This would be very nice for dancing or a cocktail area. The inside isn't as nice. It is actually an old smog shoppe and so if you're having a formal affair (like a formal wedding), this will feel off. The bathrooms especially give this a more casual, chain restaurant feeling. The neighborhood isn't great but if you come for any event, it's very likely there will be valet parking. That is the ONLY way to do it. Absolutely worth looking at if you're doing a work meeting, conference, rehearsal dinner or something where a more relaxed, artsy feel is in order.

This event was pretty awesome as all people came together to experience this event. When you walked in they were handing everyone a raffle ticket, which was cool. I didn't know what the prize was at the moment but I held on to my ticket. There was artwork setup and an area where t-shirts were being made complimentary. It must have also been sponsored by the beverage company Brisk as "It's Brisk" signs and beverages were everywhere. Just past the tshirt machine there was what appeared to be a beverage machine but once you got closer it was really a door that lead to another side. I took a few steps in and the whole inside of this section was like a ginormous comic book from the ceiling to the walls to the floor. Everything! There were multiple sections that had different scenes. They had a bar area and even a section to take pictures at the Wakandan throne. I missed the 3:30p raffle calling but I was there for the very last one as it ended at 4pm. A few numbers were called (apparently those people left) and they called another number which happened to be me. The prize was a portable charger. Moving on, I made my way over to take pictures on the Wakandan throne. They had some of the attire on display that were tied to a specific African tribe, an interview with Ruth E Carter about bringing Wakanda alive in the film--film set pieces and costumes. Black Panthers Michael B Kordan made an appearance the first day. They had a DJ (although music was a little loud) and a photo back drop for photos. In our search for an indoor venue with our simple & minimal wedding vibe, HNYPT was the first venue we visited & the only venue we visited - because we loved it immediately. It has two incredible, connected spaces (one could be used for ceremony, and the other for reception) with brick wall, lovely flooring & an open canvas for whatever one's vision might be. There's a corner with exposed industrial electrical boxes that I absolutely adore - would make for a great photo op. Michael was super helpful via email leading up to our visit, during the booking process and venue visits we made. Although we ultimately were not able to host our wedding here, the venue is gorgeous & Michael was very kind through it all!

The staff were very friendly and got us checked in and told us it was open seating. The theater was large and spacious and there was plenty of seating to choose from. Despite being an older theater, the seats were still pretty comfortable. It was a free show and it was a dance company primarily performing hip hop and Latin dance. The quality of the show was superb and the sound quality was also fantastic as the music really took over the space. It was easy to see everything going on. Afterwards, they had a chance to interact with the dancers in their gorgeous lobby and outdoor space. I would highly recommend attending their Sunday programming!

So this review is more for that event but the venue is definitely a five star venue, but I wanna talk about the event just because it was amazing. They had speakers throughout the whole day talking about history of women's efforts in Los Angeles from learning about the central public library to architects trying to break into a male dominated world, and of course, fashion. It was an amazing day learning about all these different aspects of Los Angeles life. I even heard about one group's efforts to write the story of Madame Wong's effort in the Early, LA hard-core punk rock days something that's actually near and dear to me since I loved punk rock talking about bands like black flag, The Circle Jerks, social distortion, channel 3, adolescents, Alice Bag band, Vandals all these great bands. Anyway, the Ebell is a women's group that needs to be supported, embraced and loved as it provides an amazing service for the women of Los Angeles

It sat vacant for a few years and briefly reopened as a performing arts space in 2013 but was forced to shut down. After being declared a historic monument, it underwent a complete renovation by new owners in 2015. The building changed hands again in 2023 and functions as an event center and a shared common workspace. This three-story venue has rooms upstairs. Downstairs is the main room with lofty ceilings, large windows, wood floors, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a stage for a DJ or live bands. Downstairs is a speakeasy style bar and the backyard is also a nice spot for an outdoor reception. I've driven by this place numerous times thinking it was just a church. I recently saw that there was a Holiday Market Place being held here so I stopped in to do some shopping. There was a man on the front lawn making pupusas and people sitting at tables enjoying them. Inside is quite spacious and there were several vendors selling their merchandise. The tables were nicely spaced apart, so it was easy to browse. CRATES. they barely had any garbage disposals for us to clean. main thing was the workers under the company look lazy and rude. if we didn't clean, they would keep the deposit. I don't think a reception of that size would be overlooked by the host and simply wasn't disclosed that significant detail. for the price of a different venue with all services for cleanup, seems like it's better to go somewhere else. plus, no parking and it's only street. interesting space but pass.

I have rented a lot of spaces in LA for meetings, pop ups, and workshops and none of them were this easy to work with. There's space to do just about anything and they have in house media and event services with competitive rates if you don't want to have to spend time shopping around. They have a great sound system, lighting, camera's, even a full bathroom. This is definitely a gem in South LA and I look forward to having events and shoots here in the near future!
