresses in town, and none have charged anywhere near that amount for similar alterations and materials. read more

This was mymy first time at an alterations place and now the only place that I'll go. Mia is the nicest woman I've ever met. Most people you can't get to know too well from short interactions, especially business ones, but I feel like I know her already. She came recommended from a friend, and from the moment we walked in it was no surprise why. Every interaction with customers was kind and caring. The work is fine but nothing special. Better than the dry cleaner next door that has ruined multiple items of mine. I would absolutely ask for prices up front. I had a cotton single fabric layer dress that needed to be hemmed about half an inch or so, $80 and picked it up after a week. For reference, in the BAY AREA I needed a separate bridesmaid dress hemmed in an emergency with same day turn around and multiple layers of chiffon fabric and she charged for individual layers and it was also $80. It feels like they are up charging significantly, $80 for a single layer hem is insane and not fairly priced at all. I have received recommendations for better high quality but affordable places in sparks and would make the drive. read more

I have loved Mia's for the last 5 years. They do a excellent job on the dry cleaning but also last time I asked them if they did alterations and she said yes. I had a skirt that needed a complete new waistband put in. The prices are pretty reasonable too. I had a bit of sticker shock when I saw it would be $22 to dry clean a cocktail dress but to be fair I don't use this service that much anymore. Don't get me wrong the service is excellent and the dry cleaning was perfect. I've started to sell a bunch of clothing, shoes, ect so it's important to have everything dry cleaned before you sell it. I brought my wedding dress here to get altered and Mia was so sweet and prompt--I was able to pick it up in less than two week and the dress looked great! So impressed by Mia! What a great member of our community. I went in based off of good yelp reviews and left with a new friend. This will be my initial review which I will update when I pick my items up. I came in with my wedding dress and a few bridesmaid dresses. She was so complimentary of my dress so I pulled up a picture. She instantly recognized that my husband was half Korean and was genuinely interested in all the Korean traditions we incorporated in to our wedding. Left with fresh kimchi, a cosmetic bag, and some other side dishes! Mia truly lives the saying "Never Met a Stranger". I dropped stuff off here twice for dry cleaning as it's close to my home and the reviews were very positive. Unfortunately, both experiences were very poor: 1. Pricing is insane. They charged me $20 for a very simple sleeveless shift style work dress. A simple blazer was $14. Just getting shirts laundered with starch is $7. 2. Service--both times my items were not ready by the day and time given and both times they could not find my items and it was a total fiasco. I didn't ask for anything to be expedited and had to come back later for the first set of items. For the insane price they charge, I was expecting my items to be done on time. read more

Came to Mia's to have some clothes fixed. Had a coat with a torn picket, shirt with torn button and pants with while in the crotch. It took a little longer than expected (came in after 1 week when they said it would be ready and it wasn't) so came back the second week and they were complete. The time didn't matter because the work was solid!! Couldn't even see the stitching on the pants and shirt, all the work was done very well and the staff there is super friendly. I have brought several things to get dry cleaned and the first time I brought two items, a sweater and a pair of velveteen pants, they lost my pants. Mia said that I only brought one item. I was positive that I had given her the pants. I was able to locate the receipt and it clearly showed that there were two items. She searched her laundry and located them in a box. The second time, I brought a jacket in to get dry cleaned. When I went home, I discovered that the collar and other areas had not been pressed. The third time that I dropped off a pair of pants, I asked for a crease down the middle of my pants. I received a call to come in and pick up my pants because they found a stain, which didn't make a lot of sense since I examined them at the time that I dropped them off. My advice is to keep your receipts and check your items when you drop them off. There was no stain, just some dirt which came off when I took them to a different dry cleaning business. read more

I recently dropped off a dress and a jumpsuit to have a small stitch put in each one and to have the dress only cleaned. I was told it would be $35 total and would be ready on Tuesday. This was a 6 day wait and I was fine with that. I went in on Friday to pick it up and the dress was ready but not the jumpsuit. I looked at the ticket and she wanted to charge me $75 . This was double what she said. This is a ridiculous amount to charge. The owner was not there and I told the lady working that I did not want them to touch the jumpsuit and I checked the dress to see if the stitch had been put in and it had not. The only thing that had been done is the dress was cleaned with a ticket price of $75. I needed these items to wear for my daughter's celebration of life and had to experience the upset from this. My friend also took a blazer there and was quoted a price and then it was different when she got there. Shame on this establishment! read more

Very frustrated customer. Every time I come during normal business hours to pick up my order, they are closed without a note or any explanation. It makes no sense. Also, charging over $60 to clean a comforter and two pillow cases is very overpriced in my opinion. They should post prices so we know what we are going to be charged for items. read more

This was my first time going to a dry cleaner and I heard some good things about this place. As I walked in I was immediately greeted with the welcoming staff! I brought in my sisters wedding dress to get dry cleaned that had a beer stain from the wedding that had been there for about 3 months. They cleaned the dress in three days! When I picked it up, the stain was completely gone and the bottomm of the dress with very clean, looked almost brand new again! There was a belt that was attached to the dress that was a little detached, an easy sewing fix. Other than that, the service was exceptional, quick, and easy. I will becoming back! read more

This place blows. This was the first option that popped up for me when finding a "dry cleaner". All I saw were good reviews and instantly chose it. If you care about your clothes, don't go here. I dropped off a designer hoodie that was super buttery smooth and I picked it up, with it being a size smaller and very rough texture. I have dry cleaned the same hoodie before, 4 times by a different place and it came out the exact same softness, size, and everything just like when I bought it! My favorite hoodie is now feels like it was thrown into a typical washer and thrown into dryer on high heat. I could have done this myself if I just knew that their "dry cleaning" is just simple washing and drying. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Go somewhere else. read more

I had two jumpers dropped off one to add a snap and one to shorten the straps. I was told they would be ready Thursday for pick up as they were for a wedding, come Friday at 3pm they are not ready and I saw the bill for $85?! This is 4x as much as the same alteration I have had done at other places. When the lady there had no idea what was going on she said she could call within 30 mins to find out what was going on. No one called! So I called back over 30 times over two hours. No answer and no calls received Due to this major oversight and ridiculous price I wanted to tell Mia to not touch my items. I am still without my jumpers and have not heard a word from Mia. This was a terrible mistake on my part. I should have known better last time I went to Mia sewed the tail onto my sons kangaroo Uggs on upside down. Last time. Let's just hope my jumpers aren't screwed up by the time we get back from this wedding. read more

Mia is a LIFESAVER! Firstly, I had never had anything dry cleaned before. I walked into a dry cleaners (not Mia's) to get my husband's suit cleaned, and the lady was exceptionally rude to me. After I told my husband, he went and picked up the suit and I went to Mia's because I had read her great reviews. She said "I'm so grateful that you're mine now!" My husband picked up the suit when it was done and it looked seriously better than ever. Fast forward a couple of weeks- I was feeling kind of blah about my wedding dress and I needed to get it altered but everywhere I looked wanted to charge me a fortune just to hem it and take it in a little on the sides. I remembered that Mia also does alterations, and had such a pleasant experience taking my husband's suit in to get dry cleaned so I called her up. She remembered me! I brought my dress in and she got me all pinned up. Even pinned, the dress looked so much better. I just picked it up today. It fits me PERFECTLY (like, perfectly) and went from being a "this will do" wedding dress to my dream dress. Crazy what a difference a good tailor makes! I feel really taken advantage of by Mia, and am disappointed since I had often taken my clothes to her in the past. I had two inexpensive dresses that I needed hemmed and had gotten what I thought was a high quote from PDQ. When I came to Mia and she remembered me and I knew she had charged relatively fair prices in the past, I trusted her to do a good job and charge a fair price so did not even ask what the cost would be. I go to pick up the dresses while Mia is not in, and see that she charged me $200! 3x what the dresses cost and what PDQ quoted. One of the dresses didn't even need a hem, she just had to cut the bottom off. Definitely my mistake for not asking up front, but I feel like shame on her for ripping people off this badly, I am a struggling graduate student, money is an object to me. Sadly I will not return to this business and prefer Dawn at Alterations Connections, who hemmed my wedding dress a few years ago, also for less than this crazy price Mia just hit me with. Dawn was closed on Monday so I took to Mia :( She is charming and friendly but not a good seamstress and apparently a pretty shady business owner based on my experience and some other one star reviews I've now read. *additionally, I got home and tried the dresses on and they are both too long in the back, like a train that drags on the ground which is not at all what I wanted! I ended up cutting the bottom of the one hem-less dress, that I paid her $80 to cut for me. The other dress she charged me $120 for, the seam in poorly done, I could have done a better job myself!
